What'S up everyone welcome back to my channel if you're new here my name is alex costa and on this channel it is my job to teach you guys about men's hair, men's fashion, fitness and even dating advice. So if that sounds good to you, if you want to learn more about those topics, then hit that subscribe, button below and join the youtube family with over three million subscribers. I'M gon na go ahead and say that this is probably one of the questions that i get the most probably top three of all time. I get this question without fail every single day from one of you, whether it's on instagram or youtube comments. So today i decided to do a whole video about it. I want to show you exactly how you should be washing your hair. How often you should do it and some tips and tricks to make your hair look and feel better. So without further ado, let's get into it all right. Let'S talk about shampoo. How when and how often you should use it first things: first, what is a shampoo and why do we use it? Why do we need this right? Shampoo is actually made to suck all of the gunk all of the dirt. The oils out of your hair, to bring it back to squeaky, clean, hair and scalp after you've used styling products, for example, or after you worked out, and you got sweat all over your scalp and your hair. So how do you use shampoo? How do you actually use it? Well, my recommendation is, if you have short hair, all right shorter than mine. Obviously, then start with a quarter size amount on your palms. If you have longer hair like mine, then use a little bit more. You know never use too much shampoo, though, because it is going to dry your hair out. Why is it going to do that? Because it's literally its job remember, it's sucking all of those oils out, including natural oils, so you just apply it throughout your hair, focusing on the scalp and the roots then use what looks like a claw kind of like this here right to scrub. Your scalp in circular motions now you're going to be using the tip of your fingers to get the shampoo in there. So just remember to go easy. You know remember that the harder you scrub, the more hair you're gon na, lose and it will happen so there's no need to be aggressive here once it foams up, then it's time to wash it off. My recommendation would be do not leave it on your head. For too long or it's going to dry out your hair and your scalp, like we talked about by the way, this is kind of funny. I used to rinse my shampoo looking down like this for some reason - and this is wrong - why? Because the oils and dirt that you're washing out of your hair will run down your face right and get into your skin. This is a possible pimple nightmare, so make sure to look up and tilt your head back instead of looking down. If you have dandruff or dry scalp and if you use styling products to make your hair style look amazing, i highly recommend you get the forte series clarifying shampoo, because it has apple cider, vinegar to help you get rid of dandruff and because it is made specifically For guys to get rid of the hair product so that you can start your hairstyle fresh with nothing in your hair after you shower it's nothing like the shampoo you get at drugstores, it looks different. It feels different, so i'm going to link the forte series products in the description below now. Let'S talk about conditioner. What does it do? Well after you use shampoo, your hair is going to feel kind of dry right because the shampoo did its job. If you did its job right, then the oils are gone and you get that squeaky, clean feeling, which is really nice. So now it's time to soften it up to add hydration and moisture back into your hair and scalp, and that is what the conditioner is for. My recommendation is, you can be pretty generous with the amount of conditioner that you use, because otherwise your hair is going to feel pretty dry, so apply it from your roots, to your ends, making sure to get the back. The sides get everything covered with conditioner and then stop leave it there for a while, i like to leave my conditioner in for at least one full minute before washing it out, but ideally two minutes. Trust me this is life. Changing your hair will feel 10 times nicer just by using this little trick. It'S gon na be smooth soft hydrated, especially if you're using the forte series hydrating conditioner, because it's almost as thick as your hair mask like it really does soften your hair. So leave this in for at least a full minute 60 seconds, but when you do wash it out, you have to be very, very thorough. You need to make sure that you're spending time under the shower under the water there getting every ounce of the conditioner out, because if you don't what happens, is the leftover conditioner is going to weigh your hair down so you're not gon na be able to style The product you're not gon, na get this volume here, for example, if your hair is heavy with conditioner right, it's also gon na get oily and sticky. So don't let that happen wash it out fully before you get out of the shower to style your hair. Now, if you're taking a long shower right once in a while, you take a long shower. I know i do once a week or every other week. I recommend you apply a hair mask now. Forte we're working on our hair mask it's going to be out in a few