Hey guys welcome back to my channel or welcome if you are new here for today's video, we are going to be walking through my updated weekly hair wash routine. This has definitely been a top request over the past several months, because, if i'm remembering correctly, i think it's been close to a year now, since my last wash day routine. Video so totally understand why you guys wanted an update. It has been a while, but for the longest time my routine was exactly the same as that video, so i didn't feel the need to update you guys, but now enough has changed to where i feel like it's time to give you an update, show you my New process from start to finish, even though a lot of the steps that i shared in that last video are still exactly the same today. So if you would like to see my current once a week healthy, hair wash day routine, then you've come to the right spot, we're going to jump into that in a minute, but before we do, please don't forget to give this video a thumbs up subscribe to. My channel, if you haven't already click on that notification, bell and drop a comment below letting me know how you are doing today and also, let me know which day of the week you do your wash day routine. That'S always so interesting to me. I feel like it says, a lot about where you're at in life - i don't know if that's just me like how close it is to the weekend or if it's on the weekend. So let me know in the comments below: when do you wash your hair or maybe you do it a couple of times a week but either way? Thank you so much for doing all of those things, because it really helps to support me with the youtube algorithm. So i appreciate you so much for doing that and, as always, if you need anything for me check out my description box below, i have lightroom preset filters for editing your instagram photos. My spf merch time stamps discount codes links to all the products that i'll be using in this routine. In today's video and links to the rest of my favorite beauty, products of all time, all right, let's jump into it all right, so my wash day routine typically starts the night before i wash my hair with a pre shampoo oil treatment. This is something that i've been doing for a few years now and i feel like it's really made a difference in the health of the lengths and ends of my hair and there's tons of different reasons. Why? I love to do this step, but i would say the three biggest reasons are that number one it helps to minimize breakage when i am detangling my hair before washing number two. It helps to add some much needed additional softness and shine to my hair and number three. It helps to protect my fragile lengths and ends from the damaging effects of shampoo and water on wash day, so the oil that i've been using the most often recently for this step is the ogx miracle, coconut oil, so the one that says penetrating oil on it And the reason why i like to reach for affordable oils for this step is because i'm using so much more product than i would be if i were just applying it as a leave-in oil. If i'm using a leave-in oil, i'm only using one to two pumps of product, then i feel better about using something that is a little bit pricier. I would go through an expensive bottle of oil so so quickly. If i was using that for this step, because i use again a lot of products, so i like affordable, i don't think that you can really go wrong when it comes to the oil that you're using. But for me personally, i like to look for oils that have both silicones and coconut oil in them, silicones and coconut oil have tons of different benefits, but i would say for this specific purpose. The reason why i like to use oils with silicones is because silicones really help to add much needed slip to my hair to detangle, so that again, i'm not experiencing breakage, while brushing before i wash my hair. I find that if i use an oil without silicones, i don't get nearly as much slip and detangling assistance and then for coconut oil again, there's so many different benefits. But it's such a great oil to protect your hair from shampoo and water, because it helps to kind of film a coating on the hair that also helps to prevent the hair from protein loss. So i actually have two separate videos on both silicones and coconut oil. Where i talk about all the science behind those ingredients, all the benefits, everything that you need to know the truth about them, because they are both very, i would say, highly debated kind of controversial hair care ingredients if you will so if you would like to hear More about my thoughts on those ingredients and the science behind them, i will list both of those videos below for you. So again, i will use quite a bit of product for this step. I take a generous amount and apply it evenly all over the lengths and ends of my hair. This specific oil is pretty thick, so if you are using this one or any oil that is really thick just be careful not to go overboard with it. Otherwise, it will be a lot more difficult to get that to fully rinse away in the shower, unless you're really really massaging shampoo into the ends of your hair, which is something that i prefer to avoid just to again protect the fragile lengths and ends that have Already been through enough over the years and again, i prefer to apply my pre shampoo oils, the night before i wash, but if that doesn't work for you, i would say aim to apply them at least 10 minutes before washing, if not longer, let them sit in Your hair and then you should be good to go so i am still using and loving my pre shampoo oils, but i actually am not doing this before every single wash anymore, which i would say is the biggest change that i have made to this specific step. In my routine, so i am using an oil like this every two to three washes in a row and then on the third or fourth wash after that. I skip this step altogether because that is when i apply k18, i'm going to explain more about my thought process behind that when we get to the k18 step in this whole routine, but just know that whenever i'm applying that damage repair treatment, i am not applying A pre-shampoo oil, otherwise i will always do this all right. Next is a completely new step that i have added to my routine and that is to apply a scalp treatment. This is a product category that i have been experimenting with, depending on how my scalp is feeling each week, but because i am an infrequent washer. I find that my scalp typically responds really well to treatments that have a combination of gentle exfoliants and scalp soothers. So the treatment that i've been using the most lately is the inky list - salicylic acid exfoliating, scalp treatment. This has a combination of two percent salicylic acid to exfoliate and reduce excess oils panthenol to soothe and hydrate, and an ingredient called fluidy pure. That is supposed to minimize redness and irritation. I like to apply this in sections on my scalp, so i will lift up my hair and kind of just dab it along my scalp dab it along my scalp that sounded weird. The inky list has since repackaged this. So it's now bigger and has a little nozzle on it. That makes application a lot easier. So i will be purchasing that for sure once this is fully gone, which it almost is, but i like to apply this in sections and then massage it into my scalp for several minutes some weeks. I will do this. The night before i wash my hair, along with my pre shampoo oils other weeks, i will just apply it the morning that i'm going to wash my hair and then shampoo it out several hours later in the afternoon. So i think, depending on the type of scalp treatment that you're using you, can kind of experiment and figure out what works best for you as far as timing, but either way this is a product that i have been really really loving. I feel like it just makes my scalp feel so much more comfortable and it really helps to relieve itch, which is great okay, so i am almost ready to get in the shower. Not quite first, i have to detangle my hair before even getting it wet so that i am minimizing the chance of getting even more