Hey everyone. My name is helen. Welcome to the shrimpy meaty channel, thanks so much for joining me here today I was at Marshalls and I was doing what I do best at Marshalls, which is spending money. I walk them over to the shampoo area, which I love to do to see what they have and what caught my eye, but the ugliest bottles of shampoo that I think I've ever clapped my eyes on you've seen it. You know it is good old, mane and tail Shampoo, neither of which I have ever used before, even though they are highly regarded in the hair loss community, which i am part of, I struggle with hair loss. I use Rogaine, I use minoxidil. I try all the tricks and tips that there are to deal with hair loss until you'll find a lot of that here on my channel, but I spotted these and I thought you know what I should do is shampoo review. I'Ve never done one here I mean I bought like little bits on other videos about shampoos. I'Ve tried before on my Holy Grail, shampoos and stuff, like that that I like, but never a specific shampoo review. So let's get right into it. I just want to tell you a bit about my hair just so that you can sort of compare it. Maybe where you're coming from my hair is undyed and uncolored, so I don't color my hair. I definitely have a few white hair starting to come in. My scalp is pretty normal. It is not too flaky or too dry or anything like that. As I said before, I use Rogaine and minoxidil, which is an over-the-counter medication that stimulates hair growth. My hair itself is I'm gon na, say pretty average, probably a bit on the dry side. I wash my hair every second day. I try it sometimes every third day try not to go more than every two days, though I just find that my hair looks its best and it's the most manageable when I do it that way. So those are some of the basics about my hair, and so now, let's just get into these bottles. I bought the shampoo original and I decided to get the conditioner as well. Why not and just get into a first reaction of course, the most important thing for many many people is the scent of a shampoo, and I am no different. I'M such a sucker for a nice scent. So, let's get right in here crack this open and have a sniff, hmm, hey. It has a really retro shampoo scent and if you don't know what I mean it's not very strongly floral, it's not very strongly herbal or herbal. I there it's not at all spicy, it smells like something from the 80s, which I know is like older than many of you, but you'll just have to trust me on this one. It is just a very, very soft, almost feminine scent. It just smells like soap. Let'S take a sniff of the conditioner: now it's actually stronger the conditioner. This original conditioner scent is actually quite a bit stronger than the shampoo, which is kind of interesting, but it smells like it's in the same family that the scents are very very similar to each other. I would say you probably won't have an issue with the scent of this is definitely not strong coming out of here anyway, but of course, we'll know after we try it and I'm gon na try it three times. So I'm just gon na talk a little bit about it before I actually use it and then I'll give you. I won't just do like one time. I don't think that's enough personally, like I don't think, is enough to judge a shampoo. I think you need to use it three times. I will judge it on what it's like. I will judge it a bit on the hair loss situation. The thing about shampoos and hair loss is, there are tons of like shampoos that are supposed to help with hair loss. But if you watch what other doctors and dermatologists say, they usually say they don't put too much faith in shampoos for hair loss issues. One of the reasons is that a shampoo has to stay on your head for seven minutes, for it to even have any effect to penetrate the actual skin, which is what your scalp is. Obviously it is skin, so yeah, I'm not too too sure about about the hair loss aspect of it. I'M not gon na have any super high hopes that this is gon na reduce hair loss, but if it does I'll, let you know about it. Let'S see what it says here on the back directions for human use: directions for animal you seriously. It actually says that back here I don't know if it's a marketing thing. I almost I've heard that people have used this on horses. I mean there is a horse and it does say mane and tail, but I don't know if anybody actually does that. That would seem kind of expensive. I would think that there would be some sort of larger size version of like, wouldn't if you were washing a horse seriously when it take this whole container like wouldn't you need a much larger commercial size like veterinary style. I don't know, I don't know if that is a weird thing to read on the back of this I'll. Tell you what, though, that does kind of worry me a bit. It says in it's an exclusive original formula containing high lathering cleansing ingredients fortified with moisturizers and emollients okay, so that last part is good. The moisturizer, moisturizers and emollients sound good, but high lathering people. We know that those highlighter and shampoos sometimes tend to be drying. So I'm not too sure I'm actually a little bit nervous. This is really gon na dry out my hair, but I will do it for you guys I'll do anything for you guys. Let'S see what the conditioner says: exclusive original highly concentrated formula with the unique action that helps to maintain and chief a longer healthier, looking mane and tail oh, it can also be used as leave-in or rinse out. I'M gon na rinse this out this just my hair cannot deal with any like heavy leave-in stuff, so unless it's specifically and only a leave-in conditioner, I'm not gon na use it for that. So our mother curious to try these now, okay, guys! Well off. We go! I'M gon na try them all, I'm actually filming some other videos, so I just thought I would pop on and tell you guys about my results from my first wash with this and I will get to. I will do it another two times to make sure I'm giving this a really good review, but I just wanted to pop in this ayah immediately had some thoughts that I want to share. I forgot to mention that I have typed to A to B texture hair in terms of wave, and so here my hair is one and a half days after washing it, no heat styling, just air drying, combed it out a bit. So it's looking a bit straighter. My first impression was that it was quite drying, like even in my hand, shampoo itself was kind of on the drying side, like my head felt a little dry even after I used it and getting my hair that first, that first day that I used it a Kind of frizzy appearance that I wasn't loving, but also a very shiny and clean, feel as well so I'll take more into that. I'Ve developed a whole rubric on which I'm going to judge the shampoo and the conditioner so stay tuned. I'Ll tell you all of that! So those are just my first impressions, it's kind of dry and gave me slightly frizzy, ish hair but looks looks pretty good now a day and a half later. I just want to remind you guys if you would like and you would subscribe. That would mean so much to me. It helps support the channel and also I'll be doing more shampoo reviews like this. So if you're curious, one way to make sure that you get these delivered to, you is to subscribe now, keep watching. I'M gon na go through all the readings and give you my final sort of summation after three washes of this. I'Ve done one right now and I think my hair's looking pretty good. Let'S see what happens after a week is passed and I've tried it a number of times. It'S been a week. I'Ve washed my hair three times. I have lots to say about mane and tail shampoo and conditioner, who can go through all the things that you'd be looking for, so that you can make a really good decision about whether you want to buy the shampoo or not. Although keep in mind it's very inexpensive, I checked on target and the price is around six dollars for the shampoo and around six dollars for the conditioner as well, and so that's not even an on sale price. So even for the both of them. It'S twelve dollars which is quite affordable compared to a lot of the expensive shampoos. I'Ve been purchasing so looking without you, I do let's get right into it, have a look at my hair. This is much more volume than you would normally see me and I didn't. I didn't do too much to it again. I just wanted to show you guys. I think I've been about twice the volume right here that I normally would have, and also about twice the frizz. If we're completely honest, I would not go out with my hair. Quite this frizzy, but I really wanted to show to you to give you a sense of how volumizing mane and tail shampoo and even the conditioner is. I have a lot of volume here. So one of the first things I wanted to talk about was thickening and I had to put volumizing in there as well. So yes to the thickening, it does make my hair look, thicker, definitely volumizing. Yes, I would also say that I have a lot more volume that I normally do. I really feel it up at my scalp and I really feel like, even just among the strands themselves, they're all just pushed away from each other. For my hair. I don't think this is the greatest, but if you have really dirty hair or you have a lot of product and built up, this is a serious clarifying shampoo. So that's your vibe and that's what you need. I think you're gon na like it. If your hair is on the drier side, like me, not so sure, I feel that it is pretty shiny, it's hard to see because my hair, so black and a little bit frizzy, but definitely I feel that