Hey guys welcome to my channel or welcome back to my channel. I know it's been a while, but I'm really excited about today's video. If you read the title, you know exactly what's happening, I'm showing you exactly how I touch up my roots and maintain this crazy color at home. A lot of the times going to salons is just a little out of my price range and I can't really justify going to a salon when I know exactly what to do at home. So I figured I would just share my process with you. My favorite part about this is you don't have to use bleach. Naturally, I'm like a level five, which is like really dark brown. So without leach I lighten my roots and it's it's just it's so much healthier for your hair. So I'm really excited to share it with you I'll, be showing you what products I use my favorite brands. What I recommend and stuff like that, so, if you're interested just keep on watching, oh and by the way, an interesting disclaimer. If this video seems a little bit shoddy with the editing it's because it is, I actually filmed this entire video yesterday and I had lipstick teeth, like literally just lipstick, like all over my teeth for like one third of the entire video. So that's why, if you see some clips with your lipstick here and there, you know we're just never going to talk about it so on let's get started so the first thing you guys will need is quite obvious: you're gon na need two mixing bowls and two Hair brushes the reason I use two and not the same one is because you just don't want to cross-contaminate the color and, like a risk, messing it up. So just don't do that next you'll need one of these little measuring cups in ounces. You can get these at Sally's or pretty much any hair supply store ever and then, of course, you'll need the hair color, which is going to be the matrix formulas and so color and color sink and HDC. Are you also need to pick up the matrix ten volume developer and the 30 volume developer? Okay? So I'm starting off with the so color you can remember which one goes where, because so color is so permanent and we always put permanent color on our roots. So I'm just going to open this up. This is a fresh bottle. I haven't opened it yet I'm just gon na penetrate it with the cap. Oh it's coming out and then we're gon na go ahead and empty half of the matrix, so color tube. This is one and a half ounces exactly because this is a three ounce tube and that's what it should look like. Just remember, half the color tube and then something that is important is actually measuring out your peroxide, but an easy way to remember this. Is you always want equal parts color two equal parts developer, so you should have the same exact amount of each product in the bowl. You never want to add too much peroxide and you never want to add too much color. I forgot how strong this is so make sure you do this in a well-ventilated area, so for the peroxide I highly recommend buying a little measuring cup that has ounces on it. This one is up to four ounces, but we're only going to need about one and a half ounces of developer to go with half of our tube of colors, so that should be the perfect amount. It should have a really really nice and smooth consistency, not too watery, not too thick with color. If it is too watery and it's like runny, that means you added too much for oxide, so just be careful all right. So after your hair is tangle, free, I'm just gon na take my comb and separate it right down the middle trying to make it as clean as possible. But if it's not perfect, it's totally fine we're basically going to be separating our hair down the middle right. Here and then down the middle this way we basically want four, even sections of our hair to apply color to so. Essentially, the parts will be like this and then we're just gon na section off this hair make sure it feels good. I like to take a comb and make sure it's even and again just like feel around and then section off that hair, because we're gon na apply all of this color at different times. Don'T forget your gloves, you'll be upset, so how I like to start is: I will apply the color to the roots of the cross. If that makes sense so up here down here and then in the middle of these sections, I'm going to start by doing that. I'M doing this in a little mirror, so I don't know how well this is going to turn out, but I'm taking one for the team and make sure when you're applying this, you kind of want to feather it out. You don't want it to be like in a clean blunt line, or else it's not gon na blend, with the hair color that we're gon na put on later, if that makes sense, so yeah we're just taking little light and even sections making sure that everything is Really really saturated right in the brow. Oh, oh wait. Also, don't forget these little baby hairs in the front because, honestly, you just you just don't want to miss those. It'S gon na make you look dumb. I love hogshead lipstick on my teeth for like five minutes, and I didn't know about it really cute all right. So while I'm applying my hair color, I figured it would be a good time to explain why it's so important to use different volumes of peroxide on your hair, depending on what color you're, starting with like at the moment, I'm depositing color on my virgin hair, which Is my roots obviously, and my natural hair color is about a level 5 which is very dark, so with that being said, I would need to use a level 30 peroxide to lift three levels to make it match the rest of my hair. So an easy rule of thumb to remember is each level of peroxide will lift you about one level. So, basically, if you're blonde, you can just throw this color on and you don't even need to use the 30 level peroxide on your roots. I would just use the 10 because all you need to do is deposit the color so for everyone else out there with brown to dark brown roots. I do suggest using