Wigs 101: Wig Construction Explained | The Basics | #Winterwigcoaching

If you have thank you so much you're, one of my little dog babies, hot dog, baby, so happy to have you here. So today, i'm doing another one of the wigs 101 video. I have a whole series of this. I do make sure that i try to do a lot of wig coaching on this channel, not just reviews. It'S one thing to review wig and say my thoughts about it, which is great, but i also would love to teach you the things that i have learned along the way. So this is sort of a quicker wigs 101 video, because i am actually gon na. Do more in-depth videos on this topic, but i wanted to do overall, like wig cap construction explained just because there's a lot of jargon. There'S a lot of you know. What'S this: what's that, so i wanted to do a video. Just on the basics, caveat there's a lot of variations and additions to this, but these are just basic wig cap construction, information. Okay, so if that's something you're looking for then stay right here, i'm gon na talk about four basic types of wig caps and i'm really just talking about synthetic wigs. Okay, that is what my specialty is. I have done human hair, but that is not my specialty. So we're speaking primarily about synthetic wigs, so you have number one, which is a lace front where you have lace, and this was a lace front, but i cut the lace back. So there was lace all the way along the front area that helps you to like customize and cut it to your hairline and look a little bit more natural. There can be hardly lace or soft lace, this one's actually a harder lace which sometimes will be called french lace. There'S pros and cons to that um again i'll go more into that in other videos. Then you have a lace, parting wig, which is just where the part is laced. Let me see hold on okay, so this is janet collections nelly. So you can see. This is just the lace is only in the parting area um, so you can still sort of customize the part, but there's not going to be lace in the front. I actually really love lace, parting, wigs. I feel like for easy peasy like every day that they work really really well. I actually have a lace parting playlist that you can check out. Then you have sort of full or whole lace. Um you're going to see those more really in human hair waves, full lace, wig you're, going to probably have to glue it down. You can also have wigs that have a lace front and then they have what's called a free parting. Sometimes it'll be called four by four 13 by 16.. It just means that the lace isn't just in the front if four by four means it would be in the front and then also go four inches this way and four inches that way, so you can customize the parting area. Thirteen by six is going to be 13 by six, so you just have more area to be able to customize. I don't know why i'm so itchy i have a whole video. I think it might be a quick coaching, video on customizing a free parting wig, because there is tips and tricks to that and the last thing is going to be sort of either it's going to be called a full cap, wig or a machine made wig. So this is an amazon wig that i'm getting ready to review. This is a full cap wig. So, as you can see, it's just a full cap, there's no lace anywhere and this one has what's called a skin top parting, which is a fake scalp at the top these wigs. I actually really love these wigs in general, but a lot of times if you are needing any wigs for any medical reason, any alopecia cancer treatments any sensitivity full cap. Wigs, are often more what you're going to go with and i'm going to have a whole video. If i don't already up on full cap wigs, so you can have a skin top parting, like i just showed you, you can have like a u-shaped parting, and that means that, like the the top part here is gone like there's. No, that's not part of the wigs. The wig just goes like from here to here, and this is where you could pull out your natural hair and sort of blend it in, and it helps if you can do that. It really helps to blend and look a little bit more natural. And then you have various shaped parts, so this is a lace part, but this is like a diagonal part. You can call it sometimes they call it a c shape, part eye, shape, part j part. I think it's just meant to like mimic different parts that you would have in your normal hair and your in your regular hair. Other types of wigs that you're going to see is you're going to have a half wig. Now a half wig is just going to be. I don't use half wigs because it's meant to put on your head and then use all of your hair in the front to blend in which is awesome, but i have very very short hair and my hair is shaved on the side. So i really can't do that they have a drawstring wig, which can often be a half wig and a drawstring at the same time. So it's like a half wig. Then it has a drawstring so that you can go ahead and put like it in ponytail. If you wanted to and then you have a wig topper, so that's if you have hair, i actually have a video where i put a topper on my mom um. It'S a good, a gabor topper. So you can check that video out. But it's like if you have hair but like maybe it's thinning on the top. The topper would just clip in here and then just give you a little bit more fullness. There'S various types of hair lines you can have sort of what's called a natural hairline. This is supposed to be like a natural hair line, but i mean it's not bad, but it's not like supernatural. You can have ones that have like baby hairs or pre pluck, and it's a pre plucked where you can see it's thinner on the hairline already, because, like normally our this is also free parting. So you can see you can part it this way. You can part it this way. Um, it doesn't really matter. You can have wigs that come with baby hair, so this is a braided wig, but you can see it has sort of this baby. Hair-Esque hairs coming down some people really love baby hair. Some people, don't i can take them or leave them. Sometimes, if they don't come with baby hairs, you can make them, and i have a video on that. They do have hand-tied hair lines which are going to look more natural, so those are several different types of hairlines you're going to see, and then last but not least, is the accessories or the security features. Often you'll see wigs that have these combs. Okay, those go up under your wig cap into your hair uh full cap. Wigs often do not have combs, because they're meant for people who either don't have hair or have sensitive scalp um. If you need extra security, you can always use like a wig grip. I have several videos on using a wig grip. Most will have adjustable straps. These ones have adjustable straps that are like bra straps. I do have wigs here. I have one from the wig club. This is from the wig company um. It'S going to be this full cap wig, it's got this like comfort part here. It does not have cones, but it does have adjustable straps, but there's our velcro so they're just you know they just velcro up so they're going to be a little bit more comfortable than the uh straps that are sort of like bra straps. You can have ones that have elastic bands. I actually personally do not like elastic bands, but it's a band. That'S gon na go, let's use this wig here, so the band would be attached from here to here it just. It'S just helps security, especially when you have a lot of lace in the front. It'Ll pull that a little bit tighter um. For me, i'm a migraine sufferer, so i don't. I don't even usually use the combs like these. Aren'T the combs aren't in on this because that tends to just give me a migraine, but that is a feature of security and you can add, an elastic band. I was going to do a video on adding elastic band to a wig that you have, especially if it's too big an elastic band can really really help.
