H'yelllooo and happy new year! I'm back with another 'messing around with hair because it's fun and that's science' video. This time I wanted to show you how I do my Victorian & Edwardian hairstyles with short hair. I was pretty concerned when I chopped it all off if I was going to be able to keep doing them and so I wanted to share 3 different ways I've been sorta faking them!

I've gotten some tutorial requests for my recent looks so figured I'd cover them all in one video, hehehe.

ANYWHO I hope it's helpful (or just entertaining lol) and I'll see you next week!

K LOVE YOU

Dress is from Adored Vintage

Longer human hair wig is from 'BaeBeautiful' on Etsy

(Not sure where the shorter one is from sorry!)

Know what they say: the higher the hair, the closer to potential extra-terrestrial life. ( bell: dings ), (, jaunty, music, ), Hello, happy 2023.! I am starting this year off a bit predictably.. This was not originally my idea for this week., I'm working on a project that I ran out of time and material. I need to finish up next week., And so here we are. Me not properly planning for a video, ( stammers ), Who I thought that we would just do like a fun sit-down cozy video, a hair, video. Hair is just fun to futz around with and that's Science., Basically, when I cut my hair short back in October, I was a little bit afraid that I wouldn't be able to do some of the Edwardian and Victorian hairstyles that I really like to do. And so part of having this kinda short hair moment. In my life I have been sort of experimenting with how to still do those styles, but you know with 1/3 the length that I had before.. So I thought I would share three ways that I have been sort of faking. That. People of ye old times didn't get a lot right, but their hair was absolutely stinking cute.. So let's get started.. I hope this lighting is okay.. It'S been raining perpetually for a full week and I'm trying not to let it get me down.. So I put my hair in curlers last night.. I have, I hope, you're focused on me. Hello, Listen face detect. This is not a face. Quit it., So I put my hair in curlers last night and we gon na take these bad boys out.. As they say. My hair is currently under construction, so pardon my appearance., You don't wan na know how many different shades are going on right, now., It's about 50 shades of ginger, which sounds like an OnlyFans channel, but nope.. It'S wild. There's a little bit of residual black dye in there.. It'S just ... We're gon na look past it.. In fact, maybe it might help the process'cause you'll see what is my hair and what isn't my hair.? So if anything, you're welcome. ( jaunty music continues. ) Brushing this out, as I always do. Ow.. This part is not too important'cause. You'Ll see., (, Rachel, sighs ). Recently it's been doing this like weird ``, Mars, Attacks'' flippy-doo. And I would say, I'm not mad about it, but I kind of am.. I don't know why it's doing that.. What is that (, sighs, ) Whatever.? It'S not important. ( growls ) Moving on. Recently when I was making sweet sweet content, I did sort of like a photo shoot in front of this wall. Actually, I tried to do a historic, Roman sort of statuesque hair.. I got some comments asking for tutorials., So I am nothing if not obliging and you are going to be kind of mad when you realize how easy it is and how I fooled you all.. I basically catfished you.. I have my curly hair here. ( bell, dings ), ( grunts ), Brush the back of your head. Yeah. And then you're gon na kind of just pile it on top of your head and then pin. Pin, like your life depends on it. ( jaunty music continues, ) Just smooth out the back.. You might wan na pin the bottom layers a bit further back on your head. Just so, you can have sort of this little volume and poof on the back. Got some stragglers here.. So I'm gon na bring this huh.. Now you can get as smooth and as neat as you want.. I have never used those two words to describe myself in my life so. Personally. For me, I kind of just throw it up and hope for the best. Whoop., Then, if you're feeling extra musey, if I can find