the 30 volume because it's going to give you an excellent lift and it's going to look very natural and plus you just you, don't have to use bleach and that's the best part, so it's so much less damaging. And yes, so another really helpful tip. Is I actually like to grab these two fingers right here and then do this slide it back and forth want it to blend this section. So it's not 1 and then just to make sure that everything is saturated. And then you just Pat it up with the other hair all right, so this is getting a little bit crazy and a lot it been messy. So I'm gon na go ahead. Do this other side, because you guys already know how to do this by now and then we will start on the other process. I'M done it time. Anyways before I actually topple over from the fumes, I'm gon na take my matrix color sink color in the shade HD CR, which is 2 ounces and mix it with two ounces of 10 volume peroxide. I don't know why, but I find this so satisfying. That'S fun, and now there's left to do is apply the rest of your color to the mid-shaft and ends massage it through, and you want to do this very very quickly because your ends have already leave your roots, have already been processing for about 10 minutes at This point - and I always aim to leave it on for 35 to 40 minutes and absolutely no longer than that, but that is the perfect amount of time for me to lighten up my roots, I always like to take extra care of the top layers and make Sure, they're extra extra saturated because that's the layer of hair, that's gon na - be showing the most, and sometimes people spend a lot of time on the bottom, because that's where the driest hair is and then they end up neglecting the top. So this will be more like rich and vibrant than the top, and then it just kind of looks like you already need to be touched up, and nobody likes that unless you do, then that's okay, the application process isn't finally complete. Thank God. So I'm just going to take a clip and clip that up take off the gloves, go clean, my balls and I'm gon na set a timer, for I believe, 30 minutes from this point on right now I highly suggest using one of those clear caps or if You have a shower cap that isn't cute that you feel okay about ruining it's really nice to trap the heat from your scalp into the plastic, because it just helps the color develop a little bit better. You think'll definitely use some plastic grocery bags for that as well. I just don't happen to have any of those either because I always use the recyclable one so kind of Sol. So, while my colors processing I figured it would be fun to show you guys some. My favorite products that help me keep my hair vibrant, so I don't have to dye it as much so. The first thing I use is this shampoo and conditioner. It'S the joy coal color, infused, copper. I really really like using shampoos that have color in it or some sort of pigment I'll put some on this cotton round. Just so you can see the color, it's actually very interesting. It'S a very, very vibrant, copper, dark, orange color and I wasn't sure if it was gon na work for me at first, but I tried it and I ended up loving it. So I think it's really really important to use a shampoo. That'S also going to infuse color in your hair and just keep it as vibrant as possible. The conditioner is actually almost exactly the same. This has color in it as well, but when it comes to color infused conditioners, my favorites to use are actually the overtone because of how vibrant they are. And since I'm normally at a copper, / Orange range. And maybe I want it to be a little bit more orange that week I can most definitely go ahead and do that if I to incorporate some of the vibrant orange and with maybe the pastel orange, this is my personal mixture. I never like to just use the vibrant orange, so if you can only afford one bottle, which is what I would probably do if this wasn't sent to me is, I would mix the vibrant orange with some of your regular conditioner that you use and just kind Of like dilute it a little bit to a color where it looks a little bit more vibrant than your hair, color it'll just make it last a little bit longer. It'S really nice. They also have a colorless mask. I couldn't find mine, I don't know where the hell I put it, but that is really really good. You can mix this with their colorless masks and then I sleep in that sometimes in its bomb. It'S great! So that's about it as far as color care and keeping my color vibrant goes. Let me know if you guys have any other haircare questions. I'D be happy to do like my everyday hair tutorial and show you guys basically like what heat protectants. I use what hair sprays I like dry, shampoo, etc. So, just let me know if you guys want a video on that as well. I think it's time to go rinse out this color, so I'm gon na do that and really I'm so excited to have fresh hair. You guys don't even know fresh fruits just hit different, so I'm gon na go rinse this out blow dry, my hair and I'll be back alright. So I'm finally back, I gave myself a nice blow-dry and a quick style just so you guys could see the effect. This is the color, it's great, it's beautiful. Who is she no, but seriously this hair color makes me feel so good. It just makes me feel really pretty and like youthful and healthy anyways. I hope you guys learn something from this tutorial. If you guys have any questions or if I skipped over any important information, just leave me a comment down below make sure to LIKE and subscribe and again. Ashtyn Guilliams: This is the best hair dying tutorial I have ever seen! I've been wanting to go ginger for a while, and have tried (and failed) a couple times already, but this is the first video I've seen that actually makes me feel as though I understand the process enough to succeed for once. Here's to hoping that this go around is finally the one that turns out well.

