She marries rod Blanchard at age 24 together. The couple welcomes a beautiful baby girl perfectly healthy, pretty little baby name there rules I was excited and very scared. I'M not gon na lie. I was scared, I'm 18 years old and I had a baby here so, but she was beautiful and perfectly healthy. Yes, she was nothing wrong with her but perfect. You wan na blow me a kiss very good, but the relationship was far from perfect and the couple broke up not long after the TD was saying that she was sick, problem, sleeping epilepsy and it just progressed from there. Leukemia paralyzed, muscular dystrophy and she would have seizures, was probably seven eight years old he's in a wheelchair. Now she needs a feeding. Tube was didi, a good mother. I told didi. She was the best mother. There'S no way I can do what you're doing you have a sick child. You it's constantly 24/7 taking care of her and everything I mean always praised her and told her good job rod and his new wife Christie would have sporadic visits with, but they are never alone. You know all the visits Dede had to be there the whole time. Something never felt right about it. Just Deanie was so controlling over. This is the last photo taken of rod with his daughter before fate would seemingly deal gypsy and didi another cruel blow, leaving the pair displaced and depleted by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. In some areas, the water is now 20 feet deep, their home ravaged by the storm in floodwaters they took refuge at this nearby special need, shelter. I'Ve learned from didi was that they were homeless no place to go so immersed hostel owner died map on the helicopter. They were evacuated here to Springfield Missouri, birthplace of route 66, a tight-knit community in the buckle of the Bible Belt, with DD a full-time caregiver, they're forced to piece together a life largely from donations, disability payments and child support from gypsies. I remember my mom had gave me this little glass house, and she said this one day. This will be real. The Blanchard's moved into that house, built by Habitat for Humanity. A wheelchair ramp was built just for her. She was like one of the happiest people I had ever met, and yet she was the most sick that I had ever met at the same time in between hospital stays gypsy frequently jet sets across the country. Ball games galas the most magical place on earth Disney World Make A Wish particular down to Orlando all expenses paid in everything she even got to meet country, superstars Miranda, Lambert and then husband, Blake, Shelton Miranda, Lambert came to sprinkle a few times and I think she Gave CD and chip food money? Yes, she did look at this thirty five hundred dollar check from the singers personal account, but that wasn't all must I do check her out, posing with her favorite actors, Elijah, Wood and Sean Astin from Lord of the Rings. That sounds like a really awesome life, but I mean it's not worth like what condition her health was in, but in private gypsy just wants to be a regular teen and find love according to friend and neighbor alia, Woodman Z. She would show interest in like different boys and try to ask me advice on, like you know how how do you approach them? How do you like kiss a boy Aliya says mom didi, didn't approve of the girl talk? It was like my daughter. peepee popoo: i’m honestly just confused how the doctors didn’t realize she wasn’t actually sick. And for those who did, why they didn’t say anything. like in general how was she able to keep it up for so long?

Kay Genyse: Imagine at the age of 7 you have no hair, a feeding tube, and in a wheelchair FOR NO REASON

Sailing Nandji - Frothlyfe: The first time Gypsy ran away her mum convinced a lawyer to write up papers stating that she was mentally incapable of looking after herself. She told Gypsy that if she ran away again she would show the police the papers and they will bring her right back and no one would believe her. I felt trapped myself hearing that.

Jordin _eek: The sad thing is how careless the doctors, surgeons, nurses were oblivious of her perfect health.

AngieFaith69: Why is she in prison. It’s not like she’s a danger to society. If anything, she desperately wanted to be a part of society and that’s why she did this!!

42obeccaa: She wasn't a murderer, she's a survivor

J M: I really feel so bad for this sweet girl. She's a victim 100%.

Phoenix 97: I feel sad for her. Imagine having no childhood and then now will spend her whole life inside prison.