where I put it, which is the tagline for my entire being. Okay., I couldn't find what I originally was looking for. But that looks like a pig, a little adornment if you want. Or like a little southern belle., Or you know mornings when you just particularly feel chaotic. Well. This is one of those and I apologize. Little hat. Wham bam. Thank you, madam. See now. What did that? Take me like five minutes, Sometimes just hoisting. Your hair overboard can really give you some results. ( old-timey piano, music ). Now this is obviously just using all my own hair, but now we can start getting into hair pieces and wigs and such. So now begins. Try and find all of these bobby pins.. How are you doing? How was your holidays? I haven't seen you since last year. ( chuckles ) Mine, we're good, although on Christmas I quite literally ate so much that I threw up and that's not something I recommend. And/Or am proud about, but it's just the facts. Okay, so method number two is using some of my own hair and some of not my own hair.. Last night I went - and I curled this wig, I'm not quite sure - is going to match completely and it might not even have to match all that much.. This method was a lot easier when I just had plain black hair'cause, it's much easier to blend., But you know we do what we can.. This is a human-hair wig, although I don't think it matters. I've done this with this artificial, wigs too.. I would suggest that the wig is curly.. That'S why I curled this.. If you have a human-hair wig, you can just curl it yourself. Or if you have an artificial wig, you can steam curl it, which is what I like to do.. I got a couple videos on that, so go back into the vault. And I promise my vault is not complete and utter bull. ( beep ), like Disney's vault.'', Get your VHSs. It'S going back in the vault.'' Shut up., Taking this beautiful wig. ( chuckles, ) Nope.. This will be interesting. Bunch it up and then quite like a toupee ( duck. Quacks ) place it right on top of that noggin pin it. You could leave it like this. If you like., I'm just gon na kind of do the same thing I did, but now I have extra hair and extra padding.. It would probably be better to use wig pins for this, but I can't be bothered so.. Okay, maybe I can be bothered. I'll, be right. Back. Caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror, gave myself a little fright. Longer pins., There's a lot of density going on here.. Much like everything else. I do in my life there's not much order to this. Just kind of sticking'em in there brushing the backs so that the back is nice and smooth.. ( jaunty, music, ) Wow., Know what they say: the higher the hair, the closer to potential extra-terrestrial life. ( bell. Dings ) I'll, be honest. If anything doing these styles, while they do take a little bit more time'cause, you really have to pin it in there, especially if you're gon na go anywhere are way easier with my shorter hair than they are with my long hair, which is nutso., And I figured That wouldn't be the case, because you know the tendency was to have longer hair, so you would have more volume. I mean they did have hair pieces and such but ... In some ways it is.. I think the hairstyle that I used to do where it was just putting it in a ponytail pulling it down. That was a little easier. That took me like five minutes.. This has taken me a little bit longer than five minutes, but I do kind of like how this looks a lot better.. I really like all the curls and I think it's really giving Ms. Frizzle action and that's my long-term goal, so. A Victorian Ms. Frizzle, which I would totally watch.. This is the general idea. It'S a bit willy-wobbly.. I do suggest anchoring that hairpiece to your head. A little bit more than I did, because if I move too much ( chuckles ), it's a very kinetic hairstyle. Accessorize, a little. Huh. It'S not unlike the crazy poodle hairstyles from the'40s and'50s., But you know, I think it all depends on how you accessorize and how you dress. Does that look dumb Sorta., Just one. ( reel whirring and clicking ) ( jaunty, music ). It'S pretty