Tsa Forces Woman To Remove Hat -- But They Didn'T Expect Her Wig To Be Attached

TSA’s relationship with Black women’s hair is oftentimes a little difficult. After being forced to remove her hat, a woman was left exposed in only her wig cap because her wig was sewn into her hat. Plus, in honor of Loni being named the commencement speaker at her alma mater, Prairie View A&M University, we share advice for 2021 graduates!

#TSA #ForcedToRemoveHat #PrairieViewA&M

Y'All got ta, see this hair raising video the neighborhood talk posted it's of a woman being asked to take off her hat by tsa in the airport, but she clearly doesn't want to because guys her wig is sewn into her hat, which guys we've seen this. So many times we've seen them sold onto headbands and so many other things while to some people. This was hysterical. I'M loki traumatized for her tsa, obviously is insist, insisting in the video and when she finally removed it. She was left exposed with nothing but her wig cap on and while some people thought obviously the video was funny others said tsa was dead wrong for this. I am one of the people saying they were wrong. Ladies, what do you think about this security situation? I am devastated for her, that's so embarrassing, but we all know you have to take off your hat going through security, though do you know what i mean? Everybody knows that you know your socks. I just feel like it was a woman. Do you think that maybe she could have been like sis and my wig stuck to the hat like? Could you just rub your hand under there? Could you feel cause they can do other things. You know what i mean to make sure it's safe yeah. I think obviously one like garcelle said we really do have to recognize that. Yes, they do make. You take your hat off, but i have actually seen videos where they make the women take their wig off, and i think that that is absolutely not okay. Oh, i don't even i don't play them games. No, i i think they just want to embarrass you. They know who's a terrorist and who's, not a terrorist. I was at the vancouver airport and i had pins in my hair and they were like. Can you take the pins out and i was like no use your wand like send me back into that machine that spins around like no figure it out, and then they were like hi fancy and i'm like so you know who i am and you putting me Through this, and they usually just feel on the top anyway, they could just feel - and i, like you genie, it's like just feel on the top. It'S like you know, i mean don't embarrass her, no, no taking her to the side and been like. Let me just put: she could have requested that she could have requested that that's always like, if you feel uncomfortable, you can request that i will say: don't wear sequins, don't wear anything! That'S gon na you know knock it off, because you know you yeah. I used to wear those sequins um joggers yeah, that makes it goes crazy. So don't i would just say just be careful with that, but when it comes to wigs, they always do this. They always patent, and all of that, how do you like that you've been in a situation where they try to tell you to take it off, yeah yeah they've they've had and then you know we i've been like. No, i'm not gon na. Take it off. You got ta push back, she's right, you got ta push back, and sometimes you got ta find a person who might relate with what, like it might be. A woman mama. Does the craziest thing at every tsa. She always packs food like she's staying here now, and she makes different foods from sauces to like all these frozen goods. She freezes them and then, when she goes every time they stop her, she always tries to look for an ethnic woman and every time i promise you guys i've seen it they let her go. She looks for an ethnic woman and she tells them. This is my super. This is something i'm making for my child and they always kind of scan it. They have other devices you just got ta make them go, use the time to go, get it and they'll. Let you go so try to get somebody who maybe can relate with you empathize with you and which is why we need diverse tsa agents. Don'T sow your hat on cause they technically. You are supposed to take off your hat, so they weren't wrong. But it's just you know they don't understand what we go through lonnie. I heard you got some very exciting event taking place tonight. So tell us all about it. That'S right genie! Tonight, i'm going to be the recognition ceremony orator if i can say that for the 2020 graduates at my alma mater prairie view and university is taking place tonight, 7 30 at panthers stadium - and this is to make up for the graduates that didn't get a graduation For 2020, due to um, so i'm really excited it's a it's a commencement ceremony, i'm also receiving the rare president's medal from our president of the university, ms ruth simmons. It'S a high honor and i'm just excited. But, ladies, i need your help. I need your help because i have to make a speech. So what advice would you want to give to graduates this year? So oh yeah, yeah, okay, think about it. I'M gon na start with the best advice i was ever given, and that is that we each are brought into this world with our own unique talents and abilities and capabilities, and how that is our special power. I love seeing on instagram you'll, see like there is no one like you, but you, and that is your special power, so tap into your uniqueness. The thing that is truly um authentic to you and that's, what's really going to propel you in life love it. I love you that that's really great, i would say, what's really gotten me through life, is what i always say own you before they do and what i mean by that is own everything about you, especially the things that you're embarrassed about your insecurities, your setbacks, anything That you're, not that great at own it first, because the second somebody else calls that out or makes fun of you you've, given them your power, and you should never let somebody have that so on what it is about you, even if you got to laugh at It even if you got to say it's a work in progress but own it, and that's when you'll fully fully step into that progress of becoming the best side of you love it very good advice. I would say financially when you get your first job. Credit is so important in this country. Save your money, don't live for other people, you know, live in your means and save save, save guys. That'S what i would say. Oh my goodness. You, ladies you've written the speech for me. Okay, i appreciate it. I'M gon na use a little bit of everything. My whole theme is going to be about survival. I think all of the graduates have survived through a pandemic, so i want them to know that they're very, very special, so check me out tonight. Thank you, ladies for your help. It'S going to be a great evening and i can't wait to see everyone

