Hi, you guys welcome back to another hair tutorial, so today i'm going to be showing you a balayage on dark version, hair i'm excited for this, and this also too was requested by some of you on instagram. So i wanted to go ahead and get it out there really quickly. If you are new to my channel, please don't forget to subscribe and also hit that bell button for more videos. But let's go ahead and get this video started. So, starting off, i'm going to be using my goldwell oxycure um bleach and i'm going to be using the dust free with the goldwell 30 volume developer. This is a nine percent and i'm going to be mixing one scoop with developer 35 grams. So the reason why i am using a 30 volume developer is because she does have virgin hair and we want to get her to about at least a level eight, so we can tone her to a level seven. Now, i'm not gon na do an open balayage, because i really don't do that. To be honest with you guys on my clients, i foil a lot. I just feel like when you foil the balayage. It always looks better and it always lifts better as well, and you don't get as much orange in the hair you get a little bit more yellow. So that way you can tone it out, so i'm actually just going to be taking sections going across and i'm going to be weaving out two pieces and they're kind of big. I want this to kind of be a little bit more dimension, all throughout her hair, but yet to where we still can get her light and see those bright pieces all around. So i'm just going to be starting off here in the back, taking these sections and then i'm going to be folding it. Now i'm going to be doing this all the way up the head so, like i said, the goal is to get her to at least a level eight to where she doesn't have that much warmth in her hair being virgin hair. She is going to have some warmth and especially because she's about a natural level, four she's going to have some red and orange. So the reason why i like to get it a little bit more lighter than originally what i'm going for is because i could always tone it down and when you tone it down, i just feel like the color always looks a little bit more better. So let's say, of course i want to get her to level eight, but she wants to be a level six. The color is just going to look a lot more, better and she's not going to have so much orange and natural pigment in the hair. So if your goal is about like a level seven, i would say try to lift to either an eight or a nine that way you could always tone down. I just feel like the color always looks a little bit more better when you do that. Do hmm. So, okay, so now that i'm getting to the crown of the head, i'm actually going to be changing it up. Instead of doing that really thick weave, i'm actually going to be doing baby lights now. The reason why i like to do this is because i feel like when my clients wear their hair straight um. Just me personally, i don't like to see chunky pieces all throughout the hair. I like to see a really good blend, so i feel like when you do baby lights, especially around in this crown area. You'Re going to get a really seamless blend, and it's just going to look better in general. So now that i'm getting to the front hairline and also to around the face, i'm actually going to be doing that same thing like i did. On top, i'm going to be doing some um wheat, like baby lights, kind of very thin, but yet still keep a lot of her hair. Also too, the sectioning is going to get a little bit more smaller as well. So i'm going to kind of in a way doing back to back, as you guys will see - and this is her first time - coloring your hair, so we do want it to look natural. We don't want to go full out right away. This is just like her. First time her first balayage, so now with those baby lights, i just went ahead and did those all the way up on top of the head. Still with that same pattern, just around now, i'm going to be letting her sit for about 45 minutes to almost an hour, and then we will tone her. So she's got about 50, 50, 50 balayage and 50 of her natural hair still out as well. So now for toner i went in with redken shades, eq, 8n, 8v and 6na. Now i went in with both the 8 and 8b equal parts and just a little bit of like 10 grams of the 6na. I also did do a little bit of a root melt kind of in a way just to blend a little bit more better, and i went in with the matrix for ash, and it just made it like a super seamless blend just because she did lift a Little bit warm, but i hope that you guys enjoyed this video. This is the finished. Look. I love the way this came out because she's still got some bright pops in there, but yeah. Also too, it just looks a little bit more natural, especially for her first time, coloring her hair. So i'm super happy that she loved it and i hope that you guys love this video, don't forget to like comment and also subscribe to this channel. If you guys want to follow me on instagram, i will leave it down below and right here, but i will see you guys next time.

guacgirl: This came out so beautiful. She got so light to be virgin. Foils pack the punch, and a good lightener such a good job Ashley

elizabeth fernandez: I love how it came out ! For the the roots, did you use color or toner? If yes which one did you use? Also did you use different colors for roots and tips? Sorry so many questions, but thanks in advance

Nina hernandez: new subbie here! Am in love with how this turned out. I’ve been wanting a balayage .. and I also have virgin hair lol thanks for the inspiration ❤️

SLR Couture: Your videos are by far the best. I’ve watched a million videos but you provide detailed simply steps that aren’t skipped or sped up. Thank you. I’ve been attempting to do this for over a year but was skeptical. I’m ready now thanks to you. I just subscribed.

