What'S up guys welcome back to another video where we are going to be talking about side parts and how do you cut a shape with the side parts, especially maybe a shag, maybe yeah, that's what we're going to be doing today. Stay tuned guys! It'S coming right up, so with the side part, we want to keep in mind that this is going to be the heavier side right now, we're going to be cutting this into a shag shape, and we want to keep in mind that if this is going to Be heavier you're, going to have to texturize and adapt your angle from your left to your right side. Side parts can be challenging, but in today's video i really want to keep it super simple and easy for you to understand. First, off what we want to do is we want to find exactly where we find our natural parts. If this is your first time to my channel, welcome if it's not your first time to my channel and you've, never seen me find my parting, like i do when i'm gon na be cutting like a face framing and or a shag, we're gon na go ahead And link those videos right over here, but what i like to do to recap is: i will just mimic the hairline right through here, so this is going to be my first section right through there. I'M going to do this over here on the left side as well. After i take my first section on the left and the right side. Now, i'm going to establish my shape through here now. The thing you have to keep in mind is that doing this side, part right, we're usually going to i'm going to kind of cut the shape a little bit like so, and then i'm going to cut this a little bit like. So, knowing that this is our weaker side, we're going to make this a little bit steeper versus with this is going to be a little bit more shallow. So if you can visualize how this is going to look just like that, and then this is going to look just like that, so it's not as shallow like that. It'S gon na be a little bit deeper because we have to make up for how much hair this hair is actually traveling over, and so we want to open up the face a little bit more over here on this side. So let's go ahead and do that. Let'S get that smooth buttery b-roll happening right now, the thing i want you to really notice about that again, i'm just going to recap this really quick! This is a little bit more shallow right here and you can see how, if i would have kept this going. Just like here, i kind of curved around a little bit more like a c. If i would have kept this going through here, i would have cut this corner off and then, as this would have started to look, you know you would have started to create more of a round graduation going all the way down through there. So, with this side and again this side's, not as shallow it's a little bit more vertical, just like this to create for that weakness. Now, what i'm going to do is i'm going to start taking sections that mimic these and i'm just going to be pulling this through, and i'm going to be pushing it slightly through here to keep that angle going all right guys. So the thing i really want you to pay attention to here is that you can see how much of this face that we've opened up dealing with a side part right. You saw how heavy this hair was right through this specific area. Now it still is a little bit heavy we're going to go ahead and dry this and i'm going to go in i'm going to refine, because this specific, like little triangle right through here, is we're going to spend a lot of detail kind of removing some of That weight so that hair stays out of the face. So we'll do that later. But you can see how you can still essentially create a really beautiful like layered front, a shag, ish kind of look even kind of a curtain kind of like fringe dealing on the side part as well. So no guys like it doesn't really matter where you at you just need to adjust for weight. Now that comes down to detail and we'll do that dry. But let's go ahead and get this smoothed out and as i start to smooth this out, i'm going to be using a combination of a mason pearson style brush and a round brush as well. And i'm really going i'm not going to build up a ton of volume, but i mainly want to get this hair kind of moving away from the face. So let's go ahead and do that now. So, as you can see, one of the things i really want you guys to keep in mind is that this has a very kind of like fawcett kind of feel to it, which of course the hair is like right down in her eye like right through here, But once we start to kind of push this back and we start to kind of texturize you're going to see how all of this is going to have a nice roll back, which will be awesome. But as i was starting to round brush one of the things you want to keep in mind is that essentially the direction that you put your round brush whether that direction is going to be vertical here and or here or horizontal, is vastly going to affect how Your hair rolls back horizontal like this you're going to have hair that kind of flips out the more angled it goes, you're going to have that kind of roll back that'll roll back into itself. So keep that in mind. That is extremely crucial, as you start to style this. Now, as i start to comb through here and i'm going to put this, i mean you've got this nice beautiful layer in the front. It looks pretty awesome, as is already just like that, but we really want, of course want to take it to that next level. You know there's still some heavy points over here on this side, but this has got a really kind of fun kind of shaggish kind of look to it, shag being on a side part, so keep in mind. You can do this as well. There'S just things you got to detail when it comes down to texturizing. Now this is where you can almost put your signature. You'Re. Like signature, my wife says my signature. Looks