similar to style number! One just more hair. Number three is sort of cheating a little bit.. I'M just gon na use a full wig. Whoa Timber.. How are you even attached, How I think I got'em all. All right? The last method is cheating.. I pretty much did this method in my gingerbread dress and I got a few people asking how I did it. So here we are. It is not a match. (, chuckles ), But that's okay'cause. It'S a full wig. For laziness purposes. I'M just gon na put my hair up like this and then just put it on top.. While my hair is not this vibrant, I think it's close enough where I am going to just pull out some of my bangs so that it blends into the wig a little bit.. Obviously, this is not necessary.. I just think that it helps blend the wig. Blend. The wig. Bwend, the wig. - I am just going to grab most of this. You could do all but feel like it helps with a wig to leave some of it out., Especially if you don't have full-lace wig, which this is not.. This was already expensive as it was. ( chuckles ) And I will not be shamed.. Some people buy themselves expensive gadgets and toys, but you know what My money pit of choice is wigs.. Oh, I need a hair elastic. I'll be back yet again.. Don'T miss me too much.. Now, I'm gon na try my best to brush this up. Just to make it a little bit different from my other methods and not just pile this. On top of my head, which normally I would do we're gon na make a little ponytail, so I'm taking that hair in an elastic., I would say 2/3 the way down of that pony, you're gon na secure, it., Okay. So now you have that and you're gon na take that elastic section, bring it up. Whew, I'm sweating. Before you pin it, you can kind of pull out the hair on both sides, give it some volume and I'm gon na pin that.. You can again do as much brushing and futzing as you like., Okay, so that's that.! Then I'm gon na take the end part of that pony wrap it. So it makes like a little bun., Maybe bring it up like a tiny bit., ( jaunty, music ). That'S pretty much it. ( chuckles ). Now I probably should have made a little bit more volume here on the sides, but not too bad. As the accessory I swear. This is the last time I'm gon na get up. Mark my words., I'm taking a ribbon and making a little bow. ( dramatic music, ), ( bell, dings ), just add a little loop. And let's, if I can do this without looking at it on camera. (, Rachel chuckles ), I'm putting it right. Oh no. Bobby, pinning the loop and hoping that that looks good'cause. You have no idea.. You should probably go up a little at the end of the bun. ( chuckling ). This is great fun. Okay., All right. How's that What the frick ♪ Good enough ♪ Mm. That'S that. Again this one's kind of cheating, because the wig does do 93 % of the work.. I don't know. I just thought: I'd share regardless. ( reel whirring and clicking ) ( jaunty, music )! That'S that's all she wrote. Were these helpful at all. I don't know, but you know what I just wanted to share kind of the experiments that I've been doing to fake that historic hair, because that's something that I seriously was worried about. When I cut my hair., I just wanted to show that it is possible and in some ways it's easier than when I had my longer hair.. So I don't know I just wanted to sit down and futz around with my hair.. I think we have officially futzed.. Hopefully you had fun.. I know this is sort of like a filler video, but the project that I'm currently working on is really really time consuming and fun, and I'm really excited to show you. That will be out next week. Welcome to the new year.. Let'S have some fun. ( stomach grumbles, ), Hungry., (, chuckles ). I love you whether you're new or old, to this channel.. If you're new here and you feel like sticking around, feel free to subscribe., I upload most Fridays. And we have fun. Here. ( smacks lips. ) - And I will see you in my next video. Bye. (, Rachel grunts, ), (, Rachel humming, ) ♪, Just gim me a call. ♪ Hello, You are just. I am just. Ah I'm gon na pretend to .... Ah, Come on you bitch. Get in there. ( Rachel groans, ), (, jaunty, music, )

