4 Easy Ways To Use A French Pin

FOLLOW ME ON INSTAGRAM http://www.instagram.com/alexgaboury

I am so excited for today's hair tutorial because I'll be showing you how to create some truly easy french pin hairstyles that are absolutely stunning. As soon as I saw these Hair Forks I knew I wanted to share different ways to use them, especially after I read comments from women saying that these saved them so much time, how simple they were to use, and that they found them to be more gentle on their hair compared to elastics.

The first hairstyle is a simple yet chic french pin bun, where I show exactly how to use a French pin to ensure your hairstyle lasts all day. The second is a half-up half-down undone donut bun, and the gold detail of the hair fork really makes it pop. Third is a beautiful half-up knotted hairstyle which acts as the base for the fourth hairstyle. Finally an easy updo created by simple knots in the hair, and secured with the hair forks, this hairstyle is so beautiful and will be perfect for any special occasion this spring and summer.

I hope you find this french pin hair tutorial helpful and hopefully it can provide you some hair inspiration going into the spring. I'll link the Kristin Ess French Pins below, I am wearing the rose gold set, but they also come in black and gold.

Also, have you tried any of Kristin Ess' products? What were your thoughts? Let me know if there’s anything you recommend that I should try next!

Comment down below which hairstyle is your favourite, 1,2,3 or 4? ☺️

Hello, everyone welcome back. I am so excited for today's video, because I'm gon na be showing you how to use these beautiful hair Forks and how to create some truly stunning hairstyles with them. So these ones are from Kristin s and as soon as I saw these, I just knew. I had to get my hands on them, especially after reading comments from women saying how simple these were to use, how much times you saved them and how much more gentle these were on their hair compared to hair elastics. So I thought this video would be a very helpful. I'M super excited to share. I will link these down below if you want to check them out, they're available at Target and yeah. Let'S just get started: okay really quickly for a hair prep. You don't need to do anything to your hair. You can even leave it wet when you do these hairstyles and you'll be left with really soft loose waves, which is amazing, but I did go ahead and curl my hair with a one and a half inch barrel just really loosely and I'm going to go ahead And add some texture spray, it just helps the hairstyles hold a little bit better but again not necessary and I've been loving this one from bumble and bumble. It'S this invisible oil, soft texture spray, it smells really great and it just gives your hair. Like a nice soft toss filled, look a little bit goes a long way, and it also gives like a really nice shine into the hair, but I will link some other favorite to texture sprays of mine down below as well. Okay, I'm going to turn around and let's do some hairstyles. Okay first step is a simple donut bun, but it looks so chic and I'll show you how to use the hair fork before we jump into the other hairstyles. So also you could always recreate these hairstyles with bobby pins so begin by gathering all of your hair, where you want your bun to sit, and then I like to pull out small pieces along my hairline just to frame my face. Next hold your hair into a ponytail with your left hand and then, with your right hand, grab your ponytail at the base and begin tightly twisting it clockwise about two to three times and then, as you twist begin tightly wrapping your twist clockwise to form the bun And if your hair is longer just continue twisting and wrapping until you've reached your ends and then just tuck them underneath now quick tip the you twist, the less likely your layers are to pop out all right. Hold your bun tightly against your head. With your left hand and it's time to insert the hair fork, okay, so this particular hair fork has a curve so that it fits snug against your head. So when you're, inserting it, you want the curved side to face towards the left so that when we flip the hair fork, it curves with your head. Okay, push the ends of the hair fork through the right edge of your bun on a bit of an angle. Until they pop through to the right and then wherever your ends come out, this is where the top of the hair fork will end up. Okay, push them against your head as you bring the hair fork across the back of your head and once you've brought the hair work. Almost all the way across just begin pushing it through against the back of your head and out the other side once it's through. It should feel very secure and comfortable. So now you can loosen up the bun a bit and pull in some small pieces to add some volume. I love this hairstyle, it's so simple, yet chic and it's perfect for everything from work to special events. Okay, now that we can use the hair fork, let's move on so next is a beautiful undone, donut bun so begin by gathering all of the hair. Just below your temples, and personally, I like to leave enough hair down to cover my ears for more of a casual look and some pieces to frame my face but feel free to scoop it all up similar to the last one hold all the gathered hair into A ponytail with your left hand and grab the base with your right hand and then begin tightly twisting your hair clockwise about two to three times and then begin wrapping it clockwise around itself. The only one time next grab, your French pin, it's very to say and insert the ends through the right edge of the bun, and you want them to go over your ends that are