Oh, my god, look at that dimension and this compliments your blue eyes, i'm here with my friend, cara hello. You may recognize her from my music video twilight and this is the first time i've ever done your hair. Yes, i'm so excited about it. I'Ve been admiring your hair for a very long time, my hair or my your personal hair too, and my work, especially in that new music video. Oh, we don't have to wonder we are not doing the hair. Oh yes, but i also admire your work. You'Re really you're very, very skilled and talented. Thank you. That means a lot. Can we talk about your hair yeah? We can so what are we doing today? Kara we are fixing up. This has been a long time. I haven't gotten it done in several months, because i've been kind of lazy. I have to admit wait. So do you normally do your hair yourself? No! No! I don't. I actually uh have an amazing hairdresser that i often go to. Are you cheating today, i'm cheating with me, i'm with you except i actually did tell him. I was like i'm cheating on you this week. Oh that's so kind of youtube. He did say that actually he was like wow people. Don'T usually tell me this, but i was like i just want to let you know like i'm doing this thing, i'm having a hair effect, i'm having a hair affair. Looking at your hair today, you haven't done it for quite some time. You can tell it's like. I have completely let it go. You know what i call this a little bit of a paranormal heritivity. Sometimes it could be a struggle because you do have a little bit of breakage. Can i point them out? Yes, yeah, you can. You do have these little breakage right here, which is very common like right around that face frame without money pieces. If you put blonde hair, it draws attention to that breakage. It'S like hi, i'm broken right, yeah yeah. So we have to be very strategic with where we can this one i think broke recently. Oh man, you're gon na, come to me with breakage. I know, then, i'm sorry. So when you look through here, you can see she's a natural level eight. So she is a blonde, but you would call this more of what would you call this? I said it was ugly blonde. I think, do you know how many people want this color that you have? Naturally it's like that fashion. Thank you. That'S why i went red for so long, because i was like i'm tired of being a blonde. Oh because you have red for so long, but there's banding! So there's your natural there's, a blonde and faded red that became kind of like a bronzy color in between. So it gets darker with open this up that natural eight, which is beautiful, nothing, is ugly. It'S beautiful here, you can see, there's a blonding situation that happens because banding, because while we know color doesn't lift color right. So there's all this old color down here that used to be red. Well, are you ready for a change? I am ready, so we want blonde highlight and then we also want maybe like a reddish base. Color - and you want contrast, i trust everything you do. That'S a huge responsibility: i'm going to have you take a seat, but before we get started we got to put the body condom, oh yeah. So before we get started with the color mixing, i want to really go and dissect, so you can really see. What'S going on here, you can see her natural hair is a level eight looking at the swatch page here tilt it to where you can see the depth of the swatch page she's a level eight and then, as she go down. She got lighter right here through this band, so she has one band: two band third band and fourth band. So this fourth band is due to her previous colors that she's done when she was copper red which she liked. But then she wanted to transition into blonde. So now, because color doesn't lift color down here, she's stuck with having that darker band of color. This is where lift me up system comes in, because lift me up is able to lift through color treated hair and give her the blonde she wants without overlifting, while giving her that blonde. She wants with harmony and control, so this is going to be great. Now look her ends, it looks damaged, but it's really not it's the texture of her hair cara. What would you call your texture? It gets frizzy, it's naturally like wavy and a little bit curly and people tend to think it's damaged just because of the texture, and this is the hard situation so anytime. I have clients and i take pictures of them and i put pictures of their hair up on instagram. They have natural texture. People automatically go. Oh her hair is damaged like it's not damaged, it's the natural texture of someone's hair. So we need to not stereotype people saying they have damaged hair when they really don't it's the natural texture of her hair, because her hair is naturally frizzy. She said it not me. This is the natural level finder. So anytime, you lighten someone's hair you'll, see red orange, yellow gold, all that stuff before it gets to blonde. We don't want her to be platinum white. We want her to still have gold in her hair. This is why lift me up is going to play a huge, crucial role here, all right. So, let's start mixing okay time to mix color got ta put my gauntlets on okay, because when we're doing these paranormal activity, it's