The Real Daytime: Fair or Foul?

Violeta: They did ask her if she wanted to go in private to take it off. They weren’t being completely inconsiderate they’re just following rules and doing their job. The woman was laughing, at the end of the day it’s how she felt about the situation.

Justin R.: They didn’t air the sound but the TSA person even asked if she wanted to do it in private & she laughed & was like girl no. They dragging it

taiyona tiare: She had a good attitude about it tho she and the tsa worker were laughing the whole time. At the end of the day it’s for the safety of a country so gotta weigh the options. They also didn’t watch the full clip bc in the longer clip I saw on tiktok the tsa worker did ask if she wanted to go somewhere private to check under the wig

Adna Mohamed: “They know who’s a terrorist and who’s not”??? Fascinating comment Garcelle.

Lawrence Sterling: They’re doing their job. You gotta practically strip naked at TSA so at some point she had to have realized that they would’ve asked her to remove her hat.

Private Person: Safety first! The only thing that could have been done differently was to offer her a private search. What does Garcelle mean by they knew who she was? Anybody can pose a risk, so everyone must be searched. Celebrities can be terrorists, too. I've had a crochet wig patted, and I felt self-conscious but it was necessary!

Maddie: If you watch the video you can clearly hear the TSA agent say “we can go in private” and she says “no it’s fine”. Her and her friends were laughing the entire time, on top of that we all know you have to take off any hats or head coverings when going through TSA. Whoever pitched this segment needs to do better research and find the original video because it is everywhere.

Yasmin: How they know who’s a terrorist and who’s not a terrorist? Why they have all those additional checks if they just KNOW who the terrorist is already and instead are just trying to embarrass people with those searches? Really Garcelle?

YariTV: One time I had my hair cut so short (I didnt ask for it to be cut over my shoulders, but they did.) I went on a trip a week after, so I had clip-on extensions. I was so nervous because I didnt want anyone to know. When I passed by the metal detector thing you could see metal things all over my head lol. I was so nervous because I didnt want people to know my hair was not my hair. Thankfully, my TSA lady was African American. I looked at her with an embarrased face and she smiled and said "its ok, I know" and let me pass. If it would have been someone else they would have made me take them off, because at this time extensions where not "in style" and I was told that they would make people take off their hair pins, clips, barrettes.

Julia: i don’t think it’s that serious tho, the girl was laughing and the tsa checked it quickly

Meagan Bianca: I love Loni. After asking the girls for advice the smile she had while they answered warmed my heart.

Allie Berrie: Anything is possible from anyone, for me am feeling more comfortable when everyone is properly check before boarding.

