To connect to instagram first before we begin, i press that button too fast, but if you are here and you're patient with me, thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. We had a little problem with the internet, so i had to get that up and running. So so sorry, i'm late so we're connected to both instagram and youtube. You guys welcome man. Today'S video is entitled. I stopped, and i kind of want to give you all my 4c natural hair updates, and this is just with me personally. You know nobody in my family, so i want to talk about the reason why i lock my hair and if you are in my mind my natural hair life, facebook group, you probably already know, but for my family on youtube and instagram. I definitely want to let you guys know the reason why i, like my hair, we're going to talk about the type of content that you can expect going forward, because my hair is going to be locked and the products that i'm going to be using. On my hair now now before we end, i kind of want to go into another topic off topic of natural hair um, for the reason why i titled this video i've stopped so, but before we jump into today's content, we definitely got ta shout out, love naturals. Now, love naturals, actually sponsored last month july, is sponsoring this month august and we'll be re, be sponsoring september, and she sent me if you don't know the owner's name kim. But the owner kim sent me three of her wash day products and our winner last month received her package already, i'm so sorry it was late, tyrone, i'm so so sorry, thank you for being patient with me um, but i have two more of these and later On today, hopefully, if not today by tomorrow, i will post um the winner for july. Is it july yeah last month's winner, i'm off, because the winner before june's winner received her product late. So i'm off so a couple of updates with love naturals. Now she has transitioned to only selling on amazon.com. So if you try to go to her personal website, you will be directed to her amazon store, so she on sales on amazon, okay and the last update i got ta. Give you guys is the love me and leave in conditioner. I was so crazy about, and most of you probably found out about love naturals from me. Raven about this product has been placed by the long, lasting moisture. Now i have tried this product and i can say the moisture definitely lasts longer with this product than her first original leave-in. Conditioner now y'all know me, i am honest: okay, i do like the detangling properties better on this leave-in versus this one, but if you are in the market, looking for a decent leave-in, that's going to last you, you definitely want to give love naturals a try and If you haven't seen her pretty packaging, i'm going to hold it up to the camera here and again, if you're new - and you probably already heard me - mention the other platform, i'm looking back and forth because we're both live on instagram in youtube. Okay, so that is the updates for love, naturals and people. I know it's been a while, since i uploaded an actual video, a pre-recorded video, but just know that the 2022 giveaways are still going on. Fortunately, i was going to say unfortunately, but fortunately our members at the my natural hair life facebook group has an advantage with our monthly giveaways because they interact with me. I interact with them on a daily basis versus a weekly basis. Um you know compared to when i'm on instagram and when i'm on youtube. So if you're interested in joining us on facebook, please look in the description box. I am actually going to drop the link right now in the chat. While i get my screen loaded up here, but if you want more entries or a greater chance at winning, you definitely want to join us on facebook because, as y'all can see, your girl can take a break from youtube in instagram like a real real nice break. So and we're actually going to talk about that at the end of this live. So let me connect here and if you are on the recording, please know that the link is will also be posted in the description box. But let me drop this really quick and then we're going to continue again kim. Thank you so much for sponsoring three months for me and then after that, i'm gon na do my own little spill with you guys. It is just gon na come from me personally. Okay, i got the link in there. Don'T kick off this video right now go to the facebook group after today's live and please i have to say this answer the questions to get in the group. If you don't, you will be denied, you will be denied okay, so for my people, who have been here for some time now, who has been a part of like my community y'all, already know, i mentioned at the beginning of this year. That watch day was just coming becoming too much for me like seriously because of my length, it would take me hours hours, people to detangle my hair, and it became really frustrating frustrating and stressful to me personally. So with that being said, i got ta tell you big chopping or just like cutting my hair. Shorter was not an option because i've worked so hard to get this length right. I mean we all want natural long hair. You know, as our natural hair goes right, but when you actually get it, it's a different story. It'S it's not that fun! You know - and i've mentioned on this slide before that - i'm going to slow down on doing product reviews, because my hair just takes all day to do and, as you all know, if i run into a product that doesn't work