How'S, your hair, i mean how's the health of your hair. I don't mean like. Are you having a good hair day, because you know that can differ from day to day? Right i want to know like? Is your hair healthy? Do you feel like it's healthy? Does it feel good? My hair is probably the healthiest it's been and i'm 53.. My hair is probably the healthiest. It'S been in a very very long time, because i finally know what to look for when i'm buying shampoo and conditioner we're going to talk about a few things today, and one of the things may be if you've noticed that you're losing a lot of hair. This may be the reason. So how is your hair today, i'm dawn from just doing my best, and this is my series on tips for having healthy, mature hair if you've never been here before. Welcome i'm so glad that you're here and if you're back welcome back. I'M here every week with a brand new video for women over 40 and women over 50, who just want to look and feel our very best and we're talking about hair. I'Ve done several videos now on just again tips for having healthy, mature hair. Today, we're going to talk about shampoo and conditioner, i'm going to give you some ingredients that i want you to look for and because i value your time, this video is actually in two parts, so we're gon na have one part right now, i'm gon na give You a little bit of homework and then we're gon na come back for part two. So, let's jump right in and let's talk about what you should be looking for when you're buying shampoo and conditioner, and you know what, if you get value from this today and you enjoy it, i would love for you to show this video. Some love like it and subscribe okay. What should you be looking for when you buy shampoo and conditioner first thing that i want you to be looking for, are sulfates and then parabens and then silicones and i'm going to tell you not necessarily in that order. We'Re not going to talk about like okay. What'S the 27 letter word that you should be looking for we're going to make it really easy, and i'm just going to have you really and truly look at the front of the label? Look at the front of the package look at front of the box. They'Ve probably already told you most companies are already on board with all of the buzzwords they're already saying: we're sulfate free we're, paraben free, we're silicone free. So, first of all, why do you want to avoid those things? Sulfates? Those in a nutshell are very harsh detergents and when i say detergent, i'm really talking about detergent. Harsh sulfates are the things that you're going to find in your really heavy duty, cleansers anything from dish, soap to laundry soap, to floor, cleaner and when you have sulfates in your cleansers or any of your beauty, products they're very damaging, they're, very drying because their job Sulfate'S job is to get all of the dirt off right and think about it when you're trying to scrub a floor or scrub your dishes. In order for you to really get all of the yuck off, you've really got to get in there and scrub right or use something really powerful. That'S what sulfates do they're just super harsh super drying, super aggressive cleansers and they can be really harsh and really drying. Not only on your hair but on your scalp. So that's why you want to look for sulfates. What are parabens parabens are in sister. Oh, my gosh parabens are in everything head to toe everything, and excuse me in a nutshell: parabens are considered toxic okay when they get into your body when they get into your bloodstream. They are labeled as cancer causing agents. So you want to use as many products as you can that are paraben free, so sulfate, free and paraben free. Let'S talk about silicone for a minute in a minute i'm going to share with you some products that you can look for, that are um harsh sulfate, free they're, paraben, free and they're. Silicone free go below this video in the description and i will leave you some links in part, two we're going to talk about what you can find at the drugstore, so silicones silica. Okay, let me back up just for a second. I want you to think about when you think of the word silicone. What is it plastic, essentially right, think about silicone if you've ever had a silicone spatula, if you've ever had those sheets that you bake your cookies on, you know that are silicone or um. Rubber gloves are a really good example. You put rubber gloves on. You can wash dishes, you can scrub floors, you can do everything all day long and it doesn't hurt your hands. That'S what silicones do to our hair. Basically, it's plastic and it's completely coating your hair. So now i want you to think about this. If you've ever used a product on your hair and thought, my hair looks amazing, like oh, my gosh, i just got this brand new, whatever fill in the blank shampoo conditioner deep conditioner whatever, and you go. Oh my gosh. My hair feels amazing. Okay, probably because it's brand new, you got a new formula. There are all those silicones in there if you ever watch the commercials - and it says: shiny, hair, okay, it's because of the silicones, so you've got this brand new formula in this brand new product that you bought and it makes your hair look gorgeous right. Okay, it's all of the silicones and what it does. Is it just those silicones just coat your hair again, silicone. It'S plastic completely coating your hair, so initially, when you first use it you're going to be like my hair, looks amazing and it's going to be all shiny and wonderful and then, after a while you're, just like oh my gosh, my hair looks disgusting. It'S flat. It'S gross, it feels gummy. You can't go a day without washing it or two days or you know three days. I'Ve never been two or three days, but some people are, you know they can't go very long without washing it. It'S because all of those silicones have built up and what they're doing is they're completely closing off your hair. Okay, your hair can't breathe nothing good is getting in there. So if you've ever had a lot of hair loss - and you couldn't think of why, like okay, you know life is