she can't really read it, but that's what's so artistic about it, you know. Maybe we'll do a little after effects, whatever all right, i think i'm pretty funny morgan's. I can see him kind of laughing behind the lens, but you know what all right: okay go with it. Your signature comes down to how you personalize the haircuts. Now everybody is like fingerprints, we're not alike, we can be similar, but everybody's hair texture as well, is kind of like a fingerprint and then the way that we doctor up. That fingerprint is the way that we personalize their hair shape for their face shape their texture. All that good stuff we're gon na stick with a blunt scissor. Okay. Now, when it comes down to cutting this texture through here, one of the things is that a lot of this top portion right through here and you can see that bottom portion kind of fell out right through there. What we want to do is we want to. We don't really want to disturb the actual perimeter line anymore, because what we've created on the perimeter line is perfect, but what we need to do is we need to doctor up some of the stuff that hangs right above it, so how i'm going to do this Is i'm going to take a part just like so i'm going to take this section, so you can see. I took a little triangle right through here. Now it's a little bit thinner right through here. It'S wider at the bottom. I'M gon na hold this up like through here and i'm going to work on this top portion. Now, how i do this is i'm going to have you come all the way over here, so we can kind of use myself as the background now we're going to come in here and we're going to cut open some of this point right through the top area. Now this is going to lighten up, as it starts to collapse underneath and if we can kind of lighten up that top hair right through here, it'll make it as this model per se or your client when she goes to push her hair back, it's going to Stay back because what we're doing is we're actually cutting the direction we want the hair to move, and so now we're actually cutting and we're wanting the hair to move back like this. So i'm going to be cutting in that direction. So keep that in mind as well guys these are some really cool tips and tricks. So after you're done personalizing your haircut, it really comes down to what are you gon na finish, the hair off with now when it comes down to finishing off the hair? I didn't put anything in this hair before i started, so the hair is still a little bit soft. Now i want to create more grip in the hair, and one of my all-time favorite products is like the the powder volumizers, those things work, amazing. You can apply them directly to your hands. You can actually shake it right into their hair. Now it immediately gives texture to the hair, but i want this hair to hold okay. Now this, as is, is really amazing, because we've opened up the face. You can see how this has got like this kind of side swept kind of curtain, longer curtain kind of ish fringe. Now, when i put that product in there i'm going to enhance that even more, but keep in mind guys if you can conquer this kind of shape, it is going to take your hairdressing from ordinary to extraordinary. Did my top come up? I think my belly. I might have shown in that, but you know what it's all right guys, because it's all about the hair today, so let's go ahead and put some product in here. Okay, i'm a fan of like the big sexy hair. This powder play is awesome. I actually use this in my hair. I'Ve used all of them actually so now i'm going to put a little bit of this product in my hand, so it looks like a powder now first off. I want to put this into the fringe. Do if there's one thing you guys got out of this video is that the proper kind of shape in front, whether it's side center, whatever it is, but today we're working with side part and then the way you actually apply product. So those two things can really kind of just change. You saw how soft it looked before without any product, which is still a beautiful shape, absolutely beautiful. Now this, of course, takes it up a notch right now, you wouldn't have to use any sort of hairspray with this. You could actually just keep it as is, and the cool thing about that grip is that you guys can literally use it and then not put any sort of hairspray in it. But that's what i love about doing things like this is that you can get that kind of curtain-ish kind of look. You know by just kind of twisting your hands with the right kind of product like this guys. I hope you. I truly hope you guys enjoyed what i did today and again, i'm just here to make your hair better, whether it's the hair you're doing on yourself or the hair you're doing on a customer whatever it is. I just truly appreciate you guys tuning in coming commenting. I love the love, you know it was kind of funny. This morning i was cutting my mother-in-law's hair and my my mother-in-law had been a few months since i'd cut her hair and i was like so you know, how's your hair growing out. You want to keep like a little bit more of your length and she's like no. I want you to cut it like it is like your haircut's great. You know they last a long time. Thank you so much for that and my wife in the corner, she's like yeah. I keep feeding his ego. You know he likes. He likes his ego fed on monday, and i was just like looking at her anyways guys. I just appreciate the love. I really do. I'M here to make you better, and so, if there's something you guys want to see in my video honestly make a comment. AC Haley: Beautiful and informative. I would love to see more extremes...like a a shag from super short top to pretty long ends ...I like a radical approach...and you have given us some good cuts in this category. Thanks Jake