for me, i got ta start over. You know what i mean so yeah we're not doing that going forward, so i've decided to lock my hair, because truly my hair was dictating how my week went and, if i'm being honest it it it dictated how. My month, like, i was truly pushing off wash day because i didn't want to spend hours in the mirror, detangling my hair, and that would affect my money making activities because my hair wasn't done. I didn't want to go nowhere. You know. Fortunately, i do work for myself and i'm happy about that, but, as you all know, those who work for themselves out there, you can't be like lazy when you make your own schedule like you got ta, maintain your attendance in your own business or you ain't, making. No money, so my hair was dictating a lot of what i've made and that became a problem for me. So i decided to lock my hair, because i truly just wanted to eliminate that detangling step, i'm still going to be shampooing, i'm still going to be deep conditioning um, but i'm mainly going to be using leave-in conditioners going forward. This might become the leave-in condition queen channel like seriously. For those who know my daughter's hair is blocked, so i have experienced on a day-to-day basis before her um. I didn't have as much experience, but when she uh or when i locked her hair. I kind of know like the best practices uh when it comes to like retaining your locked hairs so going forward. A lot of my product reviews will be mainly um, leave-in conditioners. However, majority of my content going forward will be focusing on loose natural hair because my son, timothy hair, is still loose right and the reason why i created this channel um or you know the instagram page - was to help struggling naturals. And i know personally, it is harder to maintain loose natural hair than it is locked hairs. So, even though you you all, may not see a lot, you know product review videos, because my son truly doesn't care about definition. It'S not like you wear like a twist out or anything like that right, even though my hair will be locked, a lot of my content will be still about loose natural hair, and that is just what it's going to be um. Let me see here with something else that i want to tell you guys. Oh here we go so being honest with you guys january 2022 um. I decided to take my channel my youtube channel a little bit more serious than i did the previous years right and when i made that decision, i decided against locking my hair earlier because again, a lot of my content or a lot of my viewers are here For loose natural hair they're not here for loc hair, and i just knew that i was going to lose a lot of my viewers or a lot of you know my youtube ranking. If i lock my hair, however, i've truly stopped putting other people's needs before mine. Like let me tell you guys what that led to, because i decided against doing this earlier in the year. I got to a point where i truly procrastinated with wash day and i've went weeks. Y'All probably noticed i would weeks without uploading um a video, because i i truly just didn't, want to do my hair, not to mention it's been the summer time and my kids been home and i can't juggle too many balls like i just can't. I eventually drop everything right so making the decision at the very end here to just go forward with locking my hair um allowed me to stop making natural hair my focus like the focus of what i do and i just want to say life in general um. I don't know if i'm over exaggerated when i say that, but my hair dictated a lot of like my day-to-day action and because i went weeks without doing my hair. It did impact like my self-esteem, because i was just in the house. You know with a ponytail of myself, not how other people do me and if you know me personally, there's only about like five people in my circle that can truly hurt my feelings, but i'm talking about, as i always talk about on this channel, is how i View myself like how i feel about myself and my message here, i might be going um far off here, but let me reel it in my message here is: if your hair is dictating like your day-to-day activities and a young lady on the live before actually asks What what she, what do she do now that her hair is past her shoulder um, and i expressed the same concern that i don't know. I mean it's just going to take hours, but if your hair is dictating a lot of like your day-to-day action, i encourage you day-to-day action and how you feel about yourself. I encourage you, you can reach out to me for solutions and we can go over a couple of like what's best for you, but i encourage you to find the solution for you. I mean we see a lot of videos about. You know a lot of like big youtubers or influencers big chopping again, and they have a lot of you know, content to redo because now they're on you know a separate journey, but the solution for me and i'm not going to push this on my channel now That my hair is locked is to is not to push the solution of locking your hair. This is just that was just my solution. You understand what i'm saying and it's, and i'm really really talking to the 4c uh girls because detangling i know natural hair in general. Uh is challenging, but when it comes to detangling - and you have really really coily hair um, you have to take a different approach to what your journey is going to look like when you get at your goal length. We all strive for long hair, but for those who, for those of us who are already there and