Jazmin E: I’m a new licensed cosmo & this is one of the easiest video techniques I’ve seen thank you! Keep posting great videos please!

L A: Looks so pretty! Your clients are so lucky to have you

Angela Hagood: Gorgeous! You brought her boring color to life! You are so skilled in color! Keep the videos coming, I learn so much!

T: You’re an amazing stylist and honestly goals! You’re really helping me through all the world problems

Ange C: Very nice I was blonde for the longest time and got tired of it. I’m brunette and love it. But after seeing this, makes me miss the beautiful blonde. You did a great job :)

Angela Monahan: Maybe I'm juvenile, but I couldn't help but smile when she said "more better" 3 times in 30 seconds. But seriously- great tutorial. Very informative & beautiful results!

Angie: Getting my hair done for the first time Monday! So excited after watching this

Pooja Panchal: This looks amazing. I’ve always wanted this hair as I have dark virgin hair but my stylist always makes it super orange at the top then it fades to the grayish blonde.

Diana M Colon: I love your work, thank you so much for making these videos. Love learning from you!

GlamBy Marybelle: Im so happy I found you on YouTube! You have helped me so much . Thank you!

marianasbeauty18 mm: Your videos are so educational I just graduated from cosmetology school and got my license. Your videos have helped so much when it come to color.

Iris Trejo: You are amazing Ashley! Could you possibly do a video on tips on how you handle the teasing out of hair when shampooing or products used after to avoid a lot of tangles

Lydz Mdz: Hiii Ashley!! Love all ur videos!!♡ What level of lift do u do on ur hair and what toner do u use?? Love ur hair

bechu Segovia segovia: Me encanta tus técnicas. Mi primer balayage que hice fue mirando tus videos y me salio fabuloso. Lastima que hables Inglés y yo no entienda nada jaja pero igual me sirvió mucho. Saludos desde Argentina

lachicacumbiambera: That’s a beautiful color on her..u did amazing!

phanny noon: Love your work ! I can finally learn how to do a balayage and ombré !

Karen Romero: Her hair came out amazing! You did phenomenal! What ethnicity is the client? She has a lot of hair but it appears her hair is medium course level. I know Hispanic people have thick hair usually all around and it takes awhile to lift. On the other hand, Asians and Middle Easterners also have thick hair, but their hair lifts quicker and easier than Hispanics. So I wanted to know if ethnicity made a difference on lifting.

Tiffany Amber: Hiii! Love your work & all your videos! Is there anyway you can go over for other stylists that are looking to become independent, the process & licenses required when getting a studio etc? Please & thank you in advance

𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐞: getting my hair done like this in a few weeks, so excited

Suong Tran: That’s beautiful Ashley how long it takes you for the whole process? Thanks

Kinza Abro: Wow the result looks amazing!! I also have virgin hair and going to get a balayage soon. But I am worried about after effects of hair dye . I don’t want to get my hair much damaged please suggest something :(

anhelica: i’m currently trying to get something almost exactly like this except more thicker of the highlights. but i have no idea how to tell a hairstylist since i haven’t gotten my hair dyed ever before.

Dsouzaprasanna: Awesome technique....loved the colour

Claire Masson: Came out beautiful

Tammy Hoffman: Great work!!! You are like the long hair guru!

lupe arroyo: Love your videos..!! I like when you show the toners you use am still trying to understand the redken toners.. i would love a fall colors that everyone is asking for

Mely Muñiz: Love this!!! What makes you decide on what lightener you will be using on your client?