serious business. So the first thing: what we're gon na do is mix. Lift me up. You can see the oil lift booster. We have three different flavors of shades that we could choose from. Obviously, today we're going to use bright, because this is my favorite shade bright - is everything i probably use this shade more than anything, because bright has that gold tone that gives you that bright reflection, so the hair looks healthy and bright right, especially during summer, because remember Not everybody needs ash. So let's go over the swatches here, because kara has the red hair. We do want to use the bright. Lift me up because you can see the pearl will not match her hair. Imagine if i put the pearl highlights into her hair. It won't look right because her base would be too warm for pearl highlights. We need to get our mind out of this purple. Shampoo everybody get that violet toner and tone everybody, so they can all look gray and purple and silver and ash. Not everybody needs that. Look at the foundation here, you have to work with the foundation. Hence why the bright blonde is going to be your best friend, all right cara. You may have a seat now darling, so the first thing we're going to do is with the lift me up system. It'S designed to work with magnum 8, the oil lift booster, the toner of choice with the developers, so you can do 10 volume, 20 volume, 30 volume or 40 volume. Now kara has level 8. She doesn't need 30 volume. She doesn't need 20 volume. She wants to retain warmth in her hair, so overlifting is a no. No. You want 10 volume because that's going to be the gentle length all right, so, let's start mixing we're gon na use. Magnum eight make sure you use the scale. Okay, measuring is everything okay, so 10 grams of magnum eight then we're gon na do 14 grams of the oil booster and 14 grams of bright toner right so remember: toner oil is equal parts. 14 14 is easy. Now the developer is 10 volume, so you're going to do 40 grams of 10 volume, so you can see the oil booster and the toner and the developer and the powder lightener we're gon na whisk that right on up what i love about. This consistency is that it's very fluid so you're able to penetrate through the hair very easily without much effort. So this is a great opportunity to splash on your olaplex, because you know what she needs to like. Her hair is a little bit dimagge. Okay, so a little squirtage less is more. Oh there you go. That'S all we need and then we're going to do a splash of the guy tang collagen powder. There you go, we need protection, so the mixing ratio has a few different options. I am going to show right here this chart make sure you screenshot this chart right here beside me, this is important. This is the mixing ratio that gives you the option, depending on your client's starting level. So today, i'm using the standard mixing option which gives you the standard, lift and standard deposit. Now you have the second choice, which is right here in the middle. That option is the extra lift but soft tone because you add less toner and oil in it. So you get more lift, but the tone is softer because you actually doubled the magnum eight. So that's why you're getting more lift the third option here to get the extra lift max tonal deposit, because you're actually using the same amount of toner, that you would in a standard but you're, actually doubling the magnum eight. So the more magnet you put in the more lift you get the more tone you put in the more tone you get and that's how this mixing ratio chart helps you determine how you're going to mix. I recommend you use, lift me up because it's going to change your life because you get to save time, lift and deposit all right. Let'S go so we're gon na use the air touch technique. I love using this technique, which you're gon na love doing too, because it's fun it's creative and it also make the highlights look more natural, so i am dividing carol's hair into two sections. This is going to be very simple. She generally parts down the middle, so this works perfectly. We don't want stripy highlights at the top of her head, but we do want the definition or the striped if you will to be more defined as you go down through the ends, because her hair tends to be more finer and more brittle. So if i did horizontal placement, the tones just get lost, she wants to see each ribbon of colors coming through, but she doesn't want the highlights, looking stripy on top of the head, and this is how we're going to do it. So what we're going to do is do diagonal forward placement. So you're going to see me go slice, this slice, slice, slice, slice slice until we get up to the front parietal. We are going to take that diagonal slice right now. As i look here, her hair is very short right down here. I might want to skip this slice because we don't want to enhance the shorter pieces because it can look like breakage and we don't want that. So the way we're going to hide that is by going right above that and take the next slice and take a look, always look at how the hair falls, especially how it falls right down on the ends. Don'T look at the scalp look at the ends so with that being said, i