now, are you know facing a new challenge of? Do i do my hair or do i go to work or do i you know play with my kids? You know whatever that is it's not both like you have to eliminate something. So my message is to just encourage you guys find your own solution. When i say i'm blocking my hair. That is not something that i'm pushing on other people to do, and even though i will be sharing my journey on this channel again, a lot of my content will be around lose natural hair. You guys can absolutely, and i i encourage you guys to do this drop topics that your or concerns or questions your questions, your concerns about your natural hair, and i would do my best to get as creative as i can would help me with. You know that concern no problem making a video um with my son as the model. Okay, so i don't know if my point got across there, but let me just recap: just because my hair is locked and you know moving forward. My content is going to be like about my loc journey. I'M not pushing that off as a solution for a queen. Who is in the position that i am where you got to pick your hair or you know whatever you got to do in life at that time, i'm not going to push that just so y'all know. However, i just want to be honest with you all um. I i kind of lost my motivation to try out new products, one because i can't really put creams on here too, because before this, it just took forever to do my hair and i am not going to be buying or reaching out to brands about trying different Stylers um, because i will only be using stylus on my son's hair. Okay, i hope that got across. However, my goal, which was the goal at the beginning of this year, is to continue to talk about mental health and natural hair. How you feel about yourself, you know going forward. My only goal is to help that struggling natural feel better about her crown her whole body. You know i will not probably be doing lifestyle videos, because my life is not that exciting. However, i i just want to say if you are that struggling natural, please continue to post your questions. Please continue to reach out because, just because my hair is locked up, i mean that you know i haven't went through the journey to get to where i'm at now. Okay and again, i encourage you guys to reach out to us or join us on facebook um, because the point of creating that facebook group was to bring the community together and get tips from somebody who hair is uniquely like yours. That didn't make sense, but i hope you got my point uniquely like yours. Okay, so join us on facebook, if you really are struggling with your natural hairs. So the reason why i titled this video i stopped um because locking my hair allowed me to stop making hair my central focus. I'Ve stopped doing that. Another thing that i've stopped doing is just put my loved one needs, and i i i am going to keep pushing this before myself, not talking about straight talking about your like core family. Believe me, i now eat for my kids, not as a selfish thing, but just to have energy to handle them. So that is my spiel today, you guys, if you have questions of like or you want to know more about the decision. Um of locking my hair. Please post those questions and i would definitely go over those, but this video was to tell you i didn't mention. I am in love with this on jackie's quench y'all already know this was a staple, but i'm finding that it is working really really good. On my current hair now my hair is not, you know fully locked right now, but this is what i use to moisturize my hair, probably on a weekly basis, and i have a feeling, i'm probably going to stick with this and the tgi leave-in tgin leave-in, that I rave about on this channel now in regards to love naturals. I love this on loose hair. I have to be honest with you guys. I love this on loose hair, definitely loved it on my loose hair. When i, you know didn't twist my hair before this, but on lock hair, it is heavy. It is a very concentrated product, so you don't need much. I if you try it. I recommend that you use water with it um because it is going to not only last you you know further through the week, but a little bit goes. A long way is what i'm saying. Okay, so y'all already know just before we hit these comments. The giveaways for 2022 are still going on. Once my kids go back to school, then i'm gon na be posting more content. I am not going to stretch myself then this year. That was one of the commitments that i made to myself. Don'T believe me thing hasn't been perfect, but overall, just keeping that commitment of being intentional about putting my needs first feeding myself first has made such a difference to me and if you, if you was on the first live this year, i talked about not making everything About hair and this, this locking process is giving me that ability to not make everything about here for me personally, so let's go to the chat off the topic of what i normally i mean. It was kind of on the topic, but y'all know. Majority of these lives are like have a a goal to it like a message to it, but this live was mainly just to give you guys an update of. What'S going on with me, um and letting you guys know that i am okay with being selfish. Going forward this year, this life, let's see hey beautiful people on instagram, hey julie, yes, julie! I am on youtube too. You probably already know that, because that is me um answering that question real late. So give me one second: hey eddie ebony! Thank you! Eddie