months. It smells incredible, it'll, be out very soon i'll. Let you know when, but until then try any other mask. All you have to do is leave it in for three to five minutes. It makes a huge difference once a week once every other week just make sure that you're washing it out like the conditioner wash everything out. Otherwise, you can't really you're not going to be able to style it properly, because it's going to be oily, it's going to be heavy and it's not going to look as good all right now, the question of the hour. Let'S talk about how often you should be washing your hair with shampoo, and this is definitely one of the questions that i get the most when it comes to hair, washing questions like on instagram tick, tock, everything every single day. So, let's answer it so that you guys can stop asking me this question over and over again i got you guys, like i said in the beginning of this video. The shampoo's job is to suck all of the gunk all of the oils, all the dirt. From your hair and your scalp, it's great to reset your hair, of course, to get it to. You know, start from scratch, but it has cons. It can really dry your hair out if you overuse it so, if you're suffering from dry hair, dry scalp, maybe you're over washing your hair with shampoo you're using it too often, there's no need to wash your hair with shampoo every single day, even if you style Your hair every single day with styling products, even if you work out every single day, i do both of those things and i definitely don't wash my hair with shampoo every single day, even when it was shorter. I still didn't do it, but alex my hair gets all oily gets so gunky and heavy. What should i do? You should still wash your hair if you want and if you need to do so, just without shampoo use water to get most of the product out. You know get the sweat out, make sure that you're using the claw right then apply conditioner same thing, leave it on for a minute and then wash it out really really well also a lot of times. I want to take a shower, but don't really need to wash my hair. So what i do is i put on this stupid. Looking shower cap and i take a shower, then i remove it right that will ensure that my hair doesn't get wet so that i don't have to blow dry it or restyle it at all. Now, listen! Your hair is not going to feel the same as it would, if you wash with shampoo, of course, but i'm telling you going from seven shampoo washes a week to four is so much better for your hair and your scalp. So you know it's gon na. Take some time to adjust, but stick with it and your hair will feel so much better. Now let me show you a great little hack that girls have been using for a long time, but us man, we kind of slacked on this one, not anymore, because i got you guys all right. This is dry shampoo and this it makes a huge difference. It'S perfect for on the go right, because you can just carry this it's a perfect product for in between washes because it sucks all of the oils out of your hair, but it's a lot more mild than going into the shower using an actual liquid shampoo. You know this is a great little hack that you can use between washes this one's actually literally called between washes by tresemme, and i think i mean this is a fairly cheap product, there's probably better ones. This was the first one that i saw here honestly. I try to use some type of dry shampoo when i travel. That is pretty much it when i'm at home. I just wash my hair without shampoo in between shampoo washes. That is it. It'S also a great hack, if you don't have time for a shower like after a long flight or something like that, it refreshes your hair and your hairstyle uh, it's a great product to have at home. All you got to do is kind of like separate your hair and then spray the roots with this a little bit and then just kind of like rub it in, and that should do the trick now when you get out of the shower. Let me give you a little tip guys, because most men do this right, aggressive towel drying. Don'T do that! Pat dry! Do not rub aggressively, because when your hair is wet, it breaks easily. It'S very fragile, so you're going to have to be a little patient here when you dry, your hair, all right pat lightly, go easy, treat it like gold, because you don't want to lose it breaking hair is definitely not what we want. The idea here is to get your hair to stop dripping water, but you're, most likely not gon na towel dry and the reason for that is blow drying is way more effective at making your hairstyle better, giving it more shape better hold more shine. I could go on and on so make sure that you're styling with a blow dryer then of course make sure to style with the forte paste or the clay. This is the new clay. By the way it is now scented as well in the new packaging. We just launched the texture spray, the forte texture spray. This has been selling a lot. You guys have been loving this. I'M gon na leave a link to all of the forte products that i mentioned in today's video. It'S all listed below, and just so you guys know, i have dozens of videos here on my channel about men's hairstyles, men's hair, health and care. Alex Costa: Don't forget to follow me on instagram.com/alexcosta Did you learn something new about washing your hair today?! Thank YOU for watching! -AC

