Hey guys, it's aisling and in today's video we're going to be trying to dye a synthetic wig. So it's kind of a long story. But basically i bought a few human hair. Wigs off of amazon, like probably six months ago and one of them came in the mail and it was synthetic when i ordered like a human hair wig and paid like a hundred dollars for it. So i reached out to customer service and the shop completely shut down so like it's not like, i could get the original wig because i think they were like scamming people like maybe they went out of business and they didn't have any more human hair wigs. So they were charging people like a hundred dollars for human hair and then shipping out like a cheap, 20 synthetic wig and like pocketing the money, because they were closing anyway. So amazon went ahead and refunded me the amount of money i bought on the wig. I was supposed to get not only did amazon refund me, but i got to keep the synthetic wig so basically now i have a nice thick blonde synthetic wig and i don't know what to do with it. So here is the synthetic wig. It is just a platinum blonde straight synthetic wig. It honestly has a pretty nice hairline like it's. It seems to be like an okay quality synthetic wig. I will say it tangles really really easily on the ends. You guys know. I have that black synthetic wig with the bangs that i like to wear and that one is so soft it never tangles it's such good quality. I love that black wig. This one is a little bit more like synthetic feeling. It definitely feels a little bit more like plastic, it's not as soft as my black synthetic wig and the ends tangle really really bad too from like here down, they tangle a lot, so i already have like a blonde wig. Also, my hair is blonde, so i don't really have a lot of need for like this blonde synthetic wig. So i was kind of wondering like what i should do with it and because it is synthetic like you can't really dye synthetic wigs. But i have heard in the past of people dying synthetic wigs with like rit dye, that's specifically made for synthetic clothing, so i decided i'm gon na try it today for you guys, i honestly don't know how well this is gon na work, but i figured we Could try it together that way, i have like a wig that i can wear instead of this, like i don't want to throw it out, because it is like a pretty nice synthetic wig, so i want to be able to color it. So it's different than other things i have and i'll actually wear it. So i was thinking that i just want some black tips. I don't know, i think it would look really pretty with like dip dyed black tips. It just reminds me of like early 2000's, christina aguilera type hair, so i went ahead, went to walmart bought this rit dimore synthetic graphite dye. It is in black, so we're going to try this today and we're going to try dip dyeing the ends of the synthetic wig. This synthetic wig is thick as hell like. There is a lot of hair on here, so i don't want to just get rid of it. I would like to um like upgrade it and make it so that way i would want to wear it. I think giving this wig a little makeover and giving it some dip dyed black ends would just like make it beautiful and make me want to wear it. So we're going to try this today. Let me read you the directions on the back of the rit dye bottle. It says: shake well before using wear rubber, gloves, add water to a stainless steel pot, heat water on stove just below boiling. Ideally, water temperature should be 200 degrees, fahrenheit or greater. Maintain temperature for duration of dyeing. Add one teaspoon of liquid dish. Detergent add dye mix well, submerge unfolded, wet fabric into dye, bath stir constantly for 30 minutes or until desired. Color is achieved up to 60 minutes, nylon dies faster fabric will look darker when wet and prior to washing rinse in warm water and then gradually cool water. Until rinse water runs clear, wash in warm water with mild detergent by hand or in your washing machine with an old towel, so that's basically the gist of it. So i'm going to boil some water put it in a metal bowl, wait for it to cool down a little bit and then i'm going to add a little bit of dish detergent and then i'm gon na add this whole thing. I kind of want a gradient. So like really black on the ends and then like maybe a grayish color fading into the blonde, so i'm gon na use this whole entire bottle of rit dye. Hopefully it will work well if i use the whole bottle and then i'm going to dip the hair in pull it out dip it in pull it out. Until i see like the bottom of the hair starting to change color and then i'm going to dip the ends of the hair in for a longer period of time, to try and make them more pigmented and more of like a true black color, i have watched One video on youtube of someone dying, a synthetic wig using this type of dye and it did work, but the color wasn't as vibrant. Like say you got like a neon orange and you dyed a synthetic wig with it. It was more like a peach color, so i'm a little worried. It'S not going to be black and it's going to be like a weird gray, color or like a green or blue because, like the black diluted, might have green or blue undertones, so we're just gon na have to wait and see what this dye looks like. I'M gon na go boil some water put it in a pot, and i will be right back so we can try dyeing this synthetic wig. Okay, i have my soap and my bowl. I also have my boiled water. This is actually my steamer for backdrops, but it boils water, so i'm just gon na open it up and like take the water out, it's not boiling anymore, so i feel like it's probably at a good temperature. I do want to let it cool down just a little bit more because i don't want to melt the hair, it is synthetic, so it will melt, it is steaming. I don't know if you guys can see it on camera. So i'm just going to add my water wow, that's really hot ouch, i'm gon na add my water into the bowl that didn't make a lot of water, so i'm gon na go boil some more and then that should be enough. So let me go boil another round of water and put it in there, so it said to add, like a teaspoon of dish detergent, this is dishwashing liquid. I don't know what the difference is, but we're just going to add a little squirt in there. Okay, i'm not going to do much because it might be the wrong thing and then also going to go ahead and put this whole bottle of rice dye in there. It said shake well, oh, it has a heavy green undertone. It looks like straight green. Actually, even if it doesn't turn black and it turns like a forest green, i think that would still look pretty cute all right. Let