Hi, you guys welcome back to my channel, so today I have a pretty highly requested video. Every time I do like a hair video like how I curl my hair or how I cut my hair, like this at home, anything to do with hair. You guys always want to know my color. I did need a color. My roots were getting pretty long, so I decided I would do my full hair color. What I use, how I applied the foils everything like that for you guys today, so yeah. What I had going on was, as you can see like quite a bit of root, but it was fairly dark and just very disconnected from the blonde. So I asked you guys over on Instagram, so I was kind of liking the roots, but they were definitely like just very chop chop, so I thought just kind of melting them together with a few like baby lights would be really sweet and you guys said yeah. That'S what I should do so I decided to to do that and I use a different pose so I'll. Let you guys know how that all went, what I thought of it. If you guys want to see what I usually do when I do like a quick retouch up to my hair, I will link that video right here. You guys can check that out after this video. So if you guys are interested in seeing how I achieved this, what I use to tone it also, if you watch to the very end of the video I'll, show you guys what I use in-between colors, to maintain a nice ashy icy blonde, this product that I Use keeps my hair, so so nice and I see blonde so make sure you guys watch to the end, and I hope you guys enjoy this video. Let me know what you guys think in the comments below okay. So what I used for my highlight application was my metal tail comb for weaving the highlights my color ball for Lightner, I used matrix a light master just regular, tin, foil. I ripped about 20 of them. I used 19. I believe I had one left over, and so I used one scoop of Lightner and that was enough to do my whole. Like the section of my head that I highlighted and I have pretty thick hair, I mixed 20 and 40 volume about half and half and made a pretty thin mixture and then so I parted it just like kind of where my hair peeks, you can see that Little point, and that is a perfect starting point I thought and so clip that out of the way, okay, so I made sure to make nice clean sections fairly small sections about 1/8 of an inch and very tiny weaves. Don'T have to be perfect. I prefer doing my highlights very random, and then I just folded the foil over top of my comb, to get a nice clean line, and then I just applied the lightener to my root area. Only it's very important to do this. If you guys are lightening your hair at home, because if you put Lightner over top of Lightner you'll risk frying off the pre lightened, already pre lightened hair. And so then I took about a half inch section all across going from the right side of my head to the left. I took half inch sections then I took and weaved 1/8 of an inch section holding the foil over my comb. Every time hold it tight. If you have a foil board even better, but I just use it like this and apply the lightener only on the virgin hair of the hair that is not colored and then fold that up push down this little flap here. That gets it really nice and tight to your head, your scalp, so that you don't get any bleeding of the lightener and I'll show you guys here. Do not get your Lightner. If you try this at home, don't get your Lightner any closer than that or you will get bleeding, because foils tend to or Lightner tends to swell, so it will bleed and you'll get a big blonde blob. Essentially, where your highlight foil is so then, once I got to about half of my once I got to the half point of my head. I started on the other side and then once I got to where the foils meet, I took the last section. I parted it in half clipped it out of the way, and then I took the side that had just a little bit more hair and took that to be my foil section, still doing 1/8 very thin sections, weaving it very fine and random. If anything, I took thicker sections rate at the beginning, part of my bangs because, like I said in the beginning of this intro, I really prefer blonds towards the front of my hair, fading out too darker kind of ombre. As I get to the back of my head and then after I got this all folded up here, push that down, so you don't get any bleeding my favorite part of this whole application. I think you guys is the back. So the back. If you've tried to highlight your hair before is the toughest part of your hair to do ever, and you guys can see how I have this very Oh, like it kind of went patchy. The last time I did my hair because it's difficult um, so what I did was weave the highlights seemed very thin sections and I pulled it forward. Normally I go back like I paint it down back like as if you would do a client. This technique was pulling it forward. I watched another youtuber, do this and so happy for her tips, because this made highlighting the back of my hair so stinkin easy and see you guys can see that banding that I have in my hair. That was from the last time. I did it and it just it was. It was a little bit painful, and so I just said to myself next time I do my hair. I will fix that. I am done No and so tossing in these fine weaves in the back totally fix that blended, a trade out was very happy with how it turned out okay, so I did three going to the back. You could get away with probably doing two if you wanted. I did three down, and so this is how it looked initially so once this sat for about, I let it sit for about an hour. Everyone'S hair is totally different. I know my hair so once your hair gets to this kind of like pale banana yellow. That is when it is good to wash out. Of course, everyone's hair is different. Do not try this at home if you're not familiar with lightening as you can damage your hair. So I rinsed everything out. This is what it looks like all rinsed without the toner. So now for a toner, this is different than what I usually use. I use 7a from matrix, so color and ten ball, and I just applied it to the root area where I highlighted - and you don't have to be very precise with this - I just you just want to get it on really quick, so it can all process evenly