I feel like it's better than putting chemicals on your hair, so don't let anyone make you feel bad about becoming a straight natural, no one's going to be at your house every morning doing your hair for you. So if you feel like it's easier for you to manage, then do it for you, I'm shell for anybody, that's new here! So I'm a licensed cosmetologist and I specialize in teaching women how to grow and maintain their natural hair. In today's video I'm going to be talking about how to become a straight natural, a lot of people have been asking me this question and, as you guys know, I promote healthy hair on my channel. So I'm going to be giving you tips and tricks on becoming a straight natural and doing it the healthier way. Now, if you are the type of person that likes to wear your curls and doesn't want any loose curls or any straight pieces throughout your hair, this may not be the best routine for you. Most people are not able to maintain the curl pattern with this technique. Keyword most people are not able to maintain a curl pattern, but if you are thinking about becoming a straight natural more than likely, you don't wear your curls anyway. So we're going to jump right into the video. So I'm going to be giving you a couple of tips and the first one I want to start off with is set yourself up on a schedule for how many suppresses you're going to do so. Typically, with straight Naturals, I see maybe about three different routines and that is they'll suppress their hair either once every two weeks, once every three weeks or they'll, do it monthly. I don't recommend doing monthly because you need to cleanse your hair often if you don't want to start to develop scalp issues. If you are someone who suffers from seborrheic dermatitis, scalp, psoriasis, dandruff or anything like that, I highly suggest the every two weeks routine. That way, you can properly cleanse your scalp. So this brings me into my second tip. So the second thing you want to make sure that you're not always using a detox shampoo on your hair, a lot of times we'll use a stripping detox shampoo because we're trying to remove those oils and that buildup from our hair, so that we can have a Nice flowy suppress the problem with that is that you can dry out your scalp and you'll start to dry out your hair. So sometimes you can use a moisturizing shampoo instead of a detox shampoo. A really good moisturizing shampoo that I suggest that you use is the olaplex number four. This is how it looks, so this shampoo works really good as a moisturizing shampoo. If you are not doing the detox, then I would suggest you wash your hair and your scalp with this two times instead of just once, and if you are a person that is suffering from dry scalp, when you are doing your suppresses, make sure you check out My course, because I do go over that inside of my silk press course, my third tip is for you to get in Salon Standalone treatments to help rebuild the structure of your hair. So these are the olaplex one and two treatments so you'll get that done. Every couple of months it is an expensive treatment, so you can do it every two months and then in between Salon business. I highly just suggest doing these zero and three another thing you'll want to do is protein treatment. So once you start straightening your hair, your hair is losing that protein. So you have to rebuild the proteins in your hair by getting protein treatments if you have medium to high porosity hair, if you have low porosity hair, a lot of the products that you use for suppressed already already have like proteins and silk amino acids in them. So if you feel like you, don't need a protein with your low you. If you don't need a protein treatment with your low porosity hair, then I suggest just using the products with proteins in them, because a lot of times it can make your hair feel super stiff super brittle. If you have low porosity, hair and you're doing protein treatments yeah these protein and olaplex treatments are a necessity if you want to become a straight natural and keep your hair healthy. Another thing is that if you have low porosity hair, you want to make sure that you are getting steam treatment. Steam treatments are going to bring that moisture back into your hair, especially if you are using a lot of soap press products which can have a lot of silicones in them and eventually, once you stop using products with silicones in them, your hair can feel drier, because It'S not coated with that silicone one of the products that I like to use in a salon is the olaplex foreign one. I like to use this to deep condition with under a steamer, because I have low porosity hair, I'm not a straight natural, but if you are becoming a straight natural, this four in one moisture mask is really good. If you can only get that treatment done in a salon, but if you want to do it at home, I believe it's, the olaplex number eight, that that is their deep conditioner and then you can use that that and then sit under a steamer for about 10 To 15 minutes, okay, so my next tip is to do a soft, slash, textured press on your hair and don't do like a bone straight press every time. So what that is, is just you lowering the temperature on your flat irons when you do some of your suppresses throughout the year. So you want to lower the temperature and just leave a little bit of texture left in the hair, so that you are not always getting your hair bone straight and the reason why I suggest this is because, after you've been suppressing your hair for an entire year. Your hair can start to look dull and damaged after a while, so you want to maintain the Integrity of your hair for as long as you possibly can. So my next tip is to do you part and be part wig. So since you're straight natural anyway, your leave out will be pretty much trained. So you can do U parts and be part wig just to keep your hair just a little bit of a break. Every so often - and I'm sure, if you are straight natural at some point, you will get bored with just your regular hair being out and just straight all the time so to spice it up a little bit. You can definitely do a u-par or b part wig. What I have on now is a V part wig and I have very little leave out and the V part is really like super thin, so they really Advanced need to be part now with taste, but it's really thin. It doesn't take a lot to cover up the tracks or anything up here and then my leave out is just pressed out. So it's a nice style to get yourself away from just having all your hair out, and this is a tip that I'm sure many of you are familiar with and that is to use a ceramic iron. So a ceramic flat iron and making sure that you do 450 or below so depending on your hair texture and your density, you want to make sure that you're using anywhere between well whatever it says on the flat iron box. It gives you suggestions based off of your texture and then so you want to go based off of that and then you can gradually increase if you want to, but you want to just make sure you stand under 450 degrees. Okay, so for my last tip, your hair structure has everything to do with what is going on inside your body internally. So if you don't want hair to grow out of your scalp frail brittle and weak, then I highly suggest you eat a healthy diet. Drink a lot of water and take vitamins, since you are using all that heat on your hair throughout the year, your hair will eventually become the structure of your hair. Where you mentioned the weekend, it'll start to be a little bit more fragile, frail and break easily. So once you are flat ironing your hair, you don't want it to break right away. You want the hair growing out of your scalp out of your follicles, to be as strong and as healthy as possible, and you want to make sure that your body is not dehydrated. It'S one of the worst things you can do if you are on like a healthy hair journey and you're trying to grow out your hair or maintain healthy hair, you need to drink a lot of water so that everything internally is functioning properly. So another tip is to make sure that you get your trims often so when you are straightening your hair throughout the year, you will notice that you'll start to have thinner finer frail ends, and that is because the ends are the weakest part of our hair, because They'Re, the oldest, so once you start putting a lot of heat, you'll start to develop those straighter ends, and you can get trims once every two months. You can get them more often, if you do not know how to suppress your hair, be sure to check out my silk press course. That was, it has everything in there. It has how to do a silk press. It has how to wash deep condition the hair. I have a q a in there, so I can about frizz the humidity and why you're here might revert quickly, I'm talking about heat damage and all of that in this course, so it'll be linked down in the description box. So if you are thinking about becoming straight natural, make sure you check that course out I'll leave it linked Down Below in the description box and as always, if you have any questions, leave them down in the comment section and I'll see you guys in my next Video