Michelle Anderson: Beautiful!!! Thank you so much♥️

greg johnson: Have you ever tried Colorcharm T18? If you apply and watch closely it will tone out your “warm” shades and gently ash the hair. Don’t leave it more than a few minutes or you’ll have purple to grey hair. Works like a charm.

Ellie Johnson: Why blow that cuticle wide open and push it to a 8-9 when you are going for a level 7? Why not gently lift it to a 7 and tone out the brassiness, less damage to the hair? Idk just a thought…Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

veronicanailpolish: What does 'freehanded painted technique' mean when looking for a balayage service? Does that mean they use foils like you recommended? This will be my first time going to get my hair done - balayage. Thanks.

desiree chagoya: Beautiful work! I was wondering if you could do a salon equipment video for stylists? What are your favorites or go to equipment as in combs, foils, brushes, clips, etc? I love seeing inside peoples stations. Lol

Maria Theresa Gonzalez: Hi love your video, would you be able to list down the chemicals you have used step by step? Thank you so much for an inspiring video❤️

Mayra Aldana: Hey girl may i ask whats your foil placement/technique? I feel i always struggle with balyage. I notice for the most part you tease but you weave big pieces and slice am i right?? Thank you for your videos they have helped me so much!

Decore Ideas: Love your videos, thanks for sharing amazing work. I noticed your hair color and love it could you share what formula you use for your hair color

shara shahouni: Why is every professional hairstylist cutting off on the money piece! you did a great job, teasing action was great, the front is probably the most important piece. Would love another video, concentrating the frontal piece. Much love

AJ: WOW! A true work of art!

greenie covartel: i love this! great job

Deysi !: Just found you and have learned so much from you!!! Question do you have any videos of you doing your own hair?

Elizabeth Macias: Absolutely Beautiful!!!

samani: this is what i’m getting done in a week i’m so so excited

jennifer del villar: What foils are you using? They look perfect for long hair! Thank you in advance.

Yonah Haddad: Gorgeous hair and great work! Wish I had thick luscious hair like this model. I have thin european style hair.

Tim Schulze: Did you pull out the first sections first or all in one go? I do open air highlights most of the time and rinse all in one go, as I hate going back and forth. Sometimes I’ll start with 20 vol and go up to 30, but in most cases I’ll do it in one

Ruby Zermeno: Thank you for this amazing video!!! Question, can you do a video on timing and pricing????

karina herrera: Wow!!! You did an incredible good love!!!! ❤️

Keyri Velasquez: How do you brush out the teasing? Before you wash it or after ?

Ziv Benigoyev: 6:09 love the folding !!

Dolce Vita: Great job! Only a handful of stylists can pull that lift on a level 4.

Charlotte Kelly: This is gorgeous wow

Gigi A: Hey what brand comb are you using ?it looks like it teases really well

General Yen: Hey, u are very excellent at that I'm overly ashed out w/lite strawberry; just trying to get a light bronze brown highlight against my dark Mexican hair.

Marisela Lopez: Beautiful like always

Yvette Chaboya: Hi there! Just saw this video. Did you pull the root melt all through the dark ends you? It looks like it’s lighter all the way down. Thanks! Love your work!

Susan Kinsey: When doing this technique, if you use half the foils on the sides and top, it pops more like a balayage, To me this is a full teasy light

Kelly: Can you start mentioning how long it takes you to do your clients? As in foiling, applying and/or the whole service. I am really iffy and discouraged about my timing and I think it would be helpful to know how long things usually take you. Thank you :) your videos have taught me so much!!