Because it process is relatively fast, like I didn't leave this on for more than five minutes. I think so I went and did the back, because that was the last place I highlighted. So it was the warmest and that I just highlighted the whole half portion of my head. Her toned sorry just in about the one one and a half inch from the root is where I pulled the color and then once I got that all applied, I let it sit for a couple minutes and then once it started to look like it was toning And changing color I pulled it through, so you can kind of just scrape the color off and see so once it's almost to where you want it or when it was almost to where I wanted it. I took my pick and I just sort of combed it through, and then this blends everything out and just kind of melts it together and lets it blend down into the end, so that everything is very smooth and seamless. You also don't want to let the toner sit on your pre lightened, like anywhere that was pre lightened before you do this application, because it will tone faster than the stuff you just lightened. So that's another reason for doing this technique that I'm doing right now and I just let this sit on for probably around a minute or so not very long at all. Just until it all started to look the Toni want, and then this is the next day. So I washed it out in the shower and then I just went to bed because it was about that time. I started really late doing this application, and so, when I woke up in the morning, I thought I need a couple more highlights in the front cuz like I said I like a really highlighted front. So then, I tossed in some more Lightner and some twenty of all. I didn't mix forty in with it this time, just keeping it nice and gentle and made it just nice, the same consistency as I did before. Okay, so if you guys did see my quick and easy root, touch-up, which I will link I'll link it up in the corner and down in the description box, this is very similar to that. Only I took a thinner section and instead of doing the highlights, like we did previously in this video from left to right, we're doing them front to back, and so I did the same 1/8 of an inch sections and tiny little weaves, and I did about three Foils in the front here just to give me that nice light bang area, so the first foil and one thing that I did do when we're doing them side to side. I took one or half inch sections and then weaved the eighth of an inch section. Here. I just took eighth of an inch sections back-to-back just to make it that much more blond than it is throughout the rest of my hair and so I'll show you this foil, and then I did one more rate in front of my face. I'Ll show you this one really quick and then this one I weaved and did the hair lighten the hair rate in front of my face, and so what I did was leave this on till it was that nice banana, yellow and then I rinsed it and toned It the same way, I toned the rest of my hair, and this is now turned out yeah. So overall, I really loved this foil technique for just having like very soft and very like scattery. I don't really like this stripy, I'm not into like the straight be lined up foils all over my head, like they are in the bank, because that's what I did to this thing and just to get it that nice, like framed blonde, that's pretty trendy um and It'S just what I've always liked for my hair. I just need that blonde right by my face so yeah if um, I would definitely do this again when I do do it next time. What I will do is do the slices this way like I did, but then leave this section out and do the slices like this and then do those three slices or weaves in the back. Oh, it was so much easier to do the back doing them forwards. Like that's how I did them in the video so like I promised how I maintain my icy blonde hair in between colors is by far you guys. If you have not used the launch of violet shampoo, it is the darkest most intense toning shampoo. So you don't need to leave it on very long. It'S like almost it looks almost black, it's so dark and then right after I do a color. I use this silk venom. So it's a mask and it's a keratin mask so I'll put that on right. After a color leave it on, like do all the rest of stuff in the shower that you need to do then rinse it out, and I use that probably once a month or once every two months and then on the daily. When I walk not on the daily, but when I wash my hair, because I wash my hair, probably like once or twice a week, I use this creme brulee keratin protein conditioner and I pair it with the violet. There is a violet conditioner, but why I pair the creme brulee instead is because this gives me enough toning and the keratin in this gives you a daily repair on your blonde, because blondes it can be damaging to have blonde hair. So this together just keeps my hair, very healthy and then two more products, especially for people with blond, highlights that I like is first and foremost this satin nectar, because it is a very like it's a light serum. You can see that it moves quite fluidly, so but it's a little bit heavier than this. So this is a marula oil spray. Essentially it's an oil spray for your hair, and so it's really great because it just gives you a light mist of oil. It'S not heavy, and this I really like because it doesn't weigh down my hair, is super thick, but each strand is very fine textured, so it gets weighed down really easily, and so I like this because it gives me back the shine in my hair without weighing It down, because if you are a blonde you have blond highlights you know that sometimes it can make your hair look dry, especially on the ends, and this really just like smoothes out gives it back at shine, and everything like that. So I will list these five products in the comments below, if you guys want to shop for them, and what else was I going to say? Oh, if you guys wanted to check out um how I do my messy curls, what I used to do my messy curls, I'm a link of video here here. I will also link my video of how I cut six inches off my hair at home. You guys can check that out. It has over 2 million views now. So that's pretty exciting and I will see you guys in the next one. I

