Hi guys welcome back to my channel or welcome if you're new, my name is melinda. So in today's video i'm going to be trying some viral curly hair videos that i found on tick tock. So i have wavy hair. My hair is not curly. It'S like 2a. 2B waves, but i'm very excited to see if some of these techniques will work on my hair, so i have four videos that i found and i'm going to be pulling like different parts of their routine to make like one full routine. If that makes sense, this is the first video that i am going to be taking a little bit of inspiration from. So, if you notice at the beginning of her video, she takes her hair down out of a t-shirt. I didn't wrap my hair in a t-shirt. I just wrapped it in the perfect hair care towel, but it does the same thing. This part is like really new for me. I normally love styling, my hair on soaking wet hair, but with this method it's going to be more damp styling, so i'm excited to see how this turns out. Also, i'm gon na have all these girls tick tocks linked down below. So for the next step, i'm going to be brushing my hair out, because that's what this girl does. Thank goodness and i really need to brush it because it looks a little bit crazy. Okay, now i'm just lifting my hair off my roots, a little bit hold on. Let me pull up my tic toc, just to make sure i'm really doing this right. Her hair definitely looks a lot more dry than mine does, but i know my hair would look like crap if i let it dry to that point. So, okay yeah, she uses the curl enhancing smoothie to style her hair by shea moisture. I already have that. I normally like, i said, though, apply this on soaking wet hair, so i feel like i should use less product, but she doesn't show how much product she uses. So i have no idea, i think, i'm literally just gon na, like maybe dip my fingers in and just use that much on one side and she just scrunches it into the ends. This feels so wrong. Styling on damp hair, oh my gosh. I hope i get good results. Okay, i'm going to do the same thing to the other side about that much product. I'M really scrunching because i'm nervous that my hair is not going to get any definition, but we'll see so this video has three million views, which is insane um, but it's a tutorial on how to finger curl your hair. So i think this is actually called finger. Rolling is that what she says yeah. I think this is called finger rolling. So i'm not going to do this to all of my hair just because that would take forever, but i really want to try it on like some of these front pieces because they don't tend to hold a curl as well. So let's try this ew, i'm like! Okay, let's see what she does she like wraps it like this. Oh my gosh. She makes this look way easier. My pieces are just falling out. Ah part of it's like falling out. Oh man, this is not going well. How does she do that? Um? Oh wait that kind of worked. Oh wait! What hold up if this works? Oh crap, i feel like i did that the wrong way i feel like. I should have done that away from my face. Oh my gosh wait. I want to do more now. It'S kind of fun, even though it like wasn't great it's like kind of an awkward technique. I don't really understand. Oh, maybe oh this one's falling out too. Oh, what i mean mine look way worse than hers, but it's still like better than what the rest of my hair is looking like wait. Is it okay? I really don't want to do all of my hair like that, so i'm just going to do like two pieces over here. Maybe i need a smaller section, but oh my gosh. I have so much hair. This would take me 85 years. Oh wait! Okay. I think smaller sections are the key. Why you? Okay? That'S all i'm gon na do um on my hair, because i don't wan na sit here for 85 hours. Okay, i just want the result which it's like well put the time in, but all right, relax. Okay, then, this girl uses a gel that i'm gon na be using so i've actually seen it several girls. Okay. Was that gel that, like eco gel, so i've seen several girls on tick, tock use this and that other girl, the redhead she uses the same gel. I think it's the same one, it's hard to tell they show the product so fast. I can't tell what's happening, but i got this one. It'S the same brand. I don't know if it's like the exact same one. Theirs was definitely orange um. When i was at the store, i thought this was the right one, so i bought it and we're using it because i have it now. Okay, i can't open this okay. First of all, this smells really good and it definitely says it's max hold. So i'm a little scared about that, but at the same time i think that'll be good for what our next step is. So i don't know how much i need and it's clear, so you can't even see how much i'm getting but yeah we're just gon na go for it and she just scrunches this in. So that's what i'm gon na do. Well, it's not giving me any flash drying, at least so that's nice and this stuff was pretty cheap. I think i wish they would show how much product they used. That would be helpful. Oh my gosh, this stuff smells so good that video has 1.2 million views. This is wild dude. What if i like, love damp styling? Alright, the next