Hi welcome to rear window reflections episode 5, where we are helping to enhance your vintage life, and today we are discussing hair accessories, which is one of my favorite favorite topics. I'Ve got one in right now. This is one of my larger pieces is actually my tallest. In my in my car it really doesn't fit. I actually broke this umbrella this morning. I had to glue it sorry umbrella. That is a palm tree. I made this. I got the party umbrellas and the palm tree at the craft store and I actually made a lot of my hair accessories. I I don't believe that hair accessories always have to be a flower. I actually don't think that they have to always be pretty and classy. That makes any sense. Ah, I always wear a hair accessory when I roll a vintage updo. I think that it adds some razzmatazz and some visual interest, but I like them to be different, so I've gathered a few of my really really different pieces to show you today. I don't think that it's bad to have some classy pieces that have a lot of really pretty flowers that I wear on a daily basis, but I also like pieces that are fanciful and whimsical at the same time. So I like to mix it up. So, let's take a look so we'll start out with some fanciful and then we'll move into the really whimsical and probably kind of weird okay. So first we have just flowers I have. I do have some pretty flowers like I said, and I like to add accent, pieces to my accent pieces. So I have ladybugs and I have pink flamingos, which is my favorite animal. Oh, I love pink flamingos, so I have them in my yard and then this is a pink flamingo that actually goes into your indoor plants. So I glued that into this flower, but it tends to be really really heavy. So I've got a really large duckbill clip on the back, and then I have two bobby pin this into my hair as well. A lot of my flowers tend to be bigger. I am a huge fan of RuPaul's Drag Race and, with those big gigantic, wigs, come really big gigantic hair accessories and those have to be bobby pinned in along with the pin curl clips or duckbill clips that are in the back. So a lot of my pieces have to be pinned in and for security. This has a clip in the back and then it's bobby pin here and it's bobby pin here as well for security, okay, so here's another hair flower that I added more party umbrellas too, because you know it's always time for a cocktail. I got this case of soda in the miniature section at the craft store in the dollhouse section. If that's where I found this palm tree as well, you can find all kinds of really cute things in that section at the craft store and then I also made earrings out of the bottle, so that can be matchy-matchy now we're moving into the wimzie wimzie. Okay, so I have here is one of my bigger pieces. These are Magnolia flowers and then that's a really big bead, so something this large. I will put all the way across the back of one of my updos. It'S pretty big. This takes a multitude of bobby pins in order to stay in Daisy's little bees. I like to wear this one in the front of one of my updos. I also like fun things like fuzzy dice. These are small fuzzy dice that I had that. I didn't really know what to do is because they're too small to hang in my car, but I can really fit them on my keys either. So I attached a hair clip and now I can wear them on my hair, which I totally love, and I just received these as a gift and I absolutely adore them. These are knit flowers and they're super vintage looking and they can go anywhere. They can go in the front, they can go in the back and they're super lightweight and they're adorable. Thank You, Melanie Frost. Okay. Now we move into the odd and different. This is a donut mmm and I got this at the craft store as well, and I totally fall in love with it. Donuts are one of my five favorite foods, which really means 15 favorite foods, and I attached a duckbill clip to the back of this and then actually punctured a hole through this side so that I could slide a bobby pin in so that I could secure this From the other side and I'll actually just wear this in my hair, just like this, it's different, I know, but it's really fun and it's really colorful and it it'll turn it'll turn some heads for sure. It'S it's it's fun. I it's actually one of my favorite pieces, okay, so in keeping with today's theme strawberries, I actually have like a Carmen Miranda Chiquita banana fruit basket. So I also got this at the craft store. So when you, if you were to have like a fruit bowl right, that you keep in the middle of your table like fake fruit, so I have the strawberries, the cherries and the bananas, and I laid it on a piece of black felt and I glued the Pin curl clips on to that and then what I'll do is once it is attached to the like my hair. I always do something this large, probably in the back I'll slide a bobby pin through here and I'll slide. Another bobby pin probably right here, to secure it and I'll wear it just right in the back and then my biggest piece of food basically is hair salad, this one's really really large. Again, I've got two clips in the back and then I'll slide bobby pins. In this piece of lettuce right here, mm he'll slide another bobby pin into this side of the lettuce, and this is another piece that I'll wear like in the back now. You'Ll get some looks, I'm lettuce in your hair, I guarantee, but if you're wearing clothing like this and you're doing your hair like this chances, are you don't care anyway? So it doesn't really matter so when you're, when you're thinking about what you're putting in your hair and that when you're styling your hair, like this. Really it's all about fun and it's about what you like. So if you're wearing lots of things in your hair, like I do and you're feeling like okay, you have flowers, you have smoochie of scars and you really want something fun think about. You know, think about stepping stepping up a little bit and you know trying something. Maybe a little more whimsical and you know because it's all about entertaining yourself right and, if you're not interested in what you're looking at when you're looking in the mirror, it's gon na turn into a snoozefest really really quick. So, thank you so much for joining us here on rear window reflections where we are helping. You enhance your vintage life. Please stay tuned for more vintage tips.