Thecoolbonnie: Love the weaving for the back of your head technique, so helpful!

Susana Lanosa: Great video! I did my highlights a couple of weeks ago and I got some hot spots….ugh ! So hard to do it by myself. I will try this technique next time. Thank you

Allison Hancock: I’ve always highlighted my own hair but with a cap. This was my first time using foils and although not perfect I didn’t mess up either.... thanks!

We're the Richardsons: Love it, so pretty! Coming from a hairstylist myself, I’m always doing my hair myself at home too. Between Clients all day then running home to kids. No time for myself in the salon chair! Love the back area weave tip. Hardest part! You rock!

YevgeniyaUSA: Thank you so much! Was looking for this kind of explanation! And YOU did it perfect! Loved your video! Thank you!

Mike and Mom: Looks beautiful! Even before the toner, wow!❤️

Deanndra Nunnery: Omg thank you so much for this video! I’ve been stressing about my touch ups bc I wrecked them last time your hair and color is beautiful!!!

Diana P: Thank you so much for posting this. Everywhere decent around me charges $200+ for baby lights on my fine, thin, shoulder length hair and it never ends up turning out exactly how I want :( I have experience doing my hair at home and I’ve really been wanting to try touching my roots up myself, so I’m grateful you made this tutorial! You make it look easy. I might have to try it this week.

Jen Wright: You make it look so easy and I love your hair!! I can't wait to try this technique. I did my own foils for the other day, not bad for a first attempt and will know what to do for next time :)

canahata: hey! Just followed this last night and did my hair. came out AMAZING!! it was definitely hard to see what I was doing on myself but it came out great for the circumstances. thank you!

P S: Very helpful! Looks beautiful. Thanks for the tips.

BlackThornRose127: This turned out beautiful! I love L’ange’s tools, I can’t live without their straightening brush, but I’m not sold when it comes to their products and the ingredients, especially the ones that really count. For example the repairing conditioner, the first 4 ingredients are water, alcohol, mineral oil and fragrance and the very last two ingredients are the ones that repair the hair...I’d have to say there are better salon quality products out there.‍♀️

Kelly Livingston: Thank you so much for this. This video is by far the best one I've seen! I feel confident I can do this. It definitely helps that your roots are the same color as mine!!

Misty Wilson: Thank you so so much for sharing! Looks like I will be doing an at home high light with my mother in law helping me, and this video has helped me so much with what to buy and how to use the products. Also the foil techniques are so great! Thanks for sharing so much!!

Melissa Green: I am so lucky, you have my exact hair type!! It's wonderful to have someone who is such a fantastic expert at every aspect, cut, colour, curl and style who can show me exactly how to do everything myself and save a small fortune! So glad to find your gem of a channel, thanks for posting and for such fantastic instructions.

