Hi everyone it's kc welcome back today. I want to talk about wigs um so with blythe dolls, if you're new to blythe the um hair on on a black doll, the original blyth hair is referred to as a scalp, not a wig, and that's because the hair on the bite doll is attached to Her and you have to remove it with a screwdriver um, so oftentimes new people in blyth new collectors will refer to the blight hair as a wig, but that's confusing because you can actually use wigs on life dolls. But that's not what we call the original hair. We call that a scalp, so i've been wanting to carry wigs in my shop for quite some time because they do offer the ability to change the hair on blyth. It'S a little less expensive. It'S a little less intensive. You don't have to take the doll apart. So i wanted to show you some of the wigs i have started carrying and i'm actually this week working on getting them all listed in my shop, i'm doing photos of them on a blythe doll, so oftentimes, if you're looking for wigs in other shops other than Mine, you want to look for the size that is 10 11., but i've. I'Ve found that other wig shops rarely have good photos and they're never on blythe dolls. So it's really hard to um sort of see how they're going to look on a blythe doll. So i'm working on photos, i'm getting through the inventory and getting them listed. So i thought i'd show you some and then basically show you how to use them. So it might seem self-explanatory. Just put the wig on the doll um, but that's not quite the case with fly so to use wigs um on a blythe doll. So again, they're not permanent. I don't recommend gluing them on um. You could glue them on, but i wouldn't um. There'S lots of styles of wigs, so we'll look at that, but basically your first thing is: you want a bald light, so this doll is an authentic life doll um. That is an older one that that her scalp her original life scalp was glued on well, i was able to just take it off, and so it makes it easy to put wigs on her because she's basically bald. If you have a newer, blythe doll or a fake flight doll that has a scalp on that's, not this style, and you want to use wigs on her. You have a couple of options. You either can cut all this hair off and make her bald, which could be the easiest if you don't want to take her apart, but it's quite a waste of nice hair. So if you don't want to waste the hair or ruin it or you want to save or sell the scalp, i would recommend removing it and putting on a blank bald scalp. So i sell these in my shop and i wanted to just do the whole process in case you decide. You want to do this, so if you want to make your blythe bold you'll buy a dome and a scalp a blank scalp um. It could be one with holes or one without holes. I think in a previous video we went through putting these together. It can be a little uh, it can take a couple tries, but basically the um. These little flaps go in and you have to kind of work around to get the scalp to go completely on like so you can glue it down, but there's really no reason to do that. You don't need to and, as you know, i do not like glue if at all possible um. So once you have your bald head, we're going to open up the doll to get this scalp off um if this part makes you nervous. This is a great introduction to uh customizing and starting the process of opening a doll. So let's get her open first now before you let her fall all to pieces. You really just need to move that back plate a little tiny bit. You want to be careful not to stretch the back plate a whole bunch, because you want to keep that spring um intact if your doll has a spring. If your doll has sleep eyes, this isn't going to matter as much, but if you're trying to just get this scalp change, um, just don't yank on that back plate, especially with the spring and so you'll just get your screwdriver down in there and loosen this screw. That is holding the scalp on and it should come off pretty easily. So this is the blythe scalp it's basically, this just has hair attached to it and it's glued, so you can set that aside. So, as i said, you can hang on to this. If you decide to use it again or sell it, it's a beautiful scalp and then we're gon na actually loosen this screw a little bit more. So we can get this bald one on and then same thing um you're actually going to want to trim these. So um i'm going to not do that, though, because this is one that's for sale in my shop. So hopefully it won't cause us any problems, but you want to get that around the screw in there. Hopefully, these flaps aren't gon na, make it impossible and then again keep that back plate out of the way but don't stretch it and you get your screwdriver back down in there and tighten it back up and then you'll put your back plate on very carefully and Your body and then put her back together and put her screws in and then you have a beautiful, bald doll that is ready for wigs. So there are different types of wigs and obviously lots of different styles. But the first type of wig is a cap style. Wig, it has it's more of a dome and it fits better and stays better on the doll without much securing that's the majority of the ones i'm offering