HPVRStuff: When I was 7 my dad taught me to leave shampoo in for about 4 minutes and to get conditioner out instantly, I've been doing that for 6 years, thx dad

game time: This man is a blessing during my teens Edit: I got more likes that Alex's comment holyy Thank you!

Jamieson Baker: It’s actually better just to condition from the mid length down to the ends of your hair. Conditioning the roots will cause your scalp to get oily quicker. Haven’t seen anyone comment that so I figured I’d spread some knowledge to y’all

Abhishek Matholiya: If alex will continue this hairstyle he will end up casting in witcher

Strawberry Smoothie: Sup Alex, I saw this video last night and I tried out the exact same thing this morning and my hair feels so much lighter and fluffier. It used to be frizzy and dry since I hadn't used a conditioner after shampoo, but damn the difference is so evident after a single use of conditioner. Thanks a lot man, I love your vids! Keep doing what your doing mate!!

Naruto Fan: This one video changed my entire life. I never ever used condicioner before, and after using it and everything i learn in this video, i felt so good and happy about how my hair looked after i styled it properly. I'm growing my hair out and it looked still short a few months ago, but with condicioner applied, my hair looked way longer right away, i could style it more, try new hairstyles. This man literally changed how i look right now. Love you Alex. ❤

Zane Joseph: 1. Use your shampoo properly. 2. Use conditioner 3. Apply hair mask.(once a week) 4. Don't use shampoo too often. 5. Don't be aggressive while drying your hair.

Scfc xtra: Why shampoo Use conditioner How to use Hair mask How often to use? 4 shampoo a week Don’t rub aggressively Style with a blow dryer

Dimension Records: Thank you for being professional Alex Costa! Very informative! Lots of people will learn how to give a good speech from you. Clear, concise and interesting!

Daniel Danielson: Coming from someone who has seb derm, these are helpful tips. I treat my hair delicately and show it care to prevent flare ups but it’s going to inevitably happen. But it’s so soothing to wash out conditioner with cold water, as cold as you can manage. Hot and warm is okay at the start but don’t stand under the constant hot water. It’s too harsh. As for me, I’m looking forward to trying forte. I’m using OGX now but after a few cycles, my hair gets used to a certain brand and I have to switch it up.

Crackers: This is interesting. I’m watching for my teen son. Appears he’s doing it all right and my husband might have lost this bet. Although, I do believe we find what works for us as individuals—I also think that shampoo and soaps in general make it so that we create more oil in response to it being stripped. My son has a totally clear of blemish face, while his dad had and still will get pimples in his 40s—not a lot now but as a teen he has a rough period. My son uses conditioner and my husband always tells him it’s bad and that if it touches his face he will break out…but so far that’s not happened. My son and my younger brother as well swear that ppl are overly aggressive with soaps and shampoos and neither one of them are smelly people lol. I have been working on a good “self care” bag of staple products for my boy. It’s just as important for men as it is women. I don’t know why we focus just on women and their skin. Guys, especially younger ones, need some direction as well. Oh edit to add through Korean skin care I found an aloe based line that my father absolutely loved

RED ALERT!: Honestly a very very useful video, not just a repeat of information this time! Love it ;)

SomethingStupid: Dude this shit helped me so much. I found out about my naturally curly hair about 9 months ago and it’s been a struggle figuring it all out and my hair looks better than ever!

Доситеј Трнинић: Wow, thia helped very much! I washed my hair almost every day with a LOT of shampoo. Thats why my hair is SOO dry. Thank you Alex! As always! :D

Nate p: "A shampoo's job is to suck" -Alex Costa 2021-

Matrix: this channel is basically a way to avoid depression. much love

Cons: This is literally perfect. Recently my hair has been constantly frizzy and I don’t know why.

Akshay Patil: Your explanation makes alot of things so simple and sensible !!!

TheRandomGuy_777: Thanks to this and how to Blow hair vid my hair went from messy and curly to straight like never before after just 3 days Thank you-

Maquel Pagulayan: All the matters with my hair is in this video. Glad I've seen it. Thanks!

Nathan Duffy: I try washing my hair at least every 2 to 3 days, depends how my hair feels. I have short hair so I don't need to use much shampoo and thanks for the tip on conditioning my hair for at least a minute or 2, I don't think I knew how long you should have conditioner in your hair.