Connie Squires: This is the most informative, simple and easy and uncomplicated hair tutorial I ve seen

Little Dreamer: YES!! Last time I did mine, I painted FORWARD for the back sections and it was SO much easier. I also have a mirror on my back wall - so like that picture behind you in my bathroom, is another mirror I hung... it takes some getting used to because everything is flipped, but it makes it easier to see back there. I'm doing my hair again sometime this week and I'm going to try going side to side like you did. I also prefer more blonde in the front so I'm going to try that technique you did at the very front/bang area (thicker in the front and more fine in the back).

Kylie Dale Littlefield: Omg! You are sooo good.. I love your hair!! I've been contemplating doing a shadow root on my blonde hair since Rona made its appearance during Spring Break. I have soooo many different hair colors, she's, toners, you name it, I got it! About 5 years ago I did my hair with no problems or hesitation, but for some reason I've lost all my confidence in my skills for getting my hair to look exactly how I wanted it and I enjoyed doing it, even though a couple times I had to make an ER appt with my hair girl... :( I'm so sick of feeling ugly and I know if I could just get my hair to look similiar to your end result here, I would feel a helluva lot better about myself and be back on top of the world again ;) thank you love for this video! I think I'm going to go do my hair right meeeeow...

Penny Richards: Love your hair! I m going to attempt this today!

Katie Lustig: Impressive! Thank you for sharing! You make foiling on yourself look easy lol. I do my own balayage and have longer hair so I struggle lol

Stephanie Young: Love your hair! You did an awesome job

charlottesmom:: Gorgeous!! I'm going to do this with a deep red.

Yohana SirenaYLS: What a beautiful result thank you for showing us

Elisabeth Broekhuysen: Love your hair!! Excited about the new technique in the back! Cute video!!

Ali Nicole: Thank you! This is the easiest tutorial I have found so far. I have spent over $1000 trying to get my hair the way I want it by professionals and am going to try myself to save money and learn how to get it how I really want.

N. Tulin Tacettin: Epic!! Color neatness everything. jaw dropped when you did the back! Thanks for sharing you give me hope

beth schaeffer: Hey Jamie love your tutorial! I’m really looking for a change!! With covid as bad as it’s been, I now have hair down past my bra strap. I have a lot of hair but is fine and have 10 inches of roots”YUCK” love your color, style & cut we roughly have the same skin tone and natural color. What do you recommend? I don’t expect miracles LOL!! I catch on pretty well and actually groom dogs for a living so I have tons of patience.

AM Garza: Love this icy blonde, this would go great with my salt & pepper hair I'm trying to grow out but in my area its hard to find a good colorist . Luv, Luv it so much, very beautiful!

Dakota K: You make it looks soooooo EASY. You did a nice job

Alexis Valere: Always so gorgeous!

Haley Sperbeck: So happy I stumbled across your Video❤ I'm also a stylist and I have 4 inches of new growth level 6, I'm just procrastinating doing it lol especially the back, doing it backwards is so Genius!!! Thank you, now I'm actually excited to Finally do it yours looks Great to!!

Beautyluvr: I LOVE your hair! Gorgeous and so glad I ran across your channel!

BrianaBU: Absolutely gorgeous! I am at a gross white/brassy color right now and look ridiculous... now I come across this video and just cried.. she is so helpful and does hair PERFECT.. I don't know how to correct this easter egg yellow/white..

David Hill: Fantastic tutorial Thank you! Patricia

Jennah Boo: Love it!! I need to do this to mine.

Sophie C: Thank you for the tips on doing the back I always struggle with the back

CORY SECRETS: Thats it Im going in with the bleach again I have about 7 inches of growth now so Im a little terriffied Im gonna mess up but the back forward technique has me sOlD ! Thank you for this inspiration lovely!!

Sparrow Cheeeeps!: Looks amazing! xx

Amber Slagle: I was bleaching and toning my own hair platinum blonde for 3 years. Decided to start growing my hair out a few months ago, but I hate the harsh transition between the platinum and 2-3 inch brown roots I have. I didn't know what to do and I didn't want to spend a fortune at the salon for color corrections. I still have some lightener and developer. I think this is what I should do!