Adia Aud: It’s even sadder when you realize Gypsy wasn’t the one who physically killed her mom. Her boyfriend did while she sat in the bathroom and cried while it happened. She said it in an interview. She needs to be released it’s sad

the swift vet: Joey king portrayed her flawlessly Edit: omg I've never got this many likes everrrr

James: You shouldn't punish people for fighting to defend themselves and escape abuse. She didn't kill her mother for the satisfaction of it.

Sunny: This is still one one of the most chilling and messed up cases that I've ever heard about.

_._niaraa: The fact that she was still able to smile throughout all of this is amazing to me

MelatoninQueen69: I hope once she’s released from prison that she’s able to make something wonderful out of her life.

jehewin Udenjijaja: Gypsy killing her mom was self defense in my opinion

Day6atemywallet: I’m surprised Gypsy actually realized she’s not sick. Imagine being made to believe that you were sick from a young age

Phenomenal Woman: So Gypsy Rose said that her mom told the doctor she wasn’t eating And immediately they just put a feeding tube. How effing crazy is that?!

m3lsch3rub: “I didn’t hate her, i just wanted to escape her.” -Gypsy Rose

Darly Nascimento: I feel sorry for her. She was a victim of horrible abuse her entire life, without any doctor ever freeing her and when she finally escaped, she was punished to jail. It's like a caged lion who finally attacked to man with the stick and got shot.

i.am.d@ddy: my question is: how did the doctors not notice that there was nothing wrong with her

HH: I can't imagine how terribly twisted someone must be to want so much attention that they poison, cripple, and torture their own child for attention.

Victoria Ivanova: Can we talk about how this girl has been imprisoned her entire life! She was literally abused and in some way tortured by her mother and then sent to prison, when honestly I think her boyfriend at the time should have been sent there. I feel so sorry for her and I wish all the best in the future.

tackless: I just watched this entire documentary. What a shame that this Child was failed by so many people and by so much of the medical establishment that it's incomprehensible. She actually seems like a very sweet kid that just never had a chance in life. I hope she finds happiness when she gets out.

jaime evermore: People don't understand just how trapped you feel when you're being abused. In order to keep their victims close, they guilt trip you, and do whatever they can to make you feel like you NEED them. She's nothing but a victim.

Moni🎀: Poor girl is suffering now in prison because of her own mother and doctors, what a world sad.

gabby: My mom told me about Gypsy about 2 years ago when she used to talk to her in prison, Gypsy was 2 or 3 doors down from my mom. Gypsy would talk to my mom about what happened and would invite her in to talk when she needed someone to talk too. When my mom called me from the prison (Gypsy is still there for just a couple more years) ( my mom got out last year and is now fully clean for 10 months) she would tell me about all her friends, Gypsy being one of them and when I watched her documentary I just thought it was such a bizarre story. I thought I would share this knowing that my mom knew her. Also an interesting fact my mom said (not an insult) Gypsies voice was high almost sounding like Mickey Mouse. Okay that’s all any question ask below.

La vie en rose —-: The mother was giving her sorts of unnecessary medicine. One that even made her teeth fell off

Alice Hallam: She was lucky to survive the horrors her torturer put her through. Such a strong spirit, and I would be proud to have her as my daughter. Bless you, hope you are coming to terms, and are released very soon.

psydoof: The fact that her mom gave her medication to interpret these symptoms is disgusting anyone who disagrees is honestly as bad as the mom

SpacePrinceAmes: 1:39 the look in his eyes and the way he said that made me so heartbroken. She was just a sweet innocent baby girl.

coconut 🥥: my heart melted, she’s such a sweet soul she doesn’t deserve jail she’s so adorable and her voice is just

Kaushaleee: Her smile is so pure and real

weepingwillows21: I've lived my entire life in a body that won't allow me to do the simplest things. There are times when just taking a shower is exhausting. Dee Dee stole this girl's childhood. and honestly, it's no surprise she finally exploded.

JACOB SNÖBLOND: This is heartbreaking. She isn't a murderer. She just wanted the abuse to end

Joo: Seeing how good the dad looks now and how terrible Dee Dee ended up looking is incredible.

