NEW Video: "Our First Family Boat Ride Went Horribly Wrong"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sX3UM6...

-~-~~-~~~-~~-~-

Hi so today I just want to talk about curly, haired and being cruelly girl. I know that we have a lot of endless fights with frizz and like will you buy like a million products and then we end up hitting them all, and it's just it's really. Tough to know how to take care of your hair and it's even tougher when people say curly hairs, gross or whatever, so I really want to help. You guys learn how to embrace your hair, because I think curly hair is super awesome um. What problem is that a lot of curly girls they're taking really bad care of their hair, and they have no idea that they are. The thing is curly. Hair is structured way more differently than straight hair, so we shouldn't treat it the same as straight hair. So right here is a picture of me before I know how to take care of my hair. My hair wasn't even curly, it was like a poof and then right here is when I actually started to learn. So the first thing you need to do is stop using sulfates sulfates are in most shampoos and it's a surfactant, which means it makes the shampoo lather up. That'S what makes shampoo shampoo and yeah it cleans your hair, but it also removes a really precious oil in your scalp called sebum, which naturally moisturizes your hair. So it takes away the sebum and it dries out your hair, causing a lot of unnecessary frizz, especially if you have curly here, we have frizzy hair enough as it is so sulfates does not help. You need to cut sulfates out of your diet and I'll put a list and description box of all the sulfates you need to avoid. So the ultimate thing you want to stop doing is heat using heat tools. I know there's so many I was addicted to them at once. I know every curler girl in their life. They come to a point in their life where they hate their hair. They don't know what to do with it, so they straighten it. I straighten my hair for two years straight and my hair was dead like that's, why I got encouraged to go natural and I ended up loving my hair. So really you need us just throw away that strainer. I don't even think you should own one. I mean because curly hair is 20 times better, so please do no blow dryers, no straight iron. No, it's that. No another thing you need to avoid is silicone. Silicone can be also found in shampoos. They can be found in, like almost all the styling products, but - and I will also list the silicones that you need to avoid mostly anything that ends in comb. Zing Conal yeah, that's pretty much it and the reason you have to avoid silicone is because you wash your hair with the sulfate right. So your hair is all dried up. Then you put on your conditioner that silicones in it and then that acts as a plastic tubing around your hair shaft, and it literally suffocates your hair. Your hair cannot receive any oxygen. Your hair cannot receive any like water, can't receive moisture and it just ruins your hair, especially curly hair. So you cannot, you have to cut sulfates and silicones out of your hair diet, it's a big no-no and I promise you I guarantee you. You will see a huge, huge difference in your hair, so cut those out sulfates and silicones. Another really important thing is how you take care of your hair overnight. So if you're like me and you move around like crazy and your bed, you definitely need to put your hair up and protect your curls. So what I do I actually it's called pineapple lean and some people refer to it as you unicorn, but I call it an apple, so you just grab a ponytail, make sure it doesn't have a metal part make sure it's just middle. You flip your hair forward and you actually just grab it like this at the very very top like that, and some people leave it in a ponytail, but it looks less goofy when it's in a loose bun. So yeah, that's what I do. This is how I sleep and it preserves my curls and actually adds a lot of value when I wake up so that will cut down your frizz by a lot and also your pillowcase. Your pillowcase make sure that it's satin see like silk or satin, and this prevents a lot of frizz, because if you have like a normal cotton pillowcase, it's a lot of friction against your hair, which causes a lot of frizz. So you want to get something. That'S really silky smooth that prevents frizz and another thing that prevents a lot of frizz is tear microfiber towels. A lot of curly girls make the mistake of when they get out of the shower. They grab like a normal towel and like they wrap their hair, and you don't do that. Don'T do that because terry cloth towels have such huge fibers that they can cost they cause so much frizz and just dry out your hair and excessively take out all the moisture that you need. So what you need to do is use microfiber, towels, microfiber towels. I think you can just buy them anywhere. Just ask the people where my office also you can use a t-shirt. If you don't want to go out and like buy a microfiber towel, you can use a t-shirt. A plain cotton t-shirt, make sure like polish them. Crap has to be cotton t-shirt, and that works perfectly fine and all you do when your hair is wet, do not wrap it up, because that ruins your crow pattern, okay and have a crazy little curl yeah. So you use microfiber towels because of microfibers they're, really small fibers, and they prevent a lot of friends. So when you get out of shower your hair stripping, wait do not roll it up, because that messes with your natural hair pattern, so you grab a microfiber towel and you just scratch with the towel and they'll. You know stop the dripping and stuff, but it will also preserve a lot of moisture for your curls. The way you dry, your hair, is also really important. I recommend air drying, I'm really against blow frying. I call it blow frying because it's really damaging to your hair blow-dry it it's really damaging to your hair, and I really don't think curly balls should do it and yeah diaper. I prefer to air dry, it's more healthy for your hair, the whole time. Why don't you tell me so once you've, depleted sulfates and silicones from your hair diet and you stop using normal towels on your hair? Please don't do that only microfiber, towels or t-shirts when once you get a silky pillowcase and put up your hair tonight, like I showed you, I guarantee you that you're able you'll see a tremendous change and I know you will fall in love with your hair. I know if you follow my advice, your hair will get better. So that's all I have for you guys today and I will have more videos on tips how to get more moisture in your hair and maybe some product reviews and other stuff that you would guys like to see so leave comments and subscribe if you'd like summer, Videos - and let me know what you guys want to see alright, thank you and you guys, please don't stay silent like I really want to hear from you guys if you guys want to send a message, comment whatever and you guys can do a video response. Send me some of the pictures that you have. I can use them in video and a video if I get enough pictures before and after your hair and yeah he's really want to hear from you guys see how you guys are doing with this. And if you have any personal questions, I will help you. Okay, so I really hope this helped you guys. Please try it out. Do it because curl hair is awesome. Yeah you