N. Furber: omg! I wish I can do this to my own hair! got Rheumatiod Arthritis pretty good and hands and shoulders. But LOVE LOVE this look! Would love to know how to do this on the cheap... much love from Vancouver, BC

Aunti Gingy: Thanks. I always do mine and it turns out pretty much like this. I haven’t done a lot in about 8yrs now so this helped me refresh my memory. I might make a video for beginners w no professional training. An old friend I had taught me how to do foils. I can’t pay people to do my hair they alway make it yellow they mess it up and make look stupid. Ugh so frustrating to have to my own waist long hair.

Ashley Haddock: I love this video so much, thank you! I am a bit confused though as your finished highlights look much lighter than a level 7, they look more like a 9-10. I looked up the color chart for the Matrix Socolor you used and 7A also looked like a much darker blonde. Can you explain why yours is so much lighter? Thank you so much!

Sarah Dimpfl: this looks incredible good :)

Sherry Macoy: Wow I’m shocked how gods this turned out!

Mercy: Que hermoso!!!!♥️♥️♥️

Jane Smith: What brand toner did you use? Was demi or permanent? I love the result, nice job.

Lorrie Hess: I'm glad I came across this! I recently allowed my red hair to fully fade so that I can start going to a blonder shade...I went to the salon and let them know that I have grey hair and to eliminate the biweekly coloring, I would like to go blonde so that I can stretch it out a couple more weeks...well...somehow I ended up with a very dark brown 'shadow root' -ugh- with beautifull dimensional blonde hair everywhere else. I NEED to blend this out a bit since it counteracts my end goal of lower maintenance and enjoying a new blonde look. :) Plus, I just feel very awkward with this dark brown root area....Your video is GREAT!

GB Fragrances: I loved this! Thank you thank you thank you!!! <3

J B: Did you mix 20 and 40 to get 30? Love the result!

Danijela Strauss: THE BEST VIDEO EXPLAINED! Thank You!

Armella H. Cohen: You make is seem so easy, I tried this and could not for some reason. Great technique.

Angeline Biswas: Yey! I loved your past video similar to this this is sooo good!!

LILIAN BECERRA: This looks awesome! Did you do the very back as well?

Pat Puhlman: Beautiful!

Maribel Gomez: I think the highlights got dark because you put the root shadow way too low at first. It’s best to just tap it at the roots or only an inch down. And save the front pieces for the last few minutes

Taurus Girl: Looks awesome

Casey Harp: Move over X Mondo!!! You made this look too stinking easy and it's literally the color I've been after for two years now. I'm putting in a Sally's order now to pick up tomorrow so let's see how it goes!

Aislynn Guzman: I love this video! Which toner did you use?

dana king: Hi, I'm a hairdresser and been bleaching my own hair for the last 2 years. I want to go back to highlights. What would you say would be the easiest way to do it? In t section going back all the way from the front or like you did in this? Thanks

Anita G: Super talented i can't do this but I'm going to try ❣️

Lavender Hamilton: I absolutely love this, this saved me

Y.Z: Very thorough fan advice, also great for beginners, I tried today and we'll see what I'll do with my hair, I had a problem in the back of my head so I had to improve,It's ok .Not like you but it's a matter of practice .Thank you with you. Greetings from Hamburg

Бални Рокли: Lovely video ! thank you

Valerie Gee: For the 20 and 40 how much did you mix in? You said half n half but ? Also your hair came out so good! I'm solid Platinum and my roots are coming back dark might just try this after they are grown out a lot

GlowingxLights: Hi Jami, I love your color my hair used to be light as yours but I decided to dye it to medium brown. Now I really miss my blonde. I want to balayage my hair which developer percentage would you recommend for someone who is a level 6?

Louisiana Lady: Gorgeous!

Noelle23: Hiii Jami !! Your hair is super gorgeous <3 Do you have any tips as to where I could purchase toners that you use in Canada ??