tangles and snarls in the shower while shampooing. So i have a new brush, you guys are like. Are you kidding? You show a new brush every video i know, but i can explain this was just because when i was at ulta, the wet brush pro was out of stock. So i was looking around trying to find something similar and found this. It is the olivia garden styler. It'S set up in the same way as a wet brush pro with the soft boar, bristles and then widely spaced plastic bristles, which is what i found works best for me, and i don't know if i'm making this up. But i feel like it is even softer than the wet brush pro a little bit more comfortable to use. I don't know, i don't know if i should say that, but i do really love it, so i think either way this brush wet brush pro they're. Both great now, we are finally ready to turn the water on. I know it's quite a process to even get to that point, but i wanted to make sure that i was quickly calling out the hard water filter that i always have in my shower head. In case any of you are new here, so i started to use this a few years ago. I'Ve made no change to the filter that i'm using and the reason why i wanted to use it is because water, and especially hard water in cities, is notorious for having a lot of chemicals and minerals and metals that cannot only damage the hair but also cause Color fade and cause your color to go brassy and i look back at pictures in college and i'm like oh honey. That'S some yellow hair! You got there! So ever since, using this, my hair just doesn't get brassy anymore. I get that question all the time. How do you prevent brass? What purple shampoo do you use? I don't use purple shampoo, it's this. I swear it's so so good. So if there are other hard water filters out there that you guys have been interested in or heard things about that, you want me to try i'm definitely down. I have been curious to test out. Others see if there's anything even better out there, but i feel like there's not that many filters to begin with so for now she stays because she has not led me astray. She has not done me wrong, and sometimes, if it's not broke, you just don't fix it all right. Let'S get this wash process actually started. Shall we so the first thing that i do, of course, is get my hair wet, but i want to just highlight this step because i think it's one that's really easy to rush through and not put much thought behind, but i have found that the way that I wet my hair actually makes a really big difference and how clean my hair is after i wash so because i have such dense or thick hair. I like to wet my hair in sections, move it around flip my hair upside down. I spend quite a bit of time wetting, my hair, because if i don't my hair just does not feel or look as clean after because i feel like the shampoo is just then not working as evenly so soak. My hair make sure it's evenly wet and then i'm finally ready for shampoo. I recently posted a review on the new k18 shampoos and i have been using these for a while because they sent them over to me before the launch. So i had a good amount of time to test them out beforehand, but i have continued to use them ever since, because i am in love with both of them. So i will either use the peptide prep, ph maintenance, shampoo or the peptide prep detox shampoo, depending on what i'm in the mood for and the level of oil and buildup that i have on my hair. But for today's video we are going to be using the peptide prep detox shampoo, in the review that i posted on these. I really dive into ingredients and formula. All of that, of course. So i'm not going to repeat all that there. I will just list that review below for you, but i will just say that this shampoo has tons of amazing ingredients for clarifying the hair and removing buildup, while also having the lowest ph that i have literally ever seen as shampoo. Have. It has a ph range between 3.8 and 4.2. Are you kidding come on so while these shampoos that i use have recently changed nothing about the way that i apply, shampoo has changed. This is also something that i have an entire video on, because my shampoo process is very very specific and i was going to say intentional, and that is just not a word purposeful. Intentional. I combined those words in my head. I think i have a very purposeful, intentional shampoo process so because i made a whole video on that i'll list, that below and again spare you guys all of the insane details here if you've already heard them, but i'll just quickly. Summarize some of my key shampoo process steps so first i always emulsify shampoo between my hands or rub it between my hands for several seconds so that i can get it worked up into a really nice lather so that it's easier to spread evenly throughout my hair. That is really essential for a nice proper cleanse for me. Second, i always massage shampoo onto my scalp in sections kind of same idea behind why i apply, or you know, wet my hair in sections. I want to make sure that everything is evenly cleansed so that i don't end up with certain areas that are looking greasy more quickly than others or just not getting properly cleansed, and not getting all that oil and build up or move. So i spend quite a bit of time shampooing in sections again it takes a while because my hair is so dense, but it's worth it and then i will rinse all of that away and then repeat the process of shampooing from start to finish. For a second cleanse, so i have to do all of those steps. It really is a make or break for me and how my hair looks and feels after a wash day. So, even though it feels like a lot of work again, it's so worth it to me, because i want my hair to feel nice and clean and fresh because it has been seven days since it felt that way. Well, okay, i guess i shouldn't say that, because my hair definitely still feels really nice several days after i wash it it's just once i hit day seven, i'm so ready to have that really freshly washed feel again, because i definitely don't have that same feeling on Day, seven we'll say that now that my hair is fully clean, i am ready to either apply k18 or a conditioning product, and, like i mentioned earlier, i apply the k18 hair mask every three to four weeks, because that is what the brand recommends. Once you are in maintenance mode with a product when you first start using it you're supposed to use it for six consecutive washes, but then after that, you're in maintenance mode, and you can use it every three to four weeks as needed. So if it is a week where i'm applying k18, i want to make sure that my hair is as clean as possible before using it, so that the k18 peptide can actually properly penetrate my hair and work to the best of its ability. So that is why i stopped using pre shampoo oils on the weeks where i'm using k18. I don't want anything to interfere with the ability of this product to work. Its damage. Repair magic k-18 should not be applied to soaking wet hair, so i will go ahead and take a microfiber towel now to gently squeeze the excess water for my hair. I will do this several times on the entire length of my ponytail to make sure that all the excess water is out so that again, this product can actually work, because i obviously want it to work. Then i will split my hair into two major sections and apply four total pumps of k18 to my hair or two pumps for each side of my head. I did learn a little hack for a k18 application since my last wash day routine, and that is to rub the product back and forth between your hands for several seconds, similar to how you would emulsify a shampoo and then scrunch the product up into your hair. From the bottom up, this is going to allow for more even distribution than if you were to not rub that product and to just kind of like rub it on top of the hair. That is something that i have found has made a really big difference. In my routine with this product, because a big issue that i had with k18 before was feeling like it just wasn't, evenly coating my hair, but this really really does make a difference. So i would highly recommend trying that out and