I need to do a video, but uh, I'm lazy. So let me just let me just sit down here. What'S up guys david here and today i have a video that many of you have been asking me for a long time. So here it is, i'm gon na be talking about plastic guards, plastic guards and metal guards. So these are the cards that I use for the most part for all my haircuts right. So I'm going to show you guys they're pretty much kind of the same thing. So from the detachable I have almost all of them, I don't need all of them, so that's what I'll have them all, but I have this three two and a half to one and a half one, a quarter one and this one's over here up to your Side can you raise the skin line, so this will be a little shorter than a 1. This will be, which will be kind of like a 3/4. This is a half. This is a little bit closer than a half. This is a machine old with the leather. All the way close - and this will be like the trimmer ok, so I'm gon na show you guys right now. What I mean with that this right here and is the Andes masters right, if you guys can see, has the little the little notches on the side. So when you close it, you kind of know exactly, you know how much you're closing and it makes it easier to erase the skin line right. So I'm going to show you the attachable is what I mean with this. So this is the one right. So I will say that one will be here right, pretty much. Ok, so then this will be the one notch closer. Then this one will be half okay. This one will be here. This one will be here all the way close right, and this one will be. The same as the trimmer, so if you have a trimmer, you know regular trimming late this one. This one will be kind of like kind of like the same pretty much. If you want to raise the skin line, you know you're starting to here, so you already have a one. So you will do this. All this, for will be like closing the match. Little by little see many of you will be saying: oh, but that's very hard to have to change the blades and this and that, but the truth is that it's not really harder. It'S actually pretty quick. I do it pretty quick that some people can just move the lever and you raise the line honestly. What I do I just kind of like do the same with this. Ok, now that I show you guys how to raise the line with the detachable the skin line, then I think it's easier to understand the other one. How said this is a three: this is a two and a half to one and a half one and a quarter, and I want right so pretty much. This is a three and this is a tree. This is a tree. This is a tree, and this is a three right. The difference between this are just I mean they're, pretty much almost the same length. The only difference is that, for example like this one, it doesn't have a lever right, so it cuts what it cuts and that's it. That'S the lane that he cuts, which is exactly nine point. Five millimeters right this one in this one. The problem is that this one's our use of machines that have levers, so I do open and close the lever that the land is gon na change right also depends on the type of blade, some blades. How we talk about this either surgical blades cut closer, so they're gon na cut closer and some blades cut longer. So that's what it makes it a little different for this too, when you use them, because they might not be the same from everybody right. This one will always be the same. If you don't just you know, move it. The way it comes from is type to me. That'S it. This one's are different, so my recommendation for everybody is to stick. If you are new to this and you just learn, it stick with one type of guards, and that's it you wouldn't. You won't have problems when you stick with one type of guard, so you can do all your fades, for example with this, but you can do all your face with this ones or what i do. I do all my face with this ones. One is not better than the other is really not they're all the same. So, for example, here we have a eight seven, six, five, four three, two one and a half one and a half okay, and this one's for example. I don't have all of them, because i don't really use them, but i have a four three two one zero and these doesn't make one and a half. You know they don't make it because Yuri don't need it. If you look at the way this his guards, are they like a little like a little round here? So what you do pretty much is that you kind of scoop the hair out, so you really don't need it. Okay with the walls, you might need them just because they're a little more flat how you can see they're flat, so it's easier to make lines. So that's why that they have like a wine. I have Anna and I now in a zero level. 1/2. So you can actually erase those lines that you you leave there with this one's. It could be kinda the same. You know that you have all these metal detachable in between each other. Some people need them. Some people, don't like there's a lot of them. I don't have just because I don't need them, so what I do is like, I use the corners the corners of the world blade, so I can actually, you know, erase the lines I need to erase another question that I get asked allies about this blade, which Is the one a the one is actually like a 1 and a quarter to say like that? If you want to say like that, but it's really not what it really is is say it's, for example. This is the one. This is the wall. The wall number one so pretty much. What it is is, if you put the one in your machine and you and you have the lever open. So you have the lever on this position. That'S really what it is to be honest with you, that's pretty much. What it is is that kind of the same length of this machine with the lever open with a number one. So pretty much. This case will be this one. This one will help me to erase the one and the one and a half so this this one falls behind there between this two okay for everybody that keeps me asking me what that one is: that's pretty much what it is. If you don't have the touchable, it will be this one. So we pretty much is any guard that helps you erase the line between the one and the two. Many of you always ask me why I prefer, having detachable blades, why I love cutting with the stretchable blades and honestly, there's no really a reason for it. I just kind of like them. You know like, I feel they have more power, but doesn't mean that my fate or my haircuts are gon na look, because if I tell you that doesn't lie it's really not because of that is just honestly, it's personal preference. I used to cut with the austere. 76 before - and I just love that machine II just felt like he has so much power and that's why I kind of started using them, and I kind of like that. I feel like they're quicker, I mean yeah, you guys switch the blades, but I feel, like I don't know, they're quicker for me for me to fail. So all I do with this video is explain to you guys a little bit the difference between them. Look: the plastic cars there's, not a lot of them. The difference is they're pretty much the same. I mean you got to understand that the machine is not really gon na. Make you better yeah, I mean a better machine, might help you but doesn't mean they're gon na make you a better barber. Okay, these are tools. These are tools that we use to make our lives easier in to you know, do our haircuts do a better job? Doing our haircuts, that's what I'm trying to say so treat this as they are. You know, like many of you asked me, what's the best machine, why you do this? Why do you do it with a machine now with this machine? Honestly, it's just personal preference. This barbers out there that only cob with walls, some people only cut with Oscar or Indies or jae-il arts, and, and you know, order or detachable they all do a great job. So it doesn't matter the machine doesn't matter the tools it matters. Is that what you like, when you feel comfortable using and how you use those tools, I'm gon na continue doing a lot of my different videos, doing different machines and do different cars just in kids that you're one of the people. That only has walls - and you see me doing a video wars, then you're gon na be happy because you're gon na feel like a little more comfortable, because that's what machine you use but then somebody else might be using only Andy. So I want to do a video for them as well or people that only use the touchable, so I wanna make sure that you know everybody's learning and everybody is actually getting something out of these videos that I do so that's the video guys. I want to really hear what you guys had to say about the video. It is anything else you want me to elaborate. Please let me know please comment below and also don't forget to subscribe, if you haven't already that help the channel grow. Laszlo Horvath: I just wanted to let you know how I deeply appreciate your educational videos. Your talents exude the professionalism that our industry strives to instill into our colleagues and our customers. Your approach to education and passion to HELP others in this industry is so amazing to watch on your channels as opposed to just showing off your skills. Thank you again for your contagious enthusiasm and passion for barbering!

