Hey guys, it's you me and welcome back to my channel, so today is a very, very exciting video i'll, be showing you guys how i do my wash and gos and the best methods that i found that make this process go as smoothly as possible. For me, i always start off by putting my hair in twists whenever i'm about to wash my hair. I do this because it makes it a lot easier for me to access my scalp and number two. It also helps me avoid roughing up my hair and allowing it to tangle up as i'm putting the shampoo on it. Tangles are what will make your wash day difficult like i'll throughout this video i'll talk about things that i have noticed will make for an either really difficult wash day versus an easier wash day and avoiding tangling is like the number one important thing so avoiding tangling. While you're washing one and number two, the state of your hair, going in to your wash day, will play a huge role in how uneasy or easy your wash day is you want to go into it with your hair? Not being that tangled, which will depend on how you styled and wore your hair in the days leading up to your wash so i'll talk about this a little bit more later. But i'm starting by first with washing your hair, make sure your hair is fully saturated. With water, before you add the shampoo once i know that my hair is fully wet, i just go in with my shampoo and throughout all the this video. The products that i'm using will be kind of different um. The conditioner and stuff is actually stuff that i made myself just because i've been allergic to a lot of things having fragrance um allergies and stuff. So i had to stop using like some of the products that i had been using before, but i know that for me, i, like watching videos with recommendations of products to use. I will link down below some of the products that have worked well for me that i did use in the past, but throughout these videos i won't be using those products, but i will definitely make a full list so definitely check the description box for that. So, as you can see, i'm just washing my hair with my shampoo and making sure that i'm getting all of my scalp and then after that, once i know that i've gotten a good scrub in my scalp. I then unravel and allow the shampoo to just run down through the length of my hair, and i just rake my fingers through and rinse out the shampoo as it cleanses the rest of the length of my hair. So that's what i have found to be the easiest way for me to shampoo my hair and avoiding tangling during the actual washing process. You never want to go in, and especially with all of your hair loose and just go crazy scrubbing. It can make your life a little bit harder down the line. So if you're going to wash your hair with all of it, loose at least try and be a little bit more gentle and rake your hair in a downward motion and try not to roughen it up too much so that everything can go easier for you. But so after i'm done doing that and i have finished shampooing my hair, then we go in with the conditioner. So what i do is i apply the conditioner all through my hair and i usually let it sit. I wash my body brush my teeth in the shower. If i'm doing this in the shower, sometimes i don't wash my hair in the shower, sometimes i'll wash it in the sink. So if i'm washing in the sink, then i'll just allow the conditioner to sit, it allows the conditioner to soften up my hair a little bit more, whether it's a deep conditioner, regular conditioner, any type of conditioner just allow it to sit for a little bit. If you can and then i go in and detangle my hair, so throughout my home wash day, i only use my fingers. I don't use brushes unless my hair is like severely tangled, then i have to use a brush sometimes, which has only happened to me like twice. I try and avoid getting to that stage, but uh most of the time. I only use my fingers. You can use a brush if you find that easier, just be trying to be as gentle as possible. I like using my fingers because it's gentler and it's actually faster for me. I find that it's easiest for me to just like quickly rake my fingers through all of my hair, using a bunch of conditioner using a lot of conditioner and then also putting my hair back in the shower or re-wetting. It is what allows me to get the most lip another thing that will dramatically impact how long your wash day is. Is the conditioner that you are using? You need a conditioner that has a lot of slip. It'S a non-negotiable, so i'll also link down my recommendations. I also find that the warmer or the hotter that the water is combined with a ton of conditioner the easier i'm able to rake through my hair and detangle it so now. This is something i do my complete wash day pretty much all in the shower. But if your hair is very tangled, i do recommend stepping out of the shower. I don't know being inside the shower for a long time can be overwhelming um. So sometimes i do that if my hair is very detangled but for the most part i usually am able to just detangle my hair in the shower. I just rake my fingers through it and keep on going until i'm able to easily glide my fingers through it and don't run into any more tangles, because this is the part that i feel like makes wash day hard, because, like washing with shampoo and conditioning