Nyd: well if she wasnt embarrassed then, she is now that The Real exposed her even more smh

Assu Uwa: I really love the New team of the real. There is respect, fun and maturity going on. Love it!

Angel Ashcroft: Did the ladies actually watch the video?! She declined to go to the private room.

Gabrielle Williams: Yes Jeannie she did say that and they all laughed including her ... she was like "make it quick" and they did and they played it off

MsForeverFly: “they know who is a terrorist and who’s not a terrorist” no tell me garcelle how they know?

Christopher: Thank you ladies for the good advice.

Vera Darby: I lived in Waller, TX from 1991 to 2008. While there, PVAMU was a large part of our lives. As a member of the PV Athletic Club under the leadership of George E Higgs, we worked hard to provide funding for the school. I’m glad to see someone notable representing PVAMU and bring attention to the school and that area. Go Lonnie!!

SongofJoy: I'm with Jeanie.

Jenessa Hodge: They made this so much deeper than it really was just so y’all know. If you’ve seen the actual video the lady was dying laughing and so was the TSA agent. The TSA agent in the video offered to bring her off to the side and the woman denied, she said “it’s not that deep girl come on” or something along the lines of that. But bottom line i don’t think they actually watched the video before making comments on this lol.

MfonAbasi IkpeIkpe: Wow my fancy self just learnt a new thing from this - "Don't choose a sequin outfit for flying". Thank you Ladies

BlessBeloved: I have alopecia and I was wearing a scarf. I didn't know they made you remove it, but by the time sis looked back at me (after she told me to take the scarf off) I had slipped it down and tied it into a headband to cover my problem spot. I laughed too... the expression on the agents face was priceless! She said, "well that works!" LOL!

yty kire: Just because they were right doesn't mean they were actually right. Empathy is key, remember the person in front of is an actual human. They could have pulled her a side.

Steve Kima: Dont be gluing ur wig to ur hat if you're passing through the airport or somewhere where security is a concern. You should know better. Like some people would put drugs in the wig as well so you have to understand the situation from security reasons.

Myronn Coleman: Omg this story reminds me of when Mama Evelyn got arrested for having a taser in her purse and she was legal in the state of ATL , Georgia but it wasn’t in another state and the officers told her to take off her wig while in custody but it was attached so she couldn’t tug it , pull it or anything lol

Venessia Bassier: "You know who I am and you're putting me through this?" Should your celebrity status or their familiarity with you exclude you from policy?

Mgmt Girlyeah: I don't think Garcelle was talking about race when she made that comment. I think she meant by experience, TSA can put together clues to determine what's highly suspicious vs. bobby pins.

Paige Z: If they wanted to do a pat down, they can ask to go in a private room so you aren't in front of everyone. Also too people you have the right to request this!! Also, for wigs that aren't attached to a hat they have the xray machines so no need to remove

Claudia Loinaz: “They know who’s a terrorist and who isn’t a terrorist!”... what does THAT mean? ....

Carrie M: Everyone needs to be treated the same when it comes to protecting the public. Anyone can be hiding anything in a hat. She could’ve been more prepared by not wearing a “hat” wig.

jetsetter: The TSA lady clearly asked her if she wanted to go to a private room. The lady declined. If she was given the option to do this privately, what is the issue?

Amanda M: I hate when the ladies make double standards I understand it's embarrassing but ppl can smuggle drugs that don't set off a metal detector and no we don't know who is a terrorist or not, that's so judgemental! Ppl want to be treated the same until they're treated the same!

Raihan M Dise: The lady was even laughing about it, don’t think it was a huge deal to her so why make it a big deal of it. Unless she’s totally traumatised....

Kacha's Space: i don't know, low key feel like we should normalise wigs and taking them off in public if needed ‍♀️

Nicole: In the video she was laughing with the TSA agent and then the TSA agent did a really quick search and gave it back immediately. Also how can that lady say that they know who is a terrorist and who is not, if that was the case then we would have wayy less security.