NatalieX3s: Finally! A Latina that understands the struggle of these curls and can help me!!

Penny Tovar: Dang this was so long ago, my hair was so heat damaged in this video haha xD but now its wayyyyy healthier :3

Sapphire Love: Hey Penny :) Thanks for emphasizing the importance on how curly hair is so different in structure from straight hair. I've never really been one for using hair dryer's etc, but recently taken to using the most natural products on the market. Last hair wash, all that I used was honey, baking soda, apple cider vinegar and just a little coconut oil for after and my hair is in so much better condition than using any product from a shop. Do you know whats helped my curly hair the most... not using a comb or brush and simply using my hands to entangle any knots etc. I have been platting it wet and hairs never looked so good.

hella fine: Just taking time out to say a big thank you for your hair tips! I've tried everything from hairdressers to cutting off all my hair to help the frizz ball go away! But these little tips on the shampoo and conditioning is so easy and cheap and worked in just one go! Thanks again xx

80islandia: Thanks for the short, sweet, helpful video! Great for getting started with curly hair care. Love my waves, but definitely need to implement these tips to cut down on the frizz and dryness. Much appreciation :)

Kimberly: You're right! Straight hair is boring :) Curly hair for the WIN!!

THEQuantumPolkaDots: I'm sooooo excited to finally love my hair! I do just about everything you said not to lol and I have been doing them for years. I have learned not to use heat after straightening and blow drying  for about two years straight in high school so I'm not a total loss here haha thanks so much for your videos! I have just about the exact same hair as yours so these videos are a huge blessing for me!

PrincessNataly101: This is late but I’m so glad you made this video. I have curly frizzy hair, and all the not to do’s I’ve been doing. I’m immediately going to change my hair routine to what you have suggested. I always straighten my hair because everyone thinks my hair is gross curly, and you inspire me to enhance my curls. Love your Chanel btw.

jessica allman: Thanks for this! I have really long naturally curly red hair, and I love it but it's been so much to manage, especially with the frizz, that I almost seriously considered cutting it all off. Your tips helped, and my hair is easier to manage now and I can keep my gorgeous curly red hair!!

