Hey guys, it's Gabrielle and welcome to my channel and for another video, so in this video, I'm going to show you how I do the effigy two-step protein, which is just one product that is a heavy protein. There'S a lot of products in the market that you can use, but the difference is it's a much heavier protein compared to something like yogurt or mayonnaise or avocado. So we need to be careful when we use it, because it is a much much heavier protein compared to all the other household products that we normally use and the reason why I'm doing this is because I would normally do a heavy protein treatment once a year. Just make sure that my disulfide bonds are structurally okay, but since I've had heat damaged BC, I'm going to up it to three times for the year and with that comes a bit of responsibility, because, especially with the effigy, the ingredients themselves are a little bit problematic. So you want to be careful in how you care for your hair. Before and after you do the treatment, so I've had some heat damage and I've cut off most of the reversibly damaged pear. But now I want to do a protein treatment. Just make sure that the integrity of the remaining strands is protected, or at least I have drawn back some of that trauma that came with the heat damaged. So first things. First, I am going to unravel my hair. It'S been in twists for the week and I am going to spray it with the serum, and this is just the serum that I have a video on. I deleted it with a little bit of aloe vera juice, because my hair is super super dry. So I don't want to manipulate it when it that's it's that dry, so I spray it very lightly. Just so it's safe to manipulate, and then I put it in sections which I always bridge is the best way to detangle your hair. Next, I am going to make a detangling mix, so I used about maybe 1 tbsp of my oil and then I'm using the Trader Joe's conditioner and I have used it maybe twice so I don't feel confident enough to give feedback on it, but so far, so Good, I really like it, but I need to play with it a little bit more, so I didn't have any more aloe vera juice, so instead I used hot water. I really would have preferred aloe vera juice, but I didn't have it, and this is what I am going to be using to detangle my hair. So it's a tablespoon of oil, maybe three or four dollars of conditioner and then mix that up and add something wrong. It could be water or a leverage ease or even an herbal tea if you like. Next, I divide my hair farther into sections and I have no qualms whatsoever with getting more than two or three sections per larger section, because I find it's just much easier to detangle and the damage to my hair is less this way. So first we're going to get rid of that definition anywhere. We can unravel the definition from the chunky twist we are going to get rid of before we bring our conditioner. So, as you can see, I am actually using a spray bottle here which is shooting with a missionary in a jet stream. That'S because I want a lot more product on my hair, because I want to start early saturate it. So I am able to detangle my hair and I do like the trilogy's condition. As you can see, it's giving me that texture, even though I diluted it with water and I'm able to get my hands in there and use them as fingers and use them as a comb to detangle. But I did bring in a comb because again I'm going to be doing a heavy protein treatment. We need to make sure that there are no tangles, because if you have two angles, when you do this, it's going to be a recipe for a disaster and again, like I always say, make sure knock on. We have minimal strands. I have two or three strands there, which is fine and just make sure that you're not losing chunks of hair, because that would defeat the purpose of this whole process. So I am going to work in sections like if, in that section I have three sections and it is much more efficient this way, because we can isolate problematic areas. We can work much much faster and minimize hair loss throughout the process. Okay - so I am done now with the detangling part, and what I'm going to do right now is just leave my hair to marinate for about maybe 30 minutes, and then I am going to go rinse back out and then check to make sure that it is Fully detangled before we move to the next section: okay, so this is post wings. It looks good and actually feels very good. I have lost some of those twists, but I am going to be twisting them back right now, I'm just going to check to make sure that I don't have any problematic areas and all the tangles have been removed. It'S really really important. If you're going to do such a heavy protein treatment to make sure that there are no tangles on your hair because believe me, it's going to come back to haunt you, especially because of how this treatment works. So I'm going to spray my hair with hot water and then I am going to add a shampoo to it. I am using the ors olive oil creamy, olive shampoo, and i am going to start with my scalp and then I will do my strands as well. Now, normally, when you're shampooing, you really don't need to do your strands, but because of the way this treatment works, I need to make sure that my strands are completely stripped as well. I like this shampoo, because it's both a chelating and a clarifying shampoo, a clarifying shampoo, is a shampoo that is a deep cleansing, shampoo that doesn't contain any added conditioners to it