it's stripped off a lot of whatever was on my Hair product residue some like that, I'm also a broken and minoxidil user. So it definitely took all of that away and left me with a good amount of shine lots of volume. I would guess you would call that bounce as well, so yeah pretty high marks for shine. My next criteria is moisture. No there's no moisture to be found in this shampoo at all. As I said and continue to be the case when I put it in my hand, my hand even felt dry after finishing in the shower just from that small amount of shampoo, this is not a moisturizing shampoo. This is a clarifying shampoo. So if you don't know what the difference is, clarifying means cleaning and moisturizing is obviously a little bit of the opposite of that. It'S not that it doesn't clean. A moisturizing shampoo is supposed to clean, but I also leave your hair, not feeling like this feeling. You know feeling probably a little more ways down for a moisturizing shampoo, and this trends would feel a little smoother. That'S just my analysis of the situation fragrance. Yes, that had a fragrance, as I described before. How long did the fragrance last it didn't last that long there definitely was and is some scent leftover lingering a little bit, but definitely not strong, definitely not like some of the more heavily perfumed and higher-end a lot of higher end shampoos really are kind of perfume For the hair, this one is not so much the case. It just smells clean and fresh the next day. Definitely I think if you're hugging somebody they would get a whiff of your hair and it would smell nice. I don't think you're gon na get a lot of like huge compliments. It'S just a pretty nice inoffensive smell, but it doesn't smell like hair, perfume or anything like that to me anyway. Softness! Oh, hey, my hair is not soft. I'M gon na be honest with you. This feels a bit dry. It almost feels, like I've, been using a protein type shampoo in my hair. This is not a shampoo to leave my hair anyway soft, but I'm already going from a sort of normal dry situation. I'M gon na have to switch now after using this three times. I'M gon na have to definitely switch back to hydrating shampoo and a more hydrating conditioner. I will talk about the conditioner in just a minute. I have some criteria for marking that up as well. No, it's a no for me for the softness it's. This is not soft hair at all cleansing power, Wow, like a plus on the cleansing power for mane and tail shampoo. My hair is so clean. It has not been this clean. I don't know how long it got rid of all that stuff on my scalp. It just powered through everything in my hair, I just left it super squeaky, clean and I need squeaky clean, but I don't always want squeaky, clean hair, because I find that's just too much for me lather. They say that as a high ladder shampoo, it says it right on the instructions on the back of the bottle. I didn't find it to be the case. I use a really small amount of shampoo and I suggest that you guys start using much less shampoo when you have a huge lather in your hair you're using too much shampoo. Take it from me. I'Ve done lots of testing. You don't need to use that much. I stick with about two dime sized amounts. I put them in my palm and I do a double wash so do the first wash that seems to just like loosen everything up. Then you don't get a lot of lather, be warned on the first wash and on the second wash it will lather more, so you just have to kind of trust in the process, but just use much less. You put me a whole video about this about how to reduce hair loss in the shower by and one of the is using less shampoo and another one is just putting your conditioner in a particular way. I will link up that video in case you want to have a look at that's. How did this work for hair loss in general? You know, as I've stated earlier, shampoo doesn't do a lot to actually prevent hair loss. What is more effective? In my experience, it's just washing your hair a little bit more often to make sure that you're ridding it of things that can be clogging the scalp and that's just advice from dermatologists. You might have DHT on your scalp, and the best thing to do, for that is to remove it by cleaning it as a whole of this story pull up a video for another day. I didn't find this like. I didn't lose a lot of hair and I didn't not lose a lot of hair. It was just very normal in terms of that for me and now, let's move on and now, let's move on to who this shampoo is best for, if you have dry hair, I would say this is maybe not the shampoo for you unless you've got a really Long time where you suffer from a lot of buildup on your hair, this shampoo is gon na, be amazing if you have a lot of hair and if you have oily hair - and I did have that kind of hair once upon a time like if you're in Your teens and you have a super oily head of hair or if someone has to wash every second day, try this shampoo, it's a really good. It definitely does a great job of really getting really deep down in there giving you an amazing clean, but I'm gon na say the chef who's not for me with my type of hair. It also will bring up more wave. So if you're a wavy and you're not really sticking to the curly girl method, because it does have ingredients that are not curly girl method approved. So if you're, strictly curly girl method, the shampoo you can't use it, it's got ingredients that you can't use, but if you're not - and you just want to have a bit more wave in your hair and you're, not having the dryness issues that I have, it seems To really brought out my wave pattern, this is more wave Venus than I would normally have with my moisturizing shampoo, which ways my hair down a little bit more, but also makes it softer. You know these things are a trade-off overall. I liked the shampoo it's not particularly for me. I'M gon na give it like a solid B. That'S the rating. I would give maintenance, Heil shampoo and now, let's move on to the conditioner, so the criteria for conditioner are gon na, be a little bit different. One thing, but I'll tell you that I noticed right off the bat with this conditioner that is supposed to go along with the shampoo is that the smell smell really complement, so they pretty much smell the same. That means they layer nicely you're, not gon na with that's very different from the conditioner than the shampoo. I needed a lot of it. That was the first thing I noticed. I need maybe double the amount of the shampoo that I normally use, and usually I don't need that much like that. Much conditioner, I use a favorite high-end conditioner by Kerastase, and this one I need maybe twice I probably could have gone in there with an extra handful, two, maybe even three times the amount I normally use. The weight of it is very, very light and I think that's the reason I needed so much once you put it in it's almost like you haven't for my hair anyway, probably cuz, it's dry, it's almost like I haven't. I hadn't done anything else. So if there's someone kind of skimps on the conditioner or finds regular conditioner is too heavy. This conditioner could be a great product for you, and maybe it's even when you want to buy on a standalone basis. Maybe you don't want the conditioner, but you really need a lightweight conditioner. I would recommend it in that regard. It is quite nice in that way, you do need a lot of it, though so you're gon na be going through. That conditioner, I'm pretty sure much faster than you'll, be going through the shampoo, which is just an interesting thing to note. Another interesting thing to note is that the conditioner bottle weighs more than the conditioner shampoo. I didn't weigh them, but I could feel in my hand the conditioner is more weighty, which makes sense because it probably is less water in it and heavier ingredients. All that said you need quite a bit of it should be effective. I mean look. I used quite a bit and my hair still looks kind of frizzy. I'M not gon na lie, so, if you're tuning with friends, this might not be their product for you who's the best. For again this I think, mane and tail conditioner is best for someone with. Maybe hair that doesn't need a ton of conditioner, because you're gon na be going to town. I think that if you have a moderate or medium amount of hair, it's probably best for you. If you have a lot of hair, I feel, like I don't know and really long hair. I feel like you're gon na need, like a good, I don't know core. I also want to say, like a quarter of a cup, to really get through all your hair and to really scrunch it in there and make sure that all the strands from the midst the ends are coated. I don't know that's just my take on it. I'M also gon na give the conditioner a be. I would like it to be a bit more effective for what it is. I don't think you should need triple the amount of another type of conditioner. I use other L'Oreal products. Finally, don't need triple the amount of conditioner for those, so there's something about this formula. That just is just not super effective when it comes to conditioning, but it is very light. So again I trade off so solidly for both of those. That is my review on main and tail shampoo and conditioner, and I just want to say thank you so much for spending your time here with me and listening to what I have to say about this shampoo, I hoping to make lots more of these. I had so much fun. I love shampoo. I love shampoo with you, our favorite drop it below. Let me know and the notes maybe I'll, try it out and make a review on that thanks. So much we'll see you soon.

