How To Trim The Lace On A Lace Front Wig

Stick around to the end for my Halloween photos wearing the wig.

1. Pin the wig to a head form & tie the hair back.

2. Use sharp scissors to trim the mesh lace as close to the hairline as possible.

3. Clean up any jagged edges and then unpin the wig.

4. Usually you will need to glue down the hairline when you wear it.

You can of course bobby pin the wig to your head and trim it in the mirror. Or lay the wig flat on a table with tied back hair and carefully trim the lace that way. You can also leave a few millimeter of lace if you wanna.

PS No, I'm not going for realistic looking hair with this platinum wig. ;) See my previous video on where I bought it.

Hi there today, I thought I'd bring you another tutorial, I'm going to show you how to trim the lace off of a lace front wig. So sometimes it's trimmed at the factory, but sometimes it has extra lace here along the hairline and my lace. They really mean mesh, because that is like a netting mesh sometimes referred to as French lace, and then each hair is individually hand tied into that netting to make it give you a natural hair line now, why do they leave it on there, like that? They leave it on there because some people like to add their own hair in if they know how to sew a little bit. Some people will leave a half inch or an inch of lace and then glue that down, but usually, that is for, say a drag. Wig for a show, where somebody's not going to be really close to you or for theater and plays, and things like that, where you want the wig to last a long time and give you some versatility, maybe in the next couple years of changing that up. But for you and me, usually that means cutting as close to that hair line as you possibly can. So, let's get started so the supplies you're going to need are scissors and, as I like to refer this to them in my house, the good scissors you just want something sharp these happens to be haircutting scissors. These are craft scissors that have been used on many. Many things they may not be as sharp as we want. So, let's not use any old pair of scissors. Then you will need something to put your wig on to. This is a canvas wig head and it is same measurements as my head, which is about 22 inches, but you can certainly use a Styrofoam head or your own head or your friend's head. Whatever you need so we're going to take the wig, put it on and pull the lace down and then you're going to need some pins. These are just sewing pins. If you go to Sally's, you can get what we call T pins, which are a little better than these, but I'm out of T pins and we're just going to put it in every so often to hold that way in place. While we are cutting - and this just keeps it from moving around okay, now that I have my wig pinned on to the stand - and I have pulled it back - we're gon na go ahead and start cutting and you're gon na pull on the lace, gently make sure You'Re not cutting any of the hairs and as close as you can go ahead and cut now, once you have this bit, you can trim that off if it's more helpful for you and then keep going, go ahead and cut that excess off and then I'm gon Na start back from the other edge, all right, BZ, a spelling. So now that is trim that's hard to tell, because it is rather the same color. Now, let's go ahead and unpin it and try it on

Perry Rice: Hey I had a handmade wig made. With my neighbor's hair. Now the hair is coming through the other side of the lake. How do I put it back in the front way. A few of the strands are coming apart on the inside.