theghosttintheattic: I recently went copper and Im in looove with your hair! I’m a hair student but even I try to not go to the salon cause it’s so expensive. I’ll definitely be doing this!!

Stephanie Nelson: OMG I can’t WAIT to get started on my hair so excited to jump right into it, I felt like I learned a lot from this video, you look amazing Rebecca I love it

Nikki Medina: Thank you SO much for making this video. I do have a hair stylist but, with this epidemic I don't know when I'd be able to get my hair done. Currently my roots are growing and the rest of my hair is copper. So, the part about the two developer's is SO helpful.

Caitlin Grant: I am so glad that I stumbled upon this video! I recently went to a salon and had my hair dyed. I was blonde for about two years and so I wanted to go copper. I waited about 3 weeks to wash my hair and as soon I started washing my hair the color came out super quick. I’m now strawberry blonde and the back is darker than the front ( the colorist messed up smh). Every video that I have watched on YouTube has been people using the semi permanent rinses which I didn’t want to do. Your method is going to be Perfect for me so I can try to fix the unevenness and get my hair laid at home. THANK YOU! I loved your video and your hair tuned out beautiful! just subscribed

Nancy Sims: This color suits you so much, it’s gorgeous! You actually inspired me to dye my hair a similar color and I love it, My hair is orange but like ORANGE! Lol

Fabss: Yesss! I recently went copper like a month ago and I’ve been looking into maintenance tips and tricks in between salon visits!! Thank you!! ✨

Shelby: This is a great video! I love the hair color and you explained everything so well! Great job!

Danie Free: Thank you for being so helpful! You and your hair color are beautiful! Great tutorial

Edna Solis: I went ginger like two months ago and some salon lady did it but this is all I was looking for to touch up my roots and be as vibrant as I want them. Thank you so much and for the shampoo suggestion also needed that I do use dp hue gloss which is bomb too

Jayleen Haddock: You explained everything so well. It was nice to not have to wonder about questions because you were already speaking on it love the hair color on you! I’ll be picking out a color today ! Thank you

Rebecca Sinkway: Amazing tutorial. I have been wanting to do this color for so long but hate bleach. Was thinking of this method but was unsure if 30 vol would lift my hair color enough but your tutorial gave me confidence to try it!

ThatCat Val: Thank you! I never would have thought of using 10 developer and a demi for the already colored parts. It makes complete sense to avoid a bunch of damage. Thanks! This is my favorite and most informative video I've found! Gonna dye my hair copper red!

THERESA ANDRADE: Your root growth blends nicely even in the beginning!

Steven Wendel: "If this video seems a little shoddy" Drops a 10/10 tutorial.

Alyssa Washeleski: Hey girl! Thank you so much for this video!!! If I have super thick longer hair, would I need more extra bottle of color and developer? I also had a question about the processing time- you said you wanted your roots to process for 30-40 min max, and your roots had already processed for 10 minutes when you were putting on the end color, but then you put on a timer for 30 minutes after you were done with your ends. Wouldn't that be way over 40 minutes? I just want to make sure I'm doing it right. Lastly, if I use oVertone, do you still recommend touching up your ends with color? Thank you so so so much you're the best!!!

Alexandria Sallee: I'm a natural ginger and I love watching people dye their hair red!!! Yours looks AMAZING girl

N.O.85: What shade would you recommend if you’d like to do a darker root (deeper copper) for more of a melt look? This video was so helpful!

