Let'S talk about this look because this look is everything for me girl. Okay, like i swear once i get my wig installed, and my makeup is done like you just can't talk to me, you can't you actually just can't okay, i'm living too much, i'm living! Okay! I'M done what is up how's it going. My name is janelle jackson, and this is the butterfly effect. I'M just going to jump right in i'm not going to give a big spiel. You guys know what you're here, for you want to see this hair video and i want to show it to you. So, let's get started so first, i want to start off with the hair company that i bought my hair from which is virgin hair supply. What you are seeing right here is the wig out of the box. I haven't cut the lace, yet it is like. I said that frosted white, all over from root to tip this wig is a 32 length. Wig website said it was 180 density. It came already styled on their website. They have what they call a ready to ship. So first, i'm going to introduce you guys to the stuff that i'm actually using for this, so i'm using olea. I love the olia brand. The conditioner is amazing. I'M using two boxes of dark blonde, two boxes of medium blonde and then one box of dark brown. My tools that i'm using to help me with right now are two small mixing bowls, the shimlite shampoo and the silicone mix. What you are seeing is, i have mixed the dye and the bottles that come in the box, i'm following the instructions and i'm mixing the dye into the bottles. What i'm doing afterwards is pouring those bottles into the two mixing containers, and i am now going in um, the bottom of the hair and i'm going section by section and i'm rotating between the dark blonde and the medium blonde. Now i'll say right away. Some of you are probably watching this like girl. Where is the brush you're using your hands? Okay, um! I'M sorry! I got like way too excited in the moment. I realized that the brush that i was using was really really small. I bought a small brush that was for the roots i didn't think of buying one that was like bigger, so it would like capture more hair, so i'm dying a wig, that's 32 inches in length is 180 density. I was not trying to use the brush because i'm not doing something. That'S really technique-based. Like a balayage. I apologize in the next video. I will do it anyway. I'M going layer by layer, i'm starting on the bottom layer of my hair. Then i'm going layer by layer and putting medium then dark and medium and dark, so i'm just taking the dye into my hand, i'm always just like really slathering that die in, because i have four boxes. I have more than enough dye for sure what i also will say that i kind of like fluffed up here a bit, and i would definitely change next time. Is i didn't part, the hair in section so you're, seeing me right now struggle with having a full bodied wig and i'm trying to part each row and then clip it and dye it one? I have dye on my gloves now that i'm putting back into the wig, so i'm getting parts of the wig um dye that i probably don't want like. I said i wasn't too fussy with this one, because i just wanted it to be random, dark and medium blonde throughout the wig, which, honestly now that's washed out, you cannot see it, but if i was doing something like a balayage, you definitely want to make sure That you are very particular with how you were doing your hair. If you were doing this following this video, don't do what i did. Please part your hair in sections, so it's just easier for you for you to use a comb and, like part through and then you're, not having this like massive weight of a wig falling down on you. So as you can see, the wig is saturated. I'Ve used the dark blonde and the medium blonde, all throughout the wig, from literally the top of the way down to the end, and i have now let the wig sit for the amount of time the box head, which i believe was 30 minutes. But i did leave it for longer, that's just me and then now i am going into rinse. I brought my hair into my kitchen sink and i started rinsing. I use a shimmer lights shampoo to rinse um, for those of you who have are not familiar with shimmer lights. It is a toning shampoo which is great for blondes, and so i've gone and i'm rinsing it like quite a few times really making sure that all of the dye is out of there making sure the shampoo is rinsed out completely and then going in with the Uh conditioner from olea. What you do want to do when you are dying, is to leave your wig in the conditioner overnight or even for a couple of hours. Even if it's one hour, i put the conditioner in there, i comb it out i'll, usually wrap it in a plastic bag or something and leave it um just to let the conditioner really soak and do what it's supposed to do into the hair. That way, if you do have other steps afterwards, which i did then your hair is just going to be well protected. So now i have rinsed out the hair and i have a lid on the towel now what you're seeing is like the first time i went in with this die, and i say first time because i did go back in. I did not film this i'm. So sorry guys, but i did go back in and dye this hair again personally, it wasn't as dark as i