me get an angle of me pouring it in here. Oh, yes, okay! I poured the whole bottle in there. I'M just gon na whisk everything up to make sure it's all incorporated seems like it's good and stirred all right. Let'S go ahead and try and dip dye the ends of this wig. I don't know if i should put it in there like straight on like this or if i should flip it upside down and make sure all these ends are detangled and brushed out here. I think it's working, you guys, i think it's working. I think it's definitely working and i don't think i need to soak it for 20 minutes. Oh my gosh, this looks crazy cool, i'm so excited so right now it does look like a gray color. I also forgot to put on gloves my bad, but it definitely looks like a gray color, so i'm going to dip it a couple more times. So there's that and now i'm going to soak the ends, it said to leave for 30 to 60 minutes, but i kind of wanted like a gradient effect, so i am going to let the ends sit like sit in here for like 30 minutes, i'm just gon Na drape them over the side again, i do want that gradient effect. When you first dip the hair into the dye, it looks very, very dark and pigmented like it just grabs the color really quick. But then after you hold it out of the water, that color kind of starts fading away and it gets lighter and lighter. And you can tell the dye didn't soak into the hair like as fast as you thought it did. I'M just going to watch this for like 30 minutes and see how the dye is grabbing onto the hair. I want to make sure that all of this up here stays like this pretty gray color. This die is actually very, very, very beautiful. When i first opened the package, it looked very green, but now in the bowl it looks like a really nice, like black gray color, i'm excited to see what this wig looks like. So i'm just going to let it sit for 30 minutes all right. So it's been about 30 minutes and i don't think the dye is really grabbing onto the hair when i spray up here with a water bottle, it just goes back to blonde, which is disappointing, but it looks like a toned blonde, so the ends have been soaking For about 30 minutes now, i've made the executive decision to dip the whole entire wig. If i spray this with water, it just goes back blonde, but it goes back to like more of a ashy toned blonde. So i'm just gon na dip it in here and let it soak for like five minutes. The ants have been soaking for 30 minutes and i don't know if they've done anything, but i just figured let's throw the whole thing in there and see if it does anything see if it at least tones the blonde a little bit so i'm gon na. Let this sit for like five minutes and then i'm gon na go rinse it out with water and i'll be back to show you guys. The finished results all right. You guys i am back and the results are actually pretty interesting. Let me show you the wig, so here's the wig um it looks pretty good, i'm like pretty impressed with it. It has a little greenish under hue to it. But honestly, i think it's better than what it was before it was like so yellow beforehand and just like a very platinum, yellow blonde and unfortunately, with synthetic wigs, there's like no way to just tone that out, but this is a way to tone it out. I guess get that rit dye and granite, and literally just soak it for three to five minutes, rinse it and it toned all of that blonde to like this nice gray, color the ends are a tiny bit darker than like the root area is, but not by Much like it's not a crazy difference, but i mean it's not really that noticeable. So as far as like dyeing a synthetic wig, you definitely can, but i don't know if there's a way to dye a synthetic wig where it's so so so pigmented. I think maybe i might go, buy more of the granite and not mix it with water and just use the dye straight out of the container and just dip the ends straight into the die on its own and see if that works. Obviously, the color was diluted with water, which is going to make it lighter. So i'm thinking - maybe if you just use the dye straight out of the container, without adding a bunch of like hot water to it, maybe it would like grab onto the synthetic fibers a little bit more overall, i'm i'm still like very, very impressed and it's better Than what it was it's like an ashy blonde. Now i also want to share a tip that i did when i was rinsing out the color, so i went ahead and rinsed out all of the color until the water ran clear, and i told you guys this wig was really ratty at the bottom. It kept tangling like crazy, so i don't remember where i heard this, but somewhere i heard that fabric softener will make your wigs super soft and feel really nice. So i went ahead and i got some fabric softener and mixed a little bit of warm water, and i soaked the wig just for like a minute, and it did help a lot and also the wig smells absolutely amazing. Now, like it smells so good. I might actually like soak my extensions in some fabric softener because just like the smell, it smells delicious and i love like my hair to smell good. So i might do like a very mild like fabric softener, on my extensions. That way, my hair smells good, but it definitely definitely helped this wig be more manageable. I will say just be careful if you're gon na dye the whole entire wig and dump the whole wig into the pot with a dye it does stain the inside of the lace cap. You guys can see. All of this is now gray in here, and that was all white before and now it is actually very pretty gray, but just keep that in mind if you're like using neon, pink dye and you're trying to dye a synthetic wig, all of this in here will Become neon pink same thing with the lace, my lace is now like a dingy color um, so you might want to try and put something to protect the lace and all the cloth on the inside. So that way it doesn't die like those bright colors. Thankfully, i was just using like a gray color, so it didn't do anything too crazy, but i can't imagine if you use like a neon orange or neon pink, how insanely that would show up on, like the lace and inside the cap. I'M pretty happy with the way it turned out. I think i still want to experiment with it more and maybe try some other colors. So if you have any suggestions on what we should do with this wig and any transformation ideas, let me know that is all for today's video. I hope you guys enjoyed it. Don'T forget to check out my instagram. The link to that is in the description down below i post way more of my everyday life on there give the video a thumbs up. If you enjoyed it, i love you guys so much and until next time guys stay weird bye.