LittleSisterSkye: You have gorgeous hair! I can't wait to start using your advice for my own curls. I love my curly hair but it's a constant frizz/dryness battle. Thanks for the video!

Ashley Cortez: You just gave me hope for my damaged curly hair !!! I'm about to try everything you just spoke about in your video. And you got me so excited ❤️

ShimmerDi: What an amazing journey you had! I must say that you did a fantastic job of doing your research and finding what works for your hair. Naturally Zoe Friendly: Well done Penny, it is soo great to see that you have gotten all this information early in life it make such a difference. Curly hair is awesome, straight hair is awesome but must important healthy hair is uber awesome! I hope we can all share more tips because we all love our hair especially when it's at it's best!

Debi Ann: great ideas...going to change my pillow case, put my hair up, get to sleep, so I can wake up and use a t-shirt to dry my hair tomorrow...cant wait to start these changes and see results! Deciding to embrace my natural curls and get rid of the straightener!! Thank you!! :)

camrynmustdie: @CurlyPenny Thank you so much for making this video! Its nice to know what things to buy and what things to look for in hair products. I have naturally curly hair, My hair curls into ringlets ranging from tiny ones to big ones. E M: penny, i just want to say thanks. you saved my hair, after four months of doing the curly hair method(i almost gave up)my hair is finally getting its curls back woot woot. don't stop posting videos .

Catherine Duong: Loved your tips! So easy to immediately start implementing. Thanks!

A B I E: Hello Curly Penny! I just finished watching this video of yours! and I am just starting to love my curly hair (though, it's still kinda short for now) and I won't be dealing with straightening my hair EVER again!  I'll be watching more of your videos!

Jocelyn Warcon: Thank you so much for making this video! I've been trying to take care of my curls now but I didn't know how to... UNTIL NOW!  Curls Represent!

Sylvana Agora: this past summer I saw this video the first time and I hated my hair so much bcz I couldn't style it and I was always straighten it but now I feel way better for my hair ❤

PiecesofNika: Great video Penny!!! You gave alot of great tips! You and your hair is gorgeous!!!!!! Please keep the videos coming! Thanks for subscribing to my new channel! Curly girls have to support each other so that we all can gain better knowledge of different things we can do with our hair!!!

Leo M: I'm a guy with really curly hair, and I've been looking to bring out my curls. After I saw this video, I bought shampoo that was sulfate and silicon free and I INSTANTLY noticed a difference. All of a sudden I had beautiful and tight curly wringlets. I can't thank you enough :D

Jenny Parker: Awesome tips!!! Thank you for mentioning the different silicones and sulfates that we need to avoid ;)

bails kendrick: After this video, I checked my shampoo and conditioner immediately to check for sulfate and/or silicone, and they both had either silicone or sulfate in them! I now have to tell my mom to buy me new products!

Amanda M: Thank you so much for these tips! I needed to buy new shampoo and now I know what kind to avoid. I'm glad I saw this because I feel like the only way I can manage to wear my hair is in a braid or to put so much gel in it that it's totally crunchy. Can't wait to try these changes! :)

Allye Nicole: My hair has been really uncontrollable lately ( I have REALLY curly hair) and I used some of these tips and they really helped : )

Alba Cunto: I really wanna thank you for your tutorials. I have straight hair, but my daughter has curly hair and I'm going crazy with her hair, but you have made me see what I'm doing wrong. so thank you. and keep up the great work!!!

Carmen Sandoval: Omg thank you sooooo much!! I have naturally curly hair and have literally done the exact opposite of everything you just said and I've never understood why my hair would just never work for me. I've pretty much straightened my hair like all my life because I could never figure it out but now I know I've been doing literally EVERYTHIG wrong..! Can not even explain how much you just helped me like fr.. THANK YOU!!

