Aloha everyone psyche. Let me stop it's winter, it's funny how winter always looks like this on TV, but in reality this is what it really looks like it's dark, cold and gross. But when it comes to hair care, you know we have to get technical. Let'S refer back to the facts: here's a chart we used in the fall hair care video with real data collected from the national climate data center. Take a look at this section here, on average from fall to winter, there's an extreme drop in humidity, meaning the air is a lot drier. Also, the temperature is a lot colder and winds are a lot stronger. This combination can be bad news for any hair type, mainly because it makes your hair and skin dry out a lot faster. So what does this mean for your hair regimen? You ask: well, we all have different moisturizing and moisture retention methods in the winter. These efforts should not necessarily be increased, but consistent. The harsh weather conditions in the winter can be unforgiveable, so skipping a wash day or not properly moisturizing. Your hair can quickly lead to breakage. So here's what I do and what I suggest if you normally wash and condition your hair bi-weekly in the winter months, you can increase it to once a week or if you already wash and condition your hair once a week, try doing an herbal hot oil treatment. Instead or for those of you who are already on top of your cleansing and moisturizing game, make sure to stay consistent and not skip a day as simple as that, one last thing, a huge part of having healthy, moisturize hair has a lot to do with how We clean it. A lot of us are so scared of having dry breaking hair. We run away from quote-unquote stripping our hair, so we stop washing it. As often we lay your products and type of products, and we co wash not knowing that our hair strands are suffocating underneath all that product, especially here's a visual to help explain all of this. This is a hair strand that has just been washed or quote-unquote stripped. If left like this, it will dry out our cuticles will lift and soon start to break, but no one does that. So, let's move on after washing your hair, you use a conditioner, the conditioner soaks in and also coats your hair strand. You move on to add products and style as usual, so now the moisture or water is temporarily sealed, leaving your hair, flexible, moisturized and clean. We can't see this with the naked eye, but even with all our sealing efforts as the days go by moisture or water always finds a way to escape through evaporation, which happens quicker in the winter months. Now you find yourself with dry hair, that's coated with old product, not to mention all the microscopic dirt particles in the air that also sticks to your hair strands. So what do most of us? Do we layer on more products? Our hair feels really moisturized for a day or so, but soon gets super dry again now, you're stuck with dry hair, that's coated with even more old product. We repeat this pattern until our dry coated hair eventually breaks off anyway, I'm not even going to talk about co-washing I'll cover that in a separate video, so rather than constantly stacking product and type of product, wash your hair consistently, either weekly or bi-weekly and add a Product to clean moisturize hair, especially in the winter, so there's an ongoing debate about using products containing glycerin in the winter. Some say it dries out their hair because the air doesn't have enough moisture to pull from. If you happen to be one of these people after using a product with glycerin in it, try steaming your hair for a few minutes before stepping out. The easiest way is to take a warm shower with that we're in a shower cap, the moisture from the steam will bind to the glycerin and make your strands super moisturize before stepping out. I hope this video was helpful. As always. Thanks for watching see you in the next video

Kanma: I am a NIGERIA with a type 4c hair, guess winter hair care regimen can be used as Dry season hair care (November- March) and summer hair care regimen can be used as Wet season ( April- October)

Annie Liane: Great video. I'm still trying to perfect my winter care routine. I've started doing an additional deep treatment mid-week with a moisturising conditioner along with hot oil treatments on the weekends.

Mish - Simple Beauty Secrets RevealedTM: This is 100% true! I was not shampooing my hair for weeks because I believed this co-washing nonsense and my hair growth and strands suffered greatly! Now that I shampoo weekly, my hair is thriving. :)

She invests: I LOVE the visuals in these vids. Helps us all understand without a doubt! You're a godsent!

eVaniwithaV: Love your videos, very informative, concise and beautifully edited!

