We know that black women are 41% more likely to die from breast cancer than other women, that's according to the "Breast Cancer Research Foundation."

Now researchers have found a link between hair-care products marketed to Black women and breast cancer.

The study out of Boston University found that frequent use of hair relaxers that contain "Lye" is associated with a more aggressive form of breast cancer.

That'S! According to the breast cancer research foundation, now researchers have found a link between hair care products marketed to black women and breast cancer. The study at a boston university found that frequent use of hair relaxers that contain lye are associated with a more aggressive form of breast cancer. It comes down to the parabens used to preserve the hair products. The study found that parabens, which mimic the hormone estrogen not only increase breast cancer risk, but also the rate at which the cancer cells spread. The study is part of the community-led research project called bent to community initiative that brings together researchers, breast cancer survivors, hair, stylists and community activists to study the link between black hair care products and breast cancer.
