How To Change My Salomon Quicklaces

The patented Quicklace system compatible with Salomon Footwear and Nordic ski boots enables, fast, easy adjustment of the laces on the fly, ensuring they never untie or have loose ends.

Big Question we get is HOW DO WE PUT THEM ON & RE-LACE.

No Worries....Hugh Comes To The Rescue

What'S up warriors how's, it going ed here with a very special guest you've seen him before mr. Hugh Rickenbacker, now Hugh we're gon na talk to you today about Solomon, but we have a very special treat. We'Re gon na show you folks at home how to update and fix the quick lay system on the sua sponte shoes all right. So a couple of things you're going to need to do this at home, you're gon na need obviously pair of shoes. We have our sua sponte is right. Here, we've got the replacement, quick, lay system, we got a knife. If you want to hold that one up. I prefer going a little big on my knife, but you know size does really matter. We have a torch of some sort, whether you wan na use, matches or a lighter that we have. There is Zippo, you name it. We have a paper clip as a little tool just to help us get the laces through the holes. And then we have our b-boy dance floor over here, aka a piece of cardboard and we'll. Let it go here, heal and every now and then we'll kind of update you as to what he's doing, and I just ask some questions about some and and what's up with everything all right, so stay tuned for the rest of the video here. It goes all right guys have that explained. We'Re gon na replace the laces on this Salomon XA pro mid GTX, the sua sponte version lace kit, I'm gon na pop this bad boy open, save the back to it. It'S got a little picture gram, that's very handy towards the end of this process. This one guy here all right, open this guy up, dump them out. So here's what we got got a couple. Little sprockets here couple clasps a lace feeder and then there should be two laces here now these laces are universal, so they can fit on anything from a ski boot to one of our older x8 pro models to our new speed, cross-balls or anything in between. So with that, these guys have two little loops on there. These are not needed for this particular issue, so we're gon na cut them off step. One would be to delays pretty easy since the laces already broke on this guy. Destroying things is always easy step step. Two, I'm gon na cut these little loops off, because these are not gon na be needed for this installation. Here, real quick question, those those little loops, you need those on different models correct. There are some older models that have a a to clasp down here that you need the loops for this one is a newer version does not need those, I'm thinking the older x rays, red lows have them. That is correct, so guys, if you have that little bottom part down there, the little bottom loop you don't want to cut that loop off of the right in this. You know area right here now, I'm just gon na burn the edges, real, quick, just to make a little bit easier to feed through the grommets. All right, you, you so you'll notice on the little picture that makes her show you, which way this latch faces. Little opening faces, do you want to open any faces the front, yet the larger portion is gon na be towards the top sure sure this way, if you look at it, there's a little Solomon logo on this guy. There you go, you want to make sure you get to song and logo facing out yep. So everybody knows who made those kick-ass kicks. You got on go so we've got our clasp on now got her speedlace clasp on now. For the top part, I need to figure out your links. How much make sure you have office? You can have a lower cut. Shoe you're gon na have a longer longer leash here. These are a high top, so we're gon na cut a little bit off the tail into this, and now we've got two pieces of a clasp here, a male and a female they're gon na funnel through water again now here, would you say that the length of String that you have there at the end is that up to the person as to how long you could keep all of it there, if you wanted to, you, could take it down and now once you've got it through the last through the class you're gon na Tie very small knot in the end of the shoelace. You want to keep the knot as close to the end as you can pull it tight. This class is gon na slide right over that not the same thing with the female end, I'm not close to the ends you can secure down. Now you put your chief class together. There you go now we have a reborn sua sponte from Salomon

Simon Lewis: Two things: after you put the connecting parts onto your two ends after it’s fed through, tie your knots off at the desired length BEFORE you cut it down to length Also use sewing scissors or sharp kitchen scissors not a dorky operator knife

funnyyoushouldask53: Very helpful video couldn’t of figured it out without it thanks!

Jared Pearson: Thanks for this. Dog just got ahold of mine and I hope I can repair them now.

Mrbigolnuts: this is good but you need pliers to make sure the knot is super small!

Jimmy Zulu: Nice vid! I wanted to ask if they could be used on a different boot brand. Thanks.

adrian mihai: would have been nice to put a link in the description

Alex Pirie: I’m twenty minutes in and haven’t managed to feed the first thread through the first channel. The little plastic ‘lace feeder’ just bends immediately and is absolutely no use. Incredibly frustrating. Now I know why normal shoes are still more popular...

Eric Wade: What's the diameter of the quicklaces?