like this area, and this is going to be our first slice right in through there i'm going to hold the ends and you can see her hair gets kind of finer or thinner As it gets down to the bottom, so you're going to get your blow, dryer hold the hair out and blow dry all the short hairs out. And you can see all the short pieces coming out because we don't want to highlight and draw attention to those pieces, and you can see this is where you're going to pull all of those guys out. So, look at the difference in length see the short and then this is long, so we're not highlighting the short pieces we're only highlighting the long pieces and by separating it this is gon na look so soft and dimensional. You won't see that stripe. That'S how you create that blur. It automatically picks out the short pieces for you, and this is where lift me up comes in. It'S able to turn her hair blonde without causing any breakage, so we're gon na get our color board. You'Re gon na place the foil fold it over the board and then tuck the board in like so, and if you need to kind of push these little pillow pieces back, you can get that fine, toothed comb tuck it right behind the board right there in anchor. So you're gon na hold the ends here. Okay, so this is where you'll see the lift me up magic. Look at that it just penetrates right through because of the oil liquid consistency. You don't have to work that hard. You just lay the product on and it automatically penetrates itself. I don't really need to go all the way up too high, because color moves on its own and then fold the ends up. This is where we need that energy. The ends because the ends here is where it's the darkest, because she has a bunch of buildup of old color right down there, you're gon na lay the foil on top, just like so boom the guy tank foils that diagonal forward placement is going to be everything. Now, if you want additional lift, which i find for cara, her ends are kind of dark. If you want, you can actually fold the foil up. The reason why i'm doing it this way is because the hair being closer to the scalp conduct more heat, so you're going to get more, lift and more energy on those ends, so they can be brighter. Sometimes i do foil overlays, but what i find is that when i do foil overlays, the hair that hangs down here is the cold shaft, so it doesn't get as much lift the more heat you get up here. You'Re gon na get more brightness, so we're gon na skip about half an inch. We'Re gon na take a slice right above that you don't want to take such a huge skip because otherwise it'll be like you'll, see blonde and then you'll see dark and it'll. Be too spaced out, you want the blondes to be close to each other because she likes to be primarily blonde alright, so we just got done foiling her whole entire head. You can see all the diagonal four foils on both sides of the head here. So there's ten foils going on each side so now we're working around the money piece, the most important piece. So let's spin cara around here. So let's take a look at the situation here. So take a look at all these breakage that she has around the face and also, if i turn this blonde, this is normal. Everyone has like the hairline kind of moves back, so what happens is if you turn this really blunt. The light blonde hair can blend in with the forehead and what happens is it just looks like? Oh, the hair is thinning, so what you want to do is keep this as a base color. If you keep this as a base color, it makes sure that she does have a hairline. The hairline is very important and it also disguises the short hair that might look like breakage, and it gives time for that hair to grow out before you want to re-highlight the hair again. So now, what i do is i take the hair right above that section. We'Re going to take that thin slice then slices the key here, because it ensures that you get to take finer foils and then we're gon na blow dry, that hair right there and see. You can see all the short bits coming out right there and that's the cool part you're able to push away the short hair and that will become the base. Color push that out the way, so it can join forces with the other short hairs over here. So i'm going to add a little bit more collagen powder to the face frame because the hair here is a lot more delicate. So i'm just going to drop that in there to ensure that her hair is protected. So we're going to do a little bit more olaplex right there and drop that right in so we already blow-dried that short hair out. Now i'm going to put that foil right there. Now you want to work parallel to the hairline. So if the hairline is straight across or if it's a v shape, you want to work with it we're going to do back-to-back foils around the face, because we want to see as much blonde around the face as possible, because that's what cara wants we didn't give Her more of that money piece, but we still want that money piece to be protected because we don't want all this to come breaking off if needed to you could tuck that short hair back, so you can get closer to that hairline. I am using the guy tang my identity brush here it has a jagged bristle, so the edge of it kind of