shouldn't, Take you too long, i feel like, for the most part, a lot of us run into trouble with detangling throughout this video. I'M gon na give the tips that i found that make detangling a lot faster for me, but in terms of wash and go since this video is about styling in a wash and go. I find that the less time i wait between wash days. If i'm doing a wash and go the easier, it is for me to detangle my hair at my next wash day. So i think the longest i've gone in between it's like two and a half weeks of just wearing my hair in a wash and go before washing it, and that time i did have to like step out of the shower because it was taking me longer too Long to detangle my hair versus there have been times when i i was at a point where i was washing my hair like twice a week at one point, and literally my fingers would just glide through my hair. So it's kind of a trade-off so with washing goes at least, if you wash your hair more frequently and don't wait as long in between your next wash day at your next wash day. The amount of time that it takes you to wash your hair is lessened because of the amount of time that it takes you to detangle your hair's lesson and that's like the part that takes the longest. But you would also be spending more time washing your hair. More times throughout the week, so, usually i go like a week a week and a half in between. I feel like that's a happy medium where i'm not like washing my hair too many times during the week, but each wash day also doesn't take too long. If my last style was a wash and go yes, so once i'm done raking the conditioner throughout my hair, i leave a little bit of it in because i also use it as a leave-in. But if you like, you can rinse out your conditioner fully and then apply your leave-in at this time. A lot of conditioners are also multi-use. You can use them as both conditioner and leave-in. So i just find that that skips a extra step and again i'll link. Some recommendations down below as well, okay, so now it's time to step out of the shower. Okay, i'm out of the shower, and i just grab a t-shirt and i dry my hair before applying any product. Trust me this makes everything so much makes your day. So much better you can actually be. It can actually be a go instead of do a wash and go and your hair stays wet for, like 5 000 hours, i find it best to towel dry, my hair first and i'll. Explain more later. All there is right now is leave-in in my hair and um. Whenever i was putting this the shower, i always left my hair apart like this, and i always would break down so you kind of keep it down like that. Okay, hey guys, i'm about to um! Put the gel on it's actually been a little bit longer. I couldn't find my earrings, but i'm back, it's been like 15 minutes, but usually i do it like pretty sweet after, but it's still very much white. So, yes, i allow my hair to get to where it is. I'M no longer dripping wet but still wet, and i do this because it makes drying time so much faster like i can actually leave the house um after applying after finishing my hair, i don't have to sit under a hooded dryer for forever. So now i'm going to show you how i apply the gel honestly, you could really just leave your hair like this. If you wanted to do a true wash and go, you could go out with your hair like this. This is actually how my sister wears her hair um most of the time. She just washes it and leaves it like this, but i like to add gel for a few reasons which i'll explain. But let me go ahead and apply this while i'm talking so either. Just put a bunch of gel on my hands and - and i literally just put it on and don't overthink it just put it on at first okay, and it's a lot of gel i'm gon na put it on continue putting it on directly onto all of my Hair, so i start by just applying it to the outer parts of my hair, the parts that you can mainly see. So that's the top and around the sides, i'm just going just applying the main gel and then we'll go in and fix it up more and make sure to get the sides as well, and so now there are three reasons why i like to use gel. Like i said, you can just leave your hair like um how my hair was for, like our true true wash and go my sister. Does it all the time she doesn't really have a problem and she leaves it like that for like one to two weeks, but i prefer to add gel for three reasons. One because, but i prefer to add gel for three reasons and i'm gon na do a voice over, because i don't think i can talk and do this um effectively. At the same time, i'm very bad at multitasking. But i was trying to say that i like to use gel, sometimes because one it allows my hair to be like clumped and locked and set in a way that makes it kind of harder for it to tangle up as i'm wearing it, especially if i'm using Like a stronger hole gel from my experience with not using gel versus using gel, i'm able to go a little bit longer without experiencing as many tangles and then second reason that allows me to mold my hair into any shape that i want. So i'm just showing you exactly what i'm doing, there's no right or wrong way of doing this. It'S really up to what you like and what looks good on your hair, but i'm trying to show you guys everything that i'm doing i'm not cutting anything out. I basically just