Hey everybody, it's alyssa and today i'm doing a hair tutorial, because obviously my hair is not brown anymore. It is this bright crimson, reddish color, and it's really really pretty and i'm really happy with how it came out and as you can see, the top is very bright. Then it kind of goes dark and then it goes light again and it's because my roots were grown into about right here and the bottoms of my hair were dyed blonde. So i'm going to show you guys the products that i used and i'm going to show you how i did it and hopefully it'll help you guys if you want to get this color as well. So i bought a couple of products at sally's beauty supply and it was around 30, but that's only because i got a discount because my aunt works there. So obviously, first i'm going to show you guys the color that i bought so um. This is mainly the color that, like everyone, uses to get red hair, and this is the l'oreal technique. High color highlights for dark hair and i bought two bottles. I bought the magenta and i bought the red. So i bought these to mix together, and that is what i did so, as you can see it's for dark hair. Only and i didn't have dark dark hair, but i had, i guess, dark brown hair and then the bottoms of my hair were kind of like a light brown. So um. If you had blonde hair, you probably um, wouldn't have to use like a strong developer or anything, i'm not really sure, but it's for dark hair. So if you have black hair or dark brown, it'll lift it a couple of colors make it really bright red. So it says it's a high lift in 30 minutes and there's no pre-lightening, so you don't have to use bleach to get this bright red color. I don't know if this um has any bleach in it. It probably does considering it's making your hair a lot lighter than it is. This is obviously lightening your hair in some way, so it could be damaging. I don't know i just got my hair cut, so it felt pretty good after i did it next. I bought 30 volume developer and this is the l'oreal brand as well um. I bought this because it was the recommended developer on the box. I could have probably done 20 and gotten more of a darker color, but um. If you have really dark hair, then get 30. If you have lightest brown hair, you could probably get 20 and it'd be less damaging, but i just got what was recommended on the bottle, because i wasn't really sure what to do - and this was the 16 fluid ounce one, and it was only like five dollars And the other one was eight ounce and it was like three dollars, so i recommend just getting the big bottle, so you can just like keep it and use it for the next time. You dye your hair. The next two things i bought were a bowl and a brush, and i didn't really use the brush that much because i kind of suck at like doing that. I don't know, but the bowl has like measurements in it. So i just use that to measure out my developer and everything and it worked out really good, so these were really really cheap at sally's and you're going to need this to mix up the color anyway. Do not use a metal bowl to mix your color because it'll make it develop very, very fast. Next, i bought some reusable latex gloves because you don't want your hands turning red, you don't want your hands like blood red, so gloves, and then i bought a deep conditioning treatment that i used after i dyed my hair, which i will show you in a separate Clip of how i did it and then i bought these uh quantum riveting red shampoo conditioner, that's what it looks like um. These are quite expensive. These were like 10 bucks each, and this is only the um 10.2 fluid ounce bottles. There was a bigger bottle. That was like 20 a piece, so these are pretty expensive but they're pretty much needed. If you want to keep your hair alive and well, i haven't used it yet, but it's a color depositing shampoo. So i don't know if you could see, but the shampoo and conditioner itself is red and every single time you wash your hair, it will put red back into your hair to keep it lasting longer. I don't recommend using this every single time you wash your hair because it'll dry out your hair, but i do recommend using a um, sulfate-free shampoo conditioner, if you're not using something that'll um put the color back in, because sulfate will just strip out your color really Really fast now, let's get started on how i actually did it. So, as you can see, my hair is actually really short. It'S like to my shoulders, so i didn't really like use that much so as like i said before, i bought red and magenta and i wanted kind of a pinkish red. I don't know if you can really tell it kind of, has a pinky tone to it. Not really, but it's not as like bright like clown red, because i didn't want that. I wanted kind of a darkish red how it is in the middle right here is kind of how i wanted my whole head, but it ended up being really bright at the roots. It'S not as bad in person as it looks on camera. I promise you, but i still think it looks kind of cool, but i took um half of the red and half magenta, because my hair short. So if your hair is pretty long to about right here, you're probably going to need to use the whole bottle. Um and if your hair is like longer than that, you probably have to do two bottles of each each bottle. Itself is 1.2 fluid ounces and the developer. Color ratio is one to two. So i mixed half of this in half of this, which equaled a whole bottle of 1.2, so i used 2.4 ounces of developer in my bowl and there's going to be videos and stuff playing um. So you guys can see. I just measured out the developer. I poured that in first and then i mixed half of the magenta and half of the red. I used a lot. I used a little bit more than half of magenta only because i wanted it to be more of a pinkish red than a red red. So i used a little bit more than half of magenta and every single time i would add more magenta. I would just add a little bit of developer just so it would mix well and it came out a really pretty color and it looked really nice. So next i just parted out my hair. I parted it from like here up and i just started like applying the hair dye from the bottom with my brush and i really really suck at applying hair dye because i usually use a bottle. I just shake all the color of my bottle and just kind of score it on my head, but i have a recommendation, especially if you have color treated hair, is to put the color on your ends first and then wait 20 minutes and then for the next 20 minutes put it on your roots because you will get hot roots like i did and they're a lot brighter than the rest of your hair, because obviously that's new growth and your virgin hair is going to soak up that color really really fast. So that's what happened to me because i really i really suck at applying hair dye, because i start applying it to right here and i can't get all of it. So i just kind of like just keep going and going and then i just end up touching my roots somehow, so that's just what happened, but i don't really mind it. So i just applied it to my entire head and i let it sit for 30 minutes, which is what it says on the bottle. Some people leave it on for longer if they want a brighter color, which i think this came out bright enough. So but if your hair is dark like black or really dark brown, then i recommend keeping it on for maybe 40 45 minutes. If your hair is a blondish light, brown keep it on for 20 minutes. So that's basically all i did and i waited that 30 minutes and then i took a shower and i rinsed my hair with cold water like try to get it as cold as you can bear it. I it was freezing cold for me because our hot water stopped working at my house, so i had to take a cold shower anyway, but the water was really really cold and i rinsed it out because hot water strips the color a lot faster, just letting you Know so do not use shampoo when you're rinsing it out. Okay, because the hand people just make your color go away, but i do recommend getting aids like deep conditioning or a after color conditioning treatment. I got an eye on one which i will show the clip of what it looks like. I got an eye on deep conditioner and i just like scrubbed the conditioner into my hair and all over my ends. I put it up in a ponytail while i was in the shower and i let it sit for five minutes. It was probably a little bit more than five minutes, and then i took it down and rinsed it all out, and it keeps your hair really soft and it makes your hair feel really great. I just did this last night, so my hair is still feeling really soft and clean. As you can see, it's pretty shiny so that deep conditioning treatment is a must. You don't want to like rinse it out and then immediately use like this color stuff. You don't need to use this immediately after you dye your hair, like wait a week at least to use this to replenish your hair. Don'T immediately put more color on it um after i rinsed it out. It came out this color, so um when i first took it out of the towel. I was really scared, because all i saw was my hot roots and i was like oh my gosh, i'm gon na be a clown, but it actually looks a lot better dry than it does wet and all the links for all of these products will be down Below in case, you want to buy them, i do recommend going to the store to buy these products, though, because um it's a lot pricier on the sally's website than it actually is in the store. So i hope you guys enjoyed this tutorial. I hope it helped. You and i hoped um you get the color that you want and hopefully it'll come out a little bit like mine, and i will see you guys in my next video