Holly Shropshire: I’ve seen episodes of drug trafficking documentaries and I’ve read a lot of accounts of terrorists that look all types of ways, all ethnicities, all ages, all backgrounds. People get into desperate situations or a lot of the times they are recurred because they do not “look” like terrorists but they are. So to say “ they know who the terrorists are” .... not a smart show of words.

SimplyTina: They asked her if she wants to go somewhere and she said no

Nina: Years ago shortly after 9/11 Security had to check under my hat. I explained to them that I was going through Chemo and I was bald. It didn't matter, they used that damn wand on my head anyway. I understood, But it was still humiliating.

Zora B: I would have been completely embarrassed and laughing like the lady in the video.

Ana Marcelo: I get it for safety. But if this was a cancer patient. I was embarrassed with her., If I had a wig on I would be mortified.

Sally: I think the security did the checking very quickly but it was still embarrassing for her. Bless her.

No Reason At All: It’s fair, it’s for our safety. There are several prohibited pictures as soon as you walk into the airport and hat is one of them.

Africa Borwa: Offence is in the eye of the taker. So be offended by what she said She said what she said

Arainea CuteBrownNurse: It’s protocol to keep us all safe. It’s a dang wig.Just take it off or don’t wear it

Toni Mahogany: That's what the machine is for. TSA CAN BE A TRIP. SOME GO OVER BORD.

Look How She Ate That: They were doing their job, they offered to do it somewhere private, she said no and took it off, they laughed it off. The end.

Keshia Owens: Everyone knows that you must remove you hat....

Rose lets work in PJs: It doesn't matter what I wear at the airport they always search me, makes me dread traveling

Lashawna Williams: When I wore my hair long they would pat my hair every single time. They would pact my hair. Every single time.

Let's Talk Darling: Garcell:” They know who’s a terrorist and who’s not.” was that profiling Garcell? Are you saying we can identify that by race?

allyssa gray: Yallll the lady was laughing about it chill out they offered to take her in a private area to remove it tell the truth

It's Me, MK: I'd have asked to be taken to a separate room for a pat down. That was just embarrassing

Hello YouTube: Listen, she knew damn well she had to take that off before going to the airport. Tsa did their job.

Rob Yn: Weird comment, Garcelle... I am not going to put more emphasis on it than necessary, as we all can be misunderstood, but it definitely raised a red flag for me... Peace.

Marie Baker: I thought they made that body scanner machine to make it easier.I worked at the airport for over a decade and I don’t miss it at all.

Livia Pope: “They know who’s a terrorist and who’s not” ?????!??? Arrrrpppp let us know Garcelle.. what they look like??

Jenic Darling: Obvious they didn’t actually watch the vid & just starting drama since they did ask her if she wanted to do it in a private room but she’s refused like naw just get it done with. She & her friend (one filming) were laughing about it!

Sam: "Everyone knows who's a terrorist and who's not a terrorist"........ What?!

Lesley Aguila: Stop REACHING. She was fine with it and she didn't complain about it. I'm sure she forgot she had to go through TSA.

A.C 2349: Garcelle is right! SAVE SAVE SAVE your money!

Trevor Taylor: It’s the title for me y’all know she wasn’t forced

Lashon Hayes: I'm very confident so I would take it off I look good with my hair cap wig on or off.. But she could have asked to be done differently...

Autyana Lzai: Once again the ladies missed the concept of the video. The TSA woman asked “would you like to go to a private room” and the lady said no - she then took her hat off. She didn’t have any issue with people seeing her that way. Stop making something out of nothing. I’m convinced this is happening because Tamara is gone. The show has gone down hill since then.

Desi: Loni knows the TSA rules lol she was TSA remember

eno88: They offered her privacy, she laughed through it, here you are internet warrioring, getting outraged on her behalf. Slow news week lady?

Eunice Philippe: We are all very quick to jump to conclusions, initially I did too but please don’t forget there are agencies that have “watch lists”. People who’s every moves are tracked in order to prevent another tragedy. Not here to argue with anyone but it’s more than likely what Garcelle meant.