and then a chelating shampoo there's a little bit more heavy lifting than a clarifying shampoo, Because it can bind with the chemicals in your hair, especially something like calcium and magnesium, and it's going to strip them completely from your hair. So if you live in a place that has hard water, a chelating shampoo is a good thing to have in your arsenal. Okay, so we are done with the shampoo, and the next step is to do the protein treatment and, as you can see, my hair is true for see. I am losing a lot of my texture definition very very rapidly, and my hair is also losing water. Very very quickly, so I have to work with it much faster, especially when it comes to doing the protein treatment and when you're doing this protein treatment make sure that your hair is slightly damp because that's going to give the protein something to cling onto. And it's going to be much easier to work with your hair when it's dumped, I opted not to use sections for my hair because I felt like the process could move much faster if I just walked on my hair as a whole and use my fingers to Help the product penetrate through the strength so saturated your hair as much as you can and looking at the first four or five ingredients of the effigy you'll notice that you have some water, hydrolyzed, collagen, citric acid magnesium sulfate. These ingredients that I can't pronounce and panthenol and then finally, we have the conferral acetate, which is vitamin E, and when we are using a protein treatment, we're essentially trying to repair the disulfide bonds. The disulfide bonds with your hair are the bonds that are very responsible for the strength. The physical configuration, as well as the curl pattern of your hair and the curl. Your hair is the more the disulfide bonds you have. So when you have some kind of damage like heat damage or when you relax your hair, you essentially destroy the deck sulfide bonds, which is how you straighten your hair. On a normal day to day basis, we are manipulating what are called hydrogen bonds, which is, when you style or when you shampoo your hair when you comb your hair, but the real damage, your cars when you damage the disulfide bonds. So, with the heat damaged, I kind of went overboard with the heat, and so I ended up destroying the disulfide bonds and that's why I had to cut some of my hair because you can damage it to a point of no repair and then for the rest Of my hair, I wanted to make sure that the structural integrity was maintained, and that's where the apogee comes in now, like I mentioned it, has magnesium sulfate in it now. Melindam sulfate is basically a salt. Some people call it Epsom salt and it has a very, very high affinity for water, meaning that it is high high growth Finnick and it likes water a lot. So when it comes in contact with keratin, which is a protein that makes up our hair, it is going to suck all the moisture out of the character. It will absolutely dehydrate the keratin and your hair will be hard and in order to get this product to work, the magnesium sulfate plays two roles. It'S alkaline. So it's going to cause your hair to swell and open up the shaft so that the hydrolyzed protein gets in and then on a microscopic level. The hydrolyzed proteins are going to go in with a structural damage and try to bind with your hair and in order to hide these presses along and make it even more permanent you bring in heat. So the product recommends using heat for about 20 minutes and covered under a dryer, or you can go the way. I went with a blow dry, but either way you need to bring in heat, because this is going to help the hydrolyze. The hydrolyzed proteins bind to your hair even after you rinse the hair. So after about 15 minutes, you're hoping to harden completely and it's going to be very, very vulnerable, it's almost straw-like and it feels like it might break, and so you want to be careful with it at that point, once you get to this hardened point, you want To rinse your hair with warm water and rinse it thoroughly to make sure that all the protein is removed from your hair. Again, you want to deep condition after this and in case you're wondering why the effigy calls for deep conditioning is because the magnesium sulphate is no joke. It will really really really make your hair heart. It'S job is to is to dehydrate, and it does that job effectively. So once you're done rinse off your hair with cool water and then follow up with a deep conditioner, you can always follow with a deep conditioner that comes with this product, because I think it's really complimentary. But being me, I opted for a different, deep conditioner, although my recommendation will be to follows with the deep condition that comes with it, because they are complementary products. So this is how I did my protein treatment. Like I said, I will do this again on two more times this year only because I've had heat damage, but normally I find twice a year is enough, but this year I will be doing it three times. Hopefully this video was helpful. If you have any questions, please leave them down below and if you haven't subscribed yet click on my face to subscribe and thank you so much guys for watching and, of course, if you've used a Fiji two-step or any other kind of heavy protein to repair your Hair, please let us know how it worked for you and thank you so much guys for watching, and I will see you on the next video take care until then.