go through all of my hair and roughly apply the gel into all of my hair. I don't really go in sections like that, and then i go back in and then look at it and then add more to certain spots as i desire, especially focusing on like the ends to make sure that they clump in a way that this looks clumped. And i don't know currently: i've been liking the shape where it's a little bit longer in the front of my head and shorter at the back. I feel like that. Just flatters my face and that's something that i'm able to do as long as you're, using a little bit of a stronger hold gel, which again i'll link my recommendations down below. If i want the front to be a little bit longer, i just go back in and add a little bit more gel to the front and smooth it down and allow it to weigh down the front of my hair a little bit more without adding too much. Though you know that it's too much that you're adding if it's like overly white, you want it to be closer to the color you're. Seeing here i don't know, that's just the style i've been into lately, there's so many different ways of applying your gel. It'S really just about eyeing it for yourself, depending on your own hair type, there's no one perfect way. So just do how you like, or you feel like it looks good on you and that's another reason why i like wash and go. You can tell exactly how it's gon na turn out as you're doing it. It'S not like where you just kind of do it and then wake up in the morning and hope it looks good. You can actually tell with the wash and go as you're going exactly how it's going to look as it sets, so you can just form it and shape it into. However, it looks good and take as long as you need really um, but yeah. I was just listening to music and styling, my hair, which is one of my favorite things to do. The third reason why i like using gel is also that it allows my curl pattern. My natural curl pattern to be more visible by clumping. It and kind of stretching it a little bit in a way that my natural coils can be more visible and, as you can see, as i'm going back over certain parts like i'm smoothing it down more and adding a little bit more gel just to smooth it Down and clump it a little bit more and make it look more. As you can see me doing right here, and i said you can take as much time as you need, except you do - need your hair to be wet throughout the duration of you. Applying the gel, because it'll make the gel harder to work with, if you're, applying it to your hair, while it's like dry so bear that in mind, and you know how like today, i waited like a little bit before after towel drying. My hair, before i went in with the gel, if this is like your first time or your hair, dries a little bit more quickly. Maybe don't wait after towel drying your hair. You could just go immediately in with the gel after towel drying your hair, just to make sure that you have plenty of time to work with your hair while it's still wet. I could have stopped like five minutes ago and had just left my hair like that, which sometimes i do do as well, but today i felt like just going in adding some extra clumping it a little bit more, as you can see this side versus the side That i had just roughly put the gel in, i don't know if you could tell a difference me, i can tell the difference so we move and i'm gon na do the same thing to the other side. Another thing, that's very, very important, with the gel that you're applying is the gel that you apply needs to be compatible with the leave-in that is already in your hair, because if it's not you're going to experience flaking, it's gon na, maybe dry with little white beads On top - and i will link again my recommendations as well as some combinations that i've seen work well for others. I find that watching youtube is really good way as well to know what types of combinations work well based on, what works well for others. So i'll also link the links to their youtube videos as well. It should start to dry and become clear within like 15 minutes as long as you weren't, adding too much, and it looks kind of like the color that i was showing you beforehand and wasn't overly white to start with. Okay. So, as you can see, this is how it pretty much looks like you can tell that this side at first has already kind of started shrieking up compared to this side that i did last, so this side will still shrink a little bit more as it dries, And i feel like my hair usually sets and like is fully dry within like two or three hours pretty much when i do it like this, but the good thing about it is. I can go out like this, like you can't physically tell that my hair is not completely dry, so it's literally a wash and go like you can literally go right after this. This is probably going to shrink up um to match this side within, like the next 10 minutes i'll, come back and show you guys the final final but yeah. That is how i apply my gel to get it to be, like that's what i like about doing wash and go's like um they're fast, whenever i allow my hair to dry a little bit before i put gel and stuff on. So this is what it looks like i'm going to turn around. Hopefully i got the back. I wasn't looking at the back, but if i didn't get the back i'll look at this and i'll fix it, but this is how it