Mara Cuja: What Dee Dee did to harm her own daughter to get sympathy and attention is disgusting! I cannot even imagine how Gypsy must have felt growing up, not knowing her real age and thinking that she would actually die young due to her multiple diseases

Random kid: For everyone who didn’t know the doctors found out she wasn’t sick but every time every someone found out they moved

Samurai Levi: My heart goes out to her. I just want to hug her because I know she is an adult now and that couldn’t have not screwed her up.

★ Ohayo Marcy!: Tadinha de Gypsy, nem sabia que oq realmente a fazia mal estava bem ao seu lado e era quem ela mais confiava e amava...

LMN1966: She took a deal! Good for her! I feel like I'm more free in prison, than with living with my mom. Because now, I'm allowed to just live like a normal woman. — Gypsy Rose Blanchard, January 4, 2018

Nuha Ismaeel: Mother: lies about child’s condition to get money and praise, gives her daughter all sorts of drugs so her condition appears real, attempts to stop her from growing up by saying she has rn he mentality of a child Rose: kills mother out of self defence, so she can live a life her mother never let her live Who is at fault?

Ella Davis: She needs deep therapy to deal with this, not prison. It was a deep, sad cry for help

seline B: She didn’t deserve to go to jail she basically got half of her life taken away :( her mother used her as a bank n made her take all those medications n a feeding tube!!! all she wanted was love ❤️

Fashioniologist: She was kidnapped and abused for years!! she finally escaped her kidnapper not her fault that person was her mother!! So heart breaking

Ambzer Ambzer: It is a big shame with this story when you know the full story. Gypsy now (After she was caught) was very open and honest and you can see that she is quite intelligent, it’s hard to believe she was forced to be so behind and didn’t go to school. It’s a shame she didn’t think about standing up to her mother, in a public place and expose her, her mother would’ve gotten arrested and Gypsy would’ve be free (But honestly we don’t know that, we don’t know people would’ve bothered to check the house etc or protected Gypsy with a restraining order and separated her) we just don’t know. But the things that gets me is not only the medication but mostly the operations, I will just never understand why or even how doctors could put her under and operate on her, I mean if there’s nothing to be fixed what the hell are they doing? Gypsy should not only sue them, but she could’ve opened her mouth when her mother wasn’t there, I think. Also she had internet access, I feel like she could’ve sent a tip to someone to check things out (if she was able to have a secret relationship online for a year) There are other options

Meema X: The act actually nailed it! They got all the details right! Even down to how the father looks

Abbey the biscuit: She doesn’t deserve to be locked up. Her most important years were taken by her greedy disgusting mother

jess :D: I feel so bad for her being abused like that, but her story is truly fansinating on how a mother could do that

PantoponRose Goatoe: As a nurse I feel the medical community failed and harmed Gypsy!

Mackenzie: I am from where this girl was raised and it is just crazy how I have never heard this story from time to time my teachers would talk about the case to other teachers but that was it

Isabella Leone-Holmes: The system failed her, and it still is failing her.

Stephanie: She DOES NOT deserve anytime in prison PERIOD!!!! That evil manipulative ABUSER stole her childhood!!!!

Hopeful Nadjer: What she needs is rehabilitation, an education, skills and a chance

Gray: When I heard they moved to Springfield I was honestly kind of shocked to hear all of this happened so close to where I live. My family and I moved about 14 minutes away from OTC in early 2015 (which is when I believe Gypsy killed her mother? I might be wrong I don't know), which surprised me when I didn't know that it had even happened so close.

Vicki C: She was doing self defense against her mother you don’t deserve to be held hostage by your own Mother smh ‍♀️

Artricia Walker: She was so innocent what her mom did was wrong

Helin: I think she needs mental help, after what she’s been trough. How is jail going to help?

