Beautiful people welcome back to my channel it's melanie today. I thought i will show you guys how i recreated my blonde garner box braids, if you guys follow my insta, you to see me in these braids, and quite a few of you are asking me what colors. I use to achieve this style. However, i felt like the colors of extensions that were available in ghana were kind of limited, and i wanted to recreate the colorway that i actually wanted in ghana. So here is me sharing it with you guys. I'Ve listed all the colors on the screen and you can find it in the description bar down below as well. This color, i didn't really use so much of so don't bother picking this one up. Okay. Now, if you haven't watched my ghana hairdresser horror story, then you need to pause this video click on the link above and watch that first, when i say my edges have been snatched guys like this clip is from when i first took out my braids guys, my Hair has the density of my hair has decreased by about fifty percent. My edges are completely gone. My hair's never been in this state before so we're gon na have to work on that um. I feel, like chopping all of my hair off, i swear to god, but i'm gon na stay strong and just document. My ghost story of you guys, so i'm having this really yummy breakfast kindly sent by superdrug for one of their skincare events um. It'S like all vegan super yummy, very nutritious, delightful. The first one we're gon na do is prep the hair. I couldn't find all of the colors that i wanted in the pre-stretched extension form, so i had to mix the pre-stretch with the stretch and then it got confusing. Then i had to do a little bit of maths to figure out how long to cut the non-stretch hair to match the stretch, hair and yeah. In the end, i figured out um, you could split it into three and it was kind of like the same length as the pre-stretch hair, so um top tip, if you guys find yourself in a similar situation, um just taking little pieces of the hair and seeing How it mixes, i will tell you how much hair i added to each piece, but honestly guys just eyeball it like take how much you think you need and then obviously add more of a certain color. If you feel it's too dark, too brown, too red too pale and just mix the hair, as you guys can see me doing here, is pretty simple um. It does take a bit of time. Not gon na lie it's time consuming, but you don't need a completely perfectly blended product, as you guys can see here, as i pick and pluck the hair um you'll see that the colors will blend really nicely anyway. I did the same thing again. So that's a really nice brown um bunch of hair. This time we went a little bit more blonde and then the final color wave she's, giving icy she's giving cool tone she's, given blondes, have more fun black girl edition. You know good to kind of mix and match your color waves. Don'T let them be all the similar color. You want there to be almost highlights in your braids to give them dimension, and so here you can see a slight difference in the colors in the three bundles of hair. Whenever i'm doing smaller braids, i tend to split it into two days and i'm going to say straight up. Do a small knot: let's braid diy ink small knots braids is not for the faint-hearted you're going to need at least a full day. You'Re gon na need multiple breaks. You'Re gon na need help with the back and um. I wouldn't judge anyone if they paid for someone to do this every single time. But since i had such a bad hair experience in ghana, i kind of just want to do my own styles on my own hair top for the foreseeable future. I'Ve unfortunately retracted back into my shell with black hairdressers, but we'll see anyway, i kind of showed you guys how i sectioned the hair there at the top, i've got a section ear to ear at the back. I was doing rows across and the front. I just split into two which i'm about to start braiding now so um. You want to separate the hair into smaller pieces. I just leave it on the side of my chair and to separate them, and you want to start making your first row now. When you add your styling product that allows you to get really nice crispy parts, i would actually recommend the red gummy wax over this one. I feel like this one didn't hold as well, and it got quite messy quite quickly, so just bear that in mind. I feel like i've seen a couple hairdressers do this, so i guess i guess i customized my wrap tacoma and it made parting so much easier guys. So i would highly recommend this hack, i'm not going to go into too much detail in this video. It'S how to do a knotless braid. I'Ve already got a video of that um linked up above, but a couple of tips that i want you guys to know with blonde braids. So you need to add the extension hair quite early on in the braid, otherwise you're going to look like you have like really bad like blonde root regrowth. I hope that makes sense. Add really small sections of hair as well feel the braid as you're going along to ensure that it's the same small size consistently throughout and don't rush yourself. I mean you can braid slow. You can braid fast as long as the braid is looking neat and tidy. It'S gucci, okay, so to do this similar quarter section, it took me about three hours and i did six rows going back to the crown of my head. I don't know how many braids is in total, but you can see the braid size here for reference. You want to braid almost to the bottom, but don't worry about the ends. Um, it's going to add to the curls. At the end, i'm pretty sure i ate like a whole pile of grapes. When i did this hair part um anyway, make sure it has. Detangled. Add gel to your hair as well and as you go along, it will help to slick the hairs in get help when you get to the back section guys honestly, i i i'm not responsible for the back of my hair and that's all i can say um. It'S always great to have a helping hand. Where possible, we finally finished braiding the hair. So you want to bring everything to the front and put some mousse through the roots. This is going to help to slick away any of the flyaways um and you wan na wrap a head scarf on top to keep everything in place. Okay, so let's tackle the ends with some flexi rods, you're gon na bring it all forwards, split it into four sections, two on each side and use the biggest flexi rod that you have okay, you're gon na start rolling from the ends to the tips and that's Gon na give you this really nice consistent curl. Once you take the flexi rods out dip the ends in the hot water and leave them there for about 10 to 15 seconds, you want the heat to do its thing, um and then just pat them dry as much. They can get as much moisture out as possible. It'S good to bear in mind that washed, your hair still wet. It can very easily change shape, so do take out the flexi rods with care and try not to fondle with the curls too much. So they can really set in place and once they're all out, you can cut away all of those scraggly ends they're not on brand they're, not part of the look and add a little bit of mousse on the ends as well just to help set the curls. As well, i finished these braids early hours before my flight to leisure, so i'm about to head to sleep, and here we are on the other side of the pond. These are what the braids ended up, looking like and once all the curls were separated guys. It was stunning i was feeling like a island gala with these goldilocks um, and i was kind of feeling myself um. Here'S a couple of pictures of these stars that i wore my hair in. I just kept it up for the most part, because it was very, very warm and yeah. That'S the end of the video, so i hope you guys enjoyed it. Don'T forget to show me love on channel and i will see you in the next under video

L: I find these videos so inspirational and your braids turned out so beautifully. I have in knotless braids that I did myself, they’re not perfect but I’m going to keep practicing. It’s nice to be able to do your own hair and you feel so accomplished when you’re done. A lot of these hairdressers are great at styling hair but absolutely terrible at hair care.

Five Lions: I’d suggest getting a hot damp towel and going higher up on the braids where it’s more stiff just to make it softer.
