Hey guys it's Jayla and, like I said the title, I'm gon na be showing you how to use your Denman brush. So, first, I'm just gon na take my hair out of this bun and yes, I'm fully aware that I look like Hermione circa, a Sorcerer's Stone, but that's just what happens when you leave your hair in a bun for days. The version I'm using is the D 4, which comes with 9 rows. I'Ve already adjusted mine, a half 7 and I'm gon na take one out so we're gon na be working with 6. So I found that adjusting the brush can be uh yeah. It'S just really difficult, however. After pulling and doing this incorrectly, I found a better way to figure this out. Thankfully, I have found the easy way to do this, which is just to grab the top and pull it outwards, and it should pop out like that and I'm gon na go and try and take out the egg middle row. That'S just smack down right there in the middle, so you just pull on it and it should pop out like this and then just keep pulling. And now you can see the holes of where I took the row out, and this is what the brush looks like on the other side. Now we're just gon na close it, it can be a little tricky, it might not fit or stake shut, but you're just gon na hold it together and the side that has the DS is gon na, be the side that sticks out so now we're just gon Na do this method I like to call this motion push. That'S because you a smooth the sides while pushing at the same time, and that just seems like it's been the easiest way to get this back in there and then once you kind of finish that just take your palm and push the rest in. So this is the finished brush with six rows. Alright, so I just got out of the shower and my hair is partially too tangled, but we're just going to add some product to make this whole styling process go smoothly. So, first I'm just going to take some more water and start wetting, my hair, just because, even though I showered my hair does dry pretty quickly, so we're just gon na try and saturate the hair. Next, I'm just taking my Garnier Fructis smoothing, treat one-minute hair mask, and this is the avocado one and I'm just gon na focus that on the driest parts of my hair, which are my ends, the back of my head. Just because that's where you put your head on seat rests and you lay on it and then I'm gon na do these top pieces right here and right behind my ears, because I get really dry there as well. Now I'm taking my Eden natural curl, defining cream and I'm basically gon na do the same thing, but with this product I add, I like to add a little bit and then add more just because, if I add too much at once, my it can be a Little too heavy for my hair. So now I'm just going to distribute the product with the brush, and this brush is really good for that, and I think on the left side that I'm doing now, you can definitely see how well it distributes it into tangles and just makes the hair look uniform. Okay, so here is the fun part. This is where I'm going to take a section of my hair, and I'm just gon na start brushing it in the typical brushing motion just to show you guys how the brush works on its own see how it does define really well, there's literally like no frizz. This is all very good for detangling, however, the Denman brush is a styling brush and we can maximize its potential by doing a different styling technique. So here I'm just gon na go underneath the hair and, as I get closer to the bottom, I'm gon na curl the brush over see how it has created these perfect little ringlets here is a side-by-side comparison. Just look at the way the brush clumps the curls into ringlets when you do the curling motion. So now I'm just going to finish up the right side of my head and then I will show you another side-by-side comparison, all right. So I just finished the right side and, as you can see, it is much more defined and frizz free and keep in mind that both sides have already been brushed with the Denman brush. But the right side is the only side. I use the curling technique on so now. I'M just gon na go and finish up doing the left side of my hair and then I'm going to show you what both sides look like after being styled. So here is what both sides of my hair look when they are fully finished, being styled using the curling method, like I said before, super defined, super frizz, free and now just to lock in all that definition, I'm gon na use, my le looks extreme-sport gel and I'M just going to kind of coat my hair with it. The thing with this brush is that it's going to give you a ton of shrinkage, so I'm gon na try and press the product in and then minimize the amount of times I'm scrunching. So now, I'm just gon na take this soft t-shirt and just kind of lightly scrunch the excess water and product out of my hair, and then I'm gon na wrap my hair in it like a towel, and I kind of just do this and let it sit For about couple hours or so really just until I go to bed and then I take it out before I sleep, so that is it and then I will show you the results in the morning. Okay, so here are the final results from the Denman brush. As you can see, my hair is pretty defined and actually the more defined sections are actually underneath. So here, like oh look at that, see that that is just a ringlet. Let'S just wait into this leg yep if it looks a little bit frizzy. It is because I slept on it last night and I took a nap today and I tossed it on my sleep now. I do have this wall silk pillowcase here, so that definitely helps. I showed you guys a clip of my hair before you get a ton of shrinkage. My hair was definitely not this short, it's more of a matter of just styling. It shake it out. Add some hair oil you're free to go. Thank you for watching and don't forget to write, thank you for watching and don't forget don't forget to hit thank you for watching. Don'T forget her head. Why do I keep saying forehead? Thank you guys for watching. Don'T forget it's a subscribe. Don'T what thank you for watching, don't forget to hit subscribe?