wanted it. I don't think that when i was layering the dark and the medium blonde, i thought maybe i mapped it out. Okay, so the dark blonde. Also sat on the top really well, but it just came out too light. I could tell already just by the way it looked, even though it was wet that um i did like it and i apologize for not showing you guys what it looks like dry, but i am going to cut the clip of what you are seeing, which is Now i've um dyed the hair a second time all i did was buy one box of the dark blonde. I went in row by row again, so i tried to follow what i did last time so every other row i was doing dark blonde. I'M showing you a screen of um, a side-by-side comparison of the first time that i washed the wig out and then the second time i've washed the wig out. You should be able to see that it has a bit of like a darker tone to it. I definitely got that um dyeing it second time, so now i'm actually showing you the wig when it's dry, i'm sorry, i didn't show it the first time, but this is what the wig looks like after i dyed it, the second time so, just to recap, i Did medium and dark blonde throughout rinsed it out which you saw and then i went back in with a dark blonde dye, just one box and did every other row like i did trying to follow suit. What i did before so i'm showing you part by part in the way, how it turned out and you're, probably seeing some like white roots in there. It'S totally fine, i'm going to dye that brown anyway. So it's okay, but like girl, look at that like it is so freaking gorgeous. I am in love. It is a perfect honey that i want. It has the low lights. The highlights you can even see it as, like. You part it throughout. You can see where it's just giving you all kind of dimension, so imagine when that's curled like so what i'm doing now is i'm parting, the hair to now go ahead and dye the dark brown part of the wig. Now i was going to dye everything dark brown, but i decided at the end i was like. I just need to get through this wig. I am way too excited to wear this, so i kind of cheated a little bit. All i did was dye the lace and then two rows of the wefts. This is a four by thirteen lace, frontal. It does only go four in the middle, it does come down and do two inches on the side. What you're seeing right now is me parting and i'm separating the lace away from the wig and then i'm taking two rows of the top like wefts at the top of the wig and separating that as well, because those are the two top parts that are dark. Brown, so that you can see. Basically, this is what was done. Only the two pieces up here were were dying. Also, what i'm doing to protect the wig is i'm using the got to be spray and i'm spraying it inside of the wig, because i am dyeing it brown. I do want to make sure that it doesn't like dye my roots and then now i may have to go back in and bleach into another stuff. I don't want to do so. I am protecting with god to be spray and letting that dry before i apply the brown dye to the hair. So now i'm showing you guys the dye that i'm using it is the dark brown olea dye, and it's just one box that i'm using for the roots. This is a very intricate process. It is it was. It was only because of the situation with the wig trying to go very slow, or at least trying to show you what happened with my wig, but i will say it was a blessing in disguise, so you really want to go in. First of all, with your brush and go as gentle as possible, you also want to part your hair as thin as possible because you really want to make sure that you're getting the dye throughout all of the hair um. If you part too thick, it may not saturate all the way through. So that's a first tip. I was having an issue because i had these really short hairs in the roots of my hair that were these like flyaways. So when i would go in with a dark brown dye and try to use the brush and like brush the dye on there, i would move the brush away and there would be these like hairs that got like caught in the dye that i didn't have to. Like you know, put the brush down, go in try to use paper towel or something and like remove the brown, or else literally you'd, be seeing brown throughout the hair. If i had left it there, so i tried going in with the frizzy tamer that i had a l'oreal serum. I wish i showed it on camera. I'M sorry, but it's a serum that i usually use in my wigs just like get rid of the flyaways and tame the hair. So i would put a little bit of my fingers rub it together, rub it in the hair and then try putting the dye over it did not work like literally, would not work. I don't know. I just don't understand why, but i had a lot of these short little title to fly away so row by row. I'M just showing you guys like there are sometimes things happen when you're doing your hair and you're like. Why doesn't it just work but, like i said it worked out because after i've rinsed it out, i got the exact look that i wanted. So the look that i wanted was not something that was a blunt cut like i didn't want it to be. Like a blunt, oh here's, the brown root and then boom, here's blonde. I wanted it to be like gradient. I wanted just see the brown gradually