Mackenzie Husko: Do you recommend for someone who is a dark blonde to still use the two different color reds for the roots and the ends? I know you talked about it with the developer and the roots for you being a darker haired person to help match the rest of your hair

Triton on the Heir: Tbh thank you so much for this video it gives me a less sense of anxiety for touching my hair up and not jacking my hair up completely thank you truly I was thinking I was gonna have to use a bunch of 30 volume developer and apply it all over the head but what you said makes the worlddddd of since I will be doing this exact technique but with the copper and auburn I use from L’Oréal hicolor for dark hair

Samantha Culliton: This was so helpful!!! Thank you!

Kristin Marie: Thank you love the video! Very helpful! Great personality !! Thanks girl!

Rebecca Dunn: I have had my hair dyed by so many people now including a salon. I love the bright copper colour but from dyes that are dull to people botching it, I get fustrated with it at the salon I asked for an ombre with highlights so they put on only one colour that was a bright red not copper or ginger my sister did a good job with a lunar tides but refused to lighten the top so it only showed on my tips. last time it was done I had it done by someone I didn't want to touch my hair who forced me to let them and I was freaking out!!! (they massaged it like shampoo and because there was dye left they found it funny to rub it on my face!!!!!) so my hair has been very patchy ever since. was also done more of a dark red but I usually try to aim for coppers and aurborns (I like a mix of natural and bold being kinda in the middle) but I've been leaving my hair for a while to get as much colour out before I strip it but i won't do that maybe for a few more months to give my hair a break (one thing I am glad about is my hair is usually pretty healthy apart from a few split ends but if I'm changing up the colour I leave it a few months anyway to breath) I will probably strip my hair before I do it again anyway to get the rest of the patchiness out and I found stripping it gets my hair to my natural light mousy blond without damaging it which I found bleach did to my ends (so I am glad only the ends were done) but in the meantime I've been looking up tutorial over tutorial. dyes after dyes. (pretty hard to find a bright copper in the drugstore so online is the only bet and won't get one unless there are good reviews) but I have never seen anyone with hair close to how I want it with a tutorial. there are photos online I'm like yes!!! that!!! but no tutorials. TODAY IS MY SAVING GRACE!!!! seeing your hair here with it being a tutorial your hair not only being the colour I want but also not being dry (if I see a decent looking colour but the hair looks overly dry I tend to skip it) but your hair looks healthy and with the tutorial on the routs and stuff, maybe there's hope for my hair after all

Alyssa Rounsaville: So I’m going to dye my own hair kind of like this. Which you’ve been a big help with this video. But I have a question about the equal parts. I have light roots so I’m only using 10% developer. But I’m mixing in 2 different shades of copper with it. How much should I measure for them?

Tjaša Rupar: such a good video. Going orange from icey blonde tomorrow so I'm learning all about it, this was the best and most informative video by far:) and you are so sweet and funny and beautiful:)

Erin M: You're amazing. Thank you for the peroxide explanation, that has been the best explanation ever and I finally get it! Also, you just look like a pro. Awesome vid, super helpful

Jasmine Foster: Wow the hair looks sooo good! ❤️

Triton on the Heir: This made me subscribe to your channel I'm a black ginger and you literally taught me af how to redo my color your highely appreciated Rebecca and btw you slayed that Coraline looks yassss

Amy Tobias: You are so pretty and I love how you did your eye makeup! Can you do a tutorial on it?

Nickyloveslove ENTERTAINMENT: Beautiful. I'm currently a red head and loving it~

Ariana Sprague: Quick question: I also have very dark brown, thin fine loose curly hair. I was wondering, since my hair is just natural right now, could I do what you do to your roots all over? I'm trying to avoid bleach because my hair is already so delicate! Thanks!

Lavender In Winter: Thank you, great & informative video <3

me_internet_you_long_time: Hi @Rebecca Seals, I love your copper color! Are you still using the Matrix HD-CR line? I am having trouble finding it online to order (I am not licensed). Can you recommend another product or line that is comparable? <3 Thanks!

Fluffy kitten: The overtone hair colouring conditioner works really well to i coloured mine with the ginger one turned out awesome and it’s quick only leave it 15 minutes

Andeedoll: 1. I agree with Steven, 10/10 tutorial! 2. You are so cute, I love seeing your face and ilysm 3. This was sooo informative and thorough! SCIENCE BITCH 4. I love how you laugh at your own jokes it’s so cute 5. My only question is wat that mouf do? 6. Penetrate.....shaft....