stressful. Hello, married kids, work, whatever life is stressful, but you know hasn't been like super stressful. I haven't been sick. I can't eat. Why is all my hair falling out that silicone could be just completely closing off your hair and now it can't breathe and what happens if you can't breathe if your plants can't breathe whatever they just die and fall out? That could be the reason for some excessive hair loss. That'S why we need to get rid of silicones out of our products and that's why i want you to read the labels, because any good company is going to put right on the front of the container. No harsh sulfates, no parabens, no silicones. I recently did a video along this same line about taking you know the ingredients out of your products watching the labels and it was about deep conditioning. So i will link that so, when you're done with this video, you could go watch that video about uh, deep conditioning and if you're, looking for more product suggestions and even outfit ideas, be sure to come over and find me on facebook or instagram. At just doing. My best and also pinterest - and i will leave all those links below i want you to watch for products that really put everything they're really up front and they put everything on the label. So here are two brands that i'm loving right now. One is living proof and the other one is briogeo. So let's talk about living proof now living proof. I have tried several times and it wasn't until i really started learning and diving deep into sulfates, parabens and silicones that i started being a little bit more faithful. So living proof is a little bit pricier, but i want to say this always try to find some of these brands, especially if they're a little bit more high-end. Try to find um sample sets starter sets, or they may even call them travel sizes. That'S a great way to jump in i'll talk about that with the shampoo in just a second, i love getting these little kind of um. Try me sets and living proof has one that's a detox set. I would love for you to start there if they still have that available. If not, you can just buy the shampoo by itself, but start with that detox set, because what that's really going to do is going to detox your hair. It'S going to get all of that off of your hair, all of the silicone that's just been building up and building up and building up, especially if you haven't been looking at the ingredients. You'Ve got a lot on there that needs to come off right, so living proof. I tried their detox set um. This is another great little set right here. I will leave links in the description below this is the hydration and repair set, and i got a um trial size conditioner. I got a trial size shampoo. It also came with the restore perfecting spray. I love this for spraying in your hair before blow drying. I did a video about that too. I will leave you a link here, um, but their detox set or their hydration and repair either. One is good. I recommend, though, starting with the detox set, starting with their basic shampoo, to really jump in and get all of that off your hair and i'm going to tell you something. Here'S what i found when i first started detoxing my hair and i used the living proof. Detox shampoo, if your hair is like mine, i hated it. I thought this is the worst thing ever who, in their right mind, is recommending this here's the thing i don't have a lot of hair. I'Ve never had a lot of hair. It'S very straight and i've got a lot of garbage built up on my hair, so i needed to use that detox shampoo for about and if you get it with instructions, it tells you on the instructions. It'S going to. Take you three to five to maybe nine shampoos before you really see the difference and you finally get some really good hair out of it and really start to see the benefits. So that was the living proof and honestly, i'm still not in love kind of with the way my hair feels after using the shampoo. You know because i know i know it's just stripping all the yuck off of my hair, but still, but i love the way it feels when you put the conditioner on. Let'S talk about the briogeo, i love this brand. If you saw my video about the deep conditioning um, that's the brand that i used and again another company that puts right on the side of the label, all the things that they've left out and it tells you it's six free, so they've left out harsh sulfates Parabens, silicones phthalates, artificial dyes and dea, they tell you right on the box, that's what you want. So i love this set right here and they give you some really good size pieces in this set. You get a really good size, shampoo conditioner, and they give you the conditioning mask which i love, and then i just use it. When i use this brand, i follow it up with their farewell frizz, just a little pea size amount before i blow dry, my hair, i love briochio. I do so whether you try living proof or you try briogio. I think you'll love them both. I would hate to say which one i love the best, but if, if i had to choose, i might say briogio, i just love the way my hair feels when i've shampooed and conditioned and i did the deep conditioning and then i put a just a piece Size amount of this in before i blow-dry my hair has never felt or looked better than after i use this set. I love it so much. Okay, i've, given you two great brands to go out and to check out to just restore the health of your hair. Now i've also told you what to look for in your ingredients, so my homework for you before you watch part two of this video. I want you to go in your bathroom, go in your shower and look at your products that you're already using. If it doesn't say on the label, go on their website and check it out, are they sulfate free? Are they paraben free? Are they silicone free, go check it out for yourself all right in the next video we're going to talk about what to look for at the drugstore for now. I hope that you'll, like this video, give it a thumbs up and subscribe share it with your friends. Come over and find me on facebook or instagram at justdoingmybest, go out today and be blessed and do your best.