turn into the honey blonde. That was what i was going for. I used a technique of brushing it really gently and lightly and kind of like feathering a little bit so you're, not just like painting it and doing a brush paint. You just want to like feather the root a little bit so that the dye just kind of trails off and can gradiently go into the blonde um, but because of those flyaways, those flyaways that i was rubbing out, some of them, i'm i'm pretty sure i rubbed Most of the dark brown out, but some of them still didn't so you have these like brown pieces that are a little bit longer than others, but it worked out perfectly because it gave my roots exactly what i wanted like it gave up everything and honestly, if This is your first time like take your time like i have dyed my hair before i haven't actually done this technique before i've done a reverse technique, meaning i bought a wig that was like a 1b or a natural color brownish black color, which is my own Natural hair, color and then just dyed it blonde, but this is the first time i'm doing a reverse, so don't feel intimidated like you can't do this, like you, can totally totally do this. Just take your time. Follow the steps that i'm telling you or any other youtube video that you're watching? I was getting frustrated because of the flyaways but, like i said it worked out in my favor, but yeah take a breath and it's gon na be fine. It'S gon na be great. It'S gon na turn out so perfectly. What you're also seeing is the two top wefts right behind the lace that i also dyed, brown and, like i said i could have done the whole wig, but i just knew that like this is the style you're gon na get i'm gon na part it to The side, i'm not doing anything where you're gon na see the back of my wig, so i really didn't think it was necessary if you're doing something like this, you want to shortcut it. The way i did, i would probably buy a rude touch up. It'S probably cheaper, it's less dye that way. You'Ll have enough dye to just do your lace and then a little bit of the two rows of wefts that you want to do as well. You want it to look like it is everywhere else. Thankfully, with the got to be spray, she protected me. I went down as far as i could to the roots, but not too too far, so i'm gon na wash it out. I definitely left her to um soaking conditioner for a while, and here she is dried and ready for you guys. Oh, my gosh, like look at her, i'm so blown away at how amazing this turned out, like you guys, have no idea how i'm parting through the hair. So i can show you guys just how perfect it turned out. I did not want a blunt transition of dark brown to the blonde. I wanted something that was just like: hey here's blonde she's here it's great and i got exactly that. What you're, also probably seeing, is, if you are someone who pays attention to detail what you're, probably also seeing, is one side of the lace. The dark brown is like a little bit longer like i died a little bit more in length than the other side. Now this side, i believe, is the side that i started with first and i did initially want the dark brown root to be like a small amount. I wanted most of the hair to be blonde because, like i was explaining to you guys, i was going through that frustrating situation, i'm trying to dye the roots and i was having a flyaway problem. I think i got like halfway through and i was like i'm over it like i'm over it. On top of my battery dying, i was like okay, i can't so i was not rushing, but i did not pay attention to the like length of strokes that i was using. So you kind of see it but, like i said for me, it worked out because i really only part my hair to one side and she's covered. You would literally never know like unless i style my hair differently and unless you're really looking at my scalp, which, like you shouldn't be that close though. But yes, that is a little bit of a thing, but like literally i'm not even faced by it, because it's might turn out perfectly like it look at it again. Look at no, no look at it again. She turned out perfectly. I can't i absolutely can't this was perfect. That'S exactly this is what i wanted. There'S nothing about this. That was like uh. I don't know. I don't know it is exactly exactly what i wanted perfect from head to toe, so so so so so excited this. Is the way it turned out and cannot wait to style her at this moment as what you're seeing me comb through it? I'M all i'm thinking is like we're gon na we're gon na. Let me she's gon na look really cute she's gon na look really cute. Okay, that is it i'm so so so happy with this wig. My next step is definitely gon na, be to style and cut the lace. Do all that fun stuff. So if you really want to see that, like click and watch, my next video, because you're going to want to see how i put this bad boy on, i will be continuing on with more videos. Dre: This was a great tutorial! To address the short hairs issue you had when tinting the roots I just wanted to say those are the “return” hairs from when they hand tied the lace frontal. They are super annoying because they make rooting wigs unnecessarily hard you still killed it tho