jelly: If you're experiencing bad hair loss, please keep reading, it's long but might be worth it. I hope this shampoo continues to exist for the rest of my life. I'm 43 and I had been experiencing a fair amount of hair loss for years (since my son was born), but nothing too extreme or noticeable. In 2020, it being the most stressful year of my entire life, I started losing a severe amount of hair (that's how my body manifests stress). To the point where it was definitely very noticeable (with balding primarily on the sides of my head toward my crown and in the front of my head, on my hairline, where it's almost impossible to hide). I tried so many different shampoos, home remedies, hair growth oils, egg masks, rice water, etc etc etc. You name it, I tried it. But nothing, nothing worked. One day I remembered the mother of my high school boyfriend, she had this beautiful long lush hair, at what I imagine was my age now and I remember her mentioning she only used Mane and Tail. So I decided to give it a shot. Almost immediately, after the 1st wash I noticed an improvement in the amount of hair the came out during/after my shower. After about a week of using this shampoo, the hair loss was pretty much gone. I could hardly believe it. But it held. A few months ago I went camping and decided to just use the same shampoo my son uses, I used it for 3 days and my hair fall started to increase. So that reinforced that it's this shampoo that prevents my hair loss. I can't say I don't lose hair anymore, I do, but it's really quite minimal; this shampoo has truly given me my life back. It's devastating, especially being a female, to experience balding. I want to mention that this balding is not hereditary, my 79 year old mom had more hair than I did at my worst towards the end of 2020 early 2021. I have never used the conditioner, only the shampoo. My hair is stronger, healthier and after several months of using this shampoo it's definitely fuller. I can't say this shampoo made my hair "re-grow", but it stopped it from falling out at such an alarming rate. So very slowly, my hair has been re-growing and filling in at a slow pace, but it's happening. I 100% recommend this shampoo to combat hair loss. I hope this helps someone.

