How I style my longer hair. I have tried a lot of hairstyles over the years, including a typical short fade and more recently some classic men’s hairstyles, but I am now loving my grown-out long hair. This also means I’ve been trying lots of different men’s hair products. I’m new to this longer length, so I’m still learning, but I’ve found a great thickening pre-styler, a sea salt spray, and a spray putty which are really working for my new hairstyle. Do you have long hair or are you growing your hair out? If so, which products are you using? Let me know down below in the comments.

Hi, how are you i'm robin welcome back, go welcome to my youtube channel this little world right here is man for himself. If you like men's hair, product reviews, grooming, skincare, fragrance and videos like this one, then you're gon na love this channel. Please do press subscribe right now. Okay, you are looking at me thinking your hair is wild. It is massive, it is long like this is the longest it has ever been and i am loving it. I actually am loving it. I think, because i kind of had the same sort of hair length for so long fine, i started to grow out the sides. I moved away from that sort of fade to something a little bit more classic, but this is long and um. Actually, it's kind of like reignited, my love of playing with hair. There you go, and i've been kind of playing with different hair products and kind of just seeing what i can do with a little bit of heat, my hands and a bit of spray, and in this one i just want to show you what i've been doing. I put a picture up on and i put a picture up on. Instagram and people seem to like it, so i'm still kind of learning the trade of the longer here. But i'm going to show you a few things. So my hair has been washed. It is clean, i shampooed it and i conditioned it just because i had quite a lot of product in it. Yesterday i wanted to freshen it up, i'm going to start with a pre-styler. It goes exactly the same way using a pre-store. It'S just going to help. You to start putting the shape of the hair. Also pre-selling is where you can kind of start to sort of find a solution to any sorts of areas or issues that you might have so for me, i need thickening. This is bumble and bumble thickening or big treatment, but you might be using something, maybe for frizz or maybe to smooth it or just to give it that boost so spritz. When the hair has been damped down, i'm going to combine it with a little bit of sea salt spray. Just because i want the hair to have some movement, some texture, a little bit of a more lived and gritty feel and a sea salt space perfect. For that evil, salty dog did a sea salt video really recently and sort of picked out some of my favorite ones. We'Ve got a budget one um i'll link it down below. Also, i had one for a great sort of conditioning and then one which is just full of text, which was this one also on man for himself on the product pages. There is a sea salt tab. So if you want to see all the sort of sea salts - and you can do that - okay next, i'm gon na grab a hair dryer. Now this is where this has really changed. For me, i used to always say medium heat fast speed. I'Ve changed this up. I'M gon na go for a really slow speed. So there's three different settings on here: i'm gon na go for number one and then with heat, i'm gon na go right down. It'S not a medium heat. It'S a low heat. I'Ve just found that, with sort of slowing down that whole process, it's helping to put the hair um about it's kind of helping it to go less about volume and more about structure and placing the hair, and it's just really sort of helped. So i'm gon na go one and one, and with this i'm going to smooth back, i should say: i'm not going to use a brush, i'm not going to use a comb. I have been testing out, but actually for this more sort of lived-in everyday sort of look. I just want to use my hands and i'm going to really sort of sweep the hair back lightly. Working on that top to push back not flattening the hair, but certainly still picking up and adding a little bit of volume. And then the same with the sides and then we will get into the back. The back is going to be really about sort of pushing the hair almost into a bit of a duck tail. If you think of those sort of rockabilly pompadours, which i absolutely love, then they've got this really great ducktail style at the back and with more length, i'm slightly more able to do that right when i'm moving into like hair placement, where i wanted to go. Naturally, my hair sort of sits from my left down into my right and i quite like that sort of placement of the parting. So i'm just gon na go with that, but it can quite as easily just be flipped, which will give it slightly more volume. But we're just going to kind of see where this hair goes for this. I am going to finish on a cold blaster there, just by pushing in the cool shot button, it's going to help set the hair. Don'T stay here when it's hot means that when it cools down it's got product on it. It'S kind of gon na fall out a little bit. Your hair is not gon na fall like the style is gon na fall out so just blast. It start to set the