Ciara Diamond: I've been dying my hair red for about 6 months now. The first time I got it done professionally, and since then I've touched it up myself. I've tried everything (Splat, Manic Panic) and I tried this process last night. The results are AMAZING! Way more vibrant and obviously red than what I did before. Thank you!!!

Taylor Murphy: weird to say, but this hair dye was my absolute favorite for my hair! I used this hair dye in the color magenta from my 8th grade year to junior year in high school and never had any damage and plus it smells good too lol. Btw, the color looks great on you

christy r: it's called "hot roots". you should always do previously dyed hair first, then put it on your roots for around 10-15mins after it's been on the rest of your hair for about 10-15mins.

CandyFairy16: I definitely wanna try those two colors mixed together next time I dye my hair. I went with a regular red not the hi color. I either do the dark intense red blonde ion color or the medium intense red blonde but this time I tried this shade called light burgandy blonde and I like it. All those look like a low key normal natural red but I do eventually wanna go a little redder like yours and try out a mix of magenta and red in hi color cuz I really like that shade.

Rhonda Callejas: Luv your hair! Btw I just wanted to tell ya a tip instead of buying the expensive colored shampoo and conditioner, you can buy a cheap sulfate free shampoo and conditioner (I usually buy the Biosilk shampoo and conditioner the one that is for color treated hair) and I usually have half a tube of the Loreal HiColor Hilights Red left over after dying my hair and i put 1/4 of the tube in the shampoo and 1/4 of the tube in the conditioner after removing just a little bit so the color will fit and shake up the bottles real good and I use that every other washing to keep my color bright and refreshed! I have also have used this technique with other shampoos and conditioner that are sulfate free as well

Spriggan: I use this all the time except i use magenta but i never thought about mixing red and magenta to get that perfect red. I feel like magenta is a bit too dark and red is a bit too orange toned for me but mixing them is such a smart idea. Also love your shirt!

