Open for direct links to my favorite products and curlfriends!

Medusa Clipping is a protective sleeping style that works great for short curly hair. I first found the method through Reallife=Curlygirl (Link below). It is the only sleeping style that has fully protected my curls at night ridding the need for a refresh in the morning. Just fluff and go!

Welcome back, if you haven't already go ahead and hit that subscribe button turn on those post notifications, so that you do not miss anything new. Let'S go ahead and jump right into Medusa clipping, so my curl friend Alison real-life curly girl I'll put her info in the description box that you could take a look at her channel. She introduced me to the concept of Medusa clipping. Medusa clipping is a protective sleeping style. Pineappley needs to be my favorite sleeping protective style. However, since cutting my hair short, it is not quite worked so, as you can see, if I were to come up in a pineapple, this bottom layer barely makes it this bottom layer barely makes it into the pineapple and what happens in the morning is I end Up with stretched out curls, I tried doing a half pineapple for a while, and this sometimes works not really huge fan. It works, but it's not the best. I finally tried out Medusa clipping and I absolutely loved it. The first time I tried it. I did not have much success because I clipped incorrectly, I clipped my hair literally to my head, and I woke up really really flat clipping it away from your scalp will give you a ton of volume and really good curls. It is the first sleeping style that I have been able to wake up in the morning and not need a refresh, so I'm gon na walk you through it. All you need for this. Are these little clips or something similar small is better and, I would say, have a bare minimum 5. I picked these up at a local dollar store to get best results. You want to make sure the clip is resting on your scalp versus pinning your hair to your scalp. Otherwise you will end up with really flat roots in the morning, so I'm just gon na start with this side. You just do it in sections and then I'm gon na clip here you see it's kinda and you can do as many sections as you want. I typically do four or five and I leave the bottom hairs out. You want to make sure that you're clipping hairs that are in the same section otherwise like if I pull this strand over this way with a section. This is going to end up straightened so make sure you're better off using more Clips clipping less hair in them. Then less clips more hair that makes sense and you can use the palm of your hand to feel where your head will be resting on your pillow and then just avoid clipping in that section, okay and then with these. So let's just take a lot. So now, with these strands, I'm going to very loosely very, very loosely clip the top, and this will just keep everything heading this direction and, as you see, I'm leaving the bottom layer out, I can't clip them in an area that they won't get stretched out. So they're better off staying down and you're good, that's it! You just make sure that you're sleeping on a satin, pillowcase good night, good, nacht I'll check in in the morning good morning, just checking in want to show you how this fared through the night and take it down. So here's a look round, fared pretty. Well, everything stayed in place this flopped back a little bit throughout the night, but not too bad. Okay, Oh start there, so how's it first comes down. Now. The trick is almost time if you just let your hair set it'll relax itself, but if you're in a hurry, you can pull up. Listen everything back up. I literally don't need a refresh. That'S a first, since my hair has been short. So there you have it Medusa clipping success. This is currently my go-to protective sleeping style. I do also sleep on a satin pillowcase, so it was very, very important. You should be doing that, regardless of what you're doing, but if you have short hair, especially, I really recommend trying this method out and, as you can see, I think you'll wake up with pretty decent results. So alright, thank you so much for coming back to my channel, don't forget to go hit that subscribe button and then click that bell, while you're over there too. Just so, you don't miss anything, see y'all later

Silver Hiker: Oh thank you. My hairs are too short to pineapple and I've been trying to figure out how to sleep and not have to wash my hair every single freaking day. Great channel. Keep up the amazing work. I appreciate you so much.

J Dyer: I know this is an older video, but I just saw it yesterday and tried the medusa trick last night. It's amazing. I have longish hair, but I have trouble keeping it up in a pineapple at night. My curls were almost completely undisturbed last night after I clipped them up as you showed in this video. If it continues it'll be life-changing for me. Also, I've been using protein lately after watching your protein video and my curls are looking better and better.

NoGrinchHere: I recently started Medusa clipping and I LOVE it! I also pin curl the back bottom layer (3-4 curls) instead of leaving it loose. This way I don't have stretched out hair hanging out the back the next morning!