gives you a nice feather. So, even if you come close to that edge of the foil board, it still creates a nice jagged blend. All the foils in the back, you saw i skipped about half an inch here on the face frame, we're not going to skip any we're going to take this whole entire block here, which would be three back-to-back foils and then we're going to do the same thing Around her parietal area, so that ensures that you know that blonde really pop around the face like she wants. Have you ever seen this technique before kara? I have not. What do you think about it? I think it's really cool. Actually, i love that you're preserving the health of those little pieces yeah, because i'm sure you don't want your hair to break no, i don't want my hair to break. I have really sensitive hair. So that's why i was going red for a while part of the reason i also just i love being red. It'S bold, it's fun, but part of it was that my hair was so much healthier going darker as opposed to lighter just because it's so fine and sensitive. That'S a true story, because when you color your hair red, it actually looks healthier because you're actually adding pigment into the hair, and the thing is because your hair has so much red in it from your previous color we're going to work off of that you'll see You can see that this is two back to back full, so we're gon na do one more so that'll be three, so three three three three framing the face and then all the back is a skip of half an inch. That'S why you're gon na get that nice frame around the face we're going to be back to mix her base color now we're going to mix your base color amazing, you know with your hair fold it back with the foils. I could see all the brickage. That'S hanging around. I know we're really highlighting right now for you all right, so you can see all the brickage that's left out. Obviously i left them out because we don't want to highlight them so we're mixing the base color, because the base color is going to go throughout concealing the short pieces. So what we're going to do is use naked, glow 9 with 10 volume. So this is pretty much going to be your base. Color now keep in mind, it's not going to look like this tone, because her natural level is an eight, so keep in mind natural level eight. So when you lift the hair with permanent color, it exposed warmth. So you're gon na get yellow gold in the hair already. So it's going to be a combination of this tone mixed with the underlying pigment that is exposed when introduced to permanent hair color because it has ammonia in it. So with that being said, i don't want the scalp to glow, because her natural hair is lighter than the hair. That'S been colored down here, so i have to formulate this very strategically. So we're going to mix, twilight, dream seven twilight the name of my song, we're trying that together too. I know a big moment twilight dream it's a gold base, so it's a natural gold. So it's a balanced tone. It ensures that i'm able to blend it in with the naked glow nine and get like a nice shadow blend, but not make her too too red because her goal is, you know she likes the warmth but you're not trying to revisit copper. She already has these artificial red color from her past. What we're gon na do is work with her past work with this natural kind of ginger red tone that has been left over, because it's beautiful, we love the color, so adding gold to it is only going to make it pop like what popcorn that's right, get That butter, okay, so we're going to squeeze out a full tube of naked glow 9 because we like gold, so we're going to mix this up. This is our first color. This is her routage color. So after you whip this right on up, we are going to add all effects to it. What i do like about olaplex is that it has a ph of 3.5 having the php drop. A little bit prevents hot roots. Okay, so, let's add some olaf likes. This is a great time for us to talk about your music too. So where can we check out your music huh? So my music is everywhere. Music is found, spotify apple, music title. You can go to my website for my cd. I have a physical copy of the cd that i signed. It has a bunch of little extras to it, but yeah it's everywhere. It'S under cara, connelly my name character who ends two o's. That'S what i was saying. No one knows how to spell connolly, they're like cannoli or like listen, we're gon na put her name right here right here. This is her name. This is house phone. You can search. It everywhere check out her music video, something more uh shout out to marco and ashley who's, currently filming us right now, marco, yes, who also films a lot of my music, though who also films, twilight. We don't have to wonder check it out. So when did you start getting into music? You know i've been writing songs really. As long as i can remember recently, i saw a friend of mine that i knew in second grade and she started singing this song and i was like she's like do you remember this, and i said oh yeah and in my head i was thinking like it Was a jingle from a television commercial because i could sing it and i remembered all the words and then she was like. Oh no, you wrote that i guess i realized