then once the k18 is in, you want to leave that in for four minutes: don't let your hair get wet while that four minutes is rolling, i guess don't let your hair get wet for four minutes. The k18 is working its magic in that time it is penetrating the hair activating whatever you want to call it, but then, at that point you can re-wet your hair after the four minutes is up - and i personally like to do that, because i find that my Hair is just a little bit too dry to apply conditioning products evenly so i'll, re-wet, my hair, but then again wring it out a little bit this time, just with my hands not with a towel, because i want to make sure that my hair is not dripping. Wet when i'm applying conditioner otherwise it'll slip right off now, i am finally ready to condition, and i will say that over the past several months, i've really started to pay attention to how much product i use in the conditioning process in my routine there's. So many amazing conditioning products out there, so it's very tempting to just use all of them pile them all on at once, and i have definitely done that several times. But i have found that if i'm doing that using a really thick heavy pre, shampoo oil treatment, maybe a damage, repair treatment and then a shine rinse and then a deep conditioning, hair mask and then a conditioner. My hair just doesn't feel clean. When i step out of the shower, it feels way down, it feels like i have product in it and it feels like i need to get back in the shower and shampoo and start the process all over again, which is obviously not what we want. So what i have kind of changed about this routine is that i will always pick two out of the three following products: a shine, rinse, a deep conditioning mask or a deep conditioner. I absolutely love shine rinses, i feel like they're really underrated, because they always make my hair feel really soft and silky and make it look really shiny and healthy, but they're also incredibly lightweight, so whenever i use them instead of something that is really thick and heavy And buttery, to condition my hair always just feels really really light and airy and bouncy, which i absolutely love. So i am using the amika the flash instant shine mask today. I have a lot of shine masks that i really love. So if you guys would like a video where i share my favorites, let me know but amiga is today this product is incredible. It has so many nice conditioning ingredients like oils, quats, amino acids and silicones and, like all mica products, smells freaking divine. So i will fully saturate my lengths and ends in this. I actually feel like i apply this to more than just my lengths and ends like above my ears on the back of my head. I just don't put this towards my roots, otherwise i feel like it'll, make my hair look a little bit greasy. So on the majority of my hair, and then i will let that sit in my hair for a few minutes before rinsing, some brands recommend using shine. Rinses before conditioner others recommend using it after so i don't really think, there's a right or wrong way. You can do whatever you want and whatever works best for you. So if i'm using a shine mask, i will follow up with either just a conditioner or just a hair mask. I don't use both of those products when i'm using a shine mask because again i found that it just feels like too much on my hair, but if i'm not using a shine mask, then i will use both a hair mask and a conditioner. I hope that makes sense, and it's not too confusing, but i don't really have a specific cadence that i follow here as far as when i'm, using which combination of products it really just depends on what i'm in the mood for and what i want to test Out and again i will make sure to list some of my favorite conditioners and hair masks in the description box below, but today i am using the redken acidic bonding concentrate conditioner. This has a super low, ph range between three and four, and some amazing lighter weight. Conditioning ingredients, light quads and ammo dimethicone, and i have found that this just agrees so so well with my hair, my hair freaking loves this conditioner. It always feels so amazing after i use it, but whether i am using this conditioner or another conditioner or a hair mask. I will apply all of these conditioning products in the exact same way, so i will walk through that process. First, i like to again squeeze my hair to get rid of any excess water so that the conditioner is not just slipping right off. So i will do that and then i will create four to six sections in my hair and apply the product on my lengths and ends to all of those sections that helps to make sure that i'm actually getting an even distribution of conditioning product on my hair. Otherwise, if you're just grabbing around the ponytail of your hair, like one major section of hair, there's so much of your hair, that's getting neglected. That really needs that conditioning love as well. The other thing that i really try to pay attention to is making sure that i'm getting an even amount of product on the very ends of my hair. I think that it's easy for a lot of the product to kind of just stick to the top section of your hair, where you're first applying it and not evenly, go all the way down. So that's something that i will kind of feel out after i apply conditioner or a hair mask. Sometimes i will go back in and apply a little bit more to my ends, because that's what really needs it the most then, once that product is fully applied. I will typically wrap my hair up in some sort of towel or towel wrap to let that sit in my hair for about 10 minutes before i carry on with my exfoliating and shaving and whole body self-care routine, i do have an entire video on that that I will list below because that again is just a whole separate routine that warrants a separate video. So at that point i am ready to rinse that out of my hair, if i am using the hair, mask conditioner combo, i don't feel the need to leave conditioner in my hair for a full 10 minutes as well. So i will leave the hair mask in for 10 minutes rinse. My hair then apply conditioner leave that in for just a few minutes, rinse again and then my wash day routine is complete well complete after i dry it with a microfiber towel. I guess then it's done, oh, my goodness. That process is a doozy. That is why i only do this once a week, because i simply do not have the mental energy to do it more than that. If i did, maybe i would do it twice a week. Maybe because it does feel so so nice and i just love the feeling of fresh, clean hair and a fresh, clean scalp, but even in doing that once a week. I just feel like my hair benefits so much from it, and i am in love with that. Routine right now, so that's it for this video we're gon na wrap it up here. I really hope that you guys enjoyed this and found it helpful. You'Ll have to let me know in the comments below what does your routine look like? Is it similar to this? What do you do differently? Are you going to make some changes to your routine after watching this video maybe purchase some new products? Uses a scalp treatment like one that has salicylic acid. Massage in. 4. Comb hair before shampooing it. Olivia garden styler brush ( the wet brush was out of stock at Ulta). 5. Use a hard water filter on shower head to prevent brass. Doesn’t use a purple shampoo. 6. Wet hair a lot. 7. Uses K18 shampoo that she was sent for their launch. They have a low ph, the lowest she’s ever seen. 8. Emulsify shampoo in hands. 9. Massage shampoo in sections. 10. Washes every 7 days. 11. Pari Patel: My hair has been my biggest insecurity for the past few years. I deal with PCOS, and hair loss is one of the symptoms I have. My hair used to be so sleek, soft and shiny. Now it’s brittle and I have lost a lot of it. Coming across your channel has completely changed my hair. I’m incorporating as many tips as possible and it has become soft and shiny again. I cannot thank you enough. Your tips are not the only reason I watch. You seem like you wouldn’t judge anyone for their hair or skin issues. ❤️