Jayla A.: WHY I REMOVED THE ROWS: I bought the D4, 9 row brush, the most popular one you see YouTube tends to be the D3, 7 row. While my hair is long and thick I personally don’t feel the 9 rows are necessary so I wanted to customize mine to be like the D3 by removing 2-3 rows and dispersing the rest evenly along the brush. I find the more rows the more my curls get separated and the less, the chunkier they are: 6 rows has been the sweet spot for me. Hope this helps!!

Hannabee15: I am African American and have been straightening my hair for years. It's pretty healthy, but it's begun thinning in certain areas. I started wearing my hair natural (curly) in August because it keeps me from using a ton of heat on my hair. My hair can be kind of weird and do it's own thing, so it's been difficult getting the style to come out the same every time. However... the little tip you gave about curling the ends of your hair under, changed EVERYTHING!!! My curls have tons of definition now and they last all day. Thank you for posting this video!

Valentina Gomez: Holy crap everyone talks about this brush but NO ONE HAS MENTIONED HOW TO USE IT

MonkeyLord: I just saw this now, I’m a guy and my hair goes down to my chin. I watched this before showering and I decided to try it out, I own a normal brush and have 3b curls. After it drying by only using water and the brush, my hair turned out the best it’s ever been! I’m so happy rn I may sound weird but this small trick made my hair look so much better thanks! Keep up with the tips I am so happy! Thank you so much !!!!!!!

Amy C: thank you for this! i recently got the brush but i felt like it separated my curls making them look stringy rather than defined i will definitely use this method more!

Ash: Just a tip: when putting the denman brush back together after cleaning or adjusting your rows it goes back together so much easier if you just run some water over it so it’s wet when sliding it back into place

Luna: This is literally life changing, just came across your page and I love your hair videos. Super helpful!

Yahawashi_Is_The_Messiah: Great tutorial. My hair is super thick, so I use the 9 row to get maximum coverage when brushing. I have 4B-4C hair, so this brush and method is perfect. I like that you kept your mistakes in the video. Everyone wants to be flawless in their videos nowadays, so seeing you mess up shows how honest & confident of a person you are. oh! BTW, if you're looking for a natural alternative to hair gels then I'd recommend flax seed gel. It's full of vitamins and minerals and it doesn't flake like store gels.

Amber Ramel: ....currently in cosmetology school and LITERALLY NO ONE HAS TOLD ME THAT YOU CAN REMOVE ROWS OF BRISTLES FROM THE DENMAN BRUSHHHH..LIKE WTF?

「」!Moondrop!「」: I'm letting my hair dry right now, I'm using some of the stuff you used. I have 5 minutes until its done drying I'll tell you guys how it ends out! edit: It's trying to curl again, Thanks! My hair somewhat curled for years and its curlying again. :)

rachael brown: I had a really hard time removing it as well, but someone finally told me that it removes extremely well when wet. I tried it and it Totally works!!

Donkey Days: Wait a minute- You can remove rows? You can define curls? I’ve owned 2 of these brushes for years and knew none of this! I will need to try this out.

Sydney Rodriguez: I'm Soo excited to try this on my daughter. She was blessed with curly hair but as it gets longer the curls are starting to loosen. I might have to try it tonight. Will come back with an update thx for the tip!!!!