you're! The best too so ebony, the facebook group name is called my my natural hair life and, if you dm me a facebook group, the keyword, facebook group i'll, send you the link after the live. Okay. Of course nobody had questions, because this was just about me. It wasn't about y'all, oh that just sounds so selfish. Thank you, kia, okay, so kia just reminded me, please, you guys put your purple heart um. If you have a comment or in the live chat on youtube. Let me know you was here, so i can give you credit. If you want the details to our giveaways for 2022, please come back and check the description box for that link. I'Ll go over all the details there. If you are on instagram, you can dm me the keyword, giveaway and then i'll send you the link um, because once i close that live chat on instagram, i'm not going to see anybody's. Like you know, the replay of the live chat so and cara is on here, and i truly have to give a big shout out to cara, like y'all, do not know behind the scenes. She helped me out so much, especially in a facebook group, especially on instagram and big shout out to you cara. Thank you. I'Ve adopted the concept of like when things just feel off to me, or i'm just feeling stressed, and i don't know what it is. I kind of stop forcing, or this is a better way to say it. I'Ve stopped forcing my way through my anxiety, like i stopped forcing situations, so i pulled back a lot, especially this year, and care has stepped up when i had my times where i just i just had to pull back. So thank you. Hey sasha, all right gina's! On here, marsha's on here, thank you sean. I appreciate that. I i don't know what you said, what you were referring to as far as good for you, the exact line, but i know you're rooting for me. So i appreciate you, love naturals. Leave-In is 48 on amazon y'all. That is a lot. I'M not gon na lie. That'S that is a lot and i'll be honest with you. I feel like, if you try it, you have to okay, i feel like you, have to try it and determine if that 48 dollar type uh price tag is worth it for you, okay, i can give y'all my opinion. However, truly you have to decide whether that 48 price tag is worth it for you, but i'm with you, that's deep, that's real, steep, yes ma'am sean! I still will be promoting healthy hair. I'M never going to stop that. Never ever ever ever ever never natural hair is definitely my passion and it's kind of crazy. How you two work - and i get a lot of influences - do like lifestyle, vid videos, because you know we're more than just our hair um. So i may share like personal life stories, but honestly, don't go on excited in my life. It would be a waste of video to me misty. I oh came over hi. No, you didn't miss a lot. I was mainly talking about myself. I i didn't have a a uh, a valuable message today. I was being real selfish on this video. Yes, i absolutely agree: detangling is - and i've said this before so misty says not fourteen but detangling. My hair is not easy, meaning she's, not 4c, but detangling. Her hair is not easy absolutely and that is the most vital part like vital step of your wash day, because i guarantee you, if you don't, do it right and you don't you know, i'm saying you do it in a hurry. You'Re gon na snatch out a lot of your hair, like you just, are and you're not gon na get it back as soon as you want it like it'll grow back, but it ain't gon na grow back as soon as you want it. So you have to slow down, and that was my issue with when it came to detangling. I was tired. However, i knew i wasn't going to rip out my hair, so i was just mad in the mirror. Taking my time i was just angry. I did not count my locks, i did not uh, oh okay, we back on instagram. I did not. Let me tell you this took me days if you are in the facebook group. I shared like the process, but this took me days days hours, oh my god. So after i was done, i was just done like i was just over it and honestly i haven't even been wearing my hair down like this. It'S been in a half ponytail sitting on top of my head, because i'm still recovering, i don't know once i gained my strength, i would count my locks. Yes, you have to do what is best for you and your hair, your lifestyle. That is why i changed my hair, routine and products. This is coming from gina. I went from five hour sessions to a one hour wash session gina, i'm jealous i'm not gon na lie. I wish i could spend it out. I'Ma be able to do it now, though, but i wish i could have spent the hour on my loose natural hair like so unrealistic for me personally, i'm so happy for you, gina hair is beautiful by the way. If you're, not in my facebook group, you see a lot of like her journeys, her journey her products that she use the reason behind it, which i really love her posts, are so informative. It'S ridiculous, beautiful, ridiculous, good, ridiculous, hey lisa! What about your sister? Would she be a good model she so lisa? My sister has been lazy. She haven't been wanting to come up with my house, so i can like put her in front of the camera and i can't take my camera equipment to her um because i won't have a way to like truly set it up there. But once she come back over, she definitely gon na be a model like she already know, but she's been avoiding me. I mean not in a bad way like we talk every day, but as far as getting in front of the camera she already know every time she come over. She got to do a youtube video. She would still be a model going forward. However, i'ma have