hair with that hairdryer and then you can go into styling it. Okay for styling products. I have tried loads of different things at the moment. I found that with shorter hair. You want something slightly thicker, so a clay would work really well. Even a putty just because it helps build structure with this longer hair, i want something which is just a little bit more um like lived in an effort. I keep on saying, lived in. I just kind of don't want it to look too done because it is so long when i've tried clay's, like moroccano texture clay, one of my absolute favorite products that is still giving really great structure to the hair. She revival, northern lights, matte paste, it's fantastic. It'S still working really well in here, but i find that actually using lighter products, more cream based products, moroccan oil, molding cream is great, actually revival great ghost um boxabolics crop strutters by evo, all really good, but this one fat boy, spray putty. I normally hate to spray. I hate spray waxes, i hate spray clays, but this spray potty is really fantastic for this because you'll see, instead of spraying it into the hair. I want more control. I want to use this lighter hair product that we would do so. You can see they're quite white, i'm just going to get it into the hands and i'm really going to lightly brush it. So i'm still going to do the same thing. Coating, the hair, but there's not much product on my hands at all and then then you've got it tilt your head and flick it up. No, you, don't you just need to work in this style. This is all trial and error, still learning about my hair, but it's um. It'S feeling good with the back, i'm just going to sweep down from one side with the other side, take it down and pull out, and that's going to give me these little flicks. So you're meeting the hands in the center pulling down. This is a tip from my friend nicholas, who actually cut this motion of style in for me, you're getting more of this sort of flicky style, so it's just sweep down and round. Less is more for this. You can kind of play with the placement over here. Placement of the part see what works for you see what you like, but with a product like this, because it's not going to dry hard. It'S not going to freeze hold, you can mix up during the day and actually, while i've been wearing this - and it was what happened with my hair on that instagram picture, this whole front section just fell and it kind of came down like this and it wrapped And it was quite nice actually so just go with how your hair wants to sit and it was um this style. I got actually off my own hair pages, the hairstyle directory. There was a jake, gyllenhaal and picture which i saw at the start of lockdown, and i thought i would love my hair to be like that and that kind of kept me going for the styling and then and ben vows, who was um or who is for July, barber of the month on the hair directory, he has done a couple of longer styles and i absolutely love them. So i sort of saw that as inspiration, and i would say if you do want a bit of hairstyle inspiration if you pop on there i'll link it and also link it up, one of those in the cards um, you can check out the styles and also Tell you what to ask your barber um, so it should i mean it. Will it will help you with the front? You can pull any strands forward if you want a little bit more 90s. I quite like that and then, if i get like really bored with them a bit pissed off during the day, i just sweep it back again again all about layering, don't overdo the product straight away. Add it in when you need it. You can really see the length when you start to sort of flick those bits out just to pull it behind the ear and then round. Okay, right and this product is also quite good. Just for giving a quick blast for hold comes to a light, mist take away any flyaways, and then i am happy with that. So there you go that is it that's how i'm styling my hair at the moment. I bet you like, probably in like two three weeks time. This will be totally different again, while i'm sort of experimenting with products, i'm still growing it, maybe i'll cut it. Who knows i mean it's just here, and while i've got it age 33, i'm not doing too bad, i'm gon na enjoy it so uh yeah. I hope you've enjoyed this kind of taking you on my hair journey and showing the products that i'm using at the moment. But thank you so much for watching and i will link everything all the products uh, also the hairstyle directory. If you're looking for a bit of hairstyle inspiration, you want to know what to ask your barber and the styling products you can use at home. Then that is going to be like your bible, your hair bible right there. Also, the man for her instagram account a similar sort of thing, really sort of visual, see the cart, see the styles and gives you something to aim for also, if you're still new to this you're still not press subscribe, then please do press subscribe right now. The button is there also more video suggestions there, a link to let's put you to the hairstyle directory there uh what else yeah all the cards up there, but until my next new video, bye-bye