Chloe Chartier: "the higher the hair the closer to potential extraterrestrial life" ICONIC

Sammy Barry: Rachel out here looking like the human embodiment of a strawberry shortcake and we're ALL HERE FOR IT <3

Sophia Torchinsky: A Victorian ms. Frizzle needs to happen lol!!!! Who agrees? Love you Rachel . Thank you for always brightening my day!

Stacey Sears: We demand a Victorian Miss Frizzell! Seriously, I need to see the miss Frizzell dress but make it Victorian. Please. Only you can do this. It is your calling.

Lauren Owen: 100% expected Rachel to say "pin your hair on top of your head like your life dePINS on it"

Kirsten Paff: I am all aboard the Victorian Ms. Frizzle hype train. Just imagine her with a steampunk school bus!

Lore Skoulatos: Would literally watch Rachel drink an iced coffee for 15 min and do nothing else. I really love how transparent Rachel is with taking her time on projects/being in the best headspace to make content. Not many creators are and it makes watching her all the more wholesome and comforting to watch. Much rather wait for a project she is really excited on than a rushed one! (and her filler content slaps too!)

Maja Hinterberg: I meeaan I love the hair BUT.. can we just appreciate the mural in the back?! I somehow completely forgot about it and now I'm in awe of it for the second time :) it's simply brings so much *whimsy* :›

Sarah Phillips: Rachel dyes hair 50 times and still manages glorious shine. I dye my hair once and it’s straw. Sorcery?

kimberliulfr: dearest rachel, i LOVE you filler videos cuz they feel cozy and like we’re hangin’ together :) and now (thanks to you) i’m feeling extra musey ✨

Bee Kay: So happy shes back! She makes life lighter and happier :D

Little Hamster: I do love the contrast between your romantic, sweet, floral looks and the "Emo's Not Dead" mug :') Happy new year! Here's to many more fun projects :)

Buffy Cary: I, in fact, actually was watching some of your older videos from the vault this week. Lol. One thing I want to say, with the utmost love and appreciation, is that you are exactly the same in those videos as you are now. A lot of times, you will sadly see people become a "Hollywood" version of themselves when their channel gains a certain number of followers. You, Rachel, are still 100% your authentic self, and I fully admire that. ❤️❤️❤️

PricklyAlpaca: This was such a fun cozy video I very much enjoyed watching this to procrastinate on my work

ElleMNO: My hair is what has been called “exorbitantly long.” So long I sat on it recently & almost broke my neck. I always fantasize about lopping it all off & this makes me want to go for it all the more.

Taylyn Grace: Girl, the things you do for us... got the notification the second this uploaded and I'm watching now to REWARD myself for all the crap I accomplished today. BLESS U FOR SHOWING UP RN I NEEDED THIS HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND ❤

Zelda's Fox: Victorian Ms. Frizzle cosplay that can be an every day dress is something I need to see now

Katie Duncan: Clearly my brain still thinks of 'Rachel with long red hair' as normal, because at no point in the gingerbread dress video did I go '...wait her hair is long again!'

magnolia: Rachel you look SO GOOD with short hair, my heart is fluttering. You're like my aesthetic icon, a literal flower fairy living in the woods under a giant mushroom sipping hot cups of tea.

Anna Abney: Well now you've done it. We need a Victorian Ms. Frizzle cosplay.

Shirley Carter: As a hairdresser that has loved styling my daughters hair as she's grown up,she always got comments on how lovely it's looked as not the normal plats/ponys/ headbands, she has curly hair which helped and still to this day wears it herself in completely unique styles. Be confident and be yourself. Xxx

missolivehead: I have frustration-cried simply curling my hair. I have so much respect for your hair skills!

Olivia Williamson: Happy 2023 Rachel and everyone else watching. And also sending hugs to anyone who hasn’t had a great new year

Ben's Space Agency: Omg the “mars attacks” hairdo at the beginning just from brushing is soooo cute!!! Especially how it bounces :)

ItWasAGoodIdeaAtTheTime: Well it sounds like 2023 has gotten off to a hair-raising start for you Rachel.

ItsQuinn: I always thought you'd make an amazing Victorian Ms. Frizzle and then you made a reference to it! Hope you didn't feel to sick after your experience on Christmas. And Nick had a wonderful birthday too!

Elizabeth lemonadebubble: I have really short hair with bangs just like you and it does the weird flippy thing as well. At first I was annoyed with it but now I think its kinda cute. Of course I don't curl my hair like you do. Love the different hairstyles you've figured out how to do. I've been struggling with ways to do my own hair and this really helped!

fishmakegoodpets: OK now I NEED you to dress like a victorian Mrs. Frizzle. PLEASE PLEASE DO THAT. Or better yet- Mrs. Frizzle throughout different eras..

The_Rumpled_Book: My grandma is 92 and was being so cute -- she tried to show me how to do my hair in a pseudo french twist, and it was so cute because she's trying to teach me how to do this, I'm going along with it, and then my mom is trying to give me pointers so I can do it better, but I'm just mouthing to her, "I'm never gonna do this," because I hate my hair up. So I just indulged her a bit and this made me think of it. Watching someone do a hair tutorial I'm never gonna do, because it's sweet and soothing.

Siennaflower: Rachel, your hair skills are miraculous. So is everything you do! I don't know how you spend 99% of your time in chaos, only to end up with the most amazing visuals in the end!!! ❤️

Alexis Payne: A classic GRWM, makeup, or hairdo video is always welcome! Always entertaining, informative, relatable, and delightful.

cclear8050: As a regular cosplayer of Ms. Frizzle, I heartedly agree with a Victorian Frizzle! Also, what lipstick are you wearing? I love the color!