Sandra Jefferson: This case is so crazy it really shows you, you never really know people or what’s going on in their lives.

okzoomer: I had a parent who also committed Munchausen, sometimes by proxy. She'd paint a very distorted picture of ordinary things I went through growing up. She did this to hide abuse she committed to me, and it worked with nearly every unnecessary provider I was forced to see as a kid. So many unnecessary and damaging meds and medical procedures, and I was threatened with worse. When you're a spitfire little kid who stands up for yourself, society views you as defiant and not obedient to authority (your parents). You are always assumed wrong and, because you're small and not a fully developed adult, assumed not capable of giving a truthful account. When a source of abuse is hidden, your word as a child will never be taken for granted so long as a seemingly loving adult looms and speaks over you. If society doesn't want to see this happen to another child again, we must culturally reform and approach children, and their accounts of their life, very differently. No more putting parents up on a pedestal for deceivingly good acts when a child tries to speak up.

Bec Sykes: She doesn't deserve to be locked up She deserves therapy and help for what her mother did to her No child should go through that kind of thing

Logan Paul’s Nan: It makes me so sad how happy she looks in those pictures

marley abbott: the system failed her, it really did. the social workers should have been right on to it

Ivan Hoek: This is the living proof that you can make doctors do anything you want that’s why there are so many people addicted to pills, but most importantly that kid didn’t deserve to go to prison, that was pure self defense , i’d love to ask that stupid judge and jury in that trail how would the like to have their teeth pulled out and a feeding tube put in and being confined to a wheelchair for 14 years with no one to help you , what would any of you had done? , it’s like being kidnaped then you kill your attacker and get charged for it give me a break , she didn’t even know how old she was for crying out loud , that was mental and physical abuse beyond belief and she gets put in prison, what a stupidity

Nancy B.: The doctors who actually performed surgeries on her should be sued within an inch of their lives. It doesn't matter what somebody tells you about somebody else. A doctor is responsible for making their own medical determination. If nothing else, she should come out of this a wealthy woman.

Eva Lehnert: So ein süßes Mädchen. Sie hat so ein schwieriges Leben und ist immer mit einem Lächeln im Gesicht.❤

SumandoMomentosJuntos: I find this story fascinating. I can’t get my head around how it all happened… how does a mother do this? How will her dad be able to live thought this…. How can someone (in this case gypsy) be more free in prison than living with her mother…) in my opinion gypsy should of gone to somewhere she could of got help go understands what she has gone though and able to find happiness when she gets out to the world. I hope she is able to live her life soon, and be happy ♥️

Kiara Thomas: I noticed some people wondered why she just didnt get up and go. That one time she left with that guy from Disney land, her mom followed her like a stalker. She brain washed her, manipulated her, physically and mentally abused her. Her mom was not going to let her leave.

transhilbert: Knowing what these people did thinking they were helping rose and her mom- breaks my heart

NaughtyFrench: she didn't kill her mother, she saved her life. I didn't know we put survivors in jail. SAD REALITY #JusticeforGypsy

Jays Vlogs: Omgosh she is the sweetest girl ever! And I love her name it’s so pretty!

LMN1966: You have to understand what she's endured. Can't fathom! She learned traits from her mother. Manipulation for her bf to kill Dee Dee. She's free of her mother and bf! I truly believe that this was a call for help. She was saved... she's doing well in prison. Hope she gets the continued help she needs! She's up for parole 2024! All the best to her! And she's pretty with her hair! (Edited for grammar)

Felicia Lewis: Me:See’s girl going through very hard times and still smiling. Also me:Crying for and hour and a half straight because my mom didn’t take the crust off of my PB&J sandwich ‍♀️

Sandra Jefferson: Why is she put in prison? After everything she’s went through by her mum? It’s a miracle she was even alive that long after all the medication her crazy mother give her over the years.

Ivnarjoonie: When I watch videos like these, I think that there is people out her make others suffer like this. When you think about it some things people do in this world is so sick

Sabrina Monteferrante: After all that, she’s still smiling in every picture.

annika: The start broke me. She looked so happy. Behind those smiles hurt

ina stocks: After everything she’s been through, it boggles my mind that she’s in jail and isn’t receiving help

Sara Flint: This doesn't look anything like she looks today. She still has that childlike voice, but I can't believe it's the same person. Part of me despises that woman, but I also know she was mentally ill. The doctors were at fault as well for not doing any diagnostic testing. They could have easily found that she had nothing wrong. Now she's lost yet another 5 years of her life sitting in prison.