to go and drag her over here, so sasha says i really miss the group this month. You, ladies, are the best. Oh, i understand believe me. I understand so sasha said she had to take. You know a break from uh social media. I understand believe me, and even i'm not really a consumer of social media. I mean like i watch youtube videos, not not about hair, but you know course shows and stuff like that. But when i take my weight, my or remove myself from um consuming content, my stress levels go down dramatically dramatically. So i understand, please be careful with your new logs. They are very liberating, but after 17 years i've developed, oh yeah, i understand traction alopecia, i cut my locks off and have been recovering for a year. Thank you queen. I definitely will in hindsight i would have twisted less not as tight and i would have found the most moisturizing products to use. I feel like i appreciate that advice. I feel like i'm on the right track because i retwist my daughter's locks, probably like once every two months and i have grown to love that frizzy. You know, look on her just her natural state. It'S so beautiful to me, oh my god, y'all just don't know and after like or you know, continue to go through her journey has given me confidence, because you know i just didn't know how to like, like the lock lifestyle was so just seeing my daughter, and I prefer her hair, not retwisted, right, like i do it like if she's going to like an event or something like that, but i love that natural state and i'm just hoping that i love mines too jerry. I appreciate you too love. I love the family and you created the group. Thank you care. I appreciate that absolutely will you be doing more diy, ayurvedic rose water, etc for your likes. Would you still find that helpful? Oh, we would still find that helpful. I'M sorry about that um! Maybe not, and i want to be mean this is with love with a whole. I love um. I was really basic when it came to my my loose natural hair and i feel like i've gotten this far um with, like maintaining my my you know my strands. I would probably be really really basic with my luck, hair like i'm so freaking basic with my daughter's locked hair. I feel bad for not doing too much. You know what i'm saying like when i'm done with her like washing and deep conditioning. I still stand there like i'm done. This is it i feel like. I should be doing more, i'm so basic with my hair, because my primary focus is self-love for me, my primary like. I would rather spend my energy on continuing to be nice to myself, because it is it's. It'S been a lot of years that i was just not nice to myself that i didn't give myself grace and when it comes to dispersing energy for that 24 hours, i would rather, that energy be spent on just uplifting myself and not needing like outside validation. You get what i'm saying, because we as humans, we got 24 hours in a day yeah. You know everybody talk about like time management, but i really believe in like energy management, and i don't spend a lot of energy on my hair, because my peace of mind has become a priority for me and i mean just being real. There was a lot of years that i just wasn't happy with myself, so i want to spend my energy on that. Yes, thank you all for your kind words. That'S from gina. What products do you use on your daughter's locks, your daughter's locks, so it oh? I should do an actual video for that. I don't have any by me, but um. The allocate black soap shampoo is what i use to shampoo her hair. I use that on everybody in my house. That is like a staple shampoo for me um, so i still use that on her. The honey and sage uh deep conditioner by ala, k. Naturals, is what i use on my daughter's uh hair. I only like that on her locs and the conditional love uh conditioner like a rinse out, you can use this as a rinse out or a deep conditioner by love naturals, and this is actually how i came in contact with love naturals, because i fell in love With this on my daughter's hair, now i would say, because i've experienced like my daughter's hair loose like i knew what products work great for her and she has like really fine thin strands um. It wasn't hard to like transition to retaining the moisture in her locked hair, because i already knew - or i had an idea of like where to start and the same products that i used on my daughter's loose hair is the same products that i use on her Lock, hair minus butters, like i don't, do butters on her hair at all uh and i feel like for anybody, and i don't know if anybody's you know considering locks, i'm just going to state this, just in case somebody's on a recording for anybody who is pursuing Locks, i i think - and this is my personal opinion - i think that is best to get to know your hair loose before you lock it, because once you lock it it's harder to retain it, because you have to think you're, not unraveling, anything um. So the strands. That'S inside that lock right! If you don't know what you're doing are going to dry up, they're, going to eventually break off and because they're inside the lock, which is like the core of the lock. You know your your. The tips of your hair is going to eventually dry up and fall off so because i've had the experience or the pleasure of getting her hair to a point where it was at her healthiest when it was loose like. I have absolutely no problem maintaining her hair locked, so that truly is it. I only use allocate uh, shampoo and deep conditioner