Kat Aroo: I've dyed synthetic wigs lots of times using SYNTHETIC-fabric dyes! Yes, you can use RIT for Synthetics, or iDye for Synthetics, on heat safe wigs. You needed higher water temp to get a darker grey, Aislinn! But I agree, it's pretty anyhow!! :-) TIPS for anyone who's gonna dye a synthetic wig: Most heat safe lace front wigs are heat safe at least up to 300F, so you can safely use simmering water, on your stovetop, to get more saturated results. Buy a DEEP cookpot at the thrift store to use ONLY FOR DYE, and also tongs. Wear long cleaning gloves. Have old towels nearby to clean up, it gets messy. ***Do a test strand first*** to make sure you get the desired color before you dunk the whole wig. Use a kitchen timer during your test strand, to time how long it takes to get the color you want. Swish the hair around gently and constantly as it is in the dye bath. That will make sure the color is even. Protect the lace somehow, if you don't want it to take on the dye! Last tip, you can make super pretty ombre tones by dip dyeing into different colors. That's my fave way to dye synth wigs. HAVE FUN EVERYONE!

Sese: Can we just stop a minute SHE LOOKS GORGEOUS!!

K: Cosplayer here! I've dyed a few wigs with rit and the heat is very important! I've always just used my stove to keep the heat constant. Just went and bought a cheap stainless steel pot to use only for dying! Using a test strand is very important too so you can see how long you need to leave it in order to get the color you want and if you need to add more color.