danypooh1617: I’m a black woman with natural curly hair and as a kid my grandmother used this on our hair all the time. As an adult, I’ve gone back to it and my hair has grown longer and my curls are more defined!

Alice L: If you find it too drying, mix it 50/50 with a moisterizing shampoo. This way you get the strenght, shine and volume without the drying. This is how I use it. Personally also feel that it helps with losing less hair and growing my hair longer than before I used it.

susan pace: This shampoo and conditioner WAS originally for horses. BUT the people that had the horses noticed that in bathing their horses they would get product on their skin and hair. They liked what it done for them. Word of mouth, and it grew. Mane and tail is great. Both products . The hoofmaker product came about in the same way.

Rather B Hunter than Prey: I used this for 25 years. I was a hairdresser back in the 80s and 90s and customers would ask what I used. I would say " you know, that horsey shampoo". They thought I was joking. During menopause Thu my hair really started falling out so it's been like 10 years trying to find something that will help. Maybe I'll just go back to my horsey shampoo!!l lol

Winter: I was in a wedding and the lady that did me and kids hair used this and i fell in love. Went and bought the deep moisturizing shampoo and conditioner yesterday. The conditioner surprised me how moisturizing it was. I'm sold

Janet Williams: I used this when I was in my 20's and remember stopping because it made my hair so thick to handle my short cut, relaxed hair styles. Now I'm 50 natural hair, no Relaxer. And my hair is thin. My daughter and I have been doing the natural hair process but our hair is thin. She decided to use this and I said I would try also. We are wanting thickness and hair length. So just did my first shampoo with molasses, mixed together. And Design Conditioner. And I really liked how my hair felt after. The process has my curls really defined. I will continue to use. Hoping to see good results

Alicia Altom: I used this all the time as a kid (mane and tail) I've been co sidering buying it again after all these yrs to see how my hair would react. I always had long healthy hair as a kid. Now it's kinda bland and limp. I have thick and heavy hair. Low wave. Getting better at nit washing as much and that has helped.

trublgrl: I tried Man & Tail probably in my twenties, and have switched off of it a few times, but I keep coming back to it. I have fairly curly Type 3 hair, and if I'm out in the world, I pretty much need to use product in my hair before I leave the house. Little gel, little hairspray, leave-in conditioner, silicon anti-frizz serum, and that gets my hair looking limp and horrible in a couple days. Mane & Tail makes my hair feel brand new every time I shampoo. You can sort of FEEL that all the gunk is gone in two quick and painless lather/repeat cycles. I don't use the Mane & Tail conditioner, though, I found it really doesn't make my hair feel hydrated and soft like say, Pantene, Aussie, even Tresseme. I hate to spend a fortune on Shampoo and conditioner, and M&T is a really good deal, it doesn't take much to get your hair squeaky clean. And yes, Man & Tail is in fact, horse shampoo. When it first came out, you had to buy it in like 1 or 5 gallon buckets. I remember when I was little, seeing it on the news as a "beauty secret".