Robin James: What do you think? Like it?

Phillip Andrew: Absolutely love it! (Also thanks for that hairstyle inspiration directory, been a big help.) Honestly, I'm overall really loving the grown out styles we've been seeing this year (probably thanks to lockdown). I hope it's a look though that sticks around.

Šimona_Sigmund: I shaved my head during lockdown after having waist long hair most my life. I love your channel and it's been really helpful for me as a girl who's discovering short hairstyles for the 1st time. I'm growing it out again so this was PERFECT for me

Jonathan K: Thanks for this tutorial, Robin! I am currently using Jack Black texture cream and Blind Barber sea salt spray. Sometimes I use American Crew matte clay to help keep my sides back.

Jose Luis Chaves: What I love about this channel is that You don't get too much into the "usual fashion youtuber" that makes the videos everyone is doing and just overexagerate their talking and just give akward advice. You have such elegance, style and that european classy style that I just LOVE. You're the definition to style and elegance. Keep it up Robin, this is, hands down, the best channel for men's lifestyle.

Jacques Rose: Great video. Been growing out my hair over lockdown as well. Anyone got any tips/answers on what to do with the longer strands of hair which are near the ears which don't quite tuck behind? Do you clip these off with a razor/scissors or try to let them grow so they all eventually sweep back! Even after I've styled it I still find a few come down by the ear and it's annoying.

Çağan Yılmaz: Robin! I have been following you since the early days and I don't know how I missed this video, I have the same hair texture as you in general (fine but loads of it) and your hair length here is the same length that I am currently rocking. This video helped a lot, thank you!

Daniel Koh: Looks amazing man. Keep up the good up work. I’ve always struggled with having fine hair and not knowing what to do with it. You have quite literally been the only one to help me out over the years. Lots of respect.

Strapping Young Ladam: I loved the head flip technique . I actually do that pretty frequently. I like to use my Amity texture spray when my hair is damp, lower my head to let it fall and flip it back. I'll actually sometimes let some hairspray kind rain down on it instead of spraying it directly just for a little hold.

Tanner Young: Just started growing my hair out. This was perfect! Happy to see a website to give me direction on hairstyles and great product reveries. Excellent!

AP_Trim: Such a useful video, was just about to cut mine back down after lockdown growth/style frustration. Many thanks.

CMN: Robin cant thank you enough for your channel! This channel is top tier quality with no bs or lollygaging, straight to the point. Its hard to find that in youtube nowadays. You're the man!

Christopher Sinclair: This is the best page I’ve found to help me as I navigate through my “growing my hair out” journey! Such good information, but most of all, you give me the confidence to just give it a shot and figure it out! I recommend this all the time! Keep up the great work!

El Mezcalero: Nice looking hair mate! I’m in the process of growing it out myself after cutting because it was getting intimidating. Lol but you definitely gave me some confidence.

Grave Splendour: I am currently in the 'so long everything I do means either greasey or helmet hair' phase. The sea salt spray and low temperature hair dryer are lifesavers! Plus a hair band for when it is completely out of control.

Steve-in-Cornwall: I love your longer hair, it looks beautiful. I think you should keep growing it longer and longer

Ruan van Schalkwyk: Man to man, I respect the fk outta you. I hope one day you'll know how much you've done for men in term of pioneering aspects of men's grooming that were considered taboo. Much love <3

Rusty: Slowly catching up with your hair length Robin! I'm really enjoying trying out some new styles and videos like this give great insight. Thanks Robin

bilbo bagginss: Amazing video. So this is my first time viewing a video like this and I’ve always took pride in how I style and thought I did a great job. Your method is literally mine and the products are almost all the exact. Subscribed. Perhaps I could learn a thing or two.

Matt Bell: Looks great, my hair is also really long atm due to lockdown. Off to get a cut tomorrow but this has inspired me to try a longer style.

Nah.: I needed this!! Been growing out my hair during lockdown and the back of my hair is SO bad now, I’ve had no maintenance cuts either. even with a cap on it looks like it’s about to pop out

BeardedBack: Now that my hair is long I have just been using mouse, texture powder, and a bit of hairspray. Looks good, has decent volume, and does not require a lot of expensive product.

Mr Personality: Been going with the 90s Pierce Brosnan look for years. Bet that's gonna finally come back now! Great video and thanks for the tips!

Edwaarrrddd: Really helpful to see all these tips for styling my grown out lockdown hair! I know you reviewed Black Label's clay but I keep seeing adverts for their other products everywhere making big promises, do you have any plans to review them? Thanks for all the awesome videos!

Yuvaraj Basu: I grew my hair to the shoulder. Rocked a man bun, then took out the sides, kept a top knot and my hair was about 12 inches, and now I have buzzed it out. So having experienced everything, I am proud man! And I am proud of u too!

Zaw A.: Your hair looks great Robin! I just subscribed to your channel recently. I really like the way you talk on your videos, great advices!! Keep it up!

Alain Kurniawan: Hi, Robin; I'm actually trying to grow my hair although mine's a fine thin one. Kind of confused on what kind of treatment I should use to grow it a lot longer? Your hair is fantastic by the way.

Tamas Menyhart: Dude, I think you look WAY better like this than when you had short hair! Finally someone on YouTube with hair haha Try using a straightener in the back area, just pass through once or twice real quick and bam, it'll lay way easier!