Katherine Andrews: One thing to try is to heating the rit dye in a double boiler before doing the dip when you try the straight dye. The heat is important for the dye to react (there's science behind it, but I'm bad with words, so).

Irisheyes007: I seriously was wondering how on earth you could dye synthetic hair! Rit dye....I never would have guessed...thanks Aislinn and Katherine Andrews in the comments! You girls rock...

Jennifer Ford: It wasn’t the amount of dye. You need the water. It was the temp. There is a reason it says to keep it at 200° or warmer the entire time it’s dying. Synthetic fabrics can’t be dyed cold the way that natural fabrics can. I understand not wanting to melt the wig but 200°-210° shouldn’t do that.

Nicole Pearl: I used to dye my friend’s synthetic braids with a mixture of Indian ink and hydrogen peroxide!!! Super full proof! There’s coloured Indian ink as well so doesn’t have to be just black!

xgreydovex: The grey lace actually makes it look like the wig has a shadow root.

ARK Ramoon: Fabric softeners contain emulsifiers and alcohol ethoxylates which makes it highly flammable so just be careful if u decide to put it on your hair

Lunova Labs: I use this dye to dye my furbys. You have to maintain a high heat below boiling. Not just hot water in a bowl.

Elisha Melia: You need to keep the heat consistent. The heat is important. Put the dye in a stainless steel pan on your stove and then dip the wig while the stove is maintaining the heat and you’ll get better results

Jessica Wilson: The most important thing with using synthetic dyes really is heat. You need to stick to the recommended temperatures for it to properly take.

Elle B: Girl! Your extensions/hair blend so well! Those waves are gorgeous! We all know you kill every look, but danggggg

Samson Gordon: The second you dunked the wig i knew the lace would get dyed and was worried it would ruin the wig. you can cover the lace in vasaline to protect it!

Lil Pink: You can protect the lace from dying with Vaseline or hair gel with hair spray.

Lisa Jennings: I dye clothing a lot because I make custom clothes out of thrift store finds that are not always in the colors I like. The dye you used is meant for mostly natural fabrics. Rit make a special dye that works with synthetic materials. It is called "Synthetic Rit Dye More Liquid Fabric Dye" and it is available in most places they sell their all purpose dye including Amazon. You would get the result you were shooting for with that dye. P.S. You look just lovely in this video! <3

Lyssa Moura: I did dye a wig this way !!! But didn't follow these directions... I did it the way I normally dye clothes... I boil water, then I add VINEGAR to make the dye set in... You soak the wig or in your case the part of the wig you want the darkest in the part the longest. I would then, do the ombre part, next... And so forth ❣️ The ONLY major change I personally would make is not putting in the dish soap at all... Soap dilutes the color... And I also rinsed with COLD WATER!!! I HOWEVER WAS DYEING A WIG BURGUNDY & IT TURNED OUT ABSOLUTELY AMAZING ❣️ GOOD LUCK & I WILL CONTINUE WATCHING NOW... ALOHA FROM HAWAI'I LYSSA

AliceInWonderland-17: Love you, hope you're doing well! Your hair looks amazing and I can't wait to see what happens with this wig in the future!

BeckyBooBish: Hi Honey! You look lovely and your roots have grown out so much. Love your videos and thank you for the help on dying synthetic wigs. Your videos help me so much on my hair journeys and experiments. Thank you.

Allison Ace: Thank you so much for the tip about using fabric softener to soften a wig! I recently got a wig and the ends are kinda like rougher ( like it was styled and the ends melted) than the top so I might try it!

Jennstaah: Omg you are giving us the content that we always need. You’ve inspired me to get into wigs ❤️ now that I started a new job I’ll be buying one next paycheck :)

Lemon: I haven't been watching her long at all but she's the only person I can watch do these types of things

Kristina Friendly: I absolutely love this look on you simple natural beauty

J: Love this video!! Thank you for always giving us great content!!

