Many of you all like my hairstyles and colors so in this video I'm going over the basic guidelines in regards to the main line of colors. Keep in mind if you see any of the numbers mentioned combined with a "/" in between the numbers then that means they are mixed. Most wig companies go by the same color chart and number combinations. Well, hello: everybody welcome back for another video. Allow me to adjust my camera all right, so i think that looks good right there. So hello welcome back for another video in today's video i'm going to be going over something that i don't think has really been talked about on youtube, at least in the crosstracking community, and that is how to choose a hair color. So hair colors come in a wide variety of you know, colors that you can choose from it's really all up to you. Like i said my videos are just to guide people. You can choose whatever color you want, so when it comes down to it, i think it's important to stay within a safe range. If you are somebody who cares about the natural look so, for example, i'm going to start from like dark, colors and work my way up to light now a disclaimer. I cannot find a black wig that i have you all might recall watching a video probably like about a month ago, month or so ago, i was wearing like a long sleeve fitted purple dress with like a long curling dark wig. If you want to go back to that video for reference, let's, let's start there, that color is 1b 1b means off black in the way community 1b means. Can you kind of get like an off black, which is kind of like on that? Not so shiny side of the black spectrum, if you want black hair get color one color one in the wig world is often referred to as jet black jet black is very, very dark, with a very shiny pigment to it. So those are the two colors for blacks that you want. You start off with the one at jet, black or 1b, which is off black. Like i said off, black doesn't really have like a dark, sheen or texture, but it's still a black color. Now you are going to see me reach forward to cut off my camera, it's just easier on my editing to just pause. It change the wig or outfit and then just resume. So, let's go on to the next shades, moving away from the blacks, so this color that you see right here. This is color four. This is just a neutral brown. It may look like it has highlights, but it really doesn't it's just how the light hits it. Color 4. Is your medium, neutral brown color, that's pretty much. What this color is. Let me show you exactly what it looks like on me alright, so this is wig. Color number four: this is your neutral brown. You can see, there's really nothing to it, not really like a lot of pigment. This is a very, very safe color that i recommend personally, if you're somebody who likes the natural look, i think wig color number. Four. Is your best bet, because this is neutral? It goes with your brows. It goes with pretty much any like skin tone and eye makeup, and this is just a safe bet. Color for neutral brown dash medium brown, people label it either or depending on the company, but yeah. This is really a safe color. You know, i think it's a pretty good color for somebody who is new. Somebody who wants a natural look but doesn't know where to go, and this is a lace front wig by the way i don't know, if you all, can really see that probably not but yeah. This is a lace front wig in wig color number four. So, let's move on to an even lighter tone that still looks natural that i think would be good for beginners and just for anybody really that's trying to choose a safe color. So let's get into that one all right. So this is wig color number, six wig color number six. It is a very very light. Brown looks almost red, but it's brown. This is number six in the wig world. This is the color that gives you an even lighter brown, as you can see. Compared to this one see the color difference, it's a very, very big difference, even though the numbers are not that far apart, it's still a big difference, so yeah, let's put this on, so you can see what this color looks like. So here it is wet. Color number six, this very very light. Brown tone is also a safe bet for those of you who don't know where to start or if you're, just looking for something new. This is also a really good color. As you can see, it complements um pretty much like like light skin tones very very well. I don't. I hope that doesn't come off in a rude in a rude or mean way but yeah. This is a color, that's kind of safer for, like the more so like, lighter skin tones. You know um, just because of how light the pigment of the hair is. You know you kind of want something. That'S on the neutral side that is safe. Now the lighter you go at least my rule of thumb. The lighter you go, the more lighter your skin should be. It just helps. Wig colors look better on someone when they go well with the skin tone. The darker tones of hair go good with the neutral and lighter tones, as well as the darker tones as well. So that's just something to keep in mind while i'm on this topic. So yes, this is number six. Usually this is called light brown or a light chestnut brown, and this is what it looks like from every angle, so yeah this is another safe bet, another safe color for you all to choose from now. What i want to do. I want to go over something that a lot of my fellow crossdressers do tend to go with and hey it's cool um. If you want to do this, this is all you, but this isn't really a color that i really recommend but we're going to get into the blonde tones yup. This is actually a lace front wig by bobby boss as well. I can't remem. I can't remember the name, but i mainly got this tour with my sarah sanderson costume because it fits the service anderson look but yeah, so i'm going to go over the colors of these blonde tones. So let's get right into that all right. So i have a gun blonde, and here it is so when you're looking at blonde tones, you will notice that the most basic color that you see like this color, for example, is 6. 13. 613. Is your base blonde tone where it's neither too dark or too light? So if you are looking for blonde tones, try to go with the 6 13 range, because that's just how they place the colors with the numbers when it comes down to wigs so 613 gives you this kind of like neutralish in the middle blonde. That isn't anything too crazy and like two bleach blonde or two dirty blonde. You know this is color 613. This is just what it looks like and yeah. So this is the color. If you're going to go blonde, i would recommend this one just because it's kind of on the safe side so yeah. This is what it looks like now we're going to go over my new wig and my new personal favorite, along with my personal favorite color. So, let's go so here! I am back in my original wig color, so this color, this color is called 427 427. Is what gives you that medium brown, like i said at the beginning of the video white color 4 - is that medium darkish brown? So with that 27 and something when you see the 4-27 or numbers that are that are separated by like dashes, that means that you're going to have highlights in the wig color. So, for example, this is 4-27 and this is that medium dark brown, with these kind of dark. How like? How can i put this with these lightish dark brown highlights. So that's what the 27 is in the wig world. The 27 means that you get these highlights into the wig. You know, that's that's what that means now i do have well. I had another wig long time ago, back in the early days of youtube, where it was like a long dark brown wig with the side. Sweat, bangs and with highlights in them something to keep in mind is that you can also go with a 4-30. The 4-30 is very similar to this 4-27, but the 4-30 gives you highlights that are a little bit in the honey blonde range. This is just kind of like a lighter brown with these highlights, because it's the 27 color the 30 color is like honey. Blonde highlights very, very similar, but yet so different, you know so these these are all of the white colors that i personally recommend. If you want to just play it safe or just look natural um, then re-watch this video, because i list all the numbers, what the numbers mean for the colors and, like i said, if you see dashes in there, it means that you're going to have highlights mixed Into your base, color, so one more thing that i want to say is that another color that i've been looking at is called 99j 99j is when you get the tones of burgundies and dark reds. The 99 j color will give you those. I had a wig a long time ago that color it was okay, but i just didn't like the style of it, but i might get one in that color soon so yeah. If you want to look it up, 99 jane that'll, be your burgundies, so yeah. I hope you all enjoyed the video hope you all liked it. When I had my own long thick dark hair in the 70s - 90s I never had to worry about wigs but now that my hair is much greyer and not so "young" wigs are the thing. Lighter hair color seems to make my face look lighter and smoother and even younger but that may only be my imagination. When you're my age any help is welcome! The platinum or yellowish look is a definite no no so the more basic looks the best way to go.