A Random Rat: Your longer hair is definitely my favorite haircut I’ve ever seen you in! It matches you

Rithesh Naik: Hey Robin, love your videos.. I've been following your advice on hair products. I have a question on pre-stylers I bought loreal mousse, Aveda thickening tonic, Kevin Murphy anti gravity volume spray. Should I use all three on my damp hair before styling it?

VelvetyOnion: I have a shaved head now (pre-quarentine) with no plan to ever grow it back again, but still watch every video you put out :) keep being charasmatic & yourself! and ill keep watching videos on how to take care of my skin, smell great and how to style my hair if I had any haha

Manu Gomez: I really like it! My hair is in the longest it has ever been too!

Fifa Beast XD: My hair is a bit longer than yours, but the advice and overall routine are very applicable.

zure: Hey Robin! I would love to hear you talk about whether to shave your sideburns or not while growing your hair out, i am really doubtful about that cause i am new to this longer hair styles haha

Sammie Watson: Thanks so much. I am trying to help my husband take better care of his very fine, long hair. Plus I am tired of it just not looking as good as it could.

MRGN STUDIOS: loving the longer hair bro! I've been growing mine out for a year... so far so good :P

Anthony Psilocybin: heres a tip. your hair should be good to go after a shower. no blow dry or any product. thats how you will know that your hair is all good. if it looks like shite you need a maintenance cut or its in an awkward stage and you need to grow it out more. products are just the icing on cake if you want it to look a certain way.

KaCzA: The dislikes are from guys who did a buzz cut

Ben Salim: I have the same length hair, maybe slightly longer... Unfortunately, my hair parts down the middle but continues to part at the curve of the back of my head presumably at my crown. No matter how I dry my hair my hair parts at the back of my head and sometimes my crown is visible and looks like a bald spot despite having long and thick hair. Infuriating because even if i manage to cover up my crown, one gust of wind causes the back part and uncovers my crown

Richard Lim: long hair is double edge sword. It can look really bad or look good. For me, long hair only looks amazing if you take the time to actually style it, part it, and use the right product. So yes, it's a lot of work But it's so worth it. so many ways to style it. Love it.

Blayne: Hi Robin. I really like the no part (all back) and pre-styled look.

Mike A: My hair is slowly coming out of the awkward phase....just being patient. Thank you for the encouragement.

ckiress: Woah, long hair looks really good on you!

occult: haven't had a haircut since March due to lockdown, I'm kinda at the same length as you and I've found a tiny amount of Rough.Rider with sea salt spray as a pre, looks really cool.

David Gola: I ordered the Evo sea salt spray after watching your routine. After rewatching it now, I just order the spray putty

Eternal: Oh yeah , one of my favourite hair YouTubers growing out his hair with me

Christian Ayala: Keep growing it man, looks fantastic

JASchlicht: looks fantastic! Thumbs Up!

Jonas Maier: very helpful! thank you for sharing

Paul Bowler: My hairs bit longer and very thick. Not quite long enough to tie back yet. Difficult to style. Been using a mouse but that sets too much, goes bit crisp. Any suggestions for products to use for more natural look?

Michael Oertel: I was just thinking about wanting to see your routine with longer hair!

Kaspar Potisepp: tbh i love the style in the very beginning the most! is it really without any products? looks like lots of volume and like salt spray or something. i like the messy style and id love rocking something like that

Craig Adams: You've made life worth living again. Gracias senor. Gracias!!!

Unknown7326: For the past 4 years I’ve had a skin fade on the sides and back and a short crop top on top, shaved my head end of March and have been letting it grow since

Lucas Ecclestone: My hair is almost identical to the way yours looks at the start of the video but mine is really flat. I’d like to add a product to give it some volume and texture. Any tips for products? (My hair type: Fine, somewhat wavy hair)

Mark Naber: Will this hold your hair for a full work day? I work a manual labor job, I don't get to the point of sweating, but I do get warm and that seems to make hair go haywire. If this stuff won't do the trick, is there something that might?

Wax Weazle: Would you recommend using wax for this lenght? Because I've been using wax and my hair always looks greasy and it never feels soft.

Rolig: Hey Robin! What is the best hair product and prestyler to put long hair in place? (undercut) (in your opinion)

RazgrizEdge7: That hair looks so badass on you! I love longer hair!