Ellie R: Ok, this video has completely changed my curly hair!!! The pineapple method has NEVER worked for me, and I literally chopped my hair to a pixie about a year ago because I was tired of waking up with a crazy mess every morning. Now that my hair is growing out (it’s at my chin), my curls can actually last to day 2 and 3. THANK YOU!!

Crysta Oppel: I actually have pretty long hair and I still prefer this technique. With the pineapple, I get a headache since my hair is so heavy. I also find that this preserves the top layer of curls better.

Christina Colongne: I tried this and it works SOOOO well!! My hair is just a wee bit longer than yours. I can use a bobble to do a loose pineapple and use clips similar yet much smaller to gently clip my curls forward. My refreshing has never been easier. ❤️ Thank you!!

Kara Dodson: I'm always trying out different bedtime routines... I have hair this length and I've tried a hair sock, pineapple and the half and half pineapple... I'll be doing this one tonight!!!! Love your videos and your beautiful energy

ikcytom: Girl! You’re killing it on views! I’m so happy your channel is becoming successful! You deserve it! ‍♀️

Codie Bell: Yes!! I used to have long rapunzel hair but I cut it all off and only now have discovered CG - thanks for your tips and vids for short curlies!

Sage Losh: I’m definitely going to try this tonight. My hair always looks so crazy in the morning and I never know how to preserve my curls from night to morning!

Kaitlin Lawrence: I have been trying Medusa clipping the last two weeks and I'm loving it! My new favorite way to sleep! My hair is a bit shorter than yours and I bobby pin the bottom layer pieces very lightly.

Kara Dodson: Okay, so I tried this and WOW!!! I can't believe how comfortable it was to sleep in and how in tact my curls were in the morning. It was a fluff and go kind of day - yay!!!

girlboss: I just tried this for the first time and it worked so well I’m so impresssed!!! Thanks so much for uploading this it was so helpful.

Caitlin StoneLand: Thank you, oh, thank you! I've been regretting the chop every day for 4 years and for the first time it's felt manageable.

Evie E: Any advice on a nighttime routine if you're a side sleeper? I tried this but the discomfort made it impossible to sleep.

LuckyLifeguard: hi thanks for making this! with this technique, pineapple-ing or any method where you're pulling hair sorta "up" is there any worry of causing damage? for example i know keeping hair in a tight ponytail for longer periods of time starts to weaken where hair grows (think the hairline on the front) but i assume these techniques are okay since the hair isnt taut like a ponytail?

RealHousewifeRachel: Ooooo I'm going to have to try this! I currently do a half-pineapple and sleep in a buff and it works well, but I think this would work better. I have to sleep in a buff because I HATE the feeling of satin pillowcases, and much prefer my fleece pillowcase in the Winter. Thank you so much!

Michael Fox: OMG! Best morning hair ever.  All I did was shake my head and go.  AMAZING! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Mandy Beck: Amazing! I just chopped off most of my ruined bleached hair and this should help! Your hair is beautiful! I'm on my way to starting a "curly hair journey" of sorts. I can't wait to cut the rest of my hair. I like to keep it a certain length in the front of my face, so I just cut it to a pixie Bob kind of cut. My hair is all natural in the back and very short and shoulder length in the front lol! I know it's bad for your hair but I've been straightening it because my bleached hair won't hold curl at all anymore! Anyway, thanks for the video, sorry this is way long haha!

Kelly Scott: I’m growing out a curly pixie and have all different lengths and curl textures. Girl it’s a struggle. looking forward to using this once my hairs a bit longer!!

Caleaha Se'von: My daughter loves your videos! She is 4 yrs old, has ringlets since birth but we didn't know how to help them. She has power watched your videos and gives me the links to watch afterwards. And it started with me finding 1 video and giving it to her.

Priscila Nosoma: I'm definitely trying this. My hair is same length but with a looser curl and second day hair is just as good as fifth day so I just wrap a scarf in my head every day until wash day. Hope this works!

Tbaggz: OH MY GODTHANK YOU SO MUCH. THIS WORKS SO WELL FOR MY SHORT CURLY HAIR! I'm yelling bc I'm excited.