Let's Talk Darling: Plane blows up. Hundreds dead The public: “TSA failed and should have seen the bomb” TSA: “But I was asian and she was Asian and told me it was soup so I believed her!”

titogels: They weren’t wrong you can hide stuff like drugs and stuff in a hat I’m sorry Adrienne but safety first plus if they asked the woman to go somewhere privately nothing was done wrong.

Afroziky: So adrienne sees this is wrong but can't see that what porsha did was wrong? Seriously

Max Moore: TSA ain't wrong. Just cuz her wig was sowed to her hat doesnt mean they have to cater to her. It's her fault. It has to come off so don't wear it. They don't know who is a terrorist. The hosts sound dumb this morning

Sadaf AH: they know who's a terrorist and who's not a terrorist? really Garcelle, I'd love to hear who you think they are? ignorance.

Lalalalala!: Yeah I was wearing a braid before and it set the machine off or something and I had to get my head patted down

Disney Lady: So why did they mislead with how that video with tsa went though??? And Garcelle sounded a little dumb when she said they know who the terrorist are and aren’t uhhhhhhh no they don’t that’s why they are doing the checks to be careful and they don’t know every persons intentions. And I’m sorry I do like Garcelle but it is entitled to think that because you’re a celebrity they should treat you any differently at the airport and just assume you are all good.

HeyItsMe1224: I’m terrified of flying, so yeah I expect all the checks. You know you’re going to an airport, expect it

PlainJane 777: I wish I knew that. I had water that I needed due to my health. I would look for someone to help me out.

Jibri Jenkins: Well why would you wear that to the airport....?

HeartsBonsChannel: Embarrassing, yes, feel bad? Slightly... I’m sorry but my safety and my children safety is more important. I say they should have the option to go in a room, and do it. I’m sorry, but you can’t tell by looks who is going to hurt someone and who isn’t.

Syd: It's really not that serious

Ryan Flores: Fair, the rules about the hat are what they are. It would have been different if it was her actual wig. If the woman ain't bitching about it why are y'all

V MaMpofu: Jeannie glowing!!!

genae boozer: I had Senegalese twist that was pulled in a bun that was sewn in place and they digged in it

Kristian Ojonta: Well TSA asked her if she wanted to go through public

Crz4wizard: It’s for safety

Chicago 4 Life: Baby lord forgive me!!

Playboy Princess: *No ma'am and NO SIR!!!! THEY DEAD WRONG*

Que-Art Collection: Wow , that's crazy lol.

YasmineJasmine: There isn’t a private area to do this? I cover my full face as a Muslim woman I always ask to go somewhere private with a woman. Even if it’s to the side. It wasn’t nice for the lady it’s going too far now. Who is going to hide something in their wig like really....

RealTakerslady: They were wrong! Embarrassing that baby!

Private Person: That must be Dr. Heavenly of Married to Medicine. She mentioned it in a video.

Emi: It is not even that big a deal take off your hijab/ scarf/ turban what ever and go on about your day. There is nothing racist about it. I would rather be safe than sorry. It was totally fair. What Garcelle said was not racist.

Barbara Blackwin: did you guys wait he video she was asked if she wanted to go into a private room!! PS ! she was not embarrassed

C C: Hope you have the same energy for people who are forced to take religious headgear off eh

southern4comfort4real: Women of certain religions wear wigs ALL. THE. TIME.outside and NEVER get asked to remove. Violating Black women about hair?...It's the American way.

Playboy Princess: *‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️....But shouts out to Dr. Heavenly, I think that's one of her wig caps*

Toska Lulolli: You all sound really uneducated when it comes to talking about tsa. Rules are rules and there are absolutely no exceptions. You can request for private search and thats as far as you can take it. Don’t know why this was a topic.

Furaha Osodo: Jeannie❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Saidah Elizabeth Greene: Adrienne top is everything!!

Tykeesha McFayden: Adrienne why do you always have to be the first one to speak? I really want to hear the other ladies have to say for a change. The conversation may go a different way if your opinion isn't always first.