Squidney: Thank you for filming this Abbey! I remember you saying filming your last wash day routine was a pain in the butt as far as camera logistics go, really appreciate you going through all that trouble again!

Rachael Anthony: I used to wash my hair every day or every other day for 26 years of my life until I found your channel and followed your tips Now I’m able to wash it once a week and it’s grown so much in only 8 months. Thank you so much for sharing your wealth of knowledge

Jennifer Bond: Abbey, I LOVE your videos! You are truly one of the most talented content creators on YouTube. I have changed to washing my hair once a week and have incorporated all of your wash day guidance. It has transformed my hair. I have shared you with all of my friends too. Keep these videos coming!! ❤️

faucikillspuppies: I wash on Saturdays or Sundays. It depends on what I have going on that weekend. Our wash day routines are surprisingly similar given that I have type 4 hair (I have a silk press in my current profile pic). I just tried the K18 clarifying shampoo last night and loved it. The biggest difference in our routines is that I pre-poo on damp hair with a leave-in conditioner and an oil because my hair is coily and needs more than oil to get through it with a comb or brush. I also keep my hair sectioned and in twists while I wash so it doesn't tangle again. I untwist the section I'm washing or putting product in and twist it back up during each step of wash day.

Maria Echeverri: A shower filter showdown would be so informative to watch. I bought a 15 stage shower filter from Amazon and I don't think it did anything for my hair. I have recently purchased a Jolie filter which retails for $140. Haven't tried it yet, but fingers crossed it works. Had no idea that the one you use is so affordable and efficient!

butterfly be: Amazing as always Abby❤️ You are single-handedly responsible for my hair glow-up! God bless you girl. ❤️

ceeb: Thank you for including the simple 'back to basic' tips alongside the more advanced detailed tips. It sounds so stupid, but the part about ensuring that the ends of the hair are soaked in conditioner has been such a game changer for me already! I was previously falling down into the trap that you mentioned of naturally aiming the conditioner to the mid lengths then only spreading what's left of the conditioner onto the ends!