Informed citizen: If I would have known you cant replace the quick lace with traditional laces I would have never bought them. The quick lace system sucks, they constantly loosen up and they break easily. Great boot but terrible laces!

Stuart Henderson: A good question to ask yourself if you are buying footwear is "Will I have to watch a six minute video to learn how to change my laces?"

Haku Kuze: Great shoes, poor shoelace design. One piece of advice is to clear up the holes with a paper clip or something before feeding the new ones through. I just changed to regular laces, thought just using it for hiking.

Tyler clark: if only Salomon could keep their boots in stock

margaret beranek: I have the Solomon SpeedCross3, The little plastic parts for the laces broke after I wore them about 10 times. The channels for the laces are so narrow you can't get new (Solomon) laces through them. Even laces specially designed for this shoe don't work. So basically I wore the shoes 10 times and now need to buy a new pair. Not Solomon though!

Walter Ritchey: Can you just throw away the quick lace system and put in regular boot laces?

Chris Waters: Somehow my easy overhand knot will not allow the caps to snap together. Any suggestions?

Warren Gabriele: Skipped over most important part. How to put slider together!

Der Pruefer: Thank u very much!!! <3

Old Boy Overland: Literally the WORST and most frustrating thing of all time. Congrats, Saloman. Genuinely never buying any of your kit ever again, on principle.

Copeewe: I love the sneakers, but the shoe laces are a nightmare. I have had two pairs, and in both cases the shoe laces have broken. The shoe laces are expensive US$17 plus shipping on Amazon, and then trying to get the laces through those holes is not like what this guy is speeding through. It's hell on Earth, folks. I am not buying anymore of these sneakers, because I can't pop $250 every two months when the laces go bust and the sneaker is intact.

Santos Santos: Now I know why I get a nice pair of saloman sense 6 shoes cheap at goodwill with broken laces....

Trigger Time TV: Hugh is Da Man!

Anna Cataldo: I was pausing video after each step going through needed supplies, as to follow along since this is an instruction video. In the same fashion i continued through the video. He says “these laces can be used for ski boots and tons of styles, but for this style (xa pro), go ahead and cut the loops off the end”....i had same style, xa pro’s, so i paused and cut the loops off. Pressed play, then it goes on to say some older versions of the same style/shoe have a loop down by toe and those styles you do need the loop... FFS you just told me to cut them off!! There goes $9 laces!

Bernard Kida: I cant get the last clasp closed, I had to use tools to get this to work.

Dee R: Didn't show the hardest part of getting laces in clasp.

Ron Fisher: Good vid but the barrel design for clasping the ends together is poor. knots at each end prevent the clasp from engaging. All they had to do was give a little more room inside the female section.. what a pain

JD: Sucks that those boots aren't goretex.

makegoable: $10 shoelaces with plastic parts that wear out and break way before the shoes ever do. Bad system. Had to buy the whole kit for one broken clasp replacement. Just get shoes with normal laces.

Smej Eriam: can't find it in amazon

Sandy Smith: I am at the last step and I cannot get the male and female bits to join. My knots are at the very end of the thread but they will not fit down inside and allow the to pieces to close.

xx mike: Here is a common sense pro tip for you. Tie the knots before you cut the lace than you would use a lighter to melt and fuse the tip ends.

Steve Cope: crap explanation about the hardest part, getting the clip on to the wheel

FelixMantilla: idiots skipped over the part I needed the most.

limodrivermike: can these be bought somewhere? if so, can you point us to it?

valerie brady: Explanations are not thorough and it is difficult to visualize what he is doing as his hand block too much of the visual field.

JB stuff: Nice knife.

Steve Conroy: How do you get the goddamn laces through the fucking holes?

chiapagringa: What a pain in the arse! Just give me a regular lace.

Santos Santos: Rubik's cube of shoe laces.

Hason Hason: Can I communicate with you?

reginarobertkrystyn: You kinda whipped thru the gear shift part like it’s easy

Jim Thompson: That was terrible. Your hands blocked everything.

kobie Allen: Why? Solomon Why? Boots fit great and feel great, there’s no need for the cryptic lace system! Give purchasers the option to use your overly technical unnecessary convoluted lace system or not. Include a pair of normal laces in the box! Using a pen knife, matches should not be required to change laces. Not to mention one needs little hands/fingers to tie tiny knots. Just sell plain places.

Peaches Peaches: Can't see what you're doing whatsoever!

Israel Perea Ortiz: Thats a terrible sistemi prefer de traditional laces.

Chad Angle: Save yourself trouble. Just buy a standard lace shoe. The end.

Blitz: Couldn’t see a fucking thing.