DuchessGabrielle: Hi guys! After losing about 3 inches of length to heat damage, I’ve incorporated the Aphogee 2 step protein treatment to repair any unseen structural damage on the remaining strands. This is the first of three treatments that I will do this year, spaced out in 8-9 weeks. Aphogee is a heavy protein that could wreck havoc on your cuticles if not used properly or when used too frequently on natural hair. The key here is moderation. If your natural hair hasn’t experienced trauma, once or twice a year is enough to repair any normal wear and tear or element-related damage. If used to repair trauma (like heat damage), frequency will vary based on the kind and duration of the trauma. A moisturizing deep conditioner is an absolute must after because the protein treatment will completely dehydrate your hair. Water is not a sufficient moisturizer so use the complementary conditioner that comes with the protein treatment or one that your hair is agreeable to. Alright! Let's get our hair back to healthy status :-)

Esther Olubi: Omg. Finally another 4c natural with my exact scalp shape. People think I've lost my edges or something, but that's legit how my hair grows. lol. Very educative video, thank you. I just ordered it and was looking to get instructions on how to use it.

Flairelle: I kept losing inches throughout the year with breakage and massive shedding and Aphogee really made my hair stronger. I did not know about the heat though and let it air dry. YOurs looked white. The one I used looks like apple juice and I use the same ORS Clarifying shampoo before as well. It is a go to in desperate measures. I apply it with a spray bottle though because passing my hands through my already detangled hair is a no no with this product. Great tips and I got a lot of info that I did not know before

funkyredhead1: Excellent! Love the steps you took before applying the protein treatment; something I will do myself next time. Thank you.

Kimberly Couture: I would absolutely love to see the day where I can brush my hair and not lose any hair. #hairgoals

Jan Pedro: Always very informative! Love your videos

Mrs. Adriann: Really nice video! I'm trying to understand the difference between the 2 Step Protein Treatment and the 2 minute Keratin Treatment. Are these separate treatments?

Blessed and highly favored: I love your voice. I’m a natural 4c myself and I’ve used the 2 step for years and it works wonders. I find it hilarious how much you explain how cautious you need to be with this product and its ingredients like it’s some nuclear material. it’s not that serious. How long hate you been natural?

Olivia Brown: Amazing look! I would love to see you do a product review of Straight Silk Spray by JuniorLabs. It absolutely makes my hair silky smooth

Me Only: THANK YOU FOR EXPLAINING THIS ITS A GOOD PRODUCT

Jenny King Mercedes: This is THE BEST video about Aphogee on YouTube. ❤️

Keila Medina Miller: I’m putting it on right now! So when your hair lathers a lot when you apply it, it will still work the same?

123leahm: Very informative video. Thanks!

Vanice Lammassaari: Hi, thanks for your info.Should i use apoghee conditioner?

UnfrendlyBlackHottie™: How often should you do this 2 step protein treatment?

Sandy D Lea: Another great video. I'm seeing that ppl are putting vicks vapour rub on their scalp for stimulating hair growth. Can you make a video about this please.

Sonyas' All-Around-Look: Thank you for the video!

Blessed Indeed!: Hi I have a question! Since magnesium sulfate is basically epsom salt is it safe to add a little epsom salt to my water and spritz my hair?

Avery Smith: Hi So I love your accent! I have a question so I recently went natural its been 8 months and I noticed I have two textures some curls and some straight strands. I'm not sure why I have straight strands if I cut all it off 8 months ago. I noticed that my hair is very brittle and dry as if I had relaxed hair and I keep getting fairy knots. Im new to all of this becuse Ive tried every product and it makes my hair stift and dry. Any advice? I want to try out this treatment and Im also anmeic too so maybe that plays a role too.

Shantelle Brooks: Try a Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein Treatment It has the same great benefits of an Aphogee Protein Treatment but minus the smelland harsh chemicals. GreenBeautyChannel has a full video on it and sells it on her website. I'm 4C as well and I've been using it about 2 1/2yrs and it strengthens my hair without the dry rough feeling a few days later like Aphogee gives my strands. Hope this helps

Vibewithangy: You are so knowledgeable

Kenisha White: Sorry to asked such an ignorant question, but I am a little confused on the disulfide bonds. Do you have more disulfide bonds if you have a certain hair color? Ex., darker hair (like black) have more disulfide bonds then lighter hair (link blonde). Or are you saying the more texture you have in your hair the more disulfide bonds you have. ex., Those with coily/kinky hair have more disulfide bonds then those with straight/wavy hair. Or is it both?

SexxyDiva Sexxy: U explained that very well, great job

Ali B: Great video

Unique Flowers: After you use protein treatment what you put in your hair to put moisture back in

rose's new beginning: If I use gelatine instead would it have the same affect ? Cuz it has hydrolized protiene greenbeauty channel and naptural85 both have a gelatine mask. I wonder if I make it with oils emolients and conditioner to soften the hair would that impare the protiene absobtion. Do you need the salts to get the protiene in? I have bleached blond hair so realy looking for a good protiene mask. But of I can make it without the chemical that would be preferably...But I do need it to work.

QUANTUM Jumpspirit: I use aphogee 2 step and it open my cuticles more made it worse.

Batgirl P: I don't see the heat damage listed in the thumbnail.

Cynthia Atem: I have bought this product but I'm too scared to use it

Pippa M: You explain this like someone with a Chemistry PhD

Chinmayee Panda: Can we have a natural thing for it plz..

sharomara: how is your hair now ?

Adwoa Rempuaa: I used this product on my hair i had so much burn on my scalp and when it touched my skin it did the same has anyone experienced this issue

doreeneb: you have such beautiful eyes!