looks right now. Okay, my camera went down to focus, but i hope you saw that so my hair, i got distracted and didn't finish my sentence, but yeah as you can see, this is pretty much my hair. The final result today was a good day for a wash and go. I'M glad i filmed it on this day because i felt like it came out really really good and now so. This was me straight out of the shower before i had done anything to my hair and this is the after period period but yeah. So now i'm gon na show how i sleep. So all i do is tie a large satin scarf loosely around my head. As you can see me doing right here, i don't use bonnets, buttons will mess up a perfectly good wash and go. It will just mess it up so much, but so the next day. This is what my hair usually looks like just squished on the sides, where i sleep and then a little bit on the back, not so much the back. I mostly sleep on my sides, but all i do is just fluff it back out and yeah. I really don't do much and i think that's also what helps me not really get my hair tangled throughout the week, because i kind of just leave it and in the morning it doesn't take that long at all to just fluff it back out. So that was like two days after this is, i want to say four days after i just wanted to keep on checking in with you guys to show you guys how it looks throughout the week and same thing i just fluff it out whenever i know that, I'M going to like, if i want to like my hair, to look extra good or more like how i did the first day that i did it then i'll go back in with my gel and i'll. Just like touch up some parts. It'S usually like just those side area that sometimes i need to retouch. I also find that when i do like larger clumps, i need to retouch it less like it ends up looking less stringy throughout the week. I don't know how to explain it but yeah. I literally just put the gel straight back in my hair. It depends on what type of gel that you're using for the gel that i will recommend that i've used in the past um. You can just apply the gel, you don't need to add water or, like do anything crazy. I just put the gel right on top, but you also want to avoid doing this too often, like you, don't want to do this every single day, while you have it out, because that can lead to flaking from you just putting too much product on your hair And it building up, and then this is the last day, nine or ten days later. So this is the the day that i started to wash it out, but, as you can tell still looked good, i could fluff it out. Make it look good. I did actually go out that day. It was a sunday. I went to church, but this is that evening, and it was time for me to wash out my hair. I was in the middle of watching a movie, which is why i just wanted to wash my hair in the sink, so i could still watch the movie at the same time, but i was like let me pick up my camera and also film what i'm doing, Because it's important for me to show you guys how my wash starts whenever my previous style was a wash and go so i just start by rinsing out my hair most, if not all gels are water soluble and they rinse out with just water. So i just rinse out my hair and, as you can see, i'm able to glide my fingers through my hair now that it's wet, so my hair, isn't that that tangled, which the gel cast definitely helps and also goes to like throughout the week. I don't really run my fingers through the hair or manipulate my hair or like re-moisturize it or do things throughout the week, but i just kept it the way it was throughout the week and now i proceed by washing by rinsing twisting it up washing my hair And repeating the same wash process that i showed you earlier so i feel like wash and go's have actually been out of all the styles that i've been doing, and i can't wait to show you guys some other styles, that i've been doing with my hair, that I feel like i've mastered, but i feel like washing it takes decent amount of time. For me, i can do it and be out versus twist. Outs can be a little bit more extra time waiting, even though twist outs and other stretch. Styles are really nice too, because for me at least i don't experience it takes me longer before my hair starts to tangle up in more stretch styles, but i do like washing goes where they're convenient and i feel like. The method that i have perfected has really become like a wash and go for me, which is what i really love. But i really hope that you guys enjoy doing the wash and go and just like watch days in general can be kind of hard, especially at the beginning, when you're just trying to figure it out. So i really hope that this helps you in my tips that i learned through my own trial and error, not doing it right the first time and learning things along the way helped. Now i could do this complete process in like under an hour before i go out, but it definitely wasn't like that at the beginning. So don't worry if it is a struggle at first practice definitely makes perfect and you'll be getting faster and faster it'll be getting easier and easier for you. So let me know if this helped you, i really really hope it did and if it came out good. Definitely sell you pictures on instagram i'd love to see it on you and yeah. Thank you guys. So much for watching i'll, see you in the next one bye.