Khadiga etman: red hair looks amazing on you love it ❤️

Katie Zavitz: omg it looks so good on you!! I wish i could pull off a beautiful red colour like that.

Khadiga etman: red hair looks amazing on you love it ❤️

Galaxy Hope: I mixed red and magenta too, to me that's the best shade of red :) my hair was already pre lightened so I used ion semi permanent hair dye :)

Brookelyn Wilson: you are amazing Alyssa at everything you do! ilysm

A Little Wheiser: Loreal HiColor contains peroxide and that is what causes it to lift the dark hair. While it isn't bleach it can still be damaging to your hair. If your hair is bleached (not dark) you don't want to use this for a lift (your hair is already light) and will cause unnecessary damage and stress to your hair. Try using a demi permanent dye that deposits color only and won't damage your hair.

Emily Bland: I think the roots look awesome! With the lighter shades!!

Julia Davis: great video! I've been wanting to dye my hair red without bleaching it, thanks!

Catherine Flynn: You deserve so many more subscribers, you're my favorite person to watch

Kaytlin: it looks so good on you!! (:

lovelylovesyouh: You are the most calmest person ever and I LOVE IT . I love this video , it doesn't stress me to do this like other videos lol other girls over exaggerate, they act so conceited on camera and your just so chill .

Rory: I love you Alyssa!! This helped me so muchh as I'm dying my hair next week

Elizabeth Ernest: i just realized Thats pretty much the same thing i did. back in september i dyed my hair and i mixed the two, the only difference was i used loreal hi color in red, didnt use the hi color highlights. but did get magenta in the hi color hightlights and LOVED the color that came out.

Kathy Caetta: i am going to be dying my granddaughters hair red highlights... I found your video and I loved the video.. very informative.. love your hair color... and you are so friendly and cute on the video.. Hope I am a success and my granddaughter hair turns out to be as cute as yours. Thanks for giving me the confidence... Thank you.

neon zebra: The thing about this product is that the bleach or whatever that is in it is only strong enough to lift virgin hair color. that means if you have never dyed your hair before it will work better. that's why her roots came out brighter.

unicorn princess: This red is everything. It gives me life forreal though! ❤

Miranda Richard: can't wait to do this in the fall

life with victoria: Thanks for this video. I now know how to get my bright red without blonde.

cough drops: I love your hair! It's so pretty!!

Serena Haseley: it looks so good❤

CarmiMl0v3: Love the Permanent Vacation instrumental haha :) Awesome hair!

Jorge Palacios: Ty for the video did my wife's hair she choose dark plum and looks amazing didn't know how long to keep it didn't show on the box

Mia Gilaani: So I decided to dye my hair red and do an ombré look using L’Oréal color hicolor hilights in magenta using 30 volume developer. I kept it on for 35-40 minutes and washed it off. It didn’t color my hair at all and only left a very very very slight tinge of red that can only be visible in the sunlight. What did I do wrong? Also is there is any other brand that I can use without bleaching my hair like this one? (I’m a brunette btw)

Fishnetfreud: I had no idea about what developer to buy along with these, so your video was really helpful. Thank you!

Mia Amethyst: I recently got my hair done red and I'm not happy with the results. The color is really uneven. Has this ever happened to you?Do you think if I tried this it would even out my hair? If I do try it should I put the color were the dark parts are up first?

Dave: Looks very nice on you ☺️

💎 Nicoleta 💎: Love the colour!

Tish G: I have been using the Red hair shampoo and it works very well. I have been using it every time I wash my hair, which is every other day. I do not use the conditioner tho. I was told you didn't really need it. So for conditioner I use the Loreal color conditioner that you can buy at Walmart. It does keep your hair red. I love it and will continue to buy it.

Sadistic Raven: I just recently (a couple of weeks ago) used that magenta color on my hair and extensions, I didn't have any gloves on me and let's just say my nails were red for quite awhile haha

oddrey: ALYSSA I LOVE IT!! SLAY GIRL

Strawberrysunset23: I used that on my blonde and it was like a bright pink lol. but the rest of my dark brown hair came out a beautiful red

Cyanide-No longer making videos: If you have a sally's near you, i recommend getting a hair dye tube key. It makes it easier to get the dye out.

Jordan Elise: Finally a useful tutorial

まきりん: Omg I love your hair and your outfit is really pretty!

