Hey Loves: What's up, it's Toya. Welcome to my channel.. If you're new, I post videos every single Thursday., But for the month of February I'm posting a video every Monday and Thursday. So make sure that you subscribe and hit the notification bell. Before we get started. I want to thank everyone for watching my `` Get Ready With Me'' Video.'' The Earliest Valentine's Day. I can remember, I was in middle school.''''. I had a crush on a boy named Shawn.''''. I remember carefully crating my six word sentence. ...'''' On one of those Valentine's Day cards you give out in a classroom full of people.''. It was such a pleasure reading all of your comments. If you missed that video, I'm gon na post a link to it down below.. So in today's video we're talking about how to grow your 4c hair faster., Also known as retaining length., I have 4c hair.. I have big chopped two times.. This is my second time. And I have about a year and 7 months, growth right now., Maybe 8 months A year and 7 months I think. And I'm gon na show you a clip right: here., Tip number one. Cleansing your hair, weekly or biweekly.. You really want to pay attention to your hair and what it needs. I typically wash my hair biweekly., Because I need those natural oils.. I need the oils that I put on top of my hair., Typically coconut oil to last for a long time., And also It helps with not manipulating my hair on a consistent basis-all, the time., So biweekly really works for me.. Now I don't subscribe to the myth that dirty hair grows. Faster., That's not true.! You don't need all that gunk. All that product buildup on your scalp.. It will block your follicles and inhibit them from growing to it's full potential.. Now, hair typically grows about ... an half an inch.. Sometimes people are lucky and get more, but about a half an inch, a month.. So if you really want to retain that length and keep a heathy scalp, Then you definitely want to make sure you are cleansing. Your hair on a regular basis. Number 2. - I know as boring and predictable as that is. It is so true. The cells in your body, --. In order for your body to be healthy, You have to feed it healthy things.. That means lots of water. Fruits and veggies of course.. You guys know I'm on a fitness journey and You know what I've been drinking a lot more water and I've noticed that my hair has grown exponentially.. You know what Umm You guys are probably hearing some things in the background. That'S my dog.. Sorry Exercise Not only stimulates your body and helps you feel good with the endorphins and everything, but it helps pump your blood., Which in turn circulates nutrients throughout your body. And your hair needs those nutrients.. So the more you can get moving. Get your blood pumping .... The more nutrients your hair is gon na get and the better it will grow. And the nutrients will be good nutrients because you're eating healthy. Side note.. I know a lot of sweating in the gym can be. You know disgusting, because I know I sweat a lot. *Laugh*, It really is good for you because it helps flush out all those toxins.. So you want all those toxins and the buildup from your scalp to just get out. Stay out. Go somewhere. Aye when you're washing your hair. Every week it will. Number 3.. This is essential., Especially if you have type 4 hair. In general. Curly, hair in general., Kinky hair in general.. You need to moisturize and seal, because our hair pattern Is not a straight one.. It'S curly., So the natural sebum that comes out of our scalp gets trapped., Which is why we tend to get a lot of buildup., Which is why we tend to get a lot of dandruff.. It gets trapped at the base of the hair follicle At the base of the strand., So we have to manually put moisturizer on our hair to lock in that water and what's the number one moisturizer water., So we put out leave in conditioner our styling creams. On top of damp hair is the best honestly.. Then we want to put an oil on top of those products to help lock in the products, the water, the moisture and also keep our hair pliable.. So I think of hair kind of like bread.. If you have a dry piece of bread and you manipulate that bread, It's going to break and crack., So our hair is the same way.. If we keep it moisturized when we are styling out hair, When we are manipulating our hair, it's less likely to break. Tip number 4. Detangle and stretch your hair. Alright.. So I'm not saying that if you love your natural texture, not to wear your natural texture.. But what I am saying is that, if you're not going to detangle and stretch your hair, you hair is more liable to get knotting and what knotting and tangles cause is breakage., especially when you are trying to manipulate your hair When you're doing your twist-outs, your bantu Knot-Outs, your braid-outs., If you have a lot of knots in your hair, It's going to break.. So what I like to do is stretch my hair on a regular basis. And I typically only detangle my hair using my fingers now. In the past. I'Ve used wide tooth combs. If you like combs, definitely use a wide tooth comb., but fingers. What I like about using my fingers is that when I'm going through the hair, I can feel I f. There is going to be any resistance to me. Detangling my hair. Combing, my hair with my fingers, which then kind of gives me a cue that I need to slow down. Stop. Pick it apart, -- Whatever it is that I need to do., But that's gon na cause a lot less breakage.. Last but not least, Number 5. Protect your hair. Now this is really important. In certain climates, where it's really cold and the air can make your hair really brittle. Or hot climates, where the sun can dry, it out. Putting a scarf on your head or a hat. Really, keeping it protected is going to help with a lot less breakage.. Also at night. You really want to make sure you're putting on your satin scarves and your bonnets, because it's going to prevent the transfer of all of those oils onto your pillow.. All of the hard work that you've done to sort of lock in that moisture will be lost if you don't protect your hair at night. And also wearing protective hairstyles.. A protective hairstyle is when your ends are tucked away or covered up in some way shape or form.. This is why a lot of braided styles are so popular., especially with braided weaves and things like that. You're braiding, your hair You're, protecting your hair within that braid. And then, if your were to tuck your hair or wear updos, and things like that, Your ends are Protected. Our ends are the most fragile part of our hair. They're, not new young and bouncy. Like the new hair growing from your scalp They're older, you know They're a lot more dried out. Maybe the sun had been exposed on it. Or --. Maybe your hair has been exposed to the sun., So you really want to take care and make sure from time to time you are protecting those ends.. So that's it! Those are my top five tips. Make sure you subscribe down below. If you like, these kind of videos. Subscribe hit the notification bell. And I will see you guys on Thursday

Kitty wuvscissors: I also have 4c hair and I realized it do not need all those expensive black hair products like shea moisture and like 20 oils. That was doing nothing for my hair. I went back to childhood products my momma used like pink hair lotion, hair mayonnaise, and that beauty supply grease lol. My hair is so long now. Momma knows best ❤

sosnames: Wow! You retained a lot oft lenght in under 2 years! I love how confi you are with your hair now!