Sasha-Shae: Awesome video as always sis!! My biggest winter hair care struggle, and really my biggest hair struggle in general is what happens after washing and deep treating and stuff. It seems like no LOC or LCO method or combination of products want to work for my hair at all. It will be moisturized for about an hour or two, and then dry! So annoying. So my aim/goal is really to find a good moisturzing and sealing technique for my low-po uber dry hair after washing it. (During the wash and treat - it feels great! But not so afterwards, any tips?)

Wani M.: Green Beauty, thank you for the info...been anxiously waiting for a new video from you!  I love the way you research and back up your information with science.  I have to wash my hair at least once a week (usually more than that).  If not, my hair looks dull, gets tangled and I get a lot of buildup on my scalp.  Washing my hair as needed really helps my scalp to breathe and gets rid of dead cell buildup.  I've been doing this for years; my hair is thriving and my scalp is healthy.  I'm going to check out your hair products.  God Bless, and keep the videos coming!    <3

nikkicole54321: In the winter, I oil my scalp more often because I'm prone to flaky scalp/dandruff. Even though it has gotten a lot better now then when i was first natural,. I also try to moisturize and seal regularly (about every other day works for me because I find that better quality leave-in allows me to not have to moisturize every single day.)

AltaMenneh: Very well made as usual! Thank you for that tip about the glycerin! I live in a "desert"/dry climate, and recently I've been very scared to use products with glycerin in it!

Chyna Scott: I'm going natural and I think I just found the perfect channel to teach me how to take care of my hair

West Indian Aiyah: Also Humidifiers/Vaporizers help. I also like wearing box braids and keeping my hair covered in a headscarf (bun style) when out and about. It helps and my hair avoided getting dangerously dry during the winter season.

Amor Moreno: This channel is everything, I'm learning soon much! Thank you for taking the time to make such informative videos!

Muslissa: I use to be a cowasher but now I wash my hair every week. I have definitely noticed a difference. My hair stays moisturized longer and its shiny. I started washing every week after watching another youtuber and she said you are suppose to strip the hair. We may not like the feeling of it, but its good to do it so moisture can get into the hair. I always follow my washes with a deep conditioner. Now my hair stays moisturized for at least a week.

Aby M: I absolutely loved the video! I wish you wrote your own book about curly and kinky hair care

Kimberlee G.: I tend to wear my hair out more in the winter because it keeps my head warmer (I keep it up in the summer because of the heat & constantly running around outside). I like to stretch my hair in 8-10 braids & dry them a bit before twisting, bunning, etc. My hair is almost WL, so I don't wash weekly - way too much work lol. I'll go biweekly or once a month sometimes.

Leisure: ... wow. another great video. I stoped using thick creams and products to moisturise my hair and I stop cowashing precisely because of what you describe in this video. Ofcourse I didn't rationalise it to myself but I knew my hair wasn't responding well to that routuine. So here's what I do now. I hope this helps someone. Aside from deep conditioning. pre-pooing, hot oil treatments and protein treatments, my routine is as follows: I use a 10-90 concentration of Acv and water to rinse my hair weekly or every fortnight. And I moisturise with aloe vera juice and a light oil to seal. That's it. my hair feels moisturised from the inside.

CARTERMADE 86: you have excellent presentations

123leahm: I felt it in my gut  that there was something wrong with adding products to hair that was not just shampooed. I did it for awhile as youtube teaches you to moisturize and seal every day. Moisturizing and sealing my hair every day (loc method) caused it to look a hot dried out mess. So I stopped and instead began to use a little massage oils to massage my scalp until wash day. I have to admit that I had plans to one day go back to doing the loc method every day. I thought maybe my hair would react better to it now that it is longer. So glad I don't have to! Thank you for this vid. Just last week I was looking through all of my abandoned moisturizers thinking of which one I would start to use daily.

Beauty Stick: Just got back from the post office to collect my package which was my first order from you. Can't wait for Saturday so I can use my products. Have to support a sister. All the best from London, UK.