Okusamawamajo: oooh, Victorian Ms. Frizzle would be an excellent cosplay. Another cozy Friday night hanging out with Rachel--thank you for spending time with us!

MLE49: OMG! PLEASE make a Victorian Miss Frizzle video!

wifeofsauron: Maybe I'm a weirdo but I kind of love all the different shades in your hair. Maybe it's just the way it picks up on camera but it looks really cool and adds a lot of depth. Also, I love the way the 60s flip looks on you!

Katerrinah: So every new years ever I sadly tell my mother "I won't be able to see you until next year" and I'm so glad I'm not the only one who jokes like that ❤️

Lindsay Lydell: That first style was complemented by the hat well (though many women in history had wore them as a matter of course)--and fake hair in upper echelons were common too, so no cheating there! Seriously, that wall mural is so pretty. A lovely background.

Brittany G: The "historic roman statuesque hair" that you showed at the beginning of the video was giving me major Lizzie Bennet at the Netherfield ball vibes. Maybe it's time for another Pride & Prejudice cosplay?

Jane Beck: Agreeing with everyone in the comments who wants a But Make it Vintage Victorian Miss Frizzle video or cosplay!

Staynab: Yay, the return of my favourite youtuber! I'm so excited for this new year and what fun ideas you have living rent-free in your head, hope you have a good start of the year!

Sherry Milner: I have caught myself singing "good enoooough" on a daily basis and I just wanted to let you know you inspire more than you know haha! Love you and your phrases!

Jen M: That last style had a distinct Kate Winslet in "Titanic" vibe. Je l'adore!

Pokupatel Pokupatel: I'm enjoying these 'filler' videos. And i am glad, that you are taking your time with the projects. By the way, you are not obligated to fill the week in between the projects. Just take it easy. We will still watch and enjoy your chaotic yet very entertaining content. Thank you for creating.

ella: I've been regretting cutting my hair recently since I felt like I had less variety in styles but you proved me wrong! Thanks Rachel!

Gio Kyria: This is really helpful! I’m currently (translate: for the last decade) in a phase where I’m simultaneously wanting big swooping Gibson updos, really short floof curls like you, and a full death hawk with complimentary ear-tails… I’ve finally decided to shave my sides soon, and was wondering how I could get somewhat Edwardian hair with 2/3 of my hair missing :’) if I can’t figure it out I might just say screw it and also cut most of my length off just to make things worse

Rylynn: I love your videos. I have always loved watching them and they bring me so much joy. Thank you for making your content.

JanetorMC: But Make It Vintage: Victorian Ms. Frizzle NEEDS TO EXIST, STAT

Dorro: Hi Rachel! Video suggestion! When Bridgerton season 3 is premiering this spring, you should do a Bridgerton look! I know regency isn't your favorite, but a good conflict makes for a good story, right? Also, I am positive you would sew a better-fitting dress than any of the dresses in the actual show (the waist goes on top of the underboob, like, hello?!). Please, I am craving some good regency fashion videos. (If not a dress, what about men's fashion? Those embroidered waistcoats, ammiright?)

lgleason14: Yay! More hairstyle videos! That's how I found your channel all those years ago. My favorite YouTuber succeeds again!

Greg Putnam: "But Make It Vintage" episode for Ms. Frizzle could be amazing! I do not think I have ever seen her in a vintage outfit but there are so many MSB episodes, it is hard to keep track of where she takes her class.

w lammy: It’s so funny to me how our fav youtubers give us free and delightful content that we all eat up like candy, and then say “I know this was a bit of a less amazing/long/exciting video” as if we’re not all super stoked on everything they post

Ruby Wittmayer: "a Victorian Ms. Frizzle" a costume I never knew I needed until now

The Suburban Hobbit: Veeery cute and also very helpful: I'm in the (very long) process of growing my hair out from an under cut of 6mm and they're still not quite long enough to do any of these except the wig part, but in a few months they will, and I'll definitely come back to this for some help on what to do with them :)

mariccanana na: Filler videos are also so much fun to watch < 3 I would gladly watch anything you upload - doesnt matter if its huge project or chatty tutorial

Sam Prest: You are the human epitome of 'futz around and find out', and as a fellow Taurus I am LIVING for it

Mary Ashbury: Rachel: apologizes for filler video Me: I have a drawer full of bandanas to hide my shame, and now I can probably retire them.