like. I was writing them, but i didn't you had a gift that you didn't. I just didn't know that i wasn't even considering it songwriting at all, because i was just like walking around and like. I would make jokes and sing songs like that was just what i did. That'S that's the things like you had a gift that you didn't even know you had. Sometimes you don't know that that's what you're destined for yeah right you're, just you kind of ignore the thing you're good at. Sometimes you do okay. So the second formula is naked. Glow 9 by itself now the reason why i'm using naked glow by itself with 10 volume, you know instead of using demi, because denmark's going to add color on top of color, which only makes it darker i'm using permanent color, because it creates a disruption in the Melanin the ammonia goes in, it creates the disruption it makes the color new again, it enhances what she already has and i'm going to add more olaplex to this formula, because she's gon na need a little bit more olaplex, because the hair on the ends here is A lot more older, it's a little bit more dimagg. So when you squeeze out just a little bit more, this is a little lot more, but you need it. Okay, you need it. You don't want any more cheese to you as we go and color your hair. We'Re going to discuss more about our music together. Okay, thanks all right, come on, let's go! Let'S go, let's go: let's go! Okay! It'S time to base you ready or not so formula. One is gon na go right on the routage, the scalp area. This is the one that has twilight dream, which is my favorite shade by the way. It'S our new dream collection, twilight, dream is everything and then mixed with naked glow nine. So speaking of twilight, dream we're talking about how twilight is a song that we met. That'S that's where we met well, you were the guitarist. Yes, i was. I played the electric guitar in the music video and we had a fun little moment on stage. That'S my favorite moment yeah. When i think about you, i think about that moment same. We were like like it was it had so much good energy. I felt we were having a lot of fun on set too. I felt like doing that. You know that was so much fun yeah, i think it showed in the video like you could tell that there was that chemistry yeah. Yes, the chemistry, that's when we became friends, yeah yeah, just in that moment and then to realize, like you, make your own music, you have your own music videos, something more such a great song and you write all your own songs. I do yes, that's kind of my thing is i write everything and i'm also really involved in the creative direction and visuals and and all of it i kind of wear a lot of different hats. As i know, you do also yeah um, which is probably why we get along so well. You do hair and you also make music and you're also like such a brilliant business person like you, have all these sides to yourself, and you know for myself and my music, like i'm, also an actor and i've done various different jobs over the years. You know, because i listened to so many different genres of music. I love hip-hop. I love r b. I love pop. I love country, yeah alternative. I love rock. I love 80s music. So it's a comic. My music is a combination of everything i love all. These sounds but people like to make you choose they go like well. Are you a pop singer? Are you a ballad singer and they do that in every category like even in the hair, even in the hair world, they go. Are you a colorist or a cutter, or a updo stylist or a barber i like to do it all like i like to braid hair, i like to style her, i like to color hair, i like to cut hair and music's the same way, but they all Try to get you to pick a lane, you know everyone say stay in your lane and even when i first started doing music, they said: why is he doing music for? Why? Don'T he just stick to hair, i'm like that is so annoying when people say that because i was like well what do you like to do well and you're limiting the potential of somebody right like or you're limiting yourself, because i said god forbid, you ever say That to your children, limiting their dreams to anyone who look up to you when you only put yourself in one thing: how are you going to be evolving because when you're 45 or 50, your passion might change everything might change as we get older. So what we have to do is be able to embrace all these passions that naturally occur as we age and stop putting people in the box it's harmful. It is, and you get in your head, sometimes you're, like oh shoot. If i don't pick, i'm not gon na i'm gon na fail at everything like you know, you get you get in your head because of these things that people say but then there's always so many exceptions to this rule yeah. So you're, like that's, not even fully true, and where did you get this idea from even like we said like in the music industry, they make you pick one you're. Are you a country singer? Are you a rap artist? Are you a you know? Yeah yeah. You know like they make you, i even find this with songwriting and being an artist, because i'm a songwriter for other artists which i've chosen to do, because i love writing songs and i also am an artist for myself