hanging out and then push the fork against your head. Flip it over and push it towards the center all the way through your bun. Until the ends come out the other side and again it should feel very secure. So, if not, you can pull it out slightly and try pushing it through again until it does, then you already know pinch and pull on small pieces of your bun and at the crown of your head to add some more volume. Okay, I love this hairstyle. It'S so easy and pretty, and how beautiful is the detail that that hair fork adds? I love it next, it's another half up hairstyle and this will act as the base for our next hairstyle so begin by gathering all of the hair. Just below your temples and again I like to leave enough hair down to cover my ears and some pieces to frame my face. But you do you feel free to make it nice and sleek if you like, and if it needs it to smooth down the top. With a comb and how cute is this one from Kristin s? I love it. Okay, now for the not-so hold all the gathered hair with your left hand and then bring your ends up the right side and over the top, and this will create a small loop around your left hand. Now you want to put your index finger and thumb on your right hand, all the way, through this loop and out the other side and then grab on to all of your ends, and then you want to pull them all the way through now. This might sound complicated, but all I did here was tie my hair into a knot, so pull it nice and tight and play around with the shape fan it out to make some more volume and then we can secure it with our hair fork so enter your Hair fork just the right of the center pushing your ends out the right side of your knot and then once they're through push them against your head flip the hair fork across and then slide it against your head. Through the knot and out the other side, I'm gon na keep saying this, but I love this hairstyle too. It'S so pretty and effortless, and I just love the pop of gold from that hair fork time for the knotted up do this is so perfect for spring and summer, so using the previous hairstyle as a base gather all the remaining hair into a low ponytail, including The ends from the previous knot now, if your ends are too short, you can just bobby pin them out of the way, and then you already know I'm all about those tousled pieces at the neckline. Lately, okay same as before, we're going to make another knot, so hold your ponytails your left hand and bring your ends up the right side and over the top, then put your index finger and thumb on your right hand, through this loop out the other side and Grab on to your ends and pull them all the way through and then wrap your ends, counterclockwise around your bun and just tuck them out of the way now hold this second knot tightly against your head, grab your hair fork and just insert it to the right Of the middle so that the ends come out that right side then push them against your head. As you bring the hair fork across to the right and push it in. So it slides against your head three or not and out the other side, and I'm going to quickly curl that neck framing piece from earlier and there we have it. I think this hairstyle is so unique and beautiful and I think it'd be perfect for anything from work to a special occasion, so there we have it now. I think that this might just be one of my favorite hair tutorials that I've ever done. I just love these hair, Forks, they're, so beautiful so simple to use and they really just help to elevate basically any hairstyle. But I'd love to know what you thought in the comments down below, and I have so many ideas for these hair Forks. So let me know if you like to see another tutorial. As always, I will post pictures of the final looks over on my Instagram, so I'll link that down below. If you want to check it out and yeah, I really hope that you liked today's video. Please give it a thumbs up if you did, helps me out a ton and yeah thanks again for watching. I will talk to you next time. Back

Joonha Shcal: This is so much more comfortable than other methods I have used. I am new to this whole styling of the hair since I'm a guy who recently grew out his hair. There is so much to do and see! Thank you for this tutorial!

Sarah C: Hair forks, U-Pins and hairsticks are the way to go. Much more gentle on my fine hair and actually holds my hair in place better than a ponytail elastic.

Denise Burnside: All three are stunning styles, but the last one; the double knot, is extremely beautiful. I could see that on a bride on her wedding day, in the spring or summer. Those French clips are so unique. This is the first time I have seen them. Thank you, Alex, for doing this hair tutorial. ❤️

Lisell: These are so cute! I totally have some french pins that I never use because I wasn't really sure how to! How perfect is this

Realeen Portillo: You inspired me to purchase these and I love them!! I work in food and have to wear my hair up everyday and these seem so much less damaging than elastics. I was a little skeptical because my hair is super thick and long (reaches my lower back) but 1 pin feels super secure in my hair! For the lefties out there I found it easier to bring it in on the left side rather the right. So cute! Love your videos

Sarah Ashley: Thank you so much for this tutorial! I lost my hair fork and I’m in the market for some new ones! I’ve always just create a simple bun with them thanks for the inspo cant wait to try out these hairstyles

Hunter King: Love! I got these a few weeks ago and I’ve been looking for more ways to use them; I can’t wait to give these looks a try I hope you do another video like this, I’d love to see your other ideas!