Tiffany Turner: I love the colour of the wig now .. you can get the pigment to be super bright if you have the wig in the dye with no dish soap & have it in a pot boiling on the stove , the water has to be boiling hot in order for it to work properly .. I’ve dyed 3 different blonde wigs with the Rit Dye , I got purple , mint / lime green & one that’s orange .. do not put dish soap in there with it & make sure the water is on the stove boiling .. the wig won’t melt it’ll be fine :)

Torii H.: omg I been pondering for a year if this would work and u came through as always QUEEN!!!!

Cindi Noonan: I’m about to do this myself and am here to grab your advise before miss wiggins takes the plunge into the dye bath!! Thank you!!

Victoria beck: the soft curls on you are so pretty I’m absolutely loving your videos

Annie Farr: I’d love if you did a video testing different semi permanent red dyes

Moderate_rican_80: O yes please please do more synthetic wig dye videos because I’m a broke bitch and I only can afford to buy synthetic. And I have a blonde one and I would love to figure out how to dye it.

Tengoku_斉藤: When I used the dyemore I added dove fabric softener and it took very well

Jenn Thelen: I really thought you were on to something with the Rit dyes ... it definitely looks toned and almost looks like a shadow root with the darkness inside the wig very interesting experiment!!

Kashia Ewer: Doll owners everywhere giggling. Rit synthetic dyes work great.

lmao dee dee: YOU NEVER MISS LOVE THESE VIDS

Rachel Clemenes: I did this years ago with clip in extensions ( my hair was bright red) For it to work you do have to leave it in there for a hour or so

Dedlyniteshade: I used rit on one of my synth wigs but I only used a lil bit of boiling water an left it in over night an it took the colour really well

Caroline Crockett: This dye really needs heat to work. I've used it to upcycle old dresses and you really need to do it on the stove top

Ashley Rose Vlogs: I just recently learned how to dip dye/tone extensions. I was mesmerized.

Willow Ashnola: You can also try alcohol ink or sharpie (but sharpie smells pretty rank!)

aproch02: Graphite is not black, definitely dark grey with blue undertone. Been using it for clothes recently. And the high water temp is key.

John Sailor Secret in Distress: You can use the purple one to tone blonde hair. It toned it grey silver

Amor Desdémona: I have used sharpie to dye a shadow root on a synthetic wig. It works well and doesn't wash off

Jodie Fox: Defo use the dye un -diluted! reckon that would work really well. Love experimenting like this. Awesome vid as per xx

Dennielle Pollock: Oh my God your hair is looking gorgeous you know it always does but it's just I don't know I think it's the to from pieces I know you've had them for a while but something today I would like a extra pillow and I can't wait to find out if this really works or not I haven't even started watching the video yet going to watch it now

Kaskus: I think you can use ink on synthetic wigs to "stain' them more so then dye them.

Aydree Ramos: If you soak it in hot water with fabric softener for about an hour it will be soft and not tangle

Alexa Fleming: It would be so cool to do straight dye tips but

Lisa Smith: Thanks so much for your content! From the uk x ♥

Honestly Allison: Love your hairstyle in this video

Lindsay Jarvis: WHAAAAAT I've been dying to see someone do this!

Breanna Johnson: I wonder if sharpies can dye a synthetic wigs tips? I remember the fabric softener trick from when I had Barbies.

Sophie: I was literally trying to find videos on this yesterday , thank you thank you thank you!

Tiffany Decknadel: Wait what? I didn't know you could dye synthetic wigs with rit dye? Can you not dye synthetic wigs with regular hair dye or semi-permanent dye?

Klara Floricic: Take a shot every time Aislinn says synthetic!

Sophie H.: Alexa Poletti has a tutorial on dyeing synthetic wigs!

Christee Kimmel: If you use an indigo or violet Rit dye in hotter water it tones the blonde beautifully with no green tint

Rosy Haas: you should use purple rit dye and see if it tones it!!

Oh Contraire: It's not the dilution that's the problem - it's the HEAT!! you need a higher temperature to get a deeper colour, i do mine on the stove in a MASSIVE industrial-size catering pot and feel like a cartoon witch, cackling over my pot of suspicious liquid and hair

Jez: Drinking game: Take a shot every time she says synthetic

Sarah Downs: what neon pink would you recommend that isn't too hard to get out of hair?