Dayna C: Amazing! Thanks so much for this invaluable information. Keep them coming girl! I'm a huge fan

Xena Callisto: Your Real Protein Treatment product on your site is THE BUSINESS. My hair adored it and the explanation of the treatment's low molecular weight being able to penetrate strands far better than homemade concoctions (i.e eggs and mayo mixture) was scientifically rigorous and made perfect sense. About to use it for the second time since purchasing and I will be sure to leave a positive review. I look forward to more of your videos, however, I hope the user "AfrikanHairGod" makes no more cameos as he is a vile and nasty individual. Peace, love, & nappiness!

To Be Continued: I have a question for you. I purchased the hot oil treatment a few months ago and when I went to use it recently, I noticed that it had solidified. I'm assuming that's because the temperatures have been so cold, but I just want to make sure that is normal before I use it. Thank you. :)

TheLadymac1982: thanks for coming back to YouTube! miss your videos. I noticed I have to moisturize my scalp daily during the winter especially wearing braids to grow my hair out after big chopping in December.

Anna Nikki: I love your videos. I learn so much. I hope you do the one on co washing soon

Opa 96: I currently have box braids so in my regimen I use ACV to cleanse my scalp then deep condition every week and I shampoo once every 4 weeks... I use a spray bottle which contains water, olive oil and glycerine daily... Is this regimen ok during the winter?

Queen Flore👑: I'm planning to take them out in the next 3 weeks but it hasn't been a month yet since I installed them. I already washed my hair and that wasn't easy. I have issues with itchy scalp. Thank you so much!

Nurse NapNap: Lord have mercy... I just did this for a whole week. Or maybe two... great information. Will follow your advice for now on. Thanks.

Mrsdevsgirl: I'm so happy I am subscribed to this channel. This information I'm going back to. I think sometimes we forget the simple stuff that worked all along. Luv the visuals as usual.

Mz Kegz: OMG you should write a book

Samantha 1: LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your very informative videos!!! Thanks so much!

laydeemuff: Great info, weekly shampoo washer here, contrary to popular belief that my hair will break, stop growing etc! My hair is thriving with my weekly heat conditioning also.

Jasmine Padgett: These videos are awesome! Love the visuals. I feel like a hair guru now, lol.

sugamehoney: Excellent video. Thanks for the glycerine theory break down

Fabulous: in summer, i use leave in and gel, in winter, i use leave in, oil and then more of the leave in as it doubles as a styling cream(its actually a protein free deep conditioner, trepadora maca moisture)

Lola Sweet: omg I love this channel, I wish I had found you sooner!

DiscoveringNatural: Great video as always! Thanks.

ISayToMyself: Such a great video. The visuals are so helpful. Thank you for sharing.

Dayna C: Love your videos. Can you please do a video on the benefits of having a shower filter for your health and the health of you hair.

Dana S: My hair takes about 5 days to build up moisture after a wash. So I have been cowashing. I like it but I understand the need to clarify and remove buildup. What are your thoughts about clay washes for clarifying? Because shampoo freaks me out

Dana S: My hair takes about 5 days to build up moisture after a wash. So I have been cowashing. I like it but I understand the need to clarify and remove buildup. What are your thoughts about clay washes for clarifying? Because shampoo freaks me out

GreenBeauty: Do you do anything differently with your hair care regimen in the winter?

babyblue: Great video thanks for all the great tips!

Champ: Hey there! Quick question. Now that its winter, are you putting product in your hair everyday? I just started my hair growth journey over recently and I really want my hair healthy. Besides the one day that I wash and deep condition, I find my myself putting in a little "leave in" conditioner (shea moisture) everyday because my hair feels hair on these winter mornings. Is this ok? Is that too much product? I cant tell if the little breakage I have is normal or due to over moisturizing. I have 4b/c hair. Thanks !

whit dez: When you do your video on co-washing can you address if cleansing conditioners are as good as shampoo since they do contain surfactants?