Seun Okimi: I really hope this video helped you guys!!! Definitely let me know what other tutorials you would like to see from me if you have anything! Definitely a lot more coming! And don't forget to subscribe if this helped you!!❤️❤️❤️

Onyinye Ofuokwu: Was following your relaxed journey when I got tired of my hair and needed motivation to keep it. I tried to transition to natural but my hair was too thick and it was becoming so stressful. I cut everything off two days ago and I'm ready to start this journey. Yay me ❤

DangerousMindsets: “Don’t overthink it. Just put it on.” Best advice I’ve heard. I recently did a big chop because i had a lot of heat damage. I really wanted to start wearing my natural hair out but I’m always scared to just slap gel on my hair so I’ve just been doing twists and twist outs because I’m guaranteed a nice style. Thank you for giving me the courage to try out this method.

Adanna Madueke: Baby girl your HAIRRR is looking all forms of tantalizing

Joyann B: The most important thing I've learnt from Seun was that the way you take down your hair is important.... I focused on the install and moisturizing during the protective style then ripped it all out on the take down. Aftering watching that video I've been so much more gentle with how I take care of my hair in general and it has grown so much in one year. So I encourage you all to be gentle and with your hair. Also please finger detangle before washing your hair .... This is sooooo beneficial.

MyHairDays: Love your technique! I feel like it’s less strenuous than other wash and go routines I’ve seen

Miss T: THIS!!! is the wash & go method I was searching for my dense kinky hair , it looks beautiful!

Jada Copeland: Yes! I found that the more I wash my hair throughout the week the easier the detangling process is.

Beauty Jae: Your hair is growing very fast! I love how much care you’ve put into it!!

karen horton: I love your technique! You’ve shown me the 1st actual wash n go

S1m0ne Hinds: I was super skeptical at first.... but I tried it today and my hair is soooo soft and shiny! I am definitely gonna use this method going forward. Also tried a protein treatment as you suggested and it not only feels healthier but stronger too.

Tori: Such a pretty wash and go! I'm 2 years natural and leave my hair in braids so I haven't really tried styling it yet. Gonna try this.

Lolade Fashola: Wow!! I told myself that it’s going to be a while for me to attempt a wash & go again buuuttt I really love this method!! The shape you create is GIVING

Apara: This was a very well explained video!!!! It will definitely help those who are struggling.

QueenMichelle Cosmetics: I part my hair in 4 or 5 sections before I wash my hair. That method makes it easier for me and less knots. Great video

Fieldsofyasmine: I followed this video and it has made me realize that I've never worked the product properly into my hair & I also never sealed it in correctly. I followed this routine and my hair has never looked better. thank you ( and I'm 28 years old, so you can imagine how I've been struggeling)

maddierumpy: I love this method! I’ve been looking for a way to improve how long it takes to do my wash and gos and I’m most definitely gonna try this methodyour end results looked great

Amanda Johnson: Absolutely love this video. You did a wonderful job. I definitely need to try it. I believe I will. I’ve got my two strand twist down, but I need to figure out my wash and go. And your cut is gorgeous on you!

Sheeks: First I was watching your vids for my relaxed journey and now it's for my natural. Doing my big chop next week:)

Ms Boro: I said it! Your natural hair is already thicker and looks nicer than mine. So beautiful! Maybe there's hope for my 5z extra kinky hair in a wash and go!

Megan: Wow, your hair came out great, I love it!! Thanks for sharing! Also, I love the shape/style of your cut. It's almost like a heart. It falls so nicely. I'm growing out my daughter's hair so if I wanted her to have the same cut, what would I tell the hair stylist? Sorry if it's a dumb question, but I'd really appreciate it

ms.chelle: Love the results. Thanks for sharing your routine

J-usMyztery: Girl I'm with u. I almost gave up but God showed me otherwise. Thank you for your content ☺️

Shunda At Home: Thanks so much for this video …for so long all I have wanted to do is a cute wash & go on my daughter (and she love it)!!! I think you’ve just shown me how to actually achieve that goal thanks again

Nicole: Thanks for this!!! I gave up on wash and gos on 4c hair YEARS ago. I am trying this soon!