Kevin Farley: I always went for a brown wig close to my natural hair colour, although I like long styles I would usually wear a shorter style when going out. I did have blonde wigs which I would wear for fun.

Claudio Rodrigues Caco: Dear Paola, I can also talk about wigs, because for several years I wore wigs, except in the summer in my city, because here the heat is so much that it feels like I'm in a microwave. I wore a red, black wig like you used in this video and a light brown wig with blonde highlights that I love. In October 2013 I let my hair grow out and after 5 or 6 years my hair had grown so much that if I let it grow any longer it would go down to the floor as it was halfway down my body length. From last year to this year I had a lot of stress in my life and the hair started to fall out and even trying to treat the problem the hair kept falling out and so I decided to cut it a little and I left it on the length of my shoulders.

Jon: This is very helpful. To me, choosing a wig is probably the most difficult part of obtaining a female look. I have not yet had the chance to get one, and it is quite intimidating. I would think it is even more difficult for those of us who are redheads, since that is a difficult color to mimic. Does one have to go high-end to get a wig with a color that works well for natural redheads? In this video, the number 6 one you show, while light brown, may possibly work. I realize that a wig does not have to match natural hair color, but I will need to keep the very light redhead skin tone in mind. Choosing a wig color + a style = intimidating. Fortunately, you have this and earlier wig-related videos that offer some guidance.