and either love naturals, deep conditioner right. I rotate that and leave-ins that's it and i prefer to have the tgin either the rose water or her green tea leave-in on my daughter's hair, and that is it not much to go over at all. So i am excited about saving money in that when my hair is fully locked, because i know that i won't be investing in stylers. So i am not worried about build up and the reason. Why is because the products that i use are really really loose in texture, right um, which is why i don't use any butters like heavy creams, um, that's kind of far away. I don't want to get up and show y'all that i'm wearing shorts. Not you know. No dress, pants or anything but um. The products that i use are really really loose in texture like really really thin, has a. They all have a really really thin consistency um. So i am not worried about build up, which is the reason why i only use leave-ins on her and a whole lot of water. The td i am leaving either the rose water or the green tea. I use more water than i use leave-in on her. So yes, my i was initially concerned, but i'm no longer concerned because i only use thin loose products on her lisa asks. Have you ever used the girl plus hair products line? I love the shampoo. The line is designed for women with protective styles, and but i just use the shampoo shampoo, because it's very good for me. I use the deep conditioner. I'Ve tried the deep conditioner with girl plus hair. I didn't like it. I did not like the deep conditioner and when it comes to trying like a new brand, i only well. I initially tried the deep conditioner first before i invest in anything else like as far as like a style or a shampoo, and you know it's just been in my experience that if i don't like the deep conditioner, i'm probably not gon na, like anything else um, I have been proven wrong with other brands, but that's just the method that i go through. If i don't like the deep conditioner, you know that product is like off the table for me so yeah. I probably won't try it in the future um, because i i i really. I really do like the deep conditioner so, but i will if she have a good sale, because she recommends the shampoo i may look into it, i'm just so in love with, like the texture, the loose texture, the the liquid um form shampoos that i don't really You know enjoy cream cream consistencies when it comes to shampoos just checking instagram again, life is not a waste. You can help someone else's. Oh. Thank you tyron. I appreciate that glad. You are okay with taking time for yourself absolutely and i'll be honest with you guys. I was a little bit um, i don't know. I had a little bit of anxiety about the topic today because i was like yep. I ain't i'm about to talk about me, so i hope people stay because i ain't offering anything for anybody else, but you all that is all for me today. You guys not how to keep these lives under an hour. The winner for july will be posted either. If not by today will be posted tomorrow, i'm still responding to some comments and again, if you are interested in the uh giveaways that we're doing for 2022 people, we still doing them, even though i haven't uploaded a video. So, if you're interested in those details, if you're on instagram dm me, the keyword, giveaway and i'll, send you the video with the details or if you're, on the recording on youtube, just see the description box and the link will be placed there. I am out, i think i responded to everybody. I appreciate you guys coming through, thank you and as soon as my kids go to school, i'ma start making more content. All right guys have a beautiful week and i will be chatting with you soon. All right, bye, bye, guys bye, youtube

Jermaine Au Natural: Oh wow! I like the locs! They look good. I think you should balance both showing locs and loose. I’ve noticed more people locing their hair and that could be good for new viewers needing/wanting to learn about locs. Congratulations on doing what works for you and makes your life easier.

Zee Jay: I totally get it.... I've been thinking about doing it myself because it interferes with me working out in my home gym which I love and during the summer months my hair will not last after a single workout. However, I will say years ago when I joined the 30 day hair detox and stop using raw oils and butter in my hair, wash days became a breeze. I have very thick coarse 4b hair and detangling alone use to take me an hour or longer. Now I detangle in minutes and I can shampoo, condition, detangle and style in the same day I'm going somewhere and my hair will be ready!! I am now a believer that the manageability of our hair may be predicated on the products we use and how we are using them.... I love your locs thanks for sharing!!

Sharonda Frazier: People are telling me to loc my hair, but I'm kinda nervous about that. My hair is past my shoulders but it tangles alot and the detangling process is alot. I'm on the fence about locking.

Fine Natural Hair ROCKS: Oh wow! You LOC'D!!! It looks really good on you Jheri! Sooo pretty! Luv naturals has amazing products! Now I'm craving a re-up from Kimmay's Team!

Dawn Johnson: your hair looks good. I will only let my hair grow into a shoulder length bob . I understand. Long hair is time consuming.

The Payton Family Vlogs: I had a feeling you were going to lock your hair!! Beautiful!

Sharonda Frazier: love your hair.

Natural Me: Hi, how often do you was you and your daughter's locs?