Zanele Shikwambana: This the most beautiful wash n go I've ever seen on 4c hair

Dare To Trust: Wow! Your hair grew so fast! It looks great! To show your length try stretching it with a blow dryer or banding...show your hangtime Gurl

YouTube Name Undecided: I'm fairly new to the wash routine, I first detabgle using my conditioner. You must know that before I used to wash my hair first, condition and try to detangle for hours and end up ripping some part and leaving other parts tangled because my arms hurt, scalp throbbing and I'll air dry. Now by starting with the conditioner, it softens my hair, than I will with shampoo and use deep conditioner, rinse out and moisiturse. I use the brush that looks similar to the denman brush but it not, the I can't use a comb (I used to). The conditioner must have slip (be able to soften the hair and let the brush easily slip through). It cut my washing day time.

Curtistine Phillips: Your hair looking good I’ve been natural for 4 years and wish I would have went back natural sooner!

Yalena Yardeen: I am currently relaxed, but I am about to transition and given that I followed your relaxed era I will go through this new phase with you as well

Emmanuella Ndombeson: Just subscribed. Been watching your videos for a while now and I'm enjoying each one. Keeping my hair 100% natural

Wetesk53: I braid up the middle front and middle-middle sections of my hair in 4 large braids to sleep so when I wake up in the morning and loosen then they create a natural mushroom shape with a stretched top section and shrunken back and sides. Beats having to re-gel or use gel at all. I get to wash my hair monthly that way.

Tinta Manengu: Love this, just did a wash day video, really learning a lot.l love finger detangling too.

Tess Ebun: Wow. Thanks Seun. Was just about to ask how it looks like throughout the week and you delivered. I think I'll do this next with a gel. The last one I did didn't last all week and I now think the gel will fix that. You're the best. Your channel has helped me finally almost get to bra strap length. Key word there is almost. Hahahaha. Thanks alot. You don't seem to do much long term protective styles anymore. I still do them cos I'm too lazy to deal with my hair too frequently.

Yolanda Watson: Love this so much— thank you! ✨ definitely gunna try it

Lana Hill: Absolutely beautiful! I want to try this now

LaDonna Sims: Beautiful natural growing hair. Thank you for sharing this video us.I've learned a lot from your videos.

Krypt Keeper of Da Kosmos: Perfect timing. My hair is on year 1 and 5 months after big chop and I need an easy style for my overwhelming growth My arms be tieeed

RONNIE: My daughter and son has 4c hair and I absolutely love it, their styles last longer and it's just the perfect hair for anything braids, flatiron etc... my other children hair are looser and it takes way more product and styles don't last but I love black peoples hair no matter the texture.

Koils Natural: Ooooh that fro will look so good with some temp hair paint wax on the ends for the summer. I love to put bright colors on my fro in the summer. Best thing is you can wash it off later

tasha m: I find that my hair grows best when I leave it alone, but ive been wanting to try new styles. Ive sat my phone next to me in the mirror and boughts so many products that claim to give you the best wash and go. I like that you said dont overthink it and used one product. It came out really good

Failedpuberty6x: It's bouncy; it's fluffy; looks both strong but delicate-I love your texture. You can do so many things to it! You can let it hang, you can fluff it up, you can bring out those really cool zig zags, like what is this magical texture on your head woman?

Ronetta Stafford: Hi I enjoy your channel I just took out crochet braids. I cannot handle tangled hair at all I waited a week and put dark and lovely mild perm for color treated hair. It's very mild never burns. And I did the perm and flex rods because I don't want to put any heat. It came out beautiful. I usually do perms about three times a year. And my hair is growing. I like your comb out techniques it helps keep hair from getting out of control thank you many blessings

Jessica Peyton: I really want to try wash and go's for a while but I've been pretty scared to do it because my hair breaks so easily when it is out. However, I've been keeping it in protective styles for a while and feel like I need to change it up a bit so that it's not too strained from braiding it in the same pattern. I also found that wearing it in twists consistently kind of damaged my ends so I'm trying wash and go now!