Taylor Laios: hi! your hair is beautiful!! I was wondering, what’s the purpose of taking some of the bristles out? what’s the difference between adding or removing rows

Mama x Candy: Why I am always watching curly hair videos my hair is straight

Curly T: Okay I rarely comment on youtube videos but this is THE ONLY tutorial after years and hours of searching that ACTUALLY worked and was sooo simple , nothing extra bless ur heart girl

Remember the Why: Thanks for posting this. I’ve been out of the curly hair online community for several years and your video is the first I’d heard of the Denman. Of course, once I ordered one, I immediately recognized it from my childhood. ;) I don’t know that it made my curls clumpier but it definitely mad them lighter and bouncier. This brush will make second and third day hair so much easier!

jess0nfire: Girl you are a freaking genius with this little end curling technique. I need a denman brush asap.

doreeneb: Woah, I have tightly coiled hair and can't wait to try this technique out!!! Thanks for sharing

Fa.Ben-Beauty: I had hair like you when I was younger. My parents never allowed me to keep my hair open when I went out of the house. But my mom didn't know either how to take care of my hair. I knew shampoo only and that's all. I had frizz and broken hair af but it was strong and thick! So now yrs and 2 pregnancies later my hair is not as strong as before anymore and my curls are almost gone and it's thin. So i give u the tip to take so much care of ur hair. Ppl like u show me how to take care of my hair now and it already became better

Happyme!: My mind is blown! Genuinely how can something as simple as turning the ends under change the definition! Must try this!

amdouglas3028: Thank goodness for sleepless nights or I would never have come across this video. I tried this method this morning and it was a totally different head of hair. Thanks!

Emily Rosenzweig: Super helpful, and what a difference! Thanks for the side by side comparison!

Trashley: the devil works hard but the denman brush works harder

Immaculate Organic Soaps: You might want to try a light serum when you style your hair the nex t day, helps to keep manipulation frias at bay. Keep making videos, great job so far.

Kim Quinn: Love your video. I am 59 now but back when I was 17 a hairdresser raved about this Denman brush and I have used them for years. Wonnnnderful brush! Thanks for this info.

Mz Clementine: I always had long long hair. When I was 10 I was allowed to get my hair cut from the back of my knees to the tip of my pants. I thought it was short!!! So excited, people thought I was a little loopy for thinking my hair was short. Well it was short to me, that’s all that mattered. Now I have naturally curly hair. My baby hairs always would curl. My long heavy hair would wave. I was 12, and finally was able to get a real short haircut. My mom was worried my hair wouldn’t curl the same, so she had my hair permed and cut. OMGoodness!!! I instantly learned about shrinkage. I would have to carry a water bottle with he because my hair would frizz and shrink so bad. I learned that I indeed had curly hair. Just under a kinky curl. They were tight curls. Never ever again. I thought... Now I’m 41. And I have greys coming in. They do not follow the other hairs protocol at all. Totally missed the memo, that “curling is the look” ... They are like white wires, that have a mind of their own. Almost electrical in nature. As if I am standing in the midst of a ball of static electricity. I’m actually considering getting my hair permed again. The bottom and back of my hair looks amazing. The top and now the sides are doing their own Tesla dance. I always thought white silver grey hair was beautiful. I wondered if one day I would have pretty white hair. My husband says... “well you do, it’s just that it looks like the bad meany witch type of style.” Wait what?? Did I just hear that correctly? I look like a bad meany witch type? He chuckles and says yah, you know the wild looking ones. Okay... moment of silence please. ☠️ My hair has befuddled me. I don’t identify with this crazed hair I have going on, and I’m stuck in a what should I do situation. The color I don’t mind to much. I would rather keep it natural. But I’m not liking straightening my hair all the time. And if I allow it to curl: go through the whole process of making it nice and that it will last 3-4 days. I’m left with mean witchy hair. I so don’t like it. On the positive side I have some wicked white strips in my hair. “Je n'ai jamais fait attention aux petites choses... - I never did mind the little things.” Very cool brush, never had head of this one before.

Rose: Haha I didn't know that being able to take the teeth out was a feature rather than just how it was made?? This is the kind of brush both my (white, living in Ireland) grannies have for every day. This is so good to know!

Breea G: I use the same Garnier smoothing mask as a leave in!!! I love it so much with out it my hair is so frizzy and poofy.

Compassion_for_all: Very informative and well done video. Your hair is GORGEOUS, even before you use the brush. It’s so refreshing to see a natural beauty on YouTube.

Candy Kriegel: Attempting to remove the bristle rubber the way you did can result in tearing the rubber. It's a lot easier to manipulate soapy water between the rubber and the handle, then slide it out.