um, but i also like the this type of scalp or see now i already mixed it up. I also like this type of wig. It doesn't stay on as well and you will need something to secure it. So all the scalps i'm going to be selling are mo hair. It'S it's the most um natural, looking hair, you can wet it, you can style it. You can cut it so, as i'm preparing these wigs for my shop, i would love to be able to cut them and trim them and show you different ways. You can um style them, but because they're for sale, i don't want to damage them. So just know that you can cut the bangs shorter. You can curl it um. You can do all kinds of cute styles with with wigs um, and so some of them are going to come already styled like i have a bunch of this braid style, um and also some curly ones. So the easiest way to put one of these cap style ones onto the doll is to turn it inside out. The center is going to be here between these two lines and if you put it on top of her head and then sort of fold it around just like that, and so these cap style ones stay on very nicely um i mean, if you pull too much On them or shake the doll, i mean they stay on pretty good, but they can fall off. So the easiest thing to do is buy these velcro, sticky, dots, um and you can put one or two on the bald head um and then one or two on the wig. I like these because they're non-permanent you can remove them. You could, of course, glue it on if you want to keep it there forever, so that is an option um and you also could use like sew on velcro, at least onto the wig. If you find that these are coming off or slipping on the fabric, you can get sew on velcro that you could sew to the wig. So whatever whatever works for you as far as making it functional. But i just love the look and it's so much fun to be able to change the hair on your doll. So let's try this doll. So again, i'm gon na turn it inside out line it up and fold it down very cute. So, as i said, you could thin this out or change the bangs. If you wanted to um you can wet it, you can style it very easily. So then, as i said, these ones are a little bit different they're, not a cap style, so they are not going to stay on the doll whatsoever, so you will definitely have to secure um these on. You also could probably use some double-sided tape. If you don't have velcro dots um, it just depends again on how much you're styling and how much the doll is moving around. But part of the reason why i like this style is because it's a little bit longer and you could do really cool things with this wig if you wanted to trim it and style it. So if i were able to style this, i would cut the bangs. Probably really short and put some of these longer pieces into pigtails, i think, would be really really cute on this style so but this style is a little bit harder to work with, because it's not that cap style, as i said so um. That'S about all! I want to share, as i said, i'm slowly, adding them to my shop um just keep in mind. Also, if you go to look at wigs, the prices vary a lot just depending on the manufacturer, so there's really no rhyme or reason on the pricing. The same style can be more or less expensive for some reason, but again i am a distributor now for these, so i'm working with the manufacturer on that and i don't set the pricing they do so what else? I think that's about it. I just wanted to share this with you as a way to play with your doll and easily change her up. If you want i've been having a lot of fun playing with wigs the past couple days, i've been dressing the doll in different outfits and getting to play with my doll, clothes and and really sort of style them differently. Um, and it's been a lot of fun. So i imagine you know if you had several wigs, it could be a lot of fun to change her out and change her style without having to open her um or use screws to hold it on every time and also the blythe scalps. Don'T come in this beautiful mohair at this point they don't really come in a lot of styles, it's really just hair and it's up to you to style and it's so thick. So i love the look of wigs as well. It'S a different look than than the scalp, so just another option, another thing to have fun with with your blythe doll, if you're ever curious about using wigs. I know back a long time ago, when i first got into blyth there was a company making wigs. That would go over the scalp, but they were so large um in order to hide all this hair that to me, they just didn't look right. So this idea of having a bald doll that you can change out wigs to me is really cool, so i hope you enjoyed this. I hope it gave you some ideas, don't forget to subscribe. If you haven't and we'll see you all again real soon bye, everyone, you

BCinCT: I think this is a great way to give a doll a fresh new look. Curious on your thoughts about the pull strings… I have a wig but don’t know the size. I’m just careful when I change the eyes…

Krista Lynn: Great video, what is the best brush to use for mohair wigs? I have an American girl wire brush, but I wouldn’t want to damage the mohair. Also, do your use hot or cold water to wash mohair?

Juta Stokes: Are these actually mohair or synthetic mohair?