girl, her video has 2 million views. Okay, so she micro plops her hair, so i'm gon na do that with my towel and then i'm gon na diffuse. My prediction is lots of volume. Maybe some frizz and potentially some wonky girls or waves, so we're gon na find out she's, not the only one that diffuses, though, actually i'm pretty sure all four of these girls diffused, but none of them really show what technique they use for diffusing. I normally pixied a few, so i'm just going to go ahead and do that. I think that'll give my hair the best results. Okay, one last thing: i'm gon na do a little bit differently that i never do is flip my hair around. As i'm diffusing. I mean sometimes i do this with like my phone refreshes, but not normally on a wash day, but this girl looks like she's flipping her hair around a bunch. So that's what i'm gon na do, but i'm still gon na keep with the pixie diffusing technique. You guys my hair is looking so good, i'm like kind of shocked right now. What the heck you guys! These results are like honestly, insane, okay, so just in case you're new here, i'm gon na put up a picture. Sorry, it's so funny! This is blowing my mind, okay, so in case you're new here, i'm gon na put up a picture of what my hair normally looks like on a wash day. It is normally um has nowhere near this much volume and a curliness to it like normally. My hair is pretty stretched out and um very soft, but very very stretched out honestly, not a lot of volume or anything so um. This is like crazy for me for a wash day, this isn't even on my hair. I have a little bit more hair over here, but um. I just like the way this looks better anyways major success, so this is like you guys. I don't even know what to say. This is so funny. How did this work for my hair? Okay, so, like i didn't doubt these girls routines like that they worked for them, but i have a totally different hair type than they do. So i didn't think that this would necessarily work the best on my hair. I thought either my hair was going to just end up being like a frizzy mess and not have any definition at all, or it was going to be like rock hard from this gel because it says that it's um like max hold and honestly. I actually think i could have used a little bit more gel, so um. My thoughts on damp styling is 10 out of 10.. Why have i never tried this before? This is crazy. I know a lot of you guys that follow me love when i like. Do my foam refreshes, so i want to compare the results to that in one second, but really quickly. I really love this gel. I feel like like. I was so scared. This was gon na make my hair so hard and crunchy, or that it was maybe gon na like cause flash drying or something, but it didn't do either. My hair literally feels so soft and bouncy, which i don't understand. My hair never feels this soft. When i diffuse, if you are someone that has been watching my channel for a while and you've, seen all of my phone refreshing videos just to give you a little comparison. First of all, i like this way more just because it gives me the same results like the same volume and this like almost faux curly look like it made my hair look like it's curly, even though it's still not like. If you actually look at the pieces um, it's still just wavy, but it just gives you so much volume, but this feels so much softer than how my hair feels when i refresh with a foam also, this is obviously a wash day. So that's what kind of differentiates it too, but i love this i'm so happy. I tried this out. I honestly was just doing this because i thought it would be like a funny video to try out. I didn't actually anticipate that i would like find a new routine that i love but holy crap and the diffusing only took me like 15 to 20 minutes. If my, if i try to diffuse my hair soaking wet, it literally takes me an hour and my results are not nearly as good. Oh, my gosh, i can't stop looking in the viewfinder, because my hair looks amazing. I don't really know what to do with my bangs and as far as the pieces i finger curled. I don't know that i, like super duper notice that they did that much better than the other pieces um, but it's kind of hard to tell also. I think i lost the pieces too, but this is crazy. Let me know you guys should definitely try this out and let me know if you get good results, because what the heck i'm blown away, do you guys damp style or are you like? Yes, obviously, melinda? Everyone damn styles, what have you been doing with your life? I don't know: okay been wet, styling, my whole life, but anyways that completes this video. You guys, thank you so much for watching. I hope you enjoyed it. Maybe you learned some new techniques or some new products that you might want to try out. This is like um, freaking bomb love it. It was at the drugstore but anyways yeah. If you enjoyed the video, give it a thumbs up subscribe to my channel. If you want to - and you can also follow my wavy hair instagram page, where i update you guys in between videos, if my thoughts, change on products or routines so yeah that completes this video and i'll, see you my next one. Bye