Heather Barbour Stonebarger: Thank you. L9ve your videos man. I use the oster 76 with metal blades and my haircuts always turn out better with them! They are extra powerful so I can get the job done

Heidi Mendez: Hi David! I just bumped into your videos and they are very educational!! I started Cosmetology a little over a year ago but clippers seemed to be my strength when we got to learning how to cut hair! Since I wasn't in a barber school, I learned as much as I could by videos or by actually going to barbershops and asking barbers. I even ended up cutting my hair! I would get any type of fade just to experience what my clients would be expecting from me.... now. My biggest question has been, the "blueprint" of a haircut. I know it varies from person to person. But I'd like to see a video with different kinds of fades and you explaining and educating on proper angles to a cut. Pretty much how to make a "blueprint" of lines/angles. I hope I'm explaining myself correctly!

I-Money G: The 3 1/2 detachable blade is equivalent to your 3 guard closed, the 2 3/4 detachable blade is equivalent to your 2 guard open so it's a 2 1/2, the 2 detachable blade is equivalent to your 2 guard closed, the 1 3/4 detachable blade is equivalent to your 1 1/2 guard closed or the 1 guard open, the 1 1/2 detachable blade is equivalent to your 1 guard halfway open so it's a 1 1/4, the 1A detachable blade is equivalent to your 1 guard closed, the 1 1/4 detachable blade is equivalent to your 0 guard halfway open so it's 3/4, the 1 detachable blade is equivalent to your clippers all the open so it's a 1/2 and it's basically the same thing as your 0 guard closed, the 0A detachable blade is equivalent to your clippers halfway open so it's a 1/4, the 000 detachable blade is equivalent to your clippers all the way closed so it's a 0, the 00000 detachable blade is equivalent to your trimmers

Fidel: Can you do a video explaining when to go straight up, when to flick out, and when to use the corner of your clipper to blend. Thanks

Joe Perea: Thank you for your explanation on this, very informative. I appreciate your honesty as well.

Non None: I am confused by which part of the guard to use. I just started using a trimmer, specifically the brio beardscape. Do i use the front of the guard where it sticks out from the trimmer or the bottom of the guard? I have a feeling i use the front of the guard to get the legnth and not the bottom otherwise guards would be designed to be more vertical then horizontal

Ryan Blessed: I just feel like having guards and the level is more easier to blend; I’ve never used detachable guards mostly because the numbers confuse me for example like 00000, 1A, 1AA ect.

Isshman Garcia: Blades are 1000% the better way to go. I started off w Oster 76 and never looked back. Cuts come out smoother and faster. Time is money!

Jonathan Palacio: Very helpful man.. love your videos. I appreciate you're work!

Blake P: Great video with valuable information that's easy to follow. Thanks David!

Michael R: Thank you for this explanation!! You are the man!