Skyler Knight: I was a bit skeptical of the argan oil but I decided to buy it back when there was a discount and I can attest that it’s really nice. Initially it leaves a shine on your hair but that goes away after a bit and if you use matte styling hair products it’s totally fine. It does smell pretty good imo and I’m definitely gonna buy more. I don’t have issues with oily hair though so I might have a different experience with it than others

Blade_Grinder: I have short hair as you can see in my photo, so I only wash my hair about one time a week, using the same amount of shampoo, ofcourse, but only once a week, because I wear a cap at work. I got that tip from my boss. It's worked out pretty good.

man fat lol: i’ve been doing the waiting thing for conditioner my entire life and my hair is soft but i’ve never put that much effort into washing it out. Now I watched a video a while back that said if your hair is too soft you can’t get much volume, so I was just wondering if it’s the softness of the hair, me not washing it out properly, or both, that could be why I don’t have much volume?

Jeeva Shetti: Great content as always...I have a question, what should guys with extremely dry hair do to moisturize them along with shampooing less ? Something between the two shampoo sessions

MrVisso: Ive never tried drying my hair with a hair dryer. i always use a towel. But yesterday i tried the hair dryer and I LOVE IT!

Monke: No matter how many videos i watch or products i use my hair will always be the same. Its dry, wavy/curly and just fine. I would love to keep having longish hair but it looks like i cant anymore, i have to go really short

Fer: I use the Forte series shampoo and conditioner. They work like magic! My hair feels amazing after the shower and all day. I’m also looking forward to the hair mask!

HarshCodes: Thank you so much!!! I wasnt knowing that i was washing my hair very aggressively, which caused hair breakage. Perfect Timing Alex! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Mateen Aze: Thanks! This is helpful, especially for those with long hair like me

Arnab Sadhukhan: I haven't used shampoo for 4 months now. Only used Conditioners to do the job. The hair definitely looks and feels better.

kara Aditya: Man..Alex is the one who always makes my..day! You have really changed my..Life bro✌

Isubki: I shampoo only tuesday and friday and i can say that my hair got thicker and much more wavy. It has much more texture now and its better.

Urvish Chonkar: Hey Alex am a teen from india. And I watch your videos oftenly to make myself better day by day. My only request to you is, please make a video on skin care routine and hair health for your fans from India. I am highly impressed and inspired by your videos and I want to know about the tips and tricks that I should use in a country prone to sunlight.❤️@alexcosta

Clayton De Freitas: Thanks man you are excellent answered some questions for me …I not too long ago got into the no shampoo time you speak about just letting water go through the hair ,the oils hold and it’s much easier to style and dry …

Kibutsuji Muzan: hey Alex! you're a blessing man. It's been long since I commented on your video but i want your advice badly man. my hair are in between straight and curved like they are 3 quarters straight and curve majorly at the end so it is hard to decide which hairstyle to choose. if they are short they don't look good. should i try increasing length more? the longest my hair have been are till my chin. please help me out man. i'll be grateful

7A18Jalaj Gupta: 2:19 Thank u so much for telling this bro! ♥ This is the biggest mistake of mine, and this is also one of the cause of my acne probably.

Saurabh Sharma: I saw lot of video on hair wash or hair care but your tutorial is best among all. Thank You for sharing this amazing tricks to us man <3

Zak Sarwar: hi alex, do you have any tips on how to reverse grey hair in teens, i havent got alot of grey hairs but it is still quite visible

TAHA AKHTAR: Because of you alex I get to know about fashion and how to do my body care and I started working out also and I am doing my skin care also and I buy sulphate free shampoo also because if seeing you I can see my results I am soo much thankful to you ☺️❤️ love you and big fan

Nishan Tamrakar: You are getting better day by day alex♥️

Sujan Tapol: 1. Why Shampoo ? • How To Use? 2. Conditioners • How To Use? 3. Hair Mask 4. How Often Wash Your Hair? 5. Don’t Be Aggressive

Nasser Andeez: Thank you for this video, my hair is getting better by the day :)

Akshay Arul: When it comes to Hair, the videos by Alex Costa are legendary stuff, this is my most favorite

Jared X Rawlings: Alex feels like the most genuine and original influencer on here. Him and BluMaan.

Raybanz DaMan: I only use shampoo once a week then for the rest of the week I only use conditioner. I’ve been doing it wrong for years but now I know shampoo is bad for your hair if used all the time. I also use this hair food that’s rly good and leaves my hair shiny lol

Darren Rondael: OMG! so im doing a lot of mistakes on shampooing my hair! Thanks for this video!