Olivia Rodriguez: Finger rolling really works! Gotta do smaller sections and the longer you hold it before letting go, the better the curl stays (I usually count to 10). It’s a long process but it’s definitely worth it ☺️

Mie Mariane: I’m not sure if this is the case here, but it makes me so sad with people with type 2 hair are scared to call their hair curly. All types of waves/curls/coils are curly hair !!

Meghan Deanna Cooper: I've found damp styling works best for my 2A waves! It takes FOREVER to air-dry if I put gel on soaking wet hair and it stretches out the pattern. Sometimes I will do a cream product on wet hair before plopping, though, if I'm using it and not a leave-in.

M Kulla: I have 2a-2b waves and I've never tried damp styling before... guess that's my next wash day mission! Your hair came out looking fab!

Антонина Масленникова: you literally SAVED MY LIFE I have the exact same hair as you, and always followed the usual wet routine and never understood why it's never as bouncy and defined as it should be today I followed your routine step by step and I never NEVER had such amazing results, with such volume and definition ty so much!

Vicky H: Have you ever had the issue where one side of your head curls more nicely and more tightly than the other side of your head? Anyone have any suggestions? Thnx ✌️

Artsy Pineapple: I’m new to embracing my wavy hair and I’m loving learning all these different techniques for it! Your usual wash day pic compared to your outcome in this video is incredible. Great video!

Whitney Roberts: I think all of the water during your normal wash day routine has been weighing your hair down. Damp styling is def the way to go!

Theresa Shay: I love watching your videos!! My hair is a lot like yours, it use to be straight and flat, but hormones have changed that for me, so I'm really late in learning how to do my new hair lol. I watched your Denman brush video a couple of days ago, it just so happened that I was at Sally's so I bought me a Denman, and WOW! I just did it today and I really love how it turned out!! SO THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR VIDEOS!!!! ‍♀️

Katie MB: Dang, I wish I'd known a better 2a routine before I cut off all my hair a couple years ago :') this looks amazinggg

Lauren Sanderson: Watched this video last night and tried this method this morning with the products I had and holy volume! I seriously was shook, had the same reaction to your video that you had to the tiktoks. I’ve been wet styling my wavy hair for 1.5 years and never thought of the damp styling. Now I’m convinced that the wet styling was pulling all my waves down and out. Not to mention that now I don’t have to go to work with hair that’s still wet. This is game changer! Thanks!

Christina Obert: Instead of finger rolling I just use the handle of my wet brush. Works way quicker with same results. Love these results on you...the Volume!!!

SD Davis: I’m so glad I found your channel! I have very long , baby fine, lower end of density, low porosity, 2A/2B hair. I’m gonna try damp styling next wash day. I just tried the plump method for a couple of weeks. For me, wash day was great. The other days not so much, but I’ve had more definition. Like, long spiral curls on the sides. Im also gonna grab that gel. I had a routine that was working great but all of a sudden I couldn’t find the gel that I’ve been using for like the past two or three years. I bought some Curlsmith products. I feel like they give me a better definition but not more volume.

Anna Lepanien: Wow your hair looks absolutely amazing! I might have to try this on my wavy hair

Sophia Berger: I'm amazed that your hair took so well to the heavier products!! It looks amazing! I wanna try damp styling now :)

Chloe Jones: I love how relatable you are, and your content is great ❤️ thanks so much for the video!!

Lauren Larsen: I have similar hair as yours and when its soaking wet its so heavy and pulls my curls down, so I always have better luck doing it on damp hair! Love your results, makes me want to test out the diffuser I bought ages ago lol

Samantha Leigh 💛: IT LOOKS SO GOOD!!! my hair looks like how yours usually looks too, cant wait to try this :)

Molly Youd: Okayyy! That eco slay gel is incredible! I love it so much, it has a great hold but the crunch scrunches out really easily without losing definition. Like, how?? I use it every time I wash or refresh because it’s just so effective for my 2b wavy hair and doesn’t weigh it down. My hair is fine and very dense and it’s a couple inches past my collar bone, I usually use about a palmful of the gel between both sides and it always looks like a lot, but it scrunches in so well, I never feel like my hair looks like glue after. (Which has happened to me before when using too much max hold gel ). Your results are amazing and I actually am going to try this too! My hair usually gets real frizzy if I style it mostly dry since it’s bleach damaged, but who knows? I’m up for trying new techniques.