Deborah Bertolino: I am enjoying your videos! I had telogen effluvium two years ago and I am still losing a lot of hair since then, probably also due to the fact that I am postmenopausal as well. I have found that a bit more natural shampoos are the best option for me and they are inexpensive. One of my favorite lines is Carol’s Daughter. The shampoos are between 10 and $14 a bottle. You can find them at your local drugstore but to get the ones that I like I have to order online through their website. I believe you can also find them on Amazon.

Jessica The Furologist: Mane N Tail has huge amounts of Horse Keratin in it. When using for horses it’s supposed to be diluted in a big bucket of water and then used on the horse. For people It has some different reactions and is suggested to not be diluted for our use. For me I have very dry and somewhat course and very curly hair. When using this for about 3 months my hair was rebuilt back (I had badly damaged hair from a stylist bleach job) and it became very soft and very moisturized and my curls came back even better and stronger. But after 3 months my hair became dry and frizzy. That’s because my hair was getting too much keratin at that point from it and I needed to switch. That’s probably why you had the dry non moisture reaction, cause your hair had enough keratin in its shafts already and giving it more caused that reaction. A lot of people have been seeing this effect. Truly this set is meant for hair that needs keratin so badly and has been stripped of it. Not hair that has lots of keratin already and doesn’t need it. I now use Virtue which is the only hair shampoo/conditioner product that uses Human Keratin. Everyone else uses horse and chicken keratin. They have two different lines, Recovery for people who need their hair to be recovered after like bleach jobs, constant heat styling, basically harsh styling routines and such in their hair and need that extra keratin. And forgot the name of the other line but it’s for every day use and for those that don’t need their hair rebuilt and don’t do much with their hair as for as styling, bleaching, etc and therefore don’t need the extra keratin. I would love to see you possibly use that brand and see you review it!

Sara: The original mane and tail shampoo and conditioner dried out my hair. Resulted in super greasy roots and dry ends. The deep moister mane and tail products made my hair super greasy and didn’t really make my hair feel clean even at the ends. But the herbal gro mane and tail shampoo and conditioner was the perfect balance for me. Hair felt clean and not dry at the ends and not greasy at the roots. I have really bad hair fall out due to being postpartum and the herbal gro products really made a difference in just a couple weeks of using it. No more giant hair balls clogging the drain in the shower.

KeraDee87: It is made for horses! I have used it on mine for years. People noticed what it did for their horses and tried it for thier own hair. It has become more popular so the company started making smaller bottles.

WithMetta: As far as I recall, Mane And Tail was a horse shampoo originally. People with horses started using it and talking about it. Then the maker started selling small and more expensive bottles for humans.

perisankittysk: Just used it for the 1st time and I used the leave in and the shine serum as well. it’s still pretty dry so I see what ur saying but I wanted to try the full line to see the benefits. Nothing makes ur hair grow faster u just need to keep it moisturized so it doesn’t break

Just Ashley Danielle: I’m a curly girl with type 4 high porosity hair. I tried every product and remedy and could not retain moisture in my hair and it was breaking off so much. I remembered I used to use the conditioner as a kid and i picked some up and omg the difference is 180. It’s the only thing I’m using from now on

Dez: You are right this is a very drying shampoo and when the hair is dry the hair strands are a lot thicker which causes the thickness and extra volume. This is a great shampoo and conditioner but I use a deep conditioning mask with it. I use oils with silicones in them so I enjoy this shampoo because it removes the product from my hair and allows me to go longer without washing. A clean scalp means healthy hair , we just have to use extra products to help keep it moisturized from this shampoo

Chezamoonangel AiEmma: Yes I love Mane N Tail original shampo and conditioner makes my hair thicker, fuller, and grows. I was one that used other products and oils and I suffered hair loss and breakage so went back to my oldies products and it works for my ethnic cruly wavy 22 inch one layer hair. I am 33 years old and this works for me, I need to regrow my hair and hair line.

Nona29: Mane n Tail is the truth. Been using it for many years. It will help your hair grow longer and stronger, but you should only use it once a week. You should always use their conditioner with their shampoo. It's a perfect match and will prevent any drying effects.

Flashback80's: I like the Herbal Gro line by Mane N Tail. The original makes my hair break, and fall out like crazy. Especially now that I'm 30 and my hair has gone from super thick to medium fine over the years. I also like to alternate between different shampoos and conditioners like OGX and Redken.