Marilene Luna: Parabéns lindo

BearCee75: I need help and advice! I went in the salon wanting a balayge with a blondish tone. After 4+ hours the results were not anything like the picture i showed girl. It almost looked like highlights some coppery. I left salon thinking this was a single process. After I returned to have girl correct the copper, brassy tones.. she told me that I still needed to make another appointment to achieve the look I had originally showed her on day 1. I paid $249 for this "balayage" so why wasnt I told to come back to continue finishing it. I was just told to come back to touch up my greys!! I need answers from professional on here. I feel like i got ripped off and not what I wanted.

foreverariiana: Question from a current cosmo student, why do you consider this a 'balayage highlight' and not a 'teasylight with a shadow root/root melt/root tap(depending on the amount of root left out)?' To my understanding a balayage is natural hand painting with an organic hand blended diffused line but I see you used the teased area as your soul blending agent. How do they differ for you and what is the difference in the price you charge for the two services? Im thinking about renting a salon suite after graduating as well as working as an assistant part time to futher my education before fully stepping out on my own, any tips/ advice? Sorry I have hella questions lol and love what you're doing girl!

Sawol ♡︎: I’m getting my hair done most likely in April lol

Jason: It’s gorgeous the look

Mitralize: How many hours did this take?

HUSKY GIRL LOLA: Very pretty . Great job !!!!

Jason: Wow!! It’s gorgeous!! Was the bleach level she got at level 8? So was she using 8 level toner? This is useful the video for me..

Romy Lete: Hi Ashley I'm new in your channel, and I really love your work, I'm not a stylist, but I want to try at home by miself, I have a question, how long you left the toner? and if I have dark hair like your client, the toner change the roots too?? or I have to apply a diferent colour first?, Thanks for your time! Take care and keep it up!

Ruby Rodriguez: I love your work but I’m wondering about YOUR hair! I love the color, did you do it yourself?

Sierra Wilson: hey guys! so i was wondering how long would it take to get brighter to black??

Tiffany Valle: So freaking Beautiful !!! Where do you get your long foils from ?

Maira Khan: Amazing I just subscribed your channel.i am ready to do my hair exactly the same way you did and with same products.thanks a million to share this vedio as I have black hair and I want highlights..could you please tell me how much redken colours you used equall amount how many grams?

Tasmina Amin: how much would this cost? I'm thinking of this because it kind of looks like highlights

Elizabeth Mokrzycki: Beautiful!!

erika blanc.: do you need to put base color first, or is it okay to just straight with the highlights?

Katrina H: There is no reason to lift past the desired level. The entire point of toner is to combat the issues you’re explaining. Lifting higher than desired just causes unnecessary damage.

Pranjal Accha: Please put a detailed video on toning of hair. Thank you

Yen Miralles: Super love it!!!! Can you do this to my hair pls??

Annie Varvaris: Beautiful

Maygreen Zar Ri: So talented...and kind heart to show your skills

Kelly Lopez: I want to get a balayage and I have black hair. I’ve never done anything to it like highlights or bleaching it. But what would the average cost for to get a balayage for the first time? It would really be helpful to know. :) bc I’m thinking about doing this, it would be something new to my hair.

Sandra Lacayo: Hi Ashley, when you applied the toner , you applied in wet hair or dry hair? And where you buy those toner ?

Yury Acosta: My 11 year daughter wants highlights however she is too young to dye her hair what age do you recommend?

Isabel Morillo: I would love to see how you apply the tone

Becca Lynn: About how long did this take you to do and what did you charge

Rosa Martinez: I always do this sectioning but did you just take slices on the sides? And the sectioning was straight? I usually do diagonal back, but I want to try this on a balayage I have this week. I’m just a little scared since I’m new and I’m not a risk taker lol.

Penelope Smith: Wow she took that’s awesome!

Bill Lusby: beautiful!

Rina in London: I like this colour so beautiful

klelix morazan: Please don’t say more better ! Nice balayage .

Nin P: I would have loved to have seen the colour before the toner was applied

Denisse Galvan: Did you use 30v all over? Did it not lift more in the first ones?

Mariana Jimenez: What volume developer did you used ?

EG: Wanted to ask if I can do this at home with the products you showed out?

Alexandria Morales: I have a question how long did it take

Marina Garcia: Very nice work. I do have a question why did you used a 6na and the other ones were 8 . Thanks ashly

poppilindo2012: I want that done to my hair but the lady at the salon said it would take along time and many appointments, I also have dark brown hair short, what was the total time for this?