Penny Tovar: A lot of people have asked for my skin care regimen, what do ya'll think? :)

My trait: This is the first video I saw of you, and you already helped me loads! I looked at sooo many videos for curly hair, but most of them didn't really helped me that much :( And you're so likeable! Subscribed within the first 30 seconds :) I love curly hair and now I am so excited to look at the results once I get a new shampoo!  Just one question, do you use conditioner? And is there anything I should consider while buying one? Because last time I buyed shampoo and conditioner, I only made sure that there are no Silicons, never really payed attention to the sulfates :) Thanks a lot, keep making your videos xx

jalapena2007: Great tips, but my favorite part is how enthusiastic you are about it all. I totally agree - most curly girls do all the wrong things with their hair. I enjoyed your video. XOXO Heidi

Penny Tovar: Honestly it is all about you! You cant generalize hair care, my tips are just starting points. Its okay not to do exactly what others do, if your hair doesnt feel dirty you can extend it :) I usually do 2 days, sometimes three depending how dirty my scalp feels. I just hop in the shower whenever my scalp feels gross :)

Brittany Warr: Hi Penny (: I was reading a previous comment and you were talking about how if you use heating tools, your hair never goes back because of the damage. I've finally grown my hair to about mid-waist or right above my belly button which I'm proud of, however I tend to find split ends (only a few) every now and then. Also, the middle of my hair tends to stay frizzy/dry while the sides are defined and nice. I used to straighten my hair once a week and touch up every day or two for my entire 8th grade year (I'm a junior now; I stopped btw) and for special events I still straighten and create big curls. In order to achieve "healthy hair" would I have to cut it off, and how much? I've also dyed my hair a much lighter brown and it's coming out now, my new growth is right by ear. I cut out sulfates and silicones, and my hair has grown quite a bit I think. Also, how do you feel about wooden combs and/or brushes v.s. the plastic ones And are Ouidad products good for your hair ?  Thank you !

Greta Kcomt: Girl, you just enlightened me hair soul.

Emilie Rosario: Thanks so much for your tips! I have curly hair MUCH like yours, except a lighter brown. Anyways, I never, NEVER straighten my hair or blow-fry it (mostly because I'm too lazy) so instead I'll leave my much annoying curls in a ponytail. I'll also wrap my hair into a regular towel, but I had NO CLUE that it ruined my hair! I have a cotton shirt I am now using to scrunch-dry my hair, and I've already seen a change!!! I'm working on getting that satin/silk pillowcase, and I am having trouble finding shampoos and conditioners that do not have sulfates and silicons. Any suggestions? (I never knew that I was surrounded by things that ruin my hair! THANK YOU SO MUCH! This video was an eye opener. I am learning to love my curly hair!)

Kristine Mulhall: this was so simplified and so helpful..thank you!!

Amanda Raices: I just started the curly girl method, thanks to your videos :) I just wanted your opinion for using a bonnet dryer. After I cowash, put gel in my hair, and then do the plopping thing, I go under the dryer for about 10-15 minutes total. Do you think that it would affect growing it out and making it healthier? Thanks!

Electric Jiggy Janet: Hey Curly Penny, we want to see more cute hairstyle tutorials please.

Sarai Brown-Pantaleon: OMG Penny, I have a prob. Soooo when i get out of the shower after washing my hair, my it's nice and pretty. But then when it starts to air dry, it gets sooo PUFFY! POOFY! Call it as u will, but this has happened ALL my life My hair is really nice when wet, and Id love to leave it like that, long and curlssss when it's dry. Any tips??