Kayla Zinkhon: My routine is similar to yours. I only wash once a week, usually on Sunday, because it would take way too long on work mornings! I love your hair content so much and all your product recommendations! ❤️ Ordering the K18 Shampoos now!

Amanda Hughes: Hi Abbey! I wash on with on Thursday or Friday depending on my schedule!! Thank you so much for all your help on my hair!!! In the last 2 years I’ve gone from the worst shape it’s ever been in to now, the best shape it has EVER been in in my life (and length!!). I appreciate all your knowledge and advice ❤

Christina Graziano: Great video! I wash my hair twice a week and knowing myself, I wouldn’t be able to maintain all these steps. What step do you think makes the most difference in terms of repair after washing or where would you recommend people start?

MrsAguas: I have followed your wash day routine and my hair always feels so amazing for several days after wash day. I have learned many wonderful things from you about hair and everything else beauty related. I have tried many of the products you suggest and I just want to say thank you for all of your hard work and research as well as the willingness to share with all of us here. Thank you Abbey, and I pray for you often

Brooke Carrillo: So much time needed for this! I have a 14 week old so it’s a 3 minute shower for me whenever I can sneak it in lol.

savvy lynn: Love this video so much! Needed this updated video so much! Re wetting post K18, game changer!! Thank you Abbey!

LIZZYONSTAGE: Love you Abbey!!!! ♥️ that K18 rubbing hack is going to be a GAMECHANGER for me!!! I also feel like I go through upon pump and yet never have it evenly coat my strands… so excited to try this!!!!

The Babbling Brooke: I wash once a week since watching your videos and I choose my wash night to be Saturday night before church on Sunday morning and by Wednesday I’m ready for a dry shampoo and updo look! It works perfectly for my lifestyle and schedule! I am 6 months pregnant and my hair has been super healthy and I’m worried that when I have baby it’s going to fall out or get brittle, it never has before (this is my 4th pregnancy) but I’m still irrationally worried because I’ve been working real hard on keeping it healthy. Any advice or good knowledge out of your book about post partum hair care??

suemazrn: I have the exact opposite routine lol. I wash and condition my hair daily, using a deep conditioner once a week. I do also use a leave in conditioner on the ends and typically air dry. But it works for me. I have an oily scalp and fine hair for reference. But love your recommendations and wish I had the time for your hair routine lol. Thanks for such great content!

Faye Reason: I wash my hair on a Thursday and a Sunday, I tried once a week washing for about a month but it left me feeling really gross and itchy! I wish I could do all the steps in this routine but normal hair washing shower routine already takes 40+ minutes

Brandy Martinez: Thanks for this update queen ❤️ just saw your last hair care routine yesterday!

Lisette Campbell: Hi Abbey, I want to say thank you for the quality content you share. Besides all of the info you spoil us with, I really enjoy your personality and humor in your videos too

aye inbc: Thanks Abbey!! When rinsing conditioner, how do I know when to stop rinsing? Should it be when the hair feels more squeaky clean or is it ok to stop rinsing even when it still feels "slippery"? Thank you

Justeen Crawford: I love washing my hair on Mondays after hot yoga. The heat and humidity are fantastic with the oils and scalp treatment. It is also laundry day so I feel like I am accomplishing a non personal task.

Trishanne Lininger: Monday and Friday OR Sunday and Thursday depending. With my fine hair I have gotten my wash days from daily, to every other day to twice a week in the last 4 years. What I found for my hair's healthiest appearance is twice a week. Ooh never tried a shine mask...maybe I will:)

Fiona Darragh: Hi Abbey ❤, Hope you're keeping ok ! I've never heard of a shine mask before, I'll take that on board. I use the Redkin three step range based on your recommendations. My wash day is a Thursday! Your doing a phenomenal job with your channel ❤ it so so much ❤. Enjoy the rest of your weekend !

Leesa Durham: Abby, I am a new subscriber and I love your videos. I was an avid daily washer until recently and watching your videos has helped me so much. I haven’t been able to make it 7 days between washing yet, but I have made 5. I have a feeling I will most likely be a twice a week washer. But time will tell. I bought a 15 stage filter that is in the handle of the shower head as our shower is small and can’t use the ones like you have because I end up on the wall of the shower. I usually wash in Sunday’s and then mid week sometime. I might add the scalp treatment and conditioner rinse to my routine. I have a feeling I may be over conditioning two, which may be why I can’t go an entire week. Thanks keep the videos coming.

Abigail Toomey: I wash once a week on Sunday, but my scalp gets really itchy & flaky by day 5/6. I’ve never done a scalp treatment, so I’m going to try the one you used in this video! Thanks!

violettefemme21: Do you have a video on your “weekly hair routine”? Like the hairstyles and ways you refresh your hair throughout the week in-between washes?