and you'll. You see certain business people being like, oh well, we're only signing just songwriters like we don't want them to also wanting to be an artist there's such a stigma, sort of in a way where it's like. Well, if, if you're seen as this you're, not seen as that, oh you're seen as this songwriter you're not seen as an artist or you're seen as an artist, so there's no way you could be like brought into the room as a songwriter. It even goes: there see everything kind of comes full circle. It'S all stereotyping boxing people in limiting people we're not into it we're not into it. You see how they all kind of sound the same i want to know for you. Have you ever experienced anything that has made you feel boxing leave your comments below. I want to know, because me and cara definitely don't want to feel like we're alone. Yeah like it can't just be us right. It can't just be us, so you can see right now that i am applying the first formula onto the routage area. One of the main things you want to watch for is when you fold the hair up, you can see here you want to go in the foil and tap just a little bit so that way, there's no an even spot. You want to make sure you hit every hair and then close the fold right back up, tap it back down and remember this first formula: has the twilight dream seven? So it is a level seven. So it's a level deeper than her natural hair color, which is an eight, but because it's a warm color and we did mix it with naked glow nine. It will appear level on level. It will not appear dark, but the reason why i chose a darker level is because she does have a light band here and i want to kind of erase that and blur that right on out. So she has a nice blend into her natural hair. Color and the thing is you don't want to make it too blocky? You want to feather the product out because we are going to use the second formula through the ends right through there and then repeat until you go all the way down and cara you're very passionate. Just like me, i could tell you have a lot to say. We have a lot to say here, you're, very, very passionate, one of the things. One of the things i love doing. Hair, too, is being able to get to know my clients right yeah, because in the beginning, when i first started doing hair videos and tutorials and stuff people said like shut up, why are you talking about all these things? Well, i'm like human being, i'm not a robot, but isn't that, like some of the best part about getting your hair done, is like having these great conversations with your hairdresser. You like that, i find as a client like i love getting to know it's a personal relationship and it's true what you're saying, because you don't just go to the salon and you sit down and then there's no conversation and you slap color in the hair. You want to have a conversation, get to know your clients, because everyone talks about client retention. Your clients, loyalty to you, is based off a relationship. Everything is about relationship, communication and being cared for, because, if you care about you know your clients, your clients will stay loyal to you. So when you first apply color, it's always scary, because it looks like it's going dark, but you have to trust the process because remember permanent color has ammonia. It needs to lift the hair, so the hair can shift. So you can see here boom that natural warmth come out for hair. We use the twilight dream, which is a natural gold with naked glow nine, which is a gold beige, so gold naturally reflects light, and then, when you lift, hair hair naturally has warmth in it. So this is what's happening, it's exposing the natural red, that's in your hair and then the gold goes in, supplement it and enhance it, which gives us the perfect reason to use twilight dream, because it gives that perfect warmth that we need to compliment her warm hair Down here and because she doesn't like that, ashy hair that she naturally has this is the best way to enhance her, because remember, some of us need warmth in our life all right, so we're going to do an in between all right, so we're taking the same Formula kind of bring it down midway. This is really important because it doesn't create that harsh line, because if you only place it right on the scalp, then all of a sudden - you know it's like dark and light. You don't want that. You want to bring this down a little bit. Warmth is such a popular shade right now more than ever, and i'm so glad because warm color does look so healthy. It'S healthier for the hair too, because you're working with the hair's natural underlying pigment versus working against it so you're, seeing i'm lifting up each foil and i'm dragging this formula down and swiping like this, because the rest of this will be naked globe. Nine, using your thumb to lift that foil place that formula right there and bring that right on down we're gon na. Let you process for 30 minutes and we are actually you want to perform a song for us yeah. Should i sing something you'll give us a teaser okay. What are we hearing today, uh? Okay, so this is the karaoke version of my song roses. It'S all about slowing down savoring the moment and