CJ Sweets: 1. This was _extremely_ helpful! I mean that sincerely! What a difference these tips made on my hair. (I also love yours! ^^) 2. I have that sticky hair curl problem too, lol (6:08)

Kimberly Morales: Thank you for all the tips and everything you really help me and inspire to take care of my hair❤️

Bethany O'Neill: So glad i found your channel! I always straighten my hair but have decided to embrace it at last- i really appreciate the video! x

Sinem SA: THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO. Honestly this helped me so much. Totally ditching my straightener.

steezykate: I Love this video! I had long curly hair an I thought "straight" was the style to go an it made my hair so dead. An it fell off from breakage I lost 4 inches an it still does it won't even grow. When its wet it goes to down to my chest an when its dried to goes like an inch past my shoulders. But this worked an I gave my straightener to my friend BC I shouldn't have bought it to begin with

Victoria Owens: I'm a girl that just didn't know how bad I was treating my hair. When I started straightening my hair it was already pretty straight to begin with. I straightening for 2 years then noticed my hair started getting really wavy. I stopped with the heat and it's just continuing to get more wavy and even curly on the ends. I had no idea about sulfates and silicones and started using the harshest shampoo I could find because I have trouble with really oily hair(oops!) and stopped using conditioners for about a year(even bigger oops!). I'm following your video on how to get rid of greasy hair and buying some Shea moisture products to try. Hoping the better treatment will take out the frizz, start healing my hair and define waves and curls. Ps. I actually had giant ringlet curls when I was little but it straightened out as I got older. I think my curls are trying to come back but my poor treatment has been preventing them. Hoping for the best for my curls!

Rebexo Sid: Dear CurlyPenny I have struggle a lot with my curly hair for 2 years now and no other curly hair you tuber has ever told me to use silicone and sulfate free shampoo and conditioner and all these great tips you have! I have been going natural for 3 weeks now :) and may I say I've seen a tremendous change in my hair!! I've never thought I would fall in love with my hair I just wanna say thanks so much!! I can finally show those people at my school that curly hair is just as pretty as straight hair ❤️

Barbara Szechy: Thank you for this video :) Do you know how to avoid the curls from looking so oily? I feel like I either have super oily curls or just super dry frizzy ones :/

Marian Arcos: Hey! I love your hair, it's look like you curled it with a curling iron. :) I just watched your video and it made me wish to have curly hair. I don't have curly hair, mine is straight. But i have a younger sister that has curly hair. She hates it so much cuz its frizzy & tangled all the time. She's been telling me that I'm lucky to have straight hair. I don't get it. Her hair is unique!!!! But she doesn't see it, so I want to help her. I have a couple of questions: what do you wash your hair with? What are some different hairstyles? Thanks & stay awesome!!!!

Scarlett 2326: I love your videos!! I have really curly hair and I've always hated it and I've always wanted straight perfect hair like the rest of my friends plus I'm always worried about what people might think about my hair so since I hated it so much I straighten it but watching your videos and hear you talk about how curly is better and stuff, makes me want to embrace my curls more so I've decided I'm going to try to wear my hair natural!! Thank you so much you've really opened up my mind about a lot of things!!

dorsa nassiry: HOW DID I MISS THIS GIRL?!?! she is awesome sauce!!! this is the best video I have ever seen, my hair is now beautiful and healthy I am really happy with the results!!! I wish you could like a video 300 times I mean she is bomb!

Brittany Moser: Ahh I just came across your channel and this is seriously life changing for me. I have thick puffy frizzy hair! But when I treat it right I have curls similar to yours. I've decided no more heat and cut the bad chemicals..hoping the "poofyness" of my hair settles but I love my curls when I can get them to do what they want and your videos have guided me in the right direction! Thank you so much!!! Sooo what are your thoughts on layers and thinning hair? I guess I get insecure looking at the thickness on the back of my head. I'll do my hair and have curls looking naturally great and then i look at the back of my head and say nopeeee and rather put it up or straighten it. I'm hoping with your tips my hair will tame and not be so frizzy and poofy..

Heidi Flores: I normally don't comment on any videos, but I just have to say Ive been looking for a youtuber who is all about curly hair ( well not all about but that really knows a lot about it) and I finally found that person. YOU! SO thank you so much! (:

Kateřina Weinfurterová: Hi Penny, I have just found your channel and it´s awesome! Thank you for doing this! Greetings from me and my curly hair from Czech Republic! :) I was searching for something like your channel, we´ve got the same curl type. Keep recording, love you!