Holly Myers: Question - what type of night cap/bonnet do you use to keep your pillow from getting ruined from the oil the night before wash day? I have been using oil in the morning of wash day and leaving it in all day for this reason. I wash Sunday and either Wednesday or Thursday depending on how oily my hair looks/feels.

jo4vt: Thanks for doing a update, your videos definitely help me understand how to care for my hair!

M W: I had no idea you could condition your hair (other than with leave in) AFTER K18. This is what stops me from using K18 as often cause I can barely get a brush through without conditioner. So happy I saw this.

meshelle_kimeko: Awesome!!! Thanks for the update!! I do mine on Sunday…..to start off the week with nice looking hair.

Katie O: I used to wash my hair on Sunday nights when I went into an office every day, but now I typically wash it on a Wednesday or Thursday night, depending on when my weekend is starting I need to try K18! I’ve heard nothing but good things about it

Shannon Cooney: I wash every 4-5 days I used to do every 7 but my scalp was getting so irritated! It got better with more frequent washing

Amy Peteritis: Hey Abbey! Could we possibly have an updated video of how you style your hair each day? I'm trying to convince myself to only wash my hair once per week, but I get really lost on what the heck to do with my hair between washes (especially when I'm working out 3-5 days per week!)

Wendy: Abbey love all your videos I definitely wash my hair every 7 days but waiting to try the new k18 sounds lush

S T: I used to know nothing about taking care of my hair. Thank you for the tips and tricks

Sunflower Sunshine: I wash my hair once a week on Sunday. It’s a blessing in disguise! It feels like my hair loves me back.

Megan Leah: Abbey can you please do another week long hair vlog? Love your videos! I would love to go a week without washing because my hair really transformed when I moved from washing it daily to every 2-3 days after watching your channel, but I can never go longer as I always tend to breakout (particularly along the hairline which makes logical sense) when I go without washing. But I admire your involved wash day routine! :)

Kasia Zawartko: Good tip is to brush in the hair conditioner/mask - I use a tangle teezer or tangle angel to do it (just a regular brush is fine, but withour boar bristles). It will help with the product penetration and even distribution on hair :) <3

Amy Hill: Loved this video! Since you only wash once a week, it would be great if you could do a video showing us how you style your hair each day in between and what products you use on what days. I usually give up and wash by day 3 or 4 because I just don’t know what to do with my hair. ‍♀️

Lisa S: I wash my hair every fourth day with no consideration to the day of the week. My wash routine is much less complex. I use a scalp treatment or shine rinse just whenever I feel the need. I have lilac highlights that I maintain with a pigment-depositing conditioner (sometimes mixed in with a hair mask) every third shampoo. I find I don't need to follow K-18 treatment with any conditioner with my chin-length hair. If I'm not color-depositing or treating with K-18, I rotate through my various conditioners and masks (Kenra, Amika, Oribe, or Redkin Acid Bonding). I don't use any Oliplex products anymore as I don't feel they do anything for my hair. I follow every wash with either the Redkin Acid Bonding leave in or Alterna CC Cream and Kenra Blow-dry Spray. (Smells sooooooo good!)

Erica Brodzinski: My scalp and breakage has been an issue for me recently. So I started trying to incorporate your tips and I just got a dry shampoo so hopefully that helps. My scalp is so aggravating that I am on the verge of shaving my head. You give me hope.

Celaina Roberts: I generally wash twice a week, lately it’s been once a week because I work 2 jobs and I get busy I usually wash on Friday or Saturday. My routine goes from 4-7 days between washes, depending on the week I’ve had. This past week I washed on Monday, and will Likely wash today (Friday) because it’s the only day I have time Until Monday again and I want to get my weekend routine back on track, and I like to have my natural waves shining for church on Sunday

Halfofmyheart: Thank you so much for the update Abbey! You are helping so many of us and it’s really appreciated! I was wondering if what you do throughout the week has changed, & if so, can you do an updated video on that too please?

chinnychinchin: For your pre-wash oil definitely check out the Shea Butter & Coconut Oil Hair Serum by Trader Joe’s - it’s amazing and around $5 and the coordinating hair conditioning mask is amazing too

Anna Schrieber: I’m going to try this! But with slightly different products, like the Hairitage ACV scalp treatment and Olaplex No. 3 treatment, also I got my detangle brush from the dollar store

Emily B: Love your content - you're so smart, thoughtful and logical I love it!!!

Lisa S: I wash my hair every fourth day with no consideration to the day of the week. My wash routine is much less complex. I use a scalp treatment or shine rinse just whenever I feel the need. Felicia Hernandez: Hi Abbey - when does your hair above the ponytail line get conditioned? I highlight my hair and just beyond the root feels like it could use some love too. Beyond the scalp treatment and shampoo does the top of your head get any additional treatment? Love your videos! ☺️

Suzie Althens: I'm so glad you said that you rinsed out the K18 after the four minutes. I just COULDN'T not use conditioner on my hair. Now I'll use the K18, wait 4 minutes, rinse and go with the conditioner. That makes so much sense! Girl, you're good! Great video....again!