iciecobalt: Here’s some : thank you for showing different tips & tricks for the amateur. I’ve been cutting my own hair for 40ish years w/ so so results. I’ve always wanted a wash & go shag. This is serendipitous finding someone like you who is funny & a helpful teacher who is willing to spill the beans on your craft plus with the shag coming back in vogue. I just tried your diy shag & it improved the look. It’s not there totally yet b/c there are parts of my hair that need to grow out. Again thank you!

Tay Luangpanh: Love this cut! ❤️ Thank you for sharing!

Shelly Sanders: I love this cut. My grandma taught school & owned her salon so I grew up working in her salon. I attend Pivot Point/Masters later in life. I was preparing for finals when I had to separate for medical reasons and when I returned the school wasn’t able to start a class so the board took all my hours by the end of that year which wasn’t fair. I didn’t return due to the fact I’ll have start at the beginning and I’ve already spent $80,000.00 for school and I already know the information. I cut, color & perm hair for family members & friends. I truly love your technique, it reminds me of myself. Most schools are product pushers, Pivot Point teaches technique and as a artist I may so happy it’s the manner in which I learned. Bravo I’m truly a fan

Lizzie Beth: This is the haircut I've been wanting for years! I love this. Thank you.

Marina McCann: Cool personalised tips. I actually applied some of them cutting my own shaggy style and love it! Apart from the fact of still not having access to hairdressers, honestly I probably won’t find the one who will be able to do this kind of style haircuts l, knowledgeable and professional and so I better try my best to learn on my hair lol It’s pretty amazing coz it’s reminds of one of my hairdresser I had in the past that I loved the style and professionalism but unfortunately we live in different countries right now but it’s cool to get the same taste with watching your videos. Thanks for sharing So grateful

ajdene: Does this front layering technique work for longer hair? Also could you please explain how to use these front layers as a guide to cut layers in the rest of the hair (back)? Thanks for all your useful tips, from so many hairdressers on YT, you're the only one giving these original and useful tips for free... you're a life saver. And also very hot :)

sherry wells: This is exactly what hairstyle I would like to have. SO CUTE!

Melissa: I love how you didn’t cut the corners off. I want this cut!

Rachela Reno Rocks: i love the way you record and edit your videos on top of being an amazing teacher and great personality. they're are alot of videos on this cut but urs is very unique in just simply the way you record it with the moving camera so we can see all the angles, amazing. and thank you

Martin Adams: Excellent well explained tips ! Your Haircutting videos are always inspiring. Thanks a million from Australia .

Rhina Alvarado: OMG! I just discovered your channel probably three days ago and I love it, I'm not a hairdresser I'm just having an urgen necessity to Learn about my own hair and how to treat it, but not from any one else but from a real professional like you, and I enjoy so much your tutorials and learning and laughing. A little bit of me is I grow up in my home country the Dominican Republic watching my aunt at her salón doing haircuts beautifully with the same passion as you, that's why since I watched the first video from your channel I subscribed when I usually don't do that. You are doing a awesome job and bringing all those things here makes me appreciate you. God bless you and your family.

zulema valencia: Can’t wait to try finally an easy shaggy tutorial so glad i found you!!❤️

Sandra Lopez: I wish I could fine a stylist that knew how to cut hair following right natural hair part on wavy texture. Great video!

Lenea Smith: Hi Jake! Ive been watching you awhile becoz Ive been wanting a shag cut. I had one when I was 14..i did myself..it was really shaggy but I loved it shoulder length. But now Im a silver haired 70 y/owith long hair..waist length. I cannot wear short hair. I have..in a pixie when i was about 20 and it looked cute then. I just watched this shag cut with a side part..but Im wondering..I wear bangs..I dont like my forehead to show..and dont like having o constantly move hair out of my eyes..if cut to the side. My natural part is on my right side. Im wanting the bangs shagged as well..i did it b4. But I need to find a stylist that can cut a REAL shag.. w my hair being long, parted..w bangs? How would you do that? I picture it in my mind..but explaining is well different! Please help??

Amelia Bacani: Thank you for making this video! I appreciate it!!

#8472 CubeBuster: Thank you! great video help!

Aribella: I m planning on doing this cut this week...to myself!

Serene Nongbri: Hello, its beautiful..can i do this hair cut on my thin fine hair.. ?

Donna: I’ve watched several videos of this cut with only one question which I haven’t seen addressed. What kind of hair can that work with? Thin? Fine? WHAT? One size does not fit all, as the saying goes. Yes, the style is beautiful, now who can wear it??? What about older folk? What about fat necks? What is this style doing for folks with “flaws”? Models and mannequins are the beautiful people, lol, and they always rock the cut. I’ve just subscribed cuz I think you’ll get my drift.

Kelsey Thompson: So pretty!

jo hanna: I haven't cut my hair in a reeeally long time...and it's down to my butt and it's all preeettymuch one length and I am so dissatisfied and bored with it. I used to cut my own hair in high school. I would ALWAYS get compliments on my hair...my lions mane is important to me and it's a big part of my own self confidence and how I feel about myself physically. I need a hair cut...and I'm wanting to try to do it myself again. I can go get it fixed if I screw up but I'm hoping this video will help a bit. Just a suggestion...maybe slow down on the parts of the video where ur actually cutting the hair. Ps. Thank you SO MUCH for showing how to do it with a side part it seems like everyone does middle parts these days and I CANT part my hair in the middle. I have a very big forehead that goes far back on my head so when its parted in the middle it makes my face shape look HORRID!! Lol

Maria Louise: Hi me again lol If I'm someone who parts my hair differently everyday, what part is the best then??

Linda James: Love it ,so pretty Texas Lady

jo hanna: I ruined my hair lol..... idk wtf I'm doing...god... Ok not really...but Its like half finished. And I'm a little terrified to try conquering the area of my head that's not near my face lol....the dredded back!!! Haha. Might try finishing it off tonight. Keep in mind I can go somewhere this weekend to fix it if need be. I appreciate the video. And appreciate the side parting show again...thank you! Much love!

Terry Yorton: I want you to cut my hair, love it !

Natajca Kamchatny: ❤️❤️❤️

Sow a Seed: I like this haircut so much better with a side part.

Gurbinder Kaur: Wow sir