Lolly: You hair is stunning! Wonderful length and beautiful curls! Denman do some amazing brushes and combs, they do a lovely 2 row comb that I use in the shower when conditioning! X

Amanda Peterson: Girl I give you sooo much credit, that hair is gorgeous! It's had taking care of hair like yours or mine (curly, wavy and straight all in different areas of my hair )

Daniela G: Your hair is so pretty! Thank you for this tutorial. (: how long did it for you to grow out your hair that long?

Adriana J: Girl bless you with that glowy skin and those prominent cheekbones.

julia marie: this was so helpful, i recently started styling my hair as though it was wavy and it’s been doing so good and i just got a denman brush but was struggling w the waving of it

FairySoda: I have such curly hair, but because its heavy they tend to get looser when my hair gets long. This brush helped so much lmao. Instead of my hair being fluffy and my curls doing whatever they want, it looks uniform

mia onufrak: the fact that your hair is still curly when it's wet is amazing to me lol. thank you for the video!

Jasmin Awany: Does anyone know if a denman brush works on wavy hair? Id like more definition but I don’t think it would make sense for my hair since if I brush it wet (like when I detangle in the shower) it’s just straight. My waves really only show up once I scrunch and it starts drying

kari D.: I love that you made this video.. Everyone talks about it but I had no idea had to use it.. def getting one so I can stop frying my hair everyday trying to pretend its straight.. I want to embrace my curly hair so bad.. and by the way you have amazing skin.. can we get a skincare video? or are you just naturally glowing all the time. lol

cozyjamie ʕっ•ᴥ•ʔっ: This was super helpful I love how you edited and filmed this!

Michelle Morales: OMG your curls are gorgeous!

lila alaoui: The first time I’ve seen someone demonstrating how Denman Brush can we use it efficiently. Thank you my hair type looks like yours, just I comb it, my curls became indefinite with big mess.

mon trésor: okay so my mom gave me a denman brush and my curls haven’t been THIS defined

Tricia G: Omg!!! So for years I've heard about this brush but no one really said how up use it or that it would make the curls look so good. I'm blown away and now I need to order one myself. You and your hair are beautiful!

Winny Surrette: I didn’t even know you can take strips out. Wow. I didn’t know I needed a video on how to use a brush but I’m dumbfounded thanks girl!

Kitty Che: Thanks for the video! I’m mixed like you and have the exact hair! I started using homemade rice water and man it made my hair super soft and has grown since! You should try it!

Lara Tiara: Your hair is my dream hair! I'm so glad you appear to love it - so many people with beautiful ringletty hair just see it as a nuisance!

Shanna Lourine: I bought one and I was like “why is everyone obsessed with it.” Cause I’m not using it properly that’s why nothing changed haha

Professional Commenter: I have NEVER seen this brush!!!! I have naturally curly hair and I am SHOOK!!!!

Sophia: We have the same hair type! I looooove this technique. thank youuuu

julia julia: I just bought a denman brush and I'm about to use it for the first time This really helps

*Brandy *: Love this I have naturally wavy hair but my daughter has extremely curly hair and she likes to have it long so it's down to her but right now and I don't know what to do about the amount of frizz she gets been watching almost every YouTube video about curly hair

Cj U: Thank you for making this videa! I had no idea that there was a particular way to use it. I'm super excited. Btw, your hair is phenomenal.

Lori Dean.: Does it make a difference as to where the bristles are positioned, as to how your curls turn out?

Genesis Ansbro: I’ve realized this brush works best for hair that actually spirals and not so much for hair that is intensely “wavy” or beach waves.

Imaan Shamis: I tried it on my hair and it came out beautifully def. recommend to others!! For sure

Eliene Santos: Esse cabelo num corte assimétrico valorizava muito os cachos!

Dora osko: Hairstylist here. Leaving conditioner in your hair is very drying so it's actually doing the opposite of what you think it's doing. The second ingredient in all or most conditioners and treatments is Alcohol! Conditioners should always be rinsed. Use only your styling products when styling.

Jayla A.: I hope you enjoyed the video, please give this video a THUMBS UP if any of it was helpful and leave a comment down below about your experience with the Denman brush! - Jayla

Ninny 81: I wish I saw this video before I washed my hair last night. I can’t wait to try that denman brush technique. Great video!!

K Ham: I liked this. Thought you did a great job explaining your technique. Beautiful hair.