LIZZYONSTAGE: Also I’m cracking up because I think we have the same exact steps in our routines- sans shine mask- and I’m exhausted just listening and thinking about my own wash day- it’s a marathon

StoryOfThisGirlxx: Love love love your hair care videos, Abbey! Please do the shine mask video!❤️❤️

Anna Weisberg: I love the Olivia brushes! I have one with boar bristles for after shower and one without fir before and during shower cause it's easier to clean

HeidiMargaret: Hi, have you tried using a wide toothed comb in the shower to comb through the hair when you condition,I find it helps a lot especially for the tangle’s ❤️

Pierce Gillette: I know it’s all so personal, but I would love a daily/weekly skincare routine with the products you’re currently using!

Susan Slingerland: Thank you! The Flash Instant Shine Mask is just what I needed and love the smell. ❤️

katie hopkins: I have fine thin hair and probably androgenetic alopecia. As I get older I hadn’t been able to grow it past my shoulders because it would get so dry and brittle. I’ve made several changes, most are your tips. As of now my hair is almost bra strap length!!! It’s still thinning but the ends are so healthy, and shiny!!

Dylan O: Love your videos, Abbey! Totally going to buy the new K18 shampoos once I finish my next bottle of Pureology. This may seem like a silly question, but what would you say the key indicators are that your hair is in "maintenance mode" versus "damage repair" mode? I still use K18's treatment once a week and now I'm wondering if that might be a waste of product/money.

Helen Lucy: I love your videos. Honestly, I’ve wanted to tell you that like a million times, but everything I typed sounded ridiculous. Obviously, today included. Thank you for all you do! Im so glad to have found you. Also I love that you’re in Chicago!

Beyond50Skin: I’m a Sunday wash-day girl. I love a Squalane based hair oil. Love the Haielle & The Ordinary’s scalp treatments.

Connie: Hey Abbey, your hair is my inspiration so I'm excited for this video. I wash Wed. and Sun., but Sun. is when I do my longer, deep conditioning treatment. Also, I don't wash in the shower, I use the sink and wash in tepid/cool water since my hair is colored. Have a fabulous day!

Liv Kennedy: Saturday is the day for me! Thanks for another great video!

Julie Langebartels: I love your page! I share all your videos with my friends! My wash days are typically on Thursday or Friday. My hair has changed so much from watching your videos, so thank you!! What shampoos do you use for the second wash? The k18 again or another one?

lucciana lewis: My haircare routine is similar too but the key is to have discipline and be consistent to get a thick and full hair besides of inverting on quality items for my hair. It had already brought great results for me.

Jennifer Keane: Hey Abbey, have you had dialogue with K18 people and they advised that you can re-wet your hair, apply conditioner/mask, and then rinse? It’s just that the instructions explicitly say “do not rinse out”. I always just apply a leave in conditioner after the 4 mins. I never re-wet my hair or use a rinse out product afterwards. Thanks in advance, Jen.

Bridget Schuster: Do you still use the ACV Rinse or has that retired from your routine? Thanks for sharing your routine! I appreciate your expertise and experience :)

Katherine Kline: A shine mask video would be GREAT! Also, I just LOVE LOVE LOVE your videos. I have learned so much! Thank you!

Summer Sadie: Do you think combing the k18 mask through with a wide-tooth comb would work as well as the hack described in this video? And, does anyone know if Abbey's hair is "high-porosity" or "low-porosity"?

Chantal Garneau: Hi Abbey. Love your videos. I wash my hair every 5 to 7 days. My hair is very fine. I use Olaplex 6 and mix their oil at 3-4 days. I will use #3 as well before washing. I just love Olaplex. I will use dry shampoo as well which currently is Living Proof. I will try Ouai the next time. Thanks and take care.

Shawna Hare: Thanks for this. I will be trying out a few of the products you use. My hair is only chin length, no damage due to years of growth. The scalp is my issue. And that shine mask looks intriguing.

brandonbjackson: I like this routine! I think you would very much enjoy Redken’s ABC pH Sealer. It is like the ‘shine rinses’ you use, though it is made to be put on top of their ABC masks and conditioner. Depending on how much hair you have, you would spray the pH sealer directly on top for 1 minute, distribute evenly, and then rinse everything. It really makes sure the all cuticles are completely closed to give incredible mirror-like shine and amazing movement. Another one that I think you would like, this one being at the start of your routine while you’re focusing on your scalp, is Redken’s Blondage High Bright Treatment. It’s made with Ascorbic Acid to brighten, nothing like how a violet shampoo would, but in a very different way, it avoids blonde hair from looking dull/muddy and gives this beautiful ‘glowy ring-light brightness’ reflect.