Everything Health with Tamika: Great advice! After 10 years of being natural, I’ve finally figured out everything you just mention I’m 3 weeks in and looking forward to seeing the hair growth!

Rethabile Molapo: I'm on my journey to grow my hair for the first time ever. I am certain that my hair will grow a lot better this time around.

Ali: All that 4c hair lusciousness

Hitman Killers: I’m a African American male with type 4C hair Thank you I got my Afro back and it’s more healthy than recent years.

3TLOVER: One of these days when you have time, can you do a week in my natural hair video where you're showing how you transition from style to style throughout the week :) also how often do you use heat to stretch hair?

Taura Helms: I think diet plays a big role. I have just signed up with a personal trailer to lose 25-30 pounds. Also, I am working up to a goal of a gallon of water a day. I think the amount of water taken into the body is also key.

SpookieLips FatHips: Girl I dont knw about the dirt growing my hair but when I leave my hair alone washing and styling like once a month I got the most growth in all my life in the past 2 years .

LaLabutterfly: Toyaaa! Girl. I'm totally loving your 2nd BC glow!! Please please post a tutorial on this makeup look

V H: when you finger detangle, how long does that usually take & do you do that through each step (finger detangle while prepooing, while shampoo/conditioning/while deep conditioning/before styling)...it just seems so tedious & I don't want to make more tangles during all those processes

Dina Muehombo: Weird fact, I used to relax my hair when I was a teenager and it grew very well now I’ve been natural for 3 years and it dolents seem to grow longer at a certain point.

Ashley Bree: Thank you for the tips! I was wondering ,I texturized my 4c hair around October 2017 .I decided to keep my hair out but my hair is quite dry and shreds a lot .Would you recommend the big  chop??I want my natural 4c back!

Jasmine Burns: I am just about to start my natural hair journey and this has been really helpful

bev: This is soooooo helpful I have 4c hair this helped so much thx girl

Self Care Hub: My 4c hairstyles don't last. Please make a video on how to make your 4c hairstyles last. I'll do a twist out in the morning and at the end of the day its a fro.

Karen Goodwill: I like the 4C video. This is the first time watching. I have corse hair which is very dry often so I find my putting Jamaican Black Castor Oil in my hair often to protect as well as aide to the growth. I've transitioned from relaxed hair to all natural it's been two years. I've cut my hair down and it has grown out but it's not as long as I would hope and would like it to be. The front of my hair is shorter than it's every been. I've tried crochet braids which for the most part has helped but again the front of my hair delicate and can't take the stress. Im in the gym five days per week and all I drink is water, I don't eat red meat just fish and chicken. Healthy diet and life style is a positive assistance to growing healthy hair. With everything I just said I'm also wondering if there is anything else I can do to assist in growing my hair longer especially the front of my head. I hope to hear from you soon. Keeping Hopeful

JnD Lewis: I know I may be late, because I have just subscribed to your channel, but you look so much like Tia Mowry and Essence Atkins. You and Essence have the same smile. So uncanny. Oh btw----this is a compliment. You're very beautiful.

Yolanda Foster: Your comments and advice is so helpful . Thank you

Seun: What about spraying water followed by hair& scalp conditioner (like Blue Magic)?

TheOliviab1: Great tips and AMAZING HAIR GROWTH!

Precious Byrd: Its true 4c hair can grow. My hair is just an inch and a half shorter than yours! I did a length check after having my braids in for a month and 2 weeks. I got a little emotional because it is my goal to grow out my hair to upper back/collar bone length. I am trying to do more styles with my hair combining braiding and twisting. Its a little difficult being in Japan.

Aishat Kolawole: As soon as I became Vegetarian I finally noticed my hair started to grow!!!

* BADVALENTINE: What if we have our hair twisted and dont want to ruin the locking process?

IMSOABBI: I think we should find what works best for our own hair not regarding to the labels of 4c or 4b hair etc.. , I don’t even know what Kind of hair I have lol but I big chopped on June 6 and I constantly wore weaves and used wild growth and Castro oil in my hair and now we are in March and my hair is just a bit longer than yours .

ehizogie okojie: is it okay to put your hair in like 6 cornrows for like a week, wash it, let it breathe for 1-2 days then put cornrows back in? I have a hectic schedule so I usually wear a wig during the week but it take it off every night and I moisturize my hair through the braids before I go to sleep. ahyana slay: I think I should listen to yall because my parent said dirty hair makes your hair longer and she only washes my hair if I didn't wash my hair a week before I get braids

MAAME SERWAA: New subbie love ur videos

Dannngg I hope you understand the question. In other words, you tugged on various parts of your hair in this video and it showed the length; is your hair in this video the same length as the blown out picture in the thumbnail?