Corey Wright: Still have yet to check out the Shampoo/Conditioner but LOVING the Texture Spray and Sea Salt spray!

christeder: Never thought i will watch these kind of videos... but i must say that great content! Interesting to explore and be more aware! Keep it up Alex!

El Goofy: You know for a channel that talks about hair advice, not once have I heard you talk about how to take care of hair for those who have "low porosity hair", everything you told us is cool and stuff for high porosity, but those who don't have that kind of hair makes us feel forgotten because normally there are not much information on how properly take care of it or to style or anything else is never spoken and to be frank its kind of a shame because it is also hard to understand what me must do, I hope to see this in the future that our hair type is taken more in consideration so that we can also join in the fun of having great hair like you. In other words we also want to be part of the group ✌

MustafaB: Trust me I used to shampoo every day to wash my hair, as most of the time I am in the field which makes hair dusty, now I realize that this is the reason that my hair is getting dry due to shampoo and not in the being out there. Nice and Knowledgeable Video, thanks a lot. Can you make a video on daily hack for healthy hair or product to be used daily for growth and health?

Atharva More: Please make these products available in India too

Alex Reyna: damn the hair is looking like literal gold Alex thx for making vids like this to help us get Lucious hair. this video is gold

Mykan A Vazquez: Could you use Shampoo and Conditioner at the same time?

Man with no name: I’ve been washing my long hair (longer than his) with just water for 1,5 years, every 5 days or so. no shampoo at all. I can only recommend it. also use olive oil on your scalp and hair. never had hair that good without chemicals!

Akash: Thanks a lot Alex for tips,i m starting to grow my hair from past month and will let it grow untill it touches my lips or something, and i m 17 and waiting for a glowup...

Adarsh Dalvi: Hey Alex , love your videos and tips.. please make forte products available in India

A J: Never realized there was right and wrong ways to wash hair..this falls under "the more you know" thanks Alex

pcpcowboy: whenever I use conditioner my hair gets oily and flat, what can i do to prevent that?

THE MAGPIE L: Thank you Alexa Costa for this information because I don't even know how to wash my hair at the age 19. Surely I will wash my hair tomorrow

Dark Gladiator: Alex Is like my guardian angel ... He's always there when i am in need ❤️✨

Mohan: I am 23 and I was using shampoo everyday and wondering why my hair feels like dessert like too much dry. Thanks Alex.. try to invest in hair products after I make more money than living

Ajaybhai Shah: I like debasing the hair with a Arm & Hammer baking soda (extremely high premium quality), and one can get a huge bag at Sam's Club. Certain things one purchases at these bulk retail (g?)iants and certain things at small stores like Aldi's. The b. soda mixes well with warm water and doesn't even clump which is counter-instinctive.

md parwez: Love you bro...stay safe and keep making such videos ❤️

Klay Antone: Aye Alex I'm curious on what temperature you should use when washing your hair?

A. Rods: Dude, how long did it take your hair to grow that long? I've been thinking about letting mine be that long, you know

A_19_Kártik: Alex: use conditioner for 2 minutes on hair it will be 10x better. Me:who use it for ½ hour which makes it 100x times better Alex❤

tai sealey: For dandruff or dry hair mix apple cider vinegar with shampoo and apply to hair and use the claw softly. Then use a conditioner to add the oils and moisture back and use the claw, then completely get all the conditioner out. For regular people. Wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner 2-3 times a week and get all the conditioner out. Make sure u use a the claw or a scalp massager and do it not to hard.

Dilip mandale: Alex I've a question , should we wash our hair with hard water or soft water? Which is better

quick tips: My suggestion: put correct amount of pure sesame oil in scalp and leave for 30mins or 10mins and after wash with ur shampoo. But masaage; it will make a lot more relaxation and feel fresh. From india

Duduha Khiangte: I wash my hair everyday that's why it so dry and not silky ...now I'll wash it only 4 times in a week or maybe 3 times!

