Diy How To Make A Silk Flower | Silk Hair Flower Tutorial

In this tutorial I'll show you how to make a silk flower that you can use as a Hair flower or to be attached to a headband. NO SEWING!!!

Either way this hair flower looks great. I'm using dupiono silk with this flower but there are actually many different types of material that you can use. If you take a look at some of the other hair flower tutorials that I have on my website: http://untidyartist.com/category/hair-... You'll find others that you can make if you don't happen to have dupioni silk on hand.

There's actually another video that I did called How To Make A Fabric Rose Hair Flower http://untidyartist.com/how-to-make-a-... this is actually a great alternative hair flower that you could check out.

If you have any questions about this tutorial and how I made the flower.... if there is anything in the video that I didn't explain well enough, then please send me a message in the message box. I do my best to reply to ever single message. I usually get back within a day or so. If I get a lot of messages all at once it could take a bit longer but I always get back asap.

Thank you for watching this DIY hair flower tutorial. I hope that you enjoy and I hope to hear from you soon.

Hi welcome to the untidy artist today we're going to make a ruffled silk flower. That requires absolutely no sewing. Let'S get started. I am using 1/2 inch, dupioni, silk, we'll talk later about other types of ribbon and the fabric, but you can actually use for this video. A glue stick, my trusty glue gun set on low a piece of craft belt and some scissors, and I'm going to head to the base of my flower out of the felt I want to cut the base just a little bit smaller than the size. I want the flower to be now route off the edges to create a circle. It doesn't need to be perfect unwind, some of the ribbon from the spool. That way, you don't waste any of the ribbon. By working from this fool cut, then and off into an angle press it down the flew on the outer edge of the felt circle. And then I'm going to press the ribbon onto the felt and what you're going to be doing is essentially creating the ruffle. By pulling the ribbon up and folding it over onto itself in a little bit of an angle, so I use I put down just a little bit of glue at a time and you're going to the ribbon up folded over onto itself and then, with your other Finger just kind of hold the ribbon down, so it holds in place and sets on to the glue. Let'S again, we will get one down folding it up and over and create a matte ruffled look without actually having to so much impatient. So once we have the outer edge done we're going to do another row. The more moves start you just on the the inside edge of the ribbon and we're going to fold it around into a circle once again, just holding it down as we go is why you like, using the lower sitting on my glue gun, because I don't burn Myself, like I would, if it were set on high now, you can use strips of fabric. You can use satin ribbon. You can use grosgrain ribbon any type of ribbon. You like I like the dupioni silk because it does spray on the edges. It gives it a really pretty look, especially if the silk has different colors threads in it. You can see those a lot more and we're going to keep just working our way into the middle of the flower folding over and rumbling as you go and just putting rip little bits of glue and at a times were almost to the center here few more Ruffles and obviously you can make this fuller if you bike by pricing, the roast closer together slip off my end when I'm about to the center, do a couple more ruffles and then, when I have about half an inch to an inch left - and I just put A little bit of glue onto the corner of my ribbon and I'm going to fold it down into the very center, and I just press it with my finger now kind of push it and hide that glue, make sure it's nice and secure. And then you can see as I fray it, it gives it that really pretty much tada a ruffled silk flower. You can put on a headband wirklich check out some of my other videos. Emilie Lefler: Hi Maddy James! The length of the ribbon you need to make this flower depends a lot on how big you want your flower to be and how tightly you gather the ribbon. I use about 80 inches of the silk ribbon on a 2 1/4 inch circle of felt - this gives me a finished flower that measures about 3 inches. I have found it is easiest to just leave your ribbon on the spool instead of cutting it first. Hope this helps! Thank you so much for watching!