TheAverageSavage: I just had to come back and thank you so much for the eco gel recommendation. Omg it’s amazing. It’s sparkly, which is cool- I just “emulsified” the product and I kinda used a lot, and I can’t believe how fricken soft my hair is- air dry; and diffused. They all smell so good, and they’re like $4 for a shit ton of product, and you can get them at any store pretty much. I tried the black one you got- amazing, but I also picked up the one with the gold lid. It smells so good and If you look closely, the gel has sparkles ✨ in it. I buy so many things you show in your videos, and they never disappoint. I hope your feeling better& getting ready for baby smoothly

Heather S: I'm going to try this routine on my next wash day on my 2A wavy hair (I might not do the finger rolling though... Not enough patience )! I'm excited! Yours turned out so beautiful!

Laura Dalager: You should do all of the products by themselves so we can see which makes the biggest impact!

Amy B.: I don’t think I’ve ever commented on how naturally pretty you are. Such a sweet face and personality. I can just tell you’re gonna be a good little momma

Rosie Kay: Yes! Damp styling for sure. I had been damp styling all my life then the curly girl method stuff came out and everyone started wet styling. It didn’t work for me then I got out of my normal routine and just started wearing my hair straight instead.

Anna: 2a/b curly girl here and I’m just starting my journey to recovering my natural curls (years of heat, bad products, etc. have made it pretty lifeless). Made the switch to clean products a couple weeks ago and have not been blow drying at all (was blow drying daily before) but I have been struggling with styling. This video has given me some new ideas! I’m thinking damp styling and stronger gel is a must, and I might invest in a diffuser for my hair dryer. I was trying to style soaking wet and gave up trying to style at all after a few days because it would take 6+ hours to dry and the water just weighed my hair down and most of the curls fell out. Thanks so much for the videos, your channel has been so helpful as I’ve been figuring all this out! And any advice from anyone is sooo appreciated!

គុជខ្យង💜: My hair isn’t as long as the second video but it’s still prettt long and I’m glad that it still works for long hair! Hopefully it will work for mine (i thought that the length would straighten the waves)

Kat: youtube made me realize that i actually have 2a/2b hair instead of "frizzy straight" still in the progress to figure out how to properly make my waves pop. videos like yours help me out a lot

Sincerely Jade: I always have the issue of my hair only being curly when wet and then dries basically completely straight only underneath gets minor wave

Mati: I have mostly 3a hair with a bit of 3b in it and let me tell you I only started using eco gel a few months ago to do my hair bc my friends told me do use it and my curls were never defined and my hair was extremely frizzy but now that I stared using it my hair is so nice now, I use the olive oil one

Zizzy Marideth: I’ve really been trying to figure out the best routine for my hair bc recently I figured out my hair is curly, like really really curly I think around 3b. I’ll have to try some of the things girls on tiktok do bc omg your hair looks amazing

Becca Hart: Wow! I need to try this! My hair takes forever to dry so maybe I need to try this! My hair is 2a-2c on a good day!

Urvashi Singh: Hey, the products may be of some help but pregnancy on a whole also changes hair texture and patterns so I think your hair might get curlier naturally in the upcoming months!

KZesty: I have this type of hair so I'm lucky I came across this video! I'll have to try this some time!

Victoria Irene Matthews: From a hair stylist that also has a similar curl type, I also put my products in really wet. Not soaking but I wouldn't say it's just damp. Then I hairspray and when its dry and scrunch the cast out

Elizziebooks: Definitely going to try stamp styling tomorrow. I’ve tried it before but this makes me want to try it again!!!