Xío: Love your color. Can you please write the full name of the toner or soften product you used in your har? I'd appreciate a lot! Thanks

Kiara Cespedes: Love your blonde hair!!

T. Thomas: YEAH!!! I love your ash and I also love L'Ange and have been wanting to try their toning shampoo out!!! My new favorite sub!!!!!

Nora DT: Magnifique j'adore ❤️

Doreen Sweet: Jami I love love your hair! Do you have a video from start , the technique that you have is it a balayage and do you have a video I've looked and looked? I really need to know it's absolutely stunning!

N8zHoney: Thanks for the product recommendations. I was using everything except the creme brûlée shampoo, I was just getting ready to buy a shampoo and couldn’t decide which shampoo. Thanks!

Kari Lynn: Could we use a pull thru cap instead of foil?

Ashley Hiebert: Could I purchase a 10AV or 11A toner to keep it light? Or does it need to be the 7A? Thanks!

Misha Rosas: Great video easy awesome

Tori Kay Mac: Do you think it’s best to do on pre flat ironed hair?

Jeannette: You have no Idea How much I appreciate this video! Lol

Kristinadk: Fantastic video! Helped me understand much more... *Subbed*

Evelyn Bravo-Sanchez: When you add the volume developer 20 and 40 to the matrix you dont specify oz's, measurement of the volume developer. Please let me know I have porous hair too what do you recommend?

Ryann T.: Do you apply the lightening foils on your baby hair? I heard this makes hair too white?

Polina Chernikova: Hi all, can somebody help me i used t18 wella after bleaching my hair. The colour was nice . But now my root is growing is kinda mousy grey colour. What tonner should I use for my roots to reach t18 wella effect? Thx you. Nice job on video

Veronica Joyce: What a lovely pretty girl and great video ❤️

Little Dreamer: AH! I just have to comment again - I have been doing my own foil highlights for about 2 years now with the Loreal Frost and Design stuff (I know I know) because it comes with the bleach AND the toner (I've just always been too afraid to go buy the toner, developer and lightener myself from Sally's or Amazon)... I have been watching videos for the same amount of time - about two years and after watching THIS, I finally feel comfortable and will pick up the same products you've mentioned...(my natural color is same as yours and similar-ish texture). I've heard really good things about the Lange products, so will be picking that up too. THANK YOU!!!!

Eenhoorn: How many foils do you have on the sides?

Katey Stevenson: Great video!!

maria fihn: Really pretty

barbara thiago: Beautiful job but what can I do (to toner) if I have some grey hair (most near my ears)?

Marie Foss: Hi. The toner from matrix is permanent color? :)

Nicole Sibley: I am a cosmetology student and have been looking for ways to highlight my hair my self ! But I have a question- your hair lifted to a level 9-10 but you said you toned with level 7 a ? Is there a reason you went lower ?

Julie Z: Thank you! your so pretty

DIGEST of a WOMANS LIFE: Love your hair!!!!!

Suzanne Longmire: Question? I'm so confused that you use 7A to tone. It's so dark looking like it would actually color the highlights you just did. How does this work?

Deborah Wallace: Hi! What are u using to tone between T/U ? I use Shades EQ on damp hair, but it doesn’t last but two weeks. Thanks!

Malak Taimouri: Hi Jami , where can I find the products? Thank you.

linda salfen: I actally TOTALLY love this - the style, the color, everything and I started using the L'Ange products too...... I just cannot get the blonde too come up banana yellow with 20 - it is just orange and I have tried all the purple shampoos it just pulls way to purple......

Brenda Elosegui: Can I do this on my grey hair? I also have a white streak in the front. My hair used to be a level 5

Tiffany Johnson: Hi! I was wondering if that is the only toner you use, you have such a beautiful ash blonde but 7a always turns my hair so dark?

Hilary McAlister: When you rinse your hightlight before you tone, do you shampoo and cond? Do you like any of the shades EQ for icy or just bright blonde?

Kari Lynn: As a newbie after the lighting why the toner? To add color to the lightened areas?