recognizing the little things in life that matter the most. So i am excited, i'm gon na, be your background dancer. They tell me down before you break down now. I'M almost there now been busy thinking how much i'm working it just isn't working trying trying to be somebody, and now i'm paying. I wan na wear time with the new dress, send love letters across oceans even if they never get there. It is perfect timing because it's time to rinse out your color now it's time it's time. Are you ready? Yes, all right, it's time to rinse out your hair color. Now that was a fun cara opie session. No, we should do more of them. I like that that was fun. I'M rinsing out your color right now, oh, it's so pretty! So what i like to do is i like to rinse off the base color first, just so it doesn't contaminate. The lift me up highlights you want to kind of separate, sometimes a great trick for some people they like to emulsify the color into the highlights, but i don't want to do that because i want the lift me up colors to be bright. So i'm just rinsing out as much as i can of the base. Color. Okay. Well, here's the big moment, because this is the pull out. Are you ready? Okay, i'm gon na pull out? Are you ready? Look at those beautiful highlights? Oh my gosh. Okay, here's the thing as i'm pulling this out. It looks like it's very, very yellow right because of the toner, but when i rinse you will see here that it's not and how it complements. So well, i'm no yellow head! No all right! So we just rinsed out the color, so the first step is putting olaplex number two into the hair, so this will treat her hair because her hair is so dimagged. Now that we let that sat in for a few minutes. Oh my god! Look at that dimension and this compliments your blue eyes. Yes, oh my gosh, now we're i'm gon na shampoo, her hair with guides. Hang my cup, not color, securing shampoo. This is like heaven, it smells so good yeah. It smells so good. It makes your hair feel super clean, while securing the color that you just put into your hair. So what i love about my confidence, color securing shampoo - is that it brings clarity to the hair because a lot of times when we have clouded debris on our hair, you can't really see the color, but it doesn't strip the hair like it removes the debris while Bringing out that reflection and shine that the hair has this is gon na look so pretty. I could see it already. This color is your color. I am so excited me too. So the next step is guy. Take my hero, collagen repair. This is a cuticle sealer and a hair softener, so you can feel the hair instantly feel softer on contact right when you spray it onto the hair. I love this and it smells so good too. Oh yeah, this smells so good. Can you smell it yeah? So you can see when the hair is wet. A lot of the warmth naturally come through because remember what i said: we're talking about the hair has natural red in it. So when you add more red to it, it's gon na be more red, you're. Gon na add gold to it. It'S gon na bring out the red, so sometimes all you need is gold to let that natural red come through all right. We'Re gon na rinse this out. Oh nice, all right now we're gon na rinse this out dry, her hair and we'll be back it's time for the big reveal. Are you ready cara? You know if it's just oh, what do you think honey? I am obsessed with it. We were saying it's like. Even better than i could have imagined, even though i have full faith in you, and i love you and i trust you, but i was like blown away when i saw this. It looks so much healthier. It does it's like kind of crazy how much healthier it looks right, and can we talk about the breakage okay, so she came in with breakage around here, and i told you if i took those darker and put the highlights behind it. It would actually defuse it and kind of you told me that, but i needed to see it, and now you believe that i believe i open up the hair. You can see all the dimension. We talked about how her hair is a natural level. Eight right here. This is a natural level eight, and so, when you lighten the hair with gold, for example, the hair already has warmth in it. But what happens? Is the gold pops out and then you get this natural red that looks like you're born with it? Isn'T that insane? It was so crazy. I would never have thought and that's the thing. A lot of us make that mistake on adding more red. It becomes too red. You can see that we use the bright right, so here's the swatch you can see when she turns her hair to the side. Look how the bright swatch matches those highlights right in through there. You can see those golden highlights that pop and it looks so dimensional and it matches. I want to take this time to really appreciate the dimension and all the hard work we put in with the lift me up. So when i open up her hair dissect it and move this, you can see the highlight where we place it in. You can see that diagonal forward foil placement, where you can see that definition of the highlight and how bright and vibrant and warm that blondeness and how this blonde complements her base. Color with the naked glow and twilight dream now. Remember if you were to put ash, highlights and tone it with