Jericho Ryan: I must say that looks majestic. Nice one Robin

Peter Becerra: Hey Robin, I'm new to the channel. I live in Los Angeles and currently all barbershops are closed. But when they reopen, is there any places out here you recommend? Some of the barbers I've been around are probably not willing nor capable of styling my hair in an undercut quiff. And I really want a haircut that I can truly be satisfied with now that my hair has finally grown out for 4 months since I completely shaved it off from a quarantine style cut lol

Harriette D.: I think: short hair + moustache. long hair + current facial hair ? you look incredible with long hair ♥️

Rory Henderson: Looks really good, I actually liked it before you styled the hair

Des: My husband always cuts it when it gets to this “awkward” phase but I’m like nooo watch this

Krispyyy: Awesome hair have been looking for something that can hold my hair style throughout the day as I live in a very humid area can anyone recommend something maybe a putty or cream? Thank you

Marko polo: Dangg i really needed this....thank you Robin!!❤

Ariane Franz Delos Reyes: Robin we have the same hair length right now. Love and support from Philippines !

JPaulo G: Excellent, I've been waiting for this!

Paul: another great video Robin just purchased the go big treatment spray do you put a primer tonic on first before the big treatment or leave the tonic off when using this product

Caleb Nelson: That’s my favorite hairstyle on you that I’ve seen mate, cheers. On another note, do you think that Aveda Texture Tonic makes Aveda Thickening Tonic obsolete?

Grizzlygizmo: Can you do a full brand review on House 99? Would be awesome, love the brand!

Memories: I've always thought you have the looks and personality of a great oscar-winning actor!! With that being said.. LOOKING GOOD AS ALWAYS ROBIN!!!

Oliver M: I’m a nurse and I don’t have much times in the morning before work as I have to crunch in time for a run. I have fine that is the same length as in this video and it always falls in my face especially because I’m wearing an N95 all day long! Is there anything I can use really quickly in the morning to avoid hair in my face throughout the day? I tried gel but with the N95 it just looks like my hair is greasy and messy:(

nutmalone: Do you think clays will still be good for long hair or will i have to completely change my hair products?

Crusty Bacon: It looks awesome! I feel like youre some sort of hair scientist

Arsalon X: What were the measurements of your hair here for the top, sides and the back? Thanks in advance

bag ofhammers: I love your hair this length

Daniel Johnson: Do hair products really matter when it comes down to hair length and hairstyle?

Bobser: hey guys, im growing a longer hair, do i need to cut my hair at the back of my neck or leave it as it is ?

Sam Sanders: Idk if this sounds weird or not but I can scrape oil gunk stuff out with my fingers and the only way I can get rid of it is if I use very drying shampoo. What do I need to do? Thanks

Kunduk: Hi Robin, if you get the chance to read this, may you please start to do videos about your clothing style. Like where you buy your clothes and how to make certain clothes look good. Thank you!

bobae777: if i can suggest, and yes i find that your current hairstyle fits you, try getting a mullet like David Bowie's in 1987. you'll see a bunch of pics and I really think it would look good on you, you'll just need to grow the back and sides longer haha

O N: Never cut your hair Robin It looks sooo goood

AK Liporada: Love the video Robin! But a quick question, where did you get that shirt??? I really like that style and can't say I've had any luck finding anything like it :)

UseYourIllusion: Any tips for bed head? What I should do to my hair when I wake up? I feel like it’s bad to leave your hair especially when it’s all smushed in from your pillow

S M: I finally found someone whose hair looks like mine

Andreas Nutritionist: That’s probably your best hairstyle over the years lol

ok.tashii: You look better with long hair keep it up

Vincent: Robin, is your hair still longer on the top than the sides/back? How long would you guess your hair is here?

It's Premology: This suits You... You should keep the long hair without shortening the sides

Stephen Jones: I envy your gorgeous hair. You have perfect hair for growing really long.

GERCovers: Lot of time, lot of process, lot of tools, just grab a nice pomade, take 1 or 2 scoops, style it with a brush or a comb and that's about it

L0W GRADE: I honestly like the messy/wild look haha

GeeDriscoll: Lifesaver. Got very similar hair to you right now due to lockdown it's very...different!

nah_ual: WAIT WHAT?! Bruh this has a criminally low amount of views, this man is great!

david woollam: Looking great , long hair is fun. Too many fades about so over them

Omar Ali: Do u treat ur hair with keratin, or is it just naturally straight like this??

Kimie Fabulous: Love that hairdryer. Thanks for linking it.

Travis Balthasar: After u put the thickening spray on u had a Harry Style look going on

Taufiq Hanafi: Hello robin should i cut my sideburn while growing it out? cause my sideburn is too long