Lacy Treadway: You can always use a leave in conditioner or oil afterwards. When I did the 6 month mane and tail challenge... It made hair grow nearly 6 inches and I have straight thin hair about your length ... And it works... It doesn't stop hairloss but it does help your hair grow if you stick with it you will see a difference. You can use john frieda DE-FRIZZ OIL

Dean Pierson: I LOVE THIS STUFF! I've been using both the shampoo and conditioner for years!! AND ON MY DOG TOO!! I think it dried out your hair because you used it too often. Because like you said it does CLEAN your hair very well! So the natural oils from your scalp never got a chance to replenish your hair. I found with this product I can go 4 even 5 days without washing my hair!! The truth is I have gone 6 or 7 before and use a cute baseball hat!! I was told years ago, the natural oils from your own scalp is the best conditioner there is, so let it do it's job! Human hair was never meant to be washed every day or 2! *** I should note that in the summer when it's super hot and sweaty and I'm washing my hair more often, I do switch to a regular human moisturizing shampoo because I'm washing my hair every 2-3 days! My hair is long, straight, color treated and maybe a tiny bit on the dry side. I use more of 2 quarter size dollops not dime size like you Shrimpy . And twice that of the conditioner, because my hair is so long, almost to my butt. I also use spray-on "12 Benefits" before I blow dry, to keep my hair from breaking when I'm first brushing it out and blow drying it. My hair grows super fast and it's crazy healthy! I gets compliments on my hair all the time! It's by far my best attribute. (Wish I could say that about my butt! LOL) Like I said, I use this on my DOG as well. I have a Shih-tzu with medium length hair, I use both shampoo & conditioner and bath her about every 10 days. Her coat is gorgeous! Thanks Shrimpy, loved your review!

Fatim Nai: Hey guys I found when using this shampoo I find it is better to use a more richer conditioner rather then the matching one to get the full benefits of the shampoo. I used in particular the rich moisture from tresemmé conditioner and it worked a dream. I used it for more hair growth which it helped with rather then hair loss and it worked. I’ve tried both ways for so speaking from my own experience but it’s important to remember everyone can have different experiences☺️. Just for reference I have thin hair but have a lot of it but I try to turn to clean beauty Maui products are pretty good to

SoundSpace: Howdy Y'all! I enjoyed your review, Mane and Tail started out as a horse shampoo and still is. We humans would love for our hair to be as long and shiny as a horse so then we started using it and the company noticed. Many of the Mane and Tail products come in containers as large as a gallon and horse owners dilute the products when washing their animal/pets. This brand is used heavily by us in the south of the U.S. It has a great reputation both in the home and in the stables.

Ellie Nikolova: Horse products are generally expensive, don't think otherwise. I'm a horse person and I recently decided to try these products and I am very happy with them. I can't stand strong smells, Mane and Tail just smells.. clean, like you said, like soap from the 80s. Feels very mild, like baby shampoo. And my hair is really soft afterwards. I have long hair and I've been struggling with knots and tangles a lot, I've tried many different products to help with this but I have to say, Mane and Tail detangler actually really works!

A Jones: The Mane 'n Tail with Biotin makes the hair feel very silky and smooth. My dry, frizzy hair feels much better after using it.

EMR80: I like how it penetrates the scalp. My Mom uses it. She told me my grandma uses. It's soft and easily smelling. Just turned 40.

Bohuslav: Yup, so I know the story about the "animal use/human use" directions, as my family used to have horses. The reason it says "directions for animal use" on the back is because it was originally formulated specifically for horses, and people still use it to bathe horses. For a long time it wasn't meant for humans, but a lot of people used it in place of normal shampoo anyway because it made their horse's coats so sleek and pretty that they thought "why not?" Eventually the company that produces it just started selling it as shampoo as well. However, make sure you get the stuff that doesn't have benzalkonium chloride in it (some main n tail has it, some doesn't, you just have to check the back), because that's toxic to the environment, and it will really dry out your scalp, as well as cause eye irritation if you get it in your eyes.

The Californian Refugee: I used to use this product for a while because my Filipino uncle said, “do you ever see a balding horse?” Haha. I used to buy it by the gallon from a horse feed store. When dealing with animal coats, especially horses, you want a dry coat as it prevents itchiness.

Leslie Thomas: Yassss!! Thank you Lord!! I needed this I have natural curly hair and my curls shrink after washing. Bought this haven’t used it yet. I will tonight! Update: Started a few weeks ago. So far Great!

arwen Rosalie: I had curlyish hair as an infant I was surprised to see my baby pictures. Then O had straight hair with 3 large bumps in the middle of my hair. My baby hairs have always grown curly! In middle school during the mouse and scrunch years lol my hair would get extremely curly and girls would ask me if I naturally had curly hair. Years later (I am 28 now) I tried this shampoo because I ran out and this is what I use on my dog lol. It was just there sitting in my shower so I used it. Next day when my hair dried completley it was very wavy. I didnt even use conditioner. My hair looked so pretty! So now I went out and I will use this continuously for a year and not straighten my hair. Ill see what it does.

nancy reynolds: Thanks for the review. I would love you to review the same brand but in their "deep moisturizing " version. Love your videos; I find them very helpful.