Jackie Brady: Love your videos hope you had a good weekend

Ashley: Are those your clip in extensions or did you do new tape ins? Excited for this video!!❤️❤️

Wendy Saunders: Okay so I've been dying wigs and synthetic wigs for probably about 5 years now and using the red dye will stain it just like it did but you got to go by the rit Dye that says for synthetic on it it's just new it's only been out the last year I believe and it looks just like the same guy that you bought but it'll have synthetic written on it and you probably got to ask for it when you go in the store so they'll take you straight to it cuz sometimes it's not right where all the other clothing dies are it's where the synthetic diet is and make sure it says synthetic and your best off is taking it and putting it with a little hot water in a spray bottle and the whole bottle and spring it all over the wig and then letting it sit overnight and then washing it and cold water with fabric softener the next day

Galaxy gal: Yey I’m so excited! Another video of yours!

Kaitlin Harre: So how did you end up holding it when you were trying to just do the ends? Did open it up or hold it straight up and down?

Wendy Gray: I love you and your videos. What do you put on your hair to protect it when you go swimming?

Kellyfish: 97% Isopropyl Alcohol and sharpies is how i dye my synthetic wigs for cosplay!

EmeriJillian: Put Vaseline or hair spray on your lace before dying it

Lil Pink: I would love to see summer sunset hair im thinking pinks oranges and yellows ?

Jasmine Harper: You can use regular dye and the water color method (what you did here basically)

Brinney Mvnster: Does anyone have any recommendations for synthetic wigs on Amazon? I wanna dye one a dark grey

Creton Kennedy: Funny that you post this today cause I just tried this yesterday with blond crochet braids I wanted to dye pink... it's kenekelon hair so pretty plasticy also, and it also just toned it, it's more of a beigy blond now... oh well ‍♀️

JoHanna: You can try alcohol inks. I heard that might work

Amber Pixie: You can buy synthetic fabric dyes I belive

Lau Serravite: What if you left it in the water+dye overnight? Would it grab more colour? Bc the ends were there for longer and it's a bit darker right?

Izland Asia: Cosplayer dying wigs so fun

Alexis Levine: Hear me out... Purple rit dye to tone the wig

acidflxwer: Is there any way to get the links for the Amazon wigs you got that did coke human hair? ❤️❤️

Georgia Sam: First and absolutely love you! Thank you for everything!

BS: I think the dye is activated with the hot water

Lisa M: It's better to boil it during the process. The hotter the better

Heather Slinkard: I have dyed synthetic hair extensions with alcohol ink!!

P Beth: Maybe mix a little fabric softener and water and spray the ends? I use that for my kids barbies when the hair gets tangled

Its Los: Wonder if like Sharpie would work

Sir Animosity: Take a shot every time she says “synthetic wig”

LINDEN HARTNELL PINK: Yayyy I love it xx

Joanna Uppin: Camille has a video on dying a synthetic wig

Lil_ Redhead: Black permanent sharpie with a tad of conditioner of the ends and see if it stays

Raelyn Kerr: But wait...where's that shirt from?

Lugui Dubiela: maybe the water should be warmer, it probably cooled down too much

Rachel: Try alcohol ink!

Mawmaw makeup: I've seen ppl use ADORE with water and dip it.

Robin Winters: omggg where is that moth shirt from??

Noëlle Beebs: Please respond ** what’s the easiest red to get out of hair? I don’t care if it fades quickly, I just don’t want it to be awful to remove when it’s time to get rid of it

Jewel Nickerson-Smith: Am I crazy or did your insta story just show you with your roots finally bleached? I can't access the story anymore though.

DJOODI: I am never surprised about how addicted you are with your hair dyeing.

Rhonda Ward: Water temp supposed to stay hot not cool off

Jasmine Harper: Check out Arnell Armon wig dye videos ❤️

Rachael Smith: I want to see you ginger so bad

Moderate_rican_80: Pink or purple