Mutakabbir: I love fading with detachable clippers it's good to see a Barber on YouTube that use detachable for fading

Margot Amaro: YOU HAVE A NICE EXPLANATION OF EACH COMB, BUT YOU NEED TO DO A VIDEO HOW TO USE EACH ONE. THANKS

Antionne Martin: Thanks for the reply. I really appreciate it. I will try on my next cuts. I have been cutting my kids hair and a few of their friends. Thank you again.

jimareas: Nice video thanks Just got the Oster 97 recently. Does the Andis magnetic fit on the Oster blades ? I have the #0000 that the clipper came with. I'm asking cos I'm trying to find attachment combs to fit and I read somewhere that most of Andis attachments fit the Oster 76/97. Any advice would help thanks.

Samuel: my favorite detachable is the 1 3/4...a little shorter than the 2 on top looks great.

Antionne Martin: How do I get the bald line out?? I’m having trouble doing that. I am I suppose to be on the line and flick out or right under, and going up to the line n out? Really appreciate your videos? Very helpful.

O Guerra: Thank you for the explanation bro. I have a question, the andis guards may be used with others clippers?. Greetings from Venezuela.

LivelubandgetFaded Xo: You don't find the detachables to give you a cleaner cut? I love starting with detachables I feel they give a great foundation.

Margot Amaro: WHAT I NEED TO KNOW IS WHAT SECTION O PART OF THE HAIR WHAT CLIPPER TO USE, POR EXAMPLE TO THE BACK, THE MIDDLE AND THE TOP. THANK YOU WAITING FOR YOUR ANSWER.

*WJ*: Hi! Can use wahl guards on oster fast feed ?

Anthony Sanchez: i Have trouble knowing when and where to use my guards. any tips ?!

M P: I am new and am trying to cut my own hair. What is the difference between blades and guards? Like do I need to keep changing the blades every time I am trying to fade? Which I think would seem a bit excessive. What blades do I need to get if I have a 1/4 000 on my Oster classic 76? Can I use that blade and just change the guards? I'm confused.

Charlie MMAFAN: Instead of saying the numbers you should say the lengths like 1 inch or 25 mm or whatever that way people know how long each hair guards is.

Max Nguyen: Can someone help me? My andis guards gets scratched by my clipper blade on my cordless master when I close it all the way. Any suggestions?

Will MacBas: The Wahl guards fit in the andis master?

Diego Arreguin: Hey david Can you fit wahl or andis gaurds on a detachable blade ?

jorshua salazar: Sube lo en Español por favor te lo pido amigo, soy fan tuyo veo tus vídeos te amigo en Instagram y Face y en la página en Español, soy de Costa Rica pura vida

Infamous: In my opinion detachable give a quicker, cleaner cut, great for debulking.

OSCAR: i bought a grooming kit and got a clipper and a trimmer both with 6mm and 9mm guards. i tought i would get 4 different lengths but i didnt?

Oliver Kelly: On Wahl guards, is a 1 guard fully open shorter than a 1.5 guard fully closed, or are they the same length?

Frank 5.7: Is the 1/2 on the wahl clipper the same on the 0 andis clipper??

Pete Soebekti: hey david the blades are in the black tray bro :)

charmi patel: Can you make video how to blend no 3 guards sides and back

Jarpsyy: What guards are good for oster fast feed besides magnetic

Kris Reed: Yes thank you for the video!!

Sal barber: Adding a magnetic guards would that be considered open or have way

KENNETH TAM: does the brand or price of the guards matter

Juventino Benitez: Can you use the purple andis guards for wahl?

cOrRie813BeArDeD: Is there a black premium wahl Zero guard

Kernal Sander: Great video

Kenneth Pollard (Ken): Is guards, combs, guides all the same thing ?

redsox789: so 0.5 guard closed lever is the same as no guard with lever opened correct?

Alexander Sandino: At 5:51 when you talk about the 1A (1.25) you say for wahl it’s like a 1 with the lever all the way open ? Wouldn’t all the way open equal to the 1 1/2 guard (1.5) ? Isn’t it more like half way open to create the 1A (1.25) instead ?

Sida Amirouche: Does andis magmatic guard feet any whal clippers ?

jay chery: I wanna start cutting my own hair but idk where to start or what to buy

Alan DaBarber: para mi la 1a es una 1 cerrada , no es con la palanca abierta , tengo videos haciendo desvanecidos con detachables and i use 2 , 1 1/2 , and then the 1a

Ruel: Good vid bro. You said it; preference.

Cash Money: Is the 3 qtr all the way open

venice bnp: most of the hair clipper comes with 3,6,9,12 size adjusting comb. so plz show me with that clipper how am i going to cut my hair size 2 and size 1?

GonzoDaBarber: im confused with wahl system the 1/6 is a half or zero

Christian 7o2: Do you know how to clean your guards?

Carlos Simmons SDS 8: #10 grooming that's on the blade it self?

Brook Y. Mesfin: can you do red speed o guides

Mulan: Confusing video. They should just show each guard, how it cuts, how much it cuts. Saying all the numbers and pointing out the guards doesn't really help.