Simon: The every second day shampoo rule; is this only for hair or also for the whole body? greetings from Austria

Future Demon: I love these types of videos and I love the channel keep it up!

gta player kid Senack: I've said it before and I'll say it again this video makes me glad I have a mom who's a barber I can get my hair cut for free and I don't have to go to the store like say walmart and spend a shitload of money on men's heir care products bc my mom can tell the best way to take care of my hair or tell what shoopoo I should be using or tell me the best way to wash my heir and I live on a fixed income so having a mom that cuts plls heir for a living is the next best thing next to this guys video lol

Truer words have never been spoken, My Princess!: I only wash my hair with shampoo once a week or twice max, I also use vinegar product's. There are many natural based product's that are healthier for your body, I use olive oil to moisturize my hair

Walter Drinkwater: HELP: How often can you blow dry your hair?

Amar jeet: Hey Alex should I apply conditioner to my scalp also? Or only to the hair. Please tell me.

InfamousSTH281: Besides your Forte Series collection and products, which conditioners you prefer for repairing and restoring your hair more effectively if i shop some cheap stores like: Target, Walmart, or any hair salon stores?

Skillset: Dandruff is a curse and I'm hoping doing this works because it's been going on for a year now despite constant efforts to shampoo daily, I blame having rough hair

Joseph: alex thx for the tips.... always love ur vids and would try these tips nowww!!! ❤️

Lijoy Mathew: How long should the shampoo should be kept?

CC Automotives: Hey Alex, could you make a video about how to keep a good relationship when you just started something with a girl? Talk about stuff together? Anything to avoid at first? Being too clingy? Things like that. Thanks bro, love the videos!

Zyntril: 3:43 Says on the hair conditioning product some are 1 min some are 5 min like mine... 5:40 Once every two weeks, after having done this for a long period of time your hair will get less and less oily

Pranay Vijay: Thank you Alex. Really needed this video.

Shubham Jha: I didn't know about that claw trick but I think it will help me so thanks alex you are always informative Love from INDIA ❤️

KeyserSoze088: Teens these days are lucky to have YouTube and people like alex.

Vansh Singla: Alex my QUESTION :- DO WE HAVE TO USE OIL AFTER DOING SHAMPOOO. IF I USE OIL THEN MY HAIR LOOKS STICKY BUT IF I DONT USE , MY HAIR BECOMES DRY AND FRAGILE. WHAT IS THE SOLUTION?

Anna Harutyunyan: The problem is not the grease alone. If I don‘t wash with shampoo daily, my scalp gets very itchy and kind of dandruffy. It goes as far as to feeling inflamed, slightly burning and itching like crazy. I envy people who don’t need to wash their hair with shampoo every single day. I wish I could do that, but there is absolutely no way for me. It is so annoying to wash daily. I hate it. It also makes my hair too soft and eliminates all natural hold. Anyway, I prefer this over constant itching. This situation makes me very sad to be honest. Anyone else?

Krish Patel: Should conditioner be applied on scalp ?

Saffi Alli: Hey Alex. Love all your vids. As a long time subscriber, I want to know if there any solutions if your are experiencing hair loss everyday.

Julian R: Bro thank you! This is the best video so far about hair washing!

Deependra Kumar Saxena: Hey Alex, I am a teen and losing hair, if you could recommend something to grow back hair thicker and denser. It would be a real help for us guys. ‍♂️

Paul Harris: Dude’s so influential, immediately after watching this video, I jumped in the shower, washed my hair with a claw-like motion, patted it dry, then blow dried my hair into that exact style. But, which product is the best to use for that style? I just want a little bit of hold without it being glued into place.

Phalguni Khilar: Hey alex, are these products available in India ?

torch live: im a teen and im trying to go for a eren type hairstyle. any tips on what to do for the ears and how to grow it out faster?

Luis Solorzano: For shampoo and conditioner. What temperature you use? Cold or warm? Also with blow drying the hair? You blow dry with hot or cool?

res: Something thats a problem for me is, i work out 5 days a week right, i wash my hair on friday so it can be nice and clean for the weekend. But, after i wash my hair, i have to straighten it out with a ghd iron, because my hair is so wavy and curly and it just doesn't suit me to look like that, so i straighten it out, but that means i cant shower again until friday because then my hair will get wet and it will make it go curly again, and i workout 5 days a week, so all that sweat and stuff is still in there. My parents wont let me get it keratin treatment so it will stay straight forever so im kinda in a ditch