Flower Power: Always read the ingredients and know what’s going to be toxic to the scalp and hair, also eating your nutrients like avocados, omega 3s, protein, vitamin c , fruits, veggies, and a certified vitamin supplement for your hair type and needs.

Alissa Spafford: my hair loved this shampoo and conditioner but it makde my scalp flare up and gave me the worst dandruff i had ever experienced, but on the bright side it works super well for my dog's skin and coat, it works even better than the chi pet shampoos.

Kim S.: Great review Helen and I remember i thought it was drying too - back in the day when i used it x

Seriously Shannon: This stuff is amazing and yes there are HUGE containers that they buy for horse use

Lol Stalkers: I use it when I was in the Philippines it makes my hair smooth, silky and super straight also smells good I'm gonna use it again..

jazzyofficial: I used it in 2018 it worked fir for me with hair growth n it didn't fall out I stopped in 2019 and found something better I just used mane and tail today and I experienced hair loss and my scalp was super dry and in pain lol never again ‍♀️

Debbie Barrett: Yes I used it first time and made frizzy but a really clean shiny look hope it makes my hair grow x

Janel Christine: Yes!! There is a lawsuit on this brand! But ….. Everyone has a lawsuit going on. Everyone’s trying to sue everyone. let’s face it, shampoos have had these ingredients in them for years & everyone reacts to them differently.

Priyanka: Did my first hair wash with this shampoo.. My hair feels soft and manageable... I did do a warm pure coconut oil massage half hour before washing my hair but I have been doing this since long time which is healthy for scalp ans hair but shampoos seemed to dry my hair... But this shampoo didn't dry my hair... I did 3 washes with little amount of shampoo each time (1tsp) as i had too much coconut oil in my hair. So far its all good. Will keep updating here after every wash. Planning on doing 1 wash with this shampoo each week. I use homemade soapnut shampoo other days when I haven't oiled my hair.

Meh!: I have grown my hair down to my waist from a shaved head 4 times. I get it in big bottles at Walmart in the pet isle.

Flashback80's: Girl! Try the Mane N Tail herbal gro shampoo, conditioner, and leave in therapy conditioner spray ❤❤❤ you can find it on Amazon from Straight Arrow.

Megan Fisher: My hair is super dry and so is my scalp but this shampoo works wonders for my hair. I bareky diy my hair(probably have died it only 3 times) i let my hair air dry, and i never straighten it. My hair is super thick and long and gets on my nerves but when i use this shampoo i feel as if my hair is much more easier to handle. Lol. If that makes any sense

Valerie Reel: When my hair is weak I use for a few months I also apply to my ends I have lots of waves some curls and it helps a lot. then swap or it will get dry. And we used with our horses. We didn’t travel with ours but our neighbors did. Great on the road to carry less bottles. Use for the horses and yourself.

Freddy Mercury: Hey, I am considering this shampoo, this is the first review I have seen on youtube which didn't seem sponsored and especially regarding the marketing claims:)

cassie melean: Remember this is horse shampoo so it has way more minerals and a higher dose of Keratin in it. So if you use it too much it will cause damage to your hair.

Gutierrez Gutierrez: I remember horse shampoo my dad use to buy me & my sister it was from the vet it was green & smelled so good it was a little bottle but it made our hair beautiful thick long then years later they stop making that one then come out with mane & tale.

Vivian: I used this shampoo and conditioner as a kid, I had really long beautiful hair.

Jamie Galarza: Actually, from the screen, your hair looks so good with the extra volume!

brook gretchen taylor: I used this when I was growing up. They came in large bottles. And it was for horses originally.

Kendall Linderman: Would you recommend alternating this product with other products since it’s so clarifying? And to help with the moisture?

Claudia B: I use AVEDA for years and I noticed a little hair loss. I'm using mane n tail to give a break to my hair.

stylinoutlander: Hi Helen, how often should we wash our hair? Also how often should you clarifying shampoo?

mandy stephens: I seen slightly ugly shampoo bottles too that have been a huge life saver for my hair. Its from mastoora beauty shop lol amazing hair loss shampoo and hair repair haha

Tysha Bitsilly: Yes it’s used for horses. Mainly the tail and front mane of the horse. I use it and love it

McKenna Schmitt: i use it for my hair lol. i also use it to bathe my pigs, goats and cows lol. i started using it bc i was out of shampoo and needed to clean my hair.

Ivana perez: I can only use a small selection of shampoos(only 3 work with my scalp) I have mild seborrheic dermatitis if I use any different shampoos or alot of hair products on my scalp I get flare up this is my go to for the price also a bonus I use it on my dog & cat(my cat is fat she gets dandruff bc she can't reach everywhere so I gotta help her) the shampoo works good for her to my dad is the one that got me into this shampoo

Frances Mullis: Mane & Tail was originally used to wash horse manes and tails to keep them clean and manageable.