Gabriel Hanssens: rachel :*with a lump of hair casually sitting on her head* "you can leave it like that if you want" 60s fashionable youths: "don't mind if i do!"

Jessica Gonsalvez: This was weirdly reassuring to me? I chopped a huge chunk of my hair off so it would be more manageable while I did surgery and recovery, and while that was a great idea, recently I've been getting the sads about how little I can do with it. Now I'm feeling more hopeful about what I can do as it gets longer

AshNight1214: PLEASE PLEASE DO A VICTORIAN MISS FRIZZLE!! I'm so here for a whole outfit and Karolina Zebrowska Miss Tatternickle-style short!

Anna Spitz: Thank you for putting light-hearted and cozy vibes in my life ✨ happy New year Rachel!

Lucie Králová: Rachel, if you ever need some "leisure/more" time, you can just do a chatty video (without making anything tangible). I believe most of us won`t mind and it will give you more time for your projects. We`re just here for the ride :) Have a great 2023!

Lari Vari: Is it creepy that I discovered that I can create a great up-do with my chin length hair literally four hours ago and now you drop this video?

sunshinespace: Omg can you do a Victorian Miss Frizzle costume!? Fantastic idea.

Melissa Gutiérrez: YES TO A VICTORIAN MS. FRIZZLE!!!!! Please make that a video

Pilerita: I really like this "filler" videos as much as the more complicated project videos. For me, and I think most of your audience will agree, it's not as much about what you do, whatever you're doing it's interesting because you are the one doing it. You could be peeling an egg and I would still watch you do it! ❤️

Katie Hettinger: Rachel is actually historically correct with the wig as a hair piece. Just look in the Sears catalogs from the 1800's and early 1900's Let's all sing, "Everything old is new again."

Alisha Herbitter: As a short hair having lady this is a timely video!

Heather Crumly: Rachel, you said “Victorian Ms. Frizzle” and now that’s all I want in this new year. Could you pls?

Meandmy Tea: Rachel thought of this... OFF THE TOP OF HER HEAD

Therese: It’s official! We NEED a Victorian Ms. Frizzle cosplay

QkrAnarchist: Literally laughed out loud in full love and hilarity at the "toupee drop" and chuckled the whole way through hair #2. Rachel is a joy. ❤️‼️

Crafty Muffin: My sister was watching over my shoulder and she asked “is she a time traveler making YouTube videos from the past” so job well done

sarah carlson: Just came here to talk about how A-solutely epic the "emo's not dead" mug is

Christine Barnes: Happy New Hair Rach ‍♀️Love the tutorial - off to switch on me heated curlers

Nicole Ranulf: When I was in college my sister called me "The Queen of the Messy Updo" but you, my dear, are the Empress.

Mikaela Renshaw: Okay, but now that you've said it, I would love to see you do a Victorian Ms. Frizzle costume. It would be a great opportunity to pay homage to the crazy prints and color combinations that the Victorians loved

Sleepy Peachy: For real tho if you did a Victorian version of miss frizzle for a video that would be iconic

Robin Pike: In my previous career as an archivist, I went on a tour of an archival storage facility deep underground. Disney (and other movie studios) actually have literal vaults across the country. They would temporarily remove old films for restoration/digitization for resale. Our tour group wasn't allowed to go into the Disney vault, but we went into others.

Echo the Saving Sorceress: I too dream of being Ms. Frizzle. She’s the reason I dress almost entirely in delightfully on the nose space-themed dresses! I adored learning how to create historic-looking hairstyles. Thank you for the tips!

heyzorgzilla: Love you Rachel! You brighten up my Saturday mornings ☀️

Michelle Gentry: Love the coffee cup ☕️ Emo's Not Dead. Shout out to Matt Cutshall. Love your videos. Even the quickly thrown together one's when you run out of time.