Lauren Habib: Hey I’m a medium red brown looking to do this color! To make my ends as bright as yours for the first time should I use 30 developer all over? Or just follow exactly what you did here?

Maritza Martinez: I loved your video, thank you so much!

Taylor: Is this exactly how you dyed your hair the first time going this shade? I'm trying to figure out if I need to use the socolor for my roots the first time or if I just use the color sync. Also, have you ever had this process turn out bad? I'm kind of nervous to do it myself..Thanks!

Jenna Coo: Love love love! Thank you so much. Would you suggest getting the first coloring done by a professional and just touch up yourself?

Victor Hernández Art: OMG!!! Your hair reminds me of Merida's hair, that color is stunning, and it looks great on you. Greetings from Mexico.

purrfect_0ne: Great tutorial- I wish I could pull off orange red- what red did you use when it was darker red?

Ana: If I’m going red for the first time do I follow this as it is or do I apply the root step to my whole hair? :o

Indigo Moon: Was the rest of your hair already bleached/blonde before you went copper? Or was the copper on your lengths achieved through 30vol developer plus colour?

Sam Guerra: Hi! I have been trying to get a copper color at home for a few months now, I recently tried a ginger color from the brand adore and my hair is now what you see in my profile picture (dark redish/ginger tint with my dark brown roots) to get the color you have how much developer and dye do I use on my roots and on the rest of my hair. It would be awesome if you replied, I'm trying to get this color before my birthday in a few weeks! Thank you!

itszelhar: Thanks for this awesome video!!! Don’t you need to be a professional to buy from salon centric? If so, where would you recommend getting these products or similar ones to achieve a vibrant copper/ginger color?

Katie Bell: Thank you for the tutorial. Could you explain please what you would do different if you were going for a brighter orange not copper would you still use 30 developer and a different color and it would still lift brown roots? Thank you))

Adelina T: your hair is super pretty and it suits you so well!!

googoogirl114: Hey Thank you for video! I just wanted to know, if you use permanent dye to touch up the whole hair every month, doesn't your hair get damaged?? Can't we use demi permanent dye to revive the color??

caykeface: When I was a red head I would mix my Joico red color with my conditioner in the shower and let it sit for a few minutes. My hair always looked perfect and vibrant

Shona Taylor: Hey I LOVE this, currently trying to find the colours to do my own hair struggling to find the exact matches ANYWHERE please help

Krystal Braun: Hey girl ! This color is exactly what I am looking for but I can only find it in the Matric Color Sync HDCR Demi Permanent. Do you think it would still look as good if I just used that all over my hair?

georgie barker: Hey! I pray you can helpI went a copper colour direct from brunette but my roots are lighter than the rest of my hair and it looks kinda blunt instead of feathered Any tips on what to do to blend it out ?!

Kyla Burkes: Beautiful color!!

Marisca Aling: Loved it! Thanks so much. I do have some questions though, help me please! I went to a salon to lighten my hair. its prob about a level 9-10, and i started around level 6? Then i wanted a blush/pastel pink colour. I want to retouch myself at home due to my personal budget :D I am trying to find a good solution to get the least damaging to my hair. I think i should touch up my routs witch bleach/30 vol. Then also bleach my mids and ends because i want a level 11. dye my roots, and then mids and at last my ends with cause they're probably dry AF so they would suck in the colour faster so i don't have darker ends. Do you have any tips for me?

Karen Calipus: Thank you for sharing. This was so helpful

Stefany Flores: I never dye my hair but this was so interesting to me

lilistarlet37: Great tutorial, I had this color and havent been able to go back to it, now I think I can do it myself

Bisoc Delia: Hello. I do have one question. If this color works this well on dark hair as your roots were than how is this color react on platinum blonde?

Christiane Meneses: Beautiful!

: You are beautiful, your hair is beautiful, your voice is beautiful, your video is beautiful, everything is beautiful!

Lil Icek: Great dying tutorial, thank u! Can I mix different brands, like for example... Schwarzkopf Blond Me 30 developer with Wella Koleston permanent color or both must be the same brand? Sorry for my bad english.

TheBlondeBarbee: Hi love this colour ❤️❤️ you look stunning seeing as this colour isn’t available in the uk do you think the new socolor sored in copper would be the same? Anyone know don’t want to buy if it’s not this colour x

Alicja M: LOVE LOVE LOE your hair! thank you for posting!