Kristina: What you needed to do was put a color remover before you did this color. Always remember color does not lift color! That's the reason you have the dark band in your hair because when you put that hi lift color instead of lighting it ,it darkened it. I have a client that has such damaged hair that when I dye her hair .I have to do her roots then put a semi-permanent on the rest hair. What I do is I do the permanent color on her roots ,then I put the semi color on the rest for 30 mins. When she wants a different hair color I put a color remover, to remove her color. Then I will do her roots for 30 minutes then I will put the permanent color on the rest of her hair and wash it out after 5 minutes. That's the only time I will do the permanent all over ,but I still won't do it the whole 30 minutes because the ends of her hair would turn dark ,and would not match the roots if I was to do that. That's because for years she used nothing but black box that and going between black and blonde hair and it has made her hair porous from the meds down. I think that's what's happened to your hair. It's easy to happen if people keep piling hair color on top of color. Always remove your hair color in, between changing your hair color. You will always get a better result. I think your hair looks cute though!

Fuencaido Tacos: So pretty !!

Melissa Dill: Just a little tip I only paid 16 dollars for the developer and the two boxes of high color dye all and that was on amazon so I recommend going on amazon to buy it instead of Sally's Bc it's the same things but a lot less expensive

Teeko Train: always cut hair AFTER dyeing. since any dye is unhealthy for hair it helps repair some damage when you cut hair, do the damage first, cut and repair last.

Haysalto: Yaaaas permanent vacation and I LOVEEEE your hair!

Maddi Shulman: It looks beautiful! Did your shower look like a murder scene as you were washing it out? Red is notorious for that.

Didii: I use the ISANA Rot Farbglanz Shampoo and it's also red on it's own with Henna. Have no silicones in it, so u can use it everytime!

alibinx19: Hi Alyssa, I bought one box of the Hicolor dye in Red Hot & one box of the Hilights in Red plus some 40 developer. how much do you think I should use of the 40 developer?

FaisyXD: How long does it stay on for?

stephanie johnson: This helped so much!!!!!!

Mitchie. 🤞: Did the price on this dye change? I just did this and I got the huge bottle of developer, 2 boxes of dye, a brush and the dye bottle and it was like 15 with my Sally's card?

Rachel Blain: yoooo we use the same hair dye!!! butt it looks sooo good on you

inex333: I was so disappointed with this hair dye! I'm not sure if I done something wrong... I already had red hair but I wanted to lighten up the shade to something similar to your colour here. I also have thin hair, so I thought that the 20 developer will absolutely suffice. I followed all the instructions and my hair came out even darker red than my usual hair dye. My dream of vivid neon red was demolished!

Hannah G: your hair is so pretty!!!!!

char maine: BEAUTIFUL and I like how the background music is a piano cover of 5sos' Permanent Vacation!!! HOOKED IN THE FIRST 5 SECONDS

Kelli Napier: it looks good love it.. I have done this same color... can't wait for next video....

ThatChick: Does the color eventually fade? Or is it permanent? I really want to dye my curly hair red but only for a few months

Brittany Smoke: I got the dark spots too on my hair and no matter how much I dye its still there what can I do to get rid of it? I recently just bought a box of bleach to try lighten the area.... but havent applied it yet

Kenna Dodd: I just bought the dye and all that, what do you recommend? I want it to be VERY bright like yours. I also my my roots to be bright too.

jentra07: Good video!!! Oh and I love your shirt in the tutorial.. ROLL TIDE ROLL ️

Jennifer Aucoin: How strong is the smell of the hair dye?

Lo: Looks good :)

Trinity Tse: your hair looks like Ariel, it looks really nice :) btw how come you aren't wearing your opalite plugs?

ethereal intoxicated canary: Does this damage hair?

Benjamin Winger: Wow it seems that everyone uses this for red hair and manic panic.

joeyhughess: I loved your ombré hair

Nini catz: That's feet you really well!

Tayzia: I used this on bleached hair lmao it went bright pink. You will not get the same outcome as the box says if you use it on blond hair

Amber L T: I just started watching you love your videos

stephanie johnson: I LOVE IT!!! BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!

Мишел Атанасов: its perfect

Angelika: is it possible to mix red and a brown instead of magenta to get more of a dark burgundy colour?

Purple-Giraffe: How long does the red lady before it fades really bad?

MrAwsomeness: That looks good on you

מיתר שלמה: how long does the color will stay in my hair? does my hair will go back to his original color? sorry about my English

Macy Buchholz: I just got my second peircing in my ear can you give my any tips? I would love that. P.S I did them at home just like you did and there not hurting at all!! Your the best!!✨

abbey ontiveros: So If I Use 2 Boxes Of Dye I Need To Double The Amount Developer?

Kyler DaNeko: Is your hair naturally dark or medium?

Noha M: Did she put double the amount of the dye for the developer ?, like on part dye two parts developer ?

Assala M'aabdi: Can we use any sort revelator ?

Andrea Ramos: wait im confused so if my hair is somewhat blonde/orange its safe to use?