VGB0009: Her mother was suspected of poisoning her OWN mother, she went to such extremes to make her daughter appear sick by giving her medications, feeding tubes, and surgeries she didn't even need. And then she said her daughter only had till her teens to live?... I truly believe Gypsy would be dead by now if she never took action. Dee dee would have done anything to keep this charade going even if it meant killing her daughter.

Llama Del Rey: No way should gypsy have been locked up. She isn’t a threat to anyone. She just wanted her life to be her own and not her evil, manipulative mothers

maza: That thing when a lie is told so many times it becomes truth. But still incomprehensible how not a single soul realized.

AmonyNous: This poor girl suffered through so much abuse and gaslighting by her vile mother, and "the justice" system puts her in jail for defending her right to live. This infuriates me to the bone. She deserves to be monetarily compensated for this injustice and given her life back. Those who put her in jail should be sentenced to life.

VcookingUpDaSauce: The girl who played in the act on Hulu did really good. But also it is very weird to watch her go from a silly movie like Ramona and beezus to such a mature role

sweetcandies 290: How can other doctors not look more into the medical diagnosis of leukemia and muscle dystrophy? She was treated for a multiple diagnosis she never had... that is terrifying and horrible. How could this happen?

Gai: They should’ve classified it as self defense but gotten her trauma help, or physiological help, not shove her in prison... that’s horrible, with that much medication? The mother was literally poisoning her....

DN supporter: ayo free my girl gypsy she ain’t do nothin wrong

Just Simply Ree: I dontnunderstand why shes in prison because her mother was torturing her for years

GrGr K: how did people not realize how healthy she was. not just the doctors , just normal people. going “through” some like that that you will never be as happy as you once were.

LMN1966: I feel like I'm more free in prison, than with living with my mom. Because now, I'm allowed to just live like a normal woman[14] — Gypsy Rose Blanchard, 20/20, January 4, 2018

IamBellaK: I’ve been obsessed with this story since it came into my suggestion. There needs to be more to help Gypsy. Murder was the easy way out for Dee Dee ‍♀️

ItsNiyaDemi: i wish her mom was alive so someone could ask her why did she do this? i know her mom clearly has a mental illness.

TweekBrews: To people saying she should be free, she has said before she feels free and better in prison. She also had no other choice because she tried running away but was caught and threatened. Yes, she didn't kill her mother but she was an accomplice (murder by proxy/premeditated/assisted murder). And to people saying she needs mental health treatment, she probably received/receives counseling and treatment. There's facilities for that in prisons.

MxCartney: Gypsy is a beautiful angel, who just wanted to escape the pain.......she should be free Also how did the doctors allow this?

Ingrid Beatriz: Coitada mano ela sofreu tanto

Mᴀᴋᴀʏʟᴀ Sᴇʀʀᴀɴᴏ: This whole story is a literal slap in the face x10 to people who are truly sick and disabled..

Black Cat Film Productions: I remember reading an article about a kid being bullied for being a dwarf and both mother & son were getting hand out from people for it. But later on I heard it was all made up to make us all look foolish. I don't know what to believe anymore.

Tiffany Thomas: The fact that the doctors didn’t realize she wasn’t sick is beyond me

Radical Honesty: I just want to say: I'm in love. In love with a special person, in love with myself, in love with life, in love with God, in love with all that I AM, in love with all that is. I love life. I've spent my whole life in a suicidal hell, and for the first time ever, that's all permanently shifting NOW...

clubpenguinluvr4: this poor girl deserves therapy, not jail.

A L: After watching the series The Act, it is completely understandable the murder of her mother. Death as terrible as it is it was the only way to freedom for Gypsy. Gypsy will endure trauma for the rest of her life and no one will take this from her. This is the real tragedy.