Educate 42: Very informative! I love your videos!

Corrin Jessen: If you live in a dry climate glycerin will take moisture from your hair and transfer it into the air in stead of taking moisture from the air and transferring it to your hair, that's why it's important to steam your hair before you get out of shower if you live in an area like Texas.

C. Clark: I give this video 10 stars...very informational...thank you

The Effortless Naturalista: Yes, it was very helpful. Thank you!

Judith M: Hi you mentioned co-washing as a concern. I am a new naturalista just big chopped and for the last week I have noticed my hair to dry out by the end of the day. I am considering doing the curly girl method which encourages co-wash but on a regular basis. What is your take on this curly girl method??? Thanks. Your videos are amazing and thanks for all the quality hair info u convey in your videos!

Tyra Washington: I love your videos! So much information!

Diana Victoria: PERFECT for future reference. Thanks for your videos!!!

Jada Shantel: Nice Video. What weekly shampoo do you recommend? I use ACV, but I don't know if I should use that every week or bi-weekly.

reallyme02: Very helpful video. Thank you for sharing!

marquita83: wow this is great!! i like to shampoo my hair! but i shampoo every three weeks because of protective styling so is that ok? its been working so far but i dont add a lot of product i just spray a refresher spray every other day or once out the week but i dont keep reapplying product everyday thaknz for sharing very helpful as always!

MyNaturalMyChoice: As always, your videos gives me life!

Syd Law: Long time no see lbs. Missed your videos. I cannot wait for the co- washing videos. I am a committed co- washer washing my hair with shampoo once a month. However, my scalp is becoming itchy. I am not sure if it is because of the co-washing, lack of oils on my scalp, or if it is a more serious matter. It only happens after I co-wash my hair though, not during the rest of the week. Sorry I just spilled my soul out but when you get a chance can you do a video about scalp irritation (what's normal, and others that may be a bit more serious). Thanks in advance.

zxyism: I really want to see the co wash video :) can you also do a video about clay washing?

Jasmine B.: Can you do a video about the Brazilian Blowout?! Love your videos!

Hello Web: Hello, can you please do a video on what happens to the natural curly hair when they apply a coconut cream relaxer. This seems to be gaining speed on YouTube, relaxing here with grocery store ingredients only. I seen people use the following ingredients: coconut oil, olive oil, lemon juice, and 3 tablespoons of cornstarch. The concoction may vary but nevertheless it works to straighten the hair. I believe it's only temporary.

Odean Lawrence: Hi Green beauty, can you use Glycerine after a hair wash then go under the steamer instead of steaming it in the shower?

Curlygirl582: LUV ur vids....ALWAYS so informative n fun.... ;-)

Nina D.: I noticed that glycerin dries out my hair very quickly in the winter time. Isn't it safer not to use glycerin products at all in this period? I also got very dry itchy scalp, so i am co-washing most of the times. is it ok or I should use more often a regular shampoo to avoid the risk of build up? xoxo nina

R U T H: Hi! Is there a video about thining hair strands ?

Mundi Haambote: Are hair supplements good to help our hair grow healthy?

Jaie Michelle: Hello! (: I have an itchy scalp and when I put oil on it, it itches even more once the days go by. I wash my hair every week by the way. I try not to oil my hair as often because I know that my scalp will start to get irritated. But even if I oil my scalp once a week it still acts up on me. Please help! :(

Muriel De: Is it ok to mix ceramide oil (safflower) with wheat protein or do they do the same thing? Will they hinder eachother from enter hair?

Flairelle: Your videos are simply amazing

Lotus W: Can you do a video about shampoo brands that's for our hair vs shampoo brands for fine hair?

Sandi F: I shampoo weekly, if my hair is dry 3 days later do you suggest washing again then adding product? I typically (if it's dry) will spritz with water and add additional product (as often as needed) until wash day.

Someone: Could you make a video about the types of protein ingredients, which are small and which are big proteins?????