Paige Oldham: I love the bun! It’s gorgeous. Beautiful hairstyles, Alex:)

Samantha K: How pretty! I would love to see more styles using the French pins! ✨

Alex Gaboury: This might just be one of my favourite hair tutorials ever, I hope you enjoy!

rosie: Thank you so much for this tutorial! Your explanation was so easy to understand! I had one lying around for ages because I didn't know what to do with it. Yes to another tutorial!

The Creative Mommy: Hopefully I can grow my hair out in order to do these lol I love that fork. Keep up your great videos girl.❤

Katie O: I'm obsessed with these styles, omg. I need to get my hands on a hair fork so I can recreate them! Perfect for spring and work!

Elizabeth Yates: Sooo beautiful!!! Cant wait to see more! Yes on another tutorial

Florence Pierce: Thank you so much for info on not only a product I hadn't heard of, but 4 new & beautiful, soft, romantic styles that will look ethereal & still last all day! - Also, I am seriously loving the slight Japanese/space-age sleeve!

Fiona Fornarina: Hi, when you make these cinnamon buns, you should not only insert the hair fork on one side of it, but also make sure that the tips grab some hair from the other side of the bun, before they come out finally. Then it will be more stable. Especially in your first cinnamon bun, one can see clearly, how the outer round of the bun goes a bit off the head on the left side.

Sandra Sedivy: This is probably my favorite, too! I love using hair accessories and can’t wait to try these hair forks.

Kristina Bertrand: Beautiful hairstyles with the French pin love them all and love to see more Alex!!!❤️

Arushi Verma: Alex you are amazing! I love your hair styles and this tutorial was extremely helpful. Thanks so much ♥️

Bianca Rodrigues: Hi Alex! I love your videos! Can you please make more videos using these hair forks? Thank you! I am learning so much from your videos, having so much fun with my hair

Yasmin M: Just the distraction one needs right now! OMG the last one!! Beautiful, thanks Alex

Valerie Harris: I'm ditching elastic hair ties because they are awful for my fine hair. This tutorial is going to be helpful for my hair fork/pin journey

Michelle McLaren: I had the hair pins come with her pillow case that I got around Christmastime and I couldn’t figure out how to use them!!!! Thank you for this!!!!

Barbara H-P: I have super silky, slippery hair, and this even holds my hair. Thanks for the video!

Tracy C.: Beautiful hair and great tutorial!

Chantel Love: You hair looks beautiful. If only my hair would do this as effortly lol x

Rita Finney: I usually like one style more than another but I love all the ideas in this tutorial.

Blue Hydrangea: Reminds me of my grandmother’s using hairpins to pin up their very long hair into buns. This was the 1960s. My husband’s grandmother was still pinning her long hair up in the 1990s. She was much younger than my grandmothers. I’m definitely going out to buy some hairpins.

Caroline Pagette: Thank you so much for this video! I have thick hair and so have always been lazy when it comes to hair styles, but when I saw these pins at the store I got curious. I haven’t found any other videos out there showing how to use these and am so grateful! For the first time in my life I am able to put all of my thick hair up into a bun without a painful and annoying, not to mention bulky, hair clip.

Trish Pipkins: Wow! These give such a classic yet refreshing look! And bonus! They'll work with my crazy, curly hair! I am a sucker for the rose gold, too. Also I am attempting a Target run tomorrow morning. Wish me luck. I need toilet paper and everyone has been fighting over it at all the stores here. The world has gone mad! ‍♀️ But now I can also look for these hair forks. So I am actually looking forward to that part.

Nora K: Thank you so much! I've been looking for a video like yours that explains the setting of the hair fork instead of just nonchalantly putting it in haha

DuskyDancing: I love my mom to pieces, but she's not the super feminine type and never really taught me how to do my hair. These videos are a godsend for women like me who are late bloomers when it comes to hair styling. Thank you!!

Anie Pluto: I have short hair (for hair sticks or forks), but the first bun works great!

Penney Burgess: I have one French hairpin. I need to get another for the double knot bun. So elegant! Thank you!

coldundertow: Loving this! Going to Target soon to get the hair pin! Do you have any cheaper alternative/drug store brand to the texturing sprays you recommend?

Ann: Best directions for anything I’ve ever seen, thank you and your hair is beautiful!