Crystal Valenzuela: This honestly was so much help! I been straightening my hair for 3 years straight because I don't know! how to take care of my curly hair! & related to you so much because my hair is also dead & I'm trying to find out how to take care of it, which sucks cause I used to have long hair almost down to my hip & for straightening it so much cause hair loss and now it's really short & it's up to my shoulders.. but I hope I get to see a difference taking your tips!❤️

BlessedBeTheComedy: I am a curly girl too and I found this video really helpful. I just have a couple of questions. Is using the cool setting on a blow dryer a no-no as well? And also, why does the t-shirt have to be cotton? Other than those two questions, this really cleared up a lot for me. Thank you. :)

Bella Pallon:   Very informative video,I like it :-)  Anyway,I salute you for having much patience,I know it's really hard to maintain that kind of hair. I remember having a straight hair when I was a toddler(yea toddler, like 3 years old,I still can remember that)but as time passes,my hair were getting thicker and coarse.I never had a long hair when I was a kid since we had a barbershop back then.I always had a Barber's cut until freshman year, even though we don't have a barbershop anymore. It's just that my mother doesn't want seeing my hair like that, she said ,so I could be more comfortable and neat as well. You know that kind of feeling when you're going into your teen years and you have those short rough curls(I dunno if I should call it curls or afro),it decreases my confidence as a girl. I'm not saying it is a bad thing, but if you're living in Asia where having a beautiful and straight hair is important, you'd understand me. Been an object of mockery because of my hair that also became my reason to hate it. I went into straightening process(rebonding, straightening, hair relax) but nothing worked out. I'm more matured now and I learnt to accept my weaknesses. My hair is still my insecurity but I kinda like it now unlike before that I totally hate it.As much as I want to love my curls, there comes a time that you want to improve yourself. I'm in between giving a second try on hair rebonding and hair coloring. What's your healthy suggestions about it?or just keep it the same?

Jasmine T: Love your personality!!

tbsfreak: This is my first time watching a video from you and I have to say, I really like your personality! Btw nice tips there. I really needed to look back on what i was doing wrong with my hair routine, and it's DEFINITELY the silicones and how i don't tie my hair up when i go to bed :s

Gracie LeFevre: I just discovered this channel and FINALLY found someone with the same kind of curls as I do! Great videos :)

Mapi Luna: I just discovered your channel and I'm in love! I love how you share all your tips and experiences, it is incredibly helpful! and you don't use like super expensive or hard to find products which is just great!!! I'm so trying all your tips for my curls I'm like super excited lol I used to HATE my hair when I was a kid but as I was growing up I learned to appreciate it and embrace it because curly hair is gorgeous and everyone should feel proud and lucky to have it! thank you so much girl! much love :D

Amela Hodzic: Omg, you became such an inspiration to me. I never liked my hair, it's weird. But after watching your videos I'm going to do all of the things you said were good for my hair. Thank you so much.

Flower: Thx soooooooooooooooooooooooooo sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much your videos are amazing. My curly hair is actually starting to look better!!!! THANK YOU LOVE YA SO MUCH!!!!!!!

Jaz B: Btw, I'm a big fan I took like 18 pages front and back of notes from all your vids. Very helpful. Now I'm all natural because of you. You inspire me. Keep up with the videos I would love to see more.!!

Suhasini Viswanathan: Hey @CurlyPenny ! First off, THANK YOU for the videos! They are great.  I have curly hair and I love 'em but I just don't know which products to use. I know silicon free -sulphate free (Thanks for the list!), but it'd be great if you could list out 3 best shampoos for us curly hair girls! I see that you say we don't need to use shampoo > how did you decide to use Body Wash / Cleanser? What are the ingredients you look for? I am not a great fan of hair gel but do you think it is a must do? (I am from India and from one of the most humid cities one could live in..so the sweat and the gel.. no no no!)  So yes, what would be the 3 best shampoos you'd recommend? (I have a friend visiting the US now, so I plan to ask him to pick them up for me!) Thanks in advance!  Waiting for more videos! :)