Josefine Egerszegi: Great stuff! Having followed you for a few years it's so great to see you getting more confident with time ☺️ Your casual video style has inspired me to share my own work and have more fun with it!

Loren Polk: I’m a librarian and my go-to costume is Ms. Frizzle - what an icon! A Victorian Ms Frizzle would be awesome!

elliexls: Queen of filming, editing, and uploading all in one day!!

MM: Love this. A little niche but the early bussel, natural form poodle fringe is a hairstyle I really love. Could you do a makeup tutorial (can be a short) as this makeup is so pretty. And maybe following historical makeup again. I love the Etsy shop littlebits used to be lbcc historical apothecary

Annabel Allan: I actually LOVE these type of cozy videos. I enjoy the big makes, but these cozy vids are a nice change of pace. I hope we see more of them!! ❤

Ísabel: Hey Happy New Year! actually this is exactly the content I needed to encourage my weird hair futzing I have butt length under-layer of dreadlocks and a freaking shoulder length of a sortofabob (curly hair wants to be a bob...) on top and I refuse to give up on trying to make it work! Ps your little 'good enough" melody has been in my daily repertoire thank you!

Maggie Blackbird: I love the short hair and love it on myself as well. I’m a redhead and dying hair red is not easy. I started going to a stylist once my natural color started fading. Home color looked blotchy and by the time the difficult to color parts processed other areas got too colored. I have had success with Overtone to add vibrancy and color my roots between salon visits. Plus my stylist adds highlights which brighten my complexion and helps blend the white hairs in. Nicole Rudolph did a YouTube video on the 1880s craze for short hair which was so interesting. She has a lot of historic portraits of women rocking their short hair. Of course the men flipped out and acted like it was the end of world. The women pointed out that since they put their hair up anyway, it didn’t matter. Others rebelled in a fantastic way and made sure their hair cut was obvious. Then they got their portraits taken showing their hair off.

Hal F: I love seeing your hair videos anyway, but especially now that your hair is short! My hair is short and I never thought I could do these styles (but I am growing it out)

Sharon Rhoads: Love the curls on top of just your hair. It would be so cute to wear this spring with your sun dresses. You amaze me with your talent.

ce january: Your hair videos are my favorite! I have similar hennaed blonde hair and you might be having problems because the "black" could be over-saturated henna that is hard to get rid of. I used Sun-In on the ends that were oversaturated and added heat from a blow dryer over a couple months (about once a week) and then went to only hennaing my roots after that and now I have ginger hair again. Messaged you on IG about it if you want any help!

Percy Todd: Youre an absolutely gorgeous woman, and this was so cool to see! Great styles on you!!

Kelley Gaston: Happy new year Rachel! Thank you for posting this special tutorial. I am going to be doing a fashion show with a group of ladies who are not into doing history per se in August. This is a great tutorial for them to do 1940s hair.

Gwyn Spooky: I’m in the short hair gang and this gave me a lot of ideas! Also I stopped the video to put some blush on my nose like yours it’s just so cute

Livia Marques: Your mural looks so good as much as I love a good intricate project, I also LOVE a hair video! Takes me back, you used to do a lot of those

z p: I love your makeup and hair videos, even when they're made because your current project got away from you! If you think they're filler that's fine, but I love them almost as much as your other videos

Michelle Stevenson: I came across (and subbed!) your channel fairly recently. I just had to say a genuine thank you! for sharing all you do and making me lol over your amazing transparent self while truly leaning so much! ❤

mastersadvocate: HAPPY NEW YEAR, RACHEL!! I love watching your Hair videos! Faking historic hair is fun!! I had fun watching this video!! ~Janet in Canada

Steph Mayville: Victorian Miss Frizzle sounds like an AMAZING idea for a video!! Happy New Year :)

Shlelbleh: Over the holidays I binge watched 90% of your videos! It was great
