Hello, everyone happy VE Day. I don't know if you celebrate that, where you guys are, but here in the UK we do like to celebrate. As a rule, they're saying to you, know, decorate your house have a lovely picnic in the garden, obviously with social distance and rules still applying. So there's lots of people I've seen on Facebook today, where they've got their houses, all decorated they're having their picnics in the guard and all the neighbors are sort of coming together, but not coming together. If you know what I mean, but I think it's really nice as you've probably guessed, my little area here is actually not doing anything. It'S quite quiet, so I'm on here instead to give you some headband ideas. So I'm gon na show you the different types of headbands and I'm also going to show you a way which you can use the headbands and make them interchangeable and work with clips. So, first of all, you've obviously got the classic Alice band, which is like this horseshoe shape. You can get these little different, colors natural colours any colors to match your birds. I'Ve got these lovely rainbow ones and then you've got these ones which are actually made out of like poison off cinema called Denny's and I've. Also cinema called just nylon headbands, but they're. Basically, one size fits all, so they fit a newborn and they're super soft and stretchy, so they fit up to a doll. But I've had some customers they've bought these and used them on their newborn babies, but as they've gotten bigger, they have not never thought they're. A bit tight they'd prefer a bigger one, so this is where the fold over elastic comes in handy or, if you're familiar with it, you'll see it just called f OE, like abbreviated online, so yeah fold over elastic. This also comes in all different colors. You can get skin color skin colour is quite good if you want a natural colour to match any headband, or you can pick a colour to match your hair bow. So this is the main thing I'm going to show you today is how to make fold over elastic headband and also to make them work with clips, so they're interchangeable. So this is the headband size guide that I use. I actually got this chart from Pinterest. If you want to screenshot this now to say that for your future reference you can or just google search around this particular one is in inches. So I'm gon na go for the naught to 6 month size fold over elastic headband and they recommend the size as being 13 inches. Now, if you want to be more precise, if you've got a customer asking for these, you could get them to measure the baby's head just so you can be totally sure of what size they need, but I found using the guide that I've shown yeah that that Does work and that's absolutely fine, so I've cut this to 13 inches, taking a lighter, I'm just gon na keep see all that end gently and then hot glue gun we're just going to pop a little bit of glue warmed up more than I thought. I'M going to just glue that end together, just overlapping it by around a centimeter. You can sew these, but I've found hot glue holds these perfectly. I'Ve never had one come apart and we will cover this joy, and you won't see this so, as you can see, that's not going anywhere and then what we're going to do is when I going to cut another piece to wrap around it, so we're just gon Na mark, roughly, where I want to cut it - and this is five centimeters in length each one of these squares - is a centimeter - show you that my ruler, this was five centimeters in length. Again, I'm going to heat seal both of these ends and then, where this join is, as you can see, there's sort of a side with a shiny, finish and there's a side with a matte finish. So I like to have this on the outside. So on the underside of where this is joined on the matte side, I'm going to glue this just over where that's drawn together, so I'm going to place a little bit of hot glue on one end cover over that join. Now you don't want to glue any over this top part, because you want this piece free and then you're going to wrap that round and then glue it on the underside again. So no glue on the top side only place the glue on the underside. So you've got this little loop and then that is basically more interchangeable. Headband ready I've got another one here which I've made in this nude color this one's actually a bigger size, because that is for a one-year-old. So, as you can see this being cut bigger, that's the same sort of thing, a little loop at the top here and then you can take your bows which I've made with clips on and they can be put that down. So I can show you properly and they can be inserted into that loop like that and then worn on of a headband, and then that way you can sell sets of se. You can do a few different colored elastics with five or six bows. Is that totally up to you, but you can sort of make a mix and match set, so you can have like a tool one on there, and that makes these then versatile, because when the baby does grow older and grows a bit of hair, they can then Keep these and use them as Clips as well, because when my little girl was a baby, she she was born the blow to here. Then it all fell out and she used to wear headbands and then, when she got to about one the headbands weren't good anymore, and I started making the bows of clips on for. If I'd have thought about these earlier, I could have made her the clips from an earlier on stage and then she could have kept them to wear after but yeah you get the idea now also on finale's bands that would also work so taking an alice band. You couldn't, I wouldn't recommend doing on one of these for newborns because of these newborns. If your thing got the clip here, but then makes it sort of quite hard, I mean that's up to you. You might be comfortable with it, but I personally don't recommend them for newborns. I always say I'd prefer to make these ones for newborns. Now, if you've got an older child, you prefer an Alice band. You could also take the same color awesome. You know. Take it matching piece of fold over elastic with your Alice band, hot glue it to the underside, wrap it round quite loosely. Even you know a little bit, you don't want it too tight and then, if you use one of the, this is obviously a double prong. Clip you can get more narrower clips if you use a more narrow clip, you can then use and use this in the same way make them interchangeable as well. So yeah, it's just a little idea for you today.