Megan: If u get the ends trimmed and get some weight off the bottom it will help a ton with ur curl, and if u got some long layers that will help a lot too and will boost ur curls. At the step after the gel is put in, and u take each section and finger curl, u could twist each section up and pin it up with a clip or Bobby pin. Also if u made smaller sections to twirl that would help with the weight.but if u finger twirl them and put then up to dry, spray with a curling spray with some hold or sea salt Spray put in the towel to air dry mostly and than take them down and fluff them up with ur fingers. I think drying curls even with a diffuser always makes them frizz

josiieIZE 2.0: Just yesterday I decided to get some products for my hair to try and see, if I have wavy hair... so much information but your videos are great and I can't wait to get started! I'm secretly hoping to have hair like you haha - thanks for the informative videos, I will definitely be back :)

T M H: Your hair is beautiful. Do you find the length is pulling out the waves, or is it all good so far? I think my sweet spot is mid back to armpit.

Kristina Fisher: I think I have 2A hair, like yours. I don't really know the difference. I have always been convinced my hair was straight because I never enhanced the wave. The bottom half always had a much tighter curl/wave. I have AGA, and my hair has always been extremely thick and wavy. Often frizzy which could be very frustrating. I didn't appreciate my wavy hair until I started losing it the past couple years.

erin: you look amazing. i just damp styled today for the first time as well. def better. way faster drying time.

Shipper trash: I just found out that I have 2a wavy hair, I feel so validated cuz a lot of people told my I had straight hair, and I was always unsure what is my hair. I also thought that if people with straight hair don't brush their hair when they're wet, they'll have waves like mine... but that probably shoudn't work like that, right? I'm gonna rub it in my mom's face, she was the main reason for my confusion lol

Shantell Hall: For my dense, wavy hair i like starting with wet style cream gel or just a gel, brush styling with a boar/nylon brush. Then i use a microfiber towel and really try to scrunch out the excess water. I then use 'the Plop' from Moonstoneseven which allows me to 'Mom' when i need to until i have time to diffuse. I add a glaze/scrunch more of product, hair spray to help with cast and decrease drying time. Diffuse following Manes by Mell. It has worked really well for adding definition, volume and helping my waves start a bit higher than they typically do. Damp styling looks great on you! Very pretty!

The Bookworms Nook: I'm new to styling my waves but I damp style because I hate having wet hair drip all over me yuk!. I have had some really great results doing my hair this way. On wash day I have plenty of volume. Although wearing my hair up in a pony tail does destroy the volume at the roots. I have to wear it up though because my hair is waist length and otherwise it gets in the way lol. I did find though that when I used to brush my hair every day it would be lifeless. Now the volume in the bottom half of my hair stays until I wash it. I love my hair now

Sarah S: Amazing results when I've damp styled my hair doesn't clump together but when I wet style I get really big loose curl clumps. Do you have any tips for clumps with damp styling?

SofiaCalotti: Damp styling works so much better for my (heavy) wavy hair. The water just weighs it down a ton (and I feel like styling products 'slip/drip off' or at least don't cling that well?)

Lucy Warner: I always have to style my hair damp too. I also have wavy hair, but I have to have slightly dry hair after washing because my hair will get so weighed down. I'm glad you had a good experience!

Kayla Empson: I have wavy hair too (and fine hair) and damp styling is wayyyy better for me. I usually wait until it’s mostly dry before doing anything to it. My hair won’t hold with a bunch of water and product in it.

luckyDancer100: I don’t understand how people wrap their hair so perfectly in those beehive-towel things. I bought an aquis towel and it still slips and slides off my head. Now I just pat dry.

MsSlcpunk: Your hair looking amazing!!

AskNikki: your curls look amazing...i tried these steps n some of my hairs show 2b and others are like 3a specially near near part :(

Lindsey Violet: That specific shea moisture product gives me such bad protein overload, one use in a wash week, destroys my hair for a month! I just can’t figure it out. My hair absolutely loves frizz ease mousse-I get soft and uniformed 3a! I wish I could understand my hair better. I find someone who’s hair looks like mine and think surely this will work but no.

Lflo: It looks gorgeous!

Minou: my roots tend to take on crazy shapes so I can‘t really wear my hair open when I haven‘t straightened it bc I can‘t part it properly… Does anyone have a recommendation for how to get all the volume but keep the roots “flat“ or at least tamable? I would really appreciate it:) PS: I have tried pinning them to my head with bobby pins but I got weird bends and kinks in them so that was too much..