The Curly Hair Network: OMG I have been using this thing wrong the whole time ! I gave it to my mom because it gave me frizz by using the wrong method

Alyssa Ramos: Some reason watching those curls get more defined is so satisfying and girl I fucking love your hair it's beautiful asf❤

shizukus wife: too much moisture when adding products could weigh down the hair and cause less root volume. if you do want more volume up there try to just move it around as it dries to help it :)

Leah whittaker: Beautiful curls !

Priscila Nosoma: Holy fluff! Where was this video before I gave mine away! Thank you so much for teaching us how to use it! ❤️

Insane vacuum Cleaner: Now I know how my 4 year old daughters hair will look like when she's older. So pretty.

Real Granola Apple Raspberry: Seeing your hair makes me wanna grow mine back out

gayathri Venkatesan: Finally i understood how to use the denman brush the right way! Thank you so much for making this video and Sharing this content

Luz 11: Hi I have curly hair and I've been looking for something like this for so long and I love the way you do it, I think my hair have the same personality as urs, lol I'm gonna try this. Thank you

lana ?!: To make the denman brush easier to put back you should put it under water then push it back in

Patti Ray: Weird! I’ve used a Denman brush for years and years because it helps me blow dry my straight hair smoother. LOL.

Vlancing Genie: Never heard of this brush before but now I need it in my life!

Jenna Miller: Oh wow! I use the La Looks sport gel too

Alexis McCormick: That technique was so helpful!

Ericka KuGil: LOVED the bloopers at the end You're awesome!

KeepinitReal: Love, love , love, your Curls!! You should try Hempz shampoo & conditioner. Perfect for all hair types. Makes colors last longer. You can buy this on Hempz website, salons, or Amazon. Its full product, no fillers, so better for your Hair, scalp, and skin. Also means you use less product. As a little goes a long way. Always Shampoo twice, condition once.

Nicole Norris: If you put the gel on before using denman brush, it may work better. Also, your hair would be amazing using the 'plop' method. The way you use the tshirt, is holding the curls flatter. Your hair is gorgeous!

Mango Conchile: wow this is amazing tbh lol i have wavy hair rather than curly but i really wish i had hair like yours!

Selena Palomares: I’ve been using Denman For At least 5 years and I didn’t know you could take rows out

Enn Zee: Great video! Can you explain why you removed a row of bristles though? Does it do something different?

Nicole R: Have you tried ‘pineappling’ your hair to sleep? That’s made a huge difference for my day 2, 3, and 4!

Susette Clearman: Loved your curly hair care video. Have you ever heard of a product called LUS? Its out if Canada. The owner has a curl pattern very simular to yours. My daughter has curly but not ringlets like yours. Check them out. We love the leave in conditioner. We just use it use what ever shampoo and conditioner. It has truly changed how frizzy her hair is.

Toastyyy: i would kill to have hair like that

Cathie Watson: Wow. That's crazy! Your hair is amazing and this is a great, simple tutorial. Going to invest in one of these brushes I think. What type of curls do you have BTW?

Paula Roberts: Girl, your curls are BOMB - before and after.

thelittlewildkat1: I wish I had hair like this! ❤

Trinity Elisabeth: This really helped and worked thank you so much

Read with Chimey: Your hair is like the most beautiful hair ever. Stay blessed:)

Eurídece Cachimbombo: I wonder if this method works in kinkier/coilier textures, cause until now I’ve only been using my denman brush for detangling

M NEWStew: Had no idea you could adjust the rows until watching your TWO YEAR OLD video!! I love the brush so much more for that!

Izzy Dandrea: You hair looks like mine if I had the self control to grow it out... It’s really beautiful❤️

MaddestHatter13: When you use the den man brush, do you apply any product in the shower or is your hair product free before using the brush?

Nelly Cortez: Yessssss I’ve had this brush for years and I always notice my curls look separated imma try this out tmr :p

Ashley Clay: Beautiful hair, I suggest watching a few African American curly girl videos, your hair is very tight curled, the pineapple method would protect curls etc..

ALEXANDRIA NEVERMIND: Found this vid by accident. I've had the Denman brush for over a year & had no clue you could adjust it! Ty❤

Ryenn: My hair is gonna be poppin' when I use my Denman again