Ashley Hallman: I'm a natural strawberry blond I used box dark Auburn red last month & its already faded & my roots need touched up. The box came with a developer so now that you've said I need different levels I don't know what the hell to do. I've dyed my hair maybe 4 times in my entire life & never touched up before. For this very reason I didn't know the best way to go about it. I usually just cut the color off‍♀️.

Reagan Alice: So, I have light/medium brown hair (according to this chart level hair color chart - Bing images I'm level 6, but it varies depending on the chart I look at). It's completely untouched and relatively healthy (It's not damaged, but its not super shiny or anything if that makes sense), and I've been wanting to dye it this color (with a little more brown/a little less vibrant) for a while. I was going to go to a hairdresser, but I'm on a bit of a budget, so then I was going to do it at home, but I'm terrified to use any sort of bleach. Would I be able to use the same products and techniques used in this video for all of my hair? If not, any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated Thank you to any who reply <3

Diane Pinegar: I love your tutorial

Alannah Weber: Ok this is really helpful. Just got my hair dyed and it washed out in 2 washes. Wondering if that end color will brighten up? My natural hair is as dark as yours to so thanks for talking about the 30 whatever

Patricia Ah Pak: Hi Rebecca, I love your colour.. I'm trying to replicate it but having a difficult time finding the products. I live in South Africa, and can't seem to find matrix colours. Could you please list the exact colours/numbers so I can try to find something similar. Thank you in advance....PS. here's hoping you see this God bless.

Stephanie Khadoo: Your hair is the exact color I want!!!!!

val1988syd: Hi , how about apply a toner on the rest of the hair instead of the process that you did ? Is it the same ?

Sofia Mora Ramos: Hi! I can't find the HDCR colour or the Matrix 10 Volume Develover here in the UK =( is there another colour you would recommend from Matrix? And also, can I use another 10 volume developer (I found this: H.H Pro Cream Hair Colour Tint Peroxide Developer 3% (10 volume) Litre 1000ml) with the Matrix Color Sync? Thanks!!

Surlejka: hey. Can I use just one colour Matrix SoColor: HDCR permanent on my all hair?

Ezgi Sevindik: If I did this to my hair the first time, do I need to apply directly with 30 volume developer? I mean for my all hair?

Kristy Olivas: You should share this video with Brad Mondo..Get his reaction because I personally think you did a beautiful job.

Tasneem Alshabk: You explained perfectly thanks Girl i only want to know if it works the same without bleach on the rest of a processed hair thanks in advance for replying

Jennifer Brown: I laughed too hard when you said "Don't forget your gloves bitch"... Looks so easy on straight hair, I have to blow dry my dirty and THEN color it, then blow dry again. I use 40 though..

h noneya: Very Beautiful!

alma cortez: Can you do a diy Orange copper overtone with conditioner and hair dye or with manic panic if that makes sense...thanks

KillǝrF®osT: I recently went red and i've been trying to find this shade but i'm wondering if maybe it was discontinued ?? I've searched everywhere (Ebay, beauty supply, professional supply warehouses, etc) and can't find it in stock anywhere. Bummer...

Elizabeth Deen: Wow... I love it so much. So pretty

Miranda Marshall: I see this video is for your roots but I’m trying to get the hair color you have because it’s amazing!! I’ve been wanting to do copper for a long time. Can I use this process if all of my hair is dark brown? Or is this just a video for roots?

Avieliz Miranda: Keep doing more videos❤

Anabel A: I bleach my roots n I tho I n I could use this video.to bleach my roots but I cant cuz I started dying my hair with henna and I love it! Better then chemical dye for sure. I can tell huge difference ❤ ty tho, very informative

Jenn Martinello: Perfect!

Lauren Wolfsbane: Howdie :) so I kind of want the darker ginger color you put on your ends to be the color of my whole head. Which color did you use for that and how long did you leave it on?

Kerry Hill: Can this same method be used with a different brand of permanent hair color?

Skylar Behney: I don’t know if you will see this or not but I have a question. I was wanting to dye my whole head with artic fox frose. The problem is my roots are darker than the rest of my hair. I’m naturally dirty blonde. So when I did my hair my roots didn’t take the dye at all I was wondering if I could get your input?