T M H: It was originally for horses. I used it on my horses in the 80s. Eventually, they started marketing it to women. I always found it too heavy.

Connie Cox: They do sell larger sizes at places like Rural King. My understanding is it originated as a horse shampoo.

Sean Webb: People need to understand that shampooing your hair alone dries it out. Thats why you shampoo, condition and then add moisturizer or oil or something after. Air drying hair makes it prone to frizzing.

Diana Rademann: Hello Have you done reviewing Drugstore shampoo such as Dove, Panteen, Tresemme and Head&Shoulder? Would love to see you try them and give some feedback.

Cindy Felix: I stopped using conditioner and just use shampoo, the conditioner was making my hair fall when i showered and brushed. When i used conditioner it would strip my hair of its natrual oils. Now i just use shampoo and Garnier Fructis sleek and shine to brush my hair and now my hair is in its best condition.

unsatisfied: Long haired country boy approved! Use on my German Shepherd and Kelpie ... People always ask how they get such shiney and soft coats. I tell em i use my shampoo on them lol they look at me like wth did you say. Mane n tail baby !

Megan Grant: If anything it being safe for animals makes me feel better about using it on myself because shampoos for animals work so much better in my opinion

Jasmin: Hi lovely I suffer from dandruff and hair loss. My scalp is soooo dry to the point where it gets itchy. Do you recommend for myself?

Helena Andrey: I recommend you talk about fortified shampoo for fast hair growth.

Violet Chanel: I used this once a week with a natural deep conditioner made from ginger and my hair has never felt better

Jo Youngblood: You will find that a lot of us natives swear by Mane n tail for healthy hair and growth

SaraWhiteWolf: Mane n tail has for a long time been used on horses, its the same strength as that formula. Hence the name

Katharina Von Walde: My bf used to wash his horses with this and he told me to try it ✨

twinketoes123: I really want this!! My grandma told me about it and how she used it since she was a child and only that her hair was down to her KNEES and like half a foot away from her head she had so much hair

YoX 244: This video is old but try the gentle cleansing version it’s amazing and not as drying

Maristela Membreno: My hair feel softer and has reduced my hair loss. But i do add oils after shampoo.

Emmp187_ Bb: Hey how often do you need to put this? Like how many times in a week?

Eavenly Jen Stillman: I was told by my Aunt who raises horses....Mane and Tail was made for horses way before it became used by people. Just saying lol

eathan shelton: I use the 12 oz on myself and my horse and my dogs it's basically head shoulders and everything else you want to wash but the 12 oz bottle well wash 3 of my horses

Esmeralda Mendez: So I just got the conditioner today and I'm wondering if I also need the shampoo in order for this to work. I use a different brand for shampoo but I can buy the mane n' tail shampoo one if its necessary.

lia_xxzz on ig: can it thicken or volumize hair? coz I have thin hair and is it ok to use the shampoo and conditioner everyday

Wilbur Mcbride: If you can use this on horses, dogs and cats shouldn't be a problem. I'm going to try this on Felix the cat.

D N: a very good review....thanks helen

Crispy: There’s a class action lawsuit on this product for causing hair lost

Danielle Russomanno: there are much larger sizes of the product. Ive seen gallon sizes!

Kyra James: Did you use the conditioner right up to the scalp like the bottle says?

Tony C: Wow, you do have thin hair. After your first use it looks tons better. If I were you, I'd look for anything that adds volume. Too bad it didn't work out for you. Everyone I know loves it for all the right reasons. A++ from my friends, anyway.

Cyndi Talks: Mane and Tail have a New Moisturizing formula bought at Winco

Judybeth Sanchez: Does this shampoo works for hair growth

JAM Fitness Extreme: I think your hair looks great!,lm picking some of this up soon,l wouldn't use it alot just once in awhile,.for a good.cleaning and shine, l use to wash my hair alot, now l just wash once In awhile and let it air dry when lm not going out and have somewhere to go.....l feel that the less.heat and blow drying you do.,the better for your hair.....as lm getting older,l want.to do less......

joicy vlog tv.: Thanks for this review☺

levi awomi: Thanks a lot. I'm gonna buy now

Janel Christine: Mane N Tail : Original Formula ? Herbal Gro ? Moisture ? How to know which is best

Rhea Reyes: can i stay it into my hair overnight?

melissa a: Made my hair fall out a lot. They have an active lawsuit going. I submitted my name.

DaCool JLynn: hi ty for your video I love horse shampoo and condioner too but you use more than just a little to cover your hair, but ty :)

Izabella: I love the look of the bottle

Mother Bird: It is a horse shampoo so of course it has directions for horses. I'd find it weirder than it has human directions

Lily Langman: Its been used for horses for years and yes a larger bottle.

Bob Builder: do ppl not realize that main and tail was MADE for horses and ppl decided to start using it...