violet, it will look very muddy and dull and that's why the bright lift me up highlight is a perfect choice to get this result and look at that dimension. Take a close look! Look how healthy this color is on your hair and see here through the front how it naturally falls. It looks so gorgeous right, so you remember how the front looked like there's breakages, so these were those short blonde pieces that she had in the front but before because they were blonde, they poked right out. They look like breakers because now i turned them into a base color, and then i put the highlight right behind that. So you can see where the highlight color pops, where the length is what happens, is your eyes naturally gravitate towards the light? So you no longer see those breakage because your eyes are drawn towards the lighter pieces. So it's hard to see it because the air touch technique blurs the highlight so well. Now you can see the bright highlights pop right there in front of your face and take a look at this short breakage that she had is darker, because now your eyes gravitate towards the highlight and not the contour, the short piece boom. You only see that blonde piece highlighting hair is about creating movement. It'S about drawing the attention to the longer pieces, so it can accentuate and create eye movement and flow and make the hair look healthier. We hope you like this awesome technique. The error touch technique is awesome. Lift me up is awesome cara. Any last words. I just want to say i love it and thank you so much you're, so talented. Well, i'm gon na leave all the links below. Maryann Nguyen: As always you do gorgeous hair, Guy! Yes, I do feel characterized as an Asian girl that I'm supposed to look or act a certain way. As I get older, I care less about what people think. I have to be true to my own identity as a person. You have open our eyes. You have made it possible for us to see that's being different doesn't mean you can't succeed! We just have more choices than others because we're more adequate for our skill sets.

MamaStyles: In a sea of ashy blondes....I love bright hair like this.I of course myself ended up with a similar horrific situation...but now going to try and do my broken pieces the same...single mom here who right now can’t afford to get it professionally done because well we need food on the table but guy your tips have saved me the past few years and I always get compliments and I tell people go watch Guy Tang he’s simply THE BEST

Kara Connolly: I'm still so obsessed with this color! Thank you for making me and so many others feel good in their skin! I adore you as a human and an artist, and I absolutely love this hair! The color dreams are made of!!!

Theresia Singleton: I love it when you say paranormal hairtivity! It's been awhile since you've said it. No, you guys are definitely not alone! I'm an African American woman and I love r&b, rap, pop, country and more! When any of my family look at my Spotify music list they're like you shouldn't be listening to this! Have you forgotten what color you are? I'm like really?! Really!? I can listen to whatever the hell I want to listen to! I know I'm black! But hell I love a variation of music! Mind your own damn business! So yeah, my family wants to box me in on what music I listen to but I set them straight. Her hair turned out beautifully! And Kira is just as beautiful. I'm going to check out her music.

Tinkerbell: Guy is a GENIUS! I love how he explains and its crazy how well thought out all the products are and overall beautiful job as always!

Oonagh72: I wish I could remember the singer who was a beautician first. She did everyone’s hair when she was on tour starting out. It was funny because she said they would rehearse while she was curling their hair. The reason you want to talk to your clients is because you need to know their energy. Hair styling is a very intimate service. You both have to feel extremely comfortable with one another.

inna172134: Beautiful hair and color suits the model. The color is better than before. Looks great.

Captain Morgan: Kara, oh my gosh...I was very surprised how your hair turned out. Your hair looks so beautiful and healthy. Great job Guy Tang! I still need to come in for my Dom Special very soon.

Ebony Roots: Always love your videos, so educational. I can’t afford the products (nursing student) but the techniques and restoration of nourishment is amazing!Ive recently bleached a few highlights in my ‘fro and toned with Wella T35 :)… I’m always confused on when to do hair dye. First bleach? Second tone? Third color? I want brown roots with my golden highlights (or “patches” as my husband says)

Nicholas Giaquinto: A really beautiful correction with a thoughtful approach.

AnBrea's Beauty Salon: I love the technique you do , you make the service fun and creative

Gracie Shepard to the Max: Ahhh! When hair and power tools collide. I’d put in an air pump to come down from ceiling. Easy access and if pump is in another room, not so loud or ruining the on/off switch on blow dryer.

marbella love: Hola. Saludos desde México. Me encantaría que alguien como tú arreglará mi cabello. ❤️
