After six years of growth, it is time to BANISHHHHH my hair. I've been feelin' pretty overwhelmed and stressed lately so what do we do? Chop off all our hair, that's right.
This has been my dream hair for YEARS and I finally decided: It's time to frickin' do it XD
SO ANYWHO here is a little hair journey for ya before we get back to festive AUTUMN-Y activities!

(Also I realize that I am so unbelievably lucky to live in a place in the world where I have the freedom to do what I wish with my hair, and that's not lost on me! Just wanted to quickly mention that because it seems so frivolous sometimes to make hair videos, but I hope it's not taken the wrong way and I am extremely aware and grateful.)

Whenever I get to dress up as a character that has that hair, I'm always like `` Ooh, (, chuckles )? Who IS she !''? It is happening. ( hands, clapping ), (, yells of uncertainty, ) ( sighing ), All right. ( whimsical, trumpet music ). So today's the day and I kind of wan na frow up., I have an appointment with my mom to chop all of this off. Oh boy.. Let me get my Lactaid milk. And I know this is like two hair videos within the course of a month, So for that I apologize. Sometimes you just got ta allow yourself to be a little self-indungeon-t, In-dugeon-t (, Rachel stuttering, ) Self-indulgent., Of which this feels extremely ... that.. But I don't know.. I figured it's a big change and I would have felt guilty not bringing you along and documenting the emotions that I no doubt will be feeling.. I am so bored with my hair, I think maybe the longest. It'S ever been It's long. The longer it gets. The thinner it gets Limp and flaccid, And it snarls super easily, Even when I curl it the curls last maybe an hour, and then they just kind of also fall. What I've been doing with it lately is just throwing it in a braid for days on end and not doing a single thing with it, And I'm done with it. I really really don't like this color on me. We'Re just gon na. Do the full gambit here Chop it off dye it new me., I'm so scared. I feel like it's either gon na look really good or I'm going to look like Will Byers or the `` Berries and Cream'' lad, ( Rachel, giggling ). I mean there's no in between It's either of those.. I don't know I've held onto it. This long'cause, I was sort of attached to it. You grew it for a long time. It'S been with you for a long time And it's kind of sad. You have served your purpose and now I am sick of you. I was kind of equating feeling feminine with longer hair, but you know what I say to that: Phooey. We're just gon na go for it.. If I don't do it now, I'm never gon na. Do it That was aggressive, *pleasantly* So, logically, before I head to chop it all off, I'm going to take some breakup photos with my hair, because I'm pretty sure this is the longest it's ever been, and you know I just wan na document it have a proper Goodbye., Let's do it ( bell ringing ) (, upbeat disco, music, ), ♪, Breakup, ♪, ♪ Photos, ♪, ♪ Time to chop it ♪ ♪, Goodbye, ♪, ♪, Bye, girl, ♪, ♪, Mentally I'm overwhelmed & making impulsive decisions. ♪ ♪ Ha-ha, ..., Okay, ♪, Hey puppies., Say goodbye. Oh my God., ( mom, laughing ) Painless. For me, Wow. Wow. Wow. In 30 seconds six years of growth. All right. Okay, That's part, one Part: one done. Whoa Freedom, Relief. (, Rachel, humming, ), [, Rachel, ] Ooh.. It'S a good table centerpiece.. I think you should leave it. [ Mom ] No. [, Rachel ]. It'S a conversation, starter. ( whimsical, trumpet music, ) (, Rachel, humming ), (, mom, laughing ), You're being very brave about this. For a girl that used to freak when I would cut a 1/2 inch off ( Rachel, giggling ), Oh man, I was cooking the other day and my hair was just all in front of me and I was ready to chop it off with a kitchen knife Right there., I was like *muppet noise*, Step away from the sharp objects. Okay look down at your pigs. ( mom humming ) Ew (, Rachel laughing ) ( ringtone playing ) Just got ta scooch over a little bit. Get my bucket in there. (, Rachel, giggling, ), Perfect rise every time., It's falling lovely. I think I got it. By George Yes. Much better.. Do I get a hot towel and a scalp massage You did it Yay? I did it.. You did it. Let'S give it a go. You know. I am aware that this video isn't very autumnal Autumn. Just struck me. I just had to do it now Autumn: equinox, The trees are changing and so am I. ( Rachel sighing ). Okay, I'm not gon na lie. I panicked a little when it was straight because I had blow dried it. You know - and I just ... This straight texture - that blow dry gives me well, as the kids put it was not it. I am not saying that I looked like Lord Farquaad, but that is 1000 %. Exactly what I'm saying I did end up putting my mostly dry hair into Cozy Curlers, which are a little bit more relaxed of a curl than these. I liked how it came out. It was a a bit triangle shaped, So I'm gon na see what this looks. Like It's looking pretty short., Oh, this is looking short ( Rachel panting ). As I was saying, I know this video is not very autumnal, so we are going to do some fall festivities today and I figured maybe you could come with. You know. Just have a little whisper of autumnal, goodness [ whispering ] Autumnal goodness. Okay.. I look like George Washington., I'm gon na brush this out ( bright, jazz, music ), That's cute! Oh sssssshit! I see you. (, bright, jazz, music, ). Okay, I feel better. Okay, okay, Okay, OKAY And kind of the nice thing is that you can just ... Wow, Oh man.. I have so much more control over it. Now that it's short Ooh, it's so nice. I am going to put my outfit on for the day I'll, be right back ( bell ringing, ) Yay! This is the hair that I wanted for a really long time, but I was too scared. One thing I'm gon na have to learn. Is this stuff underneath to curl this with a tighter roller This size for the rest of the hair, these tiny ones for like the underneath I am so excited, though This is so different, and it's weird.. It still feels like it's, not my hair. It feels like I'm wearing a wig, but I'm not And everything is so easy. I used like this much conditioner when I was taking a shower. Oh man, I'm telling you one bottle of conditioner is gon na last me seven months and I'm so excited. Wear cute hats again. Come on. (, Rachel, yelling ). I was a little scared there, but I think it worked out. Let'S go. Do some fall festivity? I really hope this video was in any way interesting and fun to watch. I don't know It was a big change, so I felt like I needed to document it. I was expecting to have a lot more regrets than I did. I was expecting to have at least three regrets. I have zero so Thought that I was gon na miss the length you know miss just having a lot of it And honestly I don't miss it. ... at all, Fricking love having this length. It doesn't get in. My way Look, Look it's not getting caught in my mic. I can do stuff without feeling like I have to pull it back. I was having to do that a lot with my long hair. Almost could never have it just down when I'm working on stuff because it just got frickin' everywhere. I can craft like this, which is really nice. It is a length that I can pull it back, so that's good. If I want to, but honestly I haven't felt the need to, I can just kind of have it chilling out, and it doesn't really bother me, which is nice, Keeps its curl, so long Tried having three day curls and it was still pretty dang curly without having To re-curl at night, So that's something that I truly truly missed about, having short hair With my long hair, especially at the length that it was at, I would take it out of the rollers brush it out and it would be flat within a couple hours.. So this is such a nice change. I will say: I'm not crazy about how it looks with just my natural hair texture, which is just like kind of wavy and stringy. It'S good that it's super easy to curl and then it stays curled, because I kind of look like I'm about to ask you to turn to page 394 ... or about to host a wrestling competition to see who's going to rescue the princess ( hands. Clapping ) Not crazy about that, but that's okay, because I am probably just gon na curl it all the time. I wasn't super crazy about my normal texture anyways, regardless of the length It's just. It'S not-, it's fine.! I can wear hats and berets and I'm so excited ( Rachel sighing ), You get it.. I like my hair., That's about it. I know that so close to October, having just like a hair video, it's a little lackluster, but things are in the works Not gon na take a week off in October, so you're gon na get lots of festive Halloween-y content, So I'm very very excited for the Stuff that I'm gon na be making, Can I get a HELL YEAH Thanks for coming on this hair journey. Wallace and Vomit: I had really long hair for years(ginger, curly) and everyone, family, strangers, always said; "NEVER cut your hair it's so beautiful." but when I did cut it all off I felt more like myself than I ever had. For women and people percieved to be women, other people seem to feel a sense of ownership over Your Hair, especially if you've kept it long for a while. I found that cutting my hair short was so freeing and made me so happy & I'm glad you get to experience the same thing! It really suits you!

I work groundskeeping and I’d get sticks and grass and dirt stuck in my hair and it would get tangles and snags and matted at the nape of my neck. Megalodonias: Ah man, this video resonated with me so much. I spent over 20 years with the same long hair style, and people always complimented it and told me to never cut it and all that. Eventually I got the courage to cut it short (similarly overcoming the Lord Farquaad/Berries and Cream Lad fear), and it was indeed life-changing! it fits me so much better and now I'm actually getting comments on how the hair compliments me rather than just the hair being pretty on itself. I also dyed it black despite resistance from my family... it looks great and I love it so much it's such A Look :'D

"Born To Dance" (1936) with Eleanor Powell and Una Merkel, all the women in that film had great hairstyles for that length. As it grows longer you could do peak 1940s styles w shoulder length curls. It's gonna be cute, Rachel! So excited for you!

I’ll tell you what, being bald makes you realize that hair is just hair, it grows, it doesn’t who cares! Now whenever I go to get my hair done I tell them “do whatever you think would look good on me” they are always like “are you sure??” Hell yeah! I’ve been bald, I can try anything now! It’s a very freeing feeling. BTW you look adorbs!