Marnie Kodya: I fried my hair w bleach, and was so self conscious about it so I started extensions. Now I have soft hair but it’s so thin. I took them out and I’m doing my best to heal my hair. I wash it on sundays and wednesdays

Sam: Would love a video on shine rinses! I’ve started to see them come up but idk if they are a gloss or deep conditioner or what really

Gabrielle A. Tumminello: Thank you again for this I love how detailed you are an educated on your hair care choices. My question is actually about a previous video about skin care. I know you’ve been using and loving the ordinary Copper peptide serum. Is that in addition to the dermatology needless serum? Or are you taking a break from that and using the copper peptides instead? Just curious

Hilary Allen: i never knew about shine masks i'm super excited to try one! and all the pre shampoo tricks too i think will really help my hair out alot! thanks for sharing such great tips

Julie Nathe: I wash my hair twice a week. You are my hair guru. I have so many products that I am trying to use up, so I can buy my holy grails, that I found through you! Thank you.

kaceyisdead: I wash depending on how my week went, I work in a restaurant and sometimes my hair can smell super work-y and I MUST wash. I'm an every 4ish day washer with a mask in between.

Annie Falls: Your hair is so beautiful, I love watching your channel Abby

abigail nicole: Would you ever do a routine with drugstore counterparts for the broke girlies? I would appreciate it!!

Street family 6: I wash my hair every Wednesday and Sunday. I’d love to be able to go an entire week but I’m always fed up with it by 4 days max and have to wash it

Soojung Ko: Great video with lots of helpful tips. I have a question on wash days when you don't use oil pre shampoo bc you're doing a K18 mask - how do you detangle and brush hair pre shampoo without the oil?

KP R: As always thanks for your professional and meticulous approach to your videos. Could you create a video an shine rinse video and talk about ingredients and fragrance. As a post menopausal woman, I have issues with smells. Amika is a no go for me because of the fragrance. Thanks, Abbey.

Heyyyyy: My hair routine is the OGX nourishing coconut milk shampoo and conditioner. I’ve used that one since I was 4. It smells and works soo good. Then after the shower I use the OGX nourishing coconut milk anti breakage serum or the OGX nourishing coconut hydrating oil mist. The oils smell sooo good too. I only use the OGX nourishing line.

Kelly McLaughlin: What's your routine when you get out of the shower re: hair products that you apply post-shower? Thanks!

Ervin's Movie Corner: A nice hairwash routine, Abbey!❤️❤️

Catherine Greer: Hey Abbey Have the K18 detox shampoo ( love it!) ,but find it is hard to emulsify. It isn't thick so a lot runs out of my hands before I can get on my hair and isn't as emulsified as I would like. I didn't expect it to be thick by the purpose/nature of the product, but is this an issue for you at all??

Sára Herczeg: I'm always in a mathematic matrix with my washdays depending on more important events ✨

Eni E: You can use conditioner instead of oil BEFORE shampooing on your ends. It will protect it from water and the harsher surfactants of shampoo.

Sarah Gloria: Thanks for the updated video, these are my favorites! For more affordable shampoo/conditioner would you recommend L’Oréal bond repair or NatureLab Tokyo perfect repair?

jessica mckee: Do you think there is any benefit to alternating Olaplex and K18 or finding a way to include them both in your routine (especially if you wash every few days or so), or do you think just K18 is ideal?

Andrea Sanderson: Two things: what, if any, products do you put in your hair after washing? Like, leave-in conditioners, mousse, etc.? Second, I would love to see you review shine masks such as (Drybar Liquid Glass Instant Glossing Rinse). Thank you for your videos. I have thoroughly enjoyed utilizing your process.

Alyse Downey: Hey Abbey! I’ve been wanting to get a hair mask from Pureology but there are a few different options. I would love your opinion/video on all the different masks, serums, and leave in sprays from them! Also love your content! You’re the reason I started taking care of my hair better a couple of years ago.

Pam A: Great video! I’m a twice per week washer. Sunday and Thursday are my days. Also, what’s on yOur nails. LOVE IT!

Alexandra S: This was an incredibly helpful video. I hadn't heard of shine rinses before and I'm eager to try one. I was wondering why you use both a hair mask and a conditioner? I had thought that a conditioner would be redundant if using a hair mask and so I have been skipping it.

Elena y Phoebe: I use one of those little face wash foam makers instead of using my hands to foam the shampoo before applying it to my hair. Game changer. Plus, I use much less product. I only wish they were bigger.

Catherine Greer: P.S Yes would love a review on shine rinses! Love the Amika one as well❤️. Also, have you tried anything from Apivita? My hair loves their rescue oil and omg! the hair mask orange is amazing!!

Maybutterfly 73: I did not realise that you could do that with the K18 as I was told that it was to be left in and then add in a leave in conditioner afterwards and not ‘rinsed’ out. So I’m definitely going to try this as I think this may make the difference for me to go longer between washes. Will be adding a few of the other options bit by bit as I wash my hair every 3 days at the moment, but think a lot of these would make a huge difference for me. Thank you so much, your information has been an amazing help for me!

dreamweaber: What would you reccomend as a more affordable alternative to the k18 shampoos?

Kelly Burnett: Your hair is gorgeous...I have long hair, but mine is thin and fine and aging....I absolutely love your tips !!