Jazriel Ortega: lol i JUST found your channel yesterday and i also have 2a/2b really just started my wavy journey less than a year ago and just made the “mistake” of damp styling all the time then i tried styling it soaking wet a couple months ago and was like no ew my hair is super weighed down so funny that you post this the day i’m binging your videos because i agree damp styling for this wave pattern is waaayyyyy better !

Ruthlynn: I have wavy hair like you! I am always scared to use product tho cause I’m afraid of it holding my hair down

xenab shoaib: i think finger coiling or finger rolling will make your curls more defined and also diffusing ur scalp first will probably help with volume and decrease frizz.

Sofia H.: Girl your hair is so beautiful!!

resonance19: you have quite literally the most beatiful skin I have ever, ever seen. I'm not kidding, at all. I can't even believe it bruh

Cate b: YOUR HAIR LOOKS SO SO SO AMAZING AT THE END

claire p: My eyes bulged out of my head when I saw the results. Running to the store ‍♀️

NotYourMum: It looks SO good.

Miriam Brady: Your hair is definitely not just 2A!! Its probably a mix of 2A, mostly 2B and maybe even one or two 2C curls!! This is the case with nearly all type 2 curly babes, we don't have one type of curl pattern, but multiple. I have 2c type hair, but I also get 3A and 2B and underneath my hair its 2A/2B!

Moon Light: OMG your hair is gorgeous...!!!!

S K: i also have 2a hair and my hair looks exactly like ur before hair i want to try this so bad

Savannah Storme: I’m going to have to try these methods

Brooke’s Beauty Basics: Alright, I was in bed about to go to sleep, but now I’m going to take a shower so I can plop my hair overnight for it to be damp for me to try damp styling in the morning

Natalie Campbell: I have 2b 2c hair and damp styling is my go to. And yess ma eco gel is an OG I love the olive oil one

Abby Walker: I’m going to try this!!

Bridget: WOW that is incredible. I really want to try that now

Jodie Lee: What brand of diffuser are you using?? Hair looks so good wanna try this!

shannenexe: people try to tell me i have straight hair but they never see my hair dry naturally. i don’t have straight hair or curly hair and i can never do my hair correctly so thank you

SoloFaerie: K, 2a-b here as well. I'm totally trying these things.

QueanaMaree: I have 2b and 3 a curls so I have a bit more tighter natural hair. But I'm half black so that might be why. But imagine how my hair would look like if I actually took care of it.

Melissa Peirson: I used to damp style for years and then started wet styling. I get better definition with wet styling but maybe I will go back and try my old ways using my current products.

kayley kolman: Your waves are gorgeous……

Jessica Galyon: Someone help me w how to dry hair! Soaking wet styling (bowl method) gives me the best curls. If I damp style it’s stingy. Without bowl I get frizzy. But dang. It takes too long to dry!

Gabbi: Finger rolling works super well for me. I don’t even diffuse.

Heather Plastow: I'm pretty sure I have 2a hair now... how long did this take you total??

karimwebo: Gurl, you're beautiful! ✨✨

Ana Kirby: What parts of this routine will you be keeping?

DS. Kim: The quality is good and the best. Thank you for the universe-like algorithm that made it possible to watch good videos. Gillian Green: Finger coiling is a game changer!

jacket1989: I'm between 2a and 2b and tbh idk if i'm worth calling my hair curly

Natalie: Omg we have the same hair type dude I’m not even kidding..I’m trying this tmrw.

Delaney Andersen: this video gives me so much hope….

Mariah Vasquez: Imagine diffusing your curly hair and your watching curly hair routines

Maam Chakraborty: I just started 2a wave/curly hair routine my scalp portion hair is oily as hell and my ends and curls are all dried and stiff becoz of the gel help me out

TheMeowizer: SO PRETTY

Sarah Ng: I was giggling so much at the end too.. XD

Random One: ooooo my wash day hair is a little curlier then yours since im a 2b but the problem is i cant find stuff that doesnt make my hair greasy or weigh it down... I have thin hair and my hair isnt even that grease proned its just when i put in foreign products i dont wash out....

Melodi D: I'd love for you to try Mels actual hair care routine.. :) you are super adorable. I'm subscribing Edit: also pregnant here.. <3