Shal Perk: Makes so much sense!!! I love this thank you so much!

Kathleen Durkin: Just cut my hair short again on a whim, this is a lifesaver!

Cambria Harris: This is funny! It's what I asked for lol. But we still need a good refresh video like your recent one ❤️❤️

Gone Sale Racking: your curl pattern looks so much like mine but my hair is a few inches longer. Your length is cute!

Jill Bencic: You're seriously the cutest! I'm definitely going to try this!!

AnnaMacM: My hairs a similar length to yours. so that is for this FANTASTIC TIP! :-) That has made my day... can’t wait to go to bed tonight and try this.

Iridescent Aurora: Personally, I don’t have clips that are quite *that* small. Could this technique work with bigger sections in bigger clips? (the smallest ones I have are about the same size as an apricot, maybe a bit bigger)

nicolify: i sleep on my back because of acne and this just flattens out all of the curls at the back of my head

Alyson Lupo: real life+curly girl: Hiiiiii friend! That came out so well - your hair looked exactly the same as the day before! Ahhhhmazing.

Amber Cobern: Definitely going to try this! IG: amber_cobern

Susanne LaCorte: Hi . Interesting technique. I have to try that out. I have hair your length and do the pineapple and generally rewash it in the morning bc I rarely like the way it looks. I just don’t like my curls on second, third day wear :( Do you get a Deva Haircut??

Angela Vega: Can’t wait to try this!!! Thanks for sharing.

Susanne LaCorte: So, I tried the Medusa clipping last night and I looked like I stuck my finger in a socket. My curls are not as tight as yours. I barely had any curls after doing this. I will try it again tomorrow night. I bought 12 clips

houtsmarsbar: Love Medusa clipping

Donna Merrell: Going to try this, great video. You also have amazing eyebrows!

Katrina Smith: Just discovered your channel and am loving it! This is random but I love your shower curtain!!! Where did you get it?

Shawna Orlando: Thanks Jannelle - I’ll be trying this out!

Natalia Carrion: I always have to refresh everyday because my hair gets too freezy or my curls stretch out if i put it up .. i will have to try this out

Diana Aqra: Your hair is just like mine, thanks!

kat gobble: How do you sleep with the lower part which isn’t clipped? push it off the pillow or lay directly on it?

Velvet Figueroa: Literally got back out of bed to try this

FitKat Style: Sweet! Glad it worked for you too!

Meredith Seeley: @mseeley31 I love this video! I love Medusa clipping!!

Jessy Robinson: Do we think this would work with the silver two pronged clips I use to set my roots?

Emily Rosenzweig: Hi there! I'm confused what you mean by "clipping it away from your scalp?" And "resting on your scalp?" If it isn't clipped to your scalp I don't understand how it is staying up at all?

Kim van Voorst: I have short hair now, since yesterday. And my back pieces won’t fit either in my pineapple. But I’m just so scared they get flattened when I let them hang and I sleep on them

Shruthi Gurumoorthy: Hey, there ! So, yeah i have been following your videos for sometime now. So, i have got like two three basic questions which you didn't answer in this or any other video. So, firstly how to apply oil on the curly hair. I have similar hairs like you. Maybe not as soft as yours, cuz i have started to follow the curly hair routine very lately. Like, if we oil without combing the hair, we get stuck in between the hair strands as those are not detangled. And if we Comb with a wide tooth Comb it brush it then it becomes extra dry and then we oil the hair. And, I have seen and felt it that it leads to a lot of breakage and HAIR FALL. So, it would be great if you could do a video on this oiling method or else reply here, it would be of really great help. And, my second doubt is i am actually confused as to what product should i start with. Like lately i found some brands like fix my curls, curl up, wow skin science, and ash. ba botanics..... and these are costly yes. So, if you could suggest as a Beginniner which product to go for, it would be highly appreciated. I am looking for a product which works on the dry and frizzy hair and show the results as i am just gonna start, so it should actually moisturize the curls really well. Please, reply, looking forward to hear from you. :)

melana-milene: So far pineapple and sleeping in a plop haven't worked for me at all, I have a feeling this might ;)

Charity Bettis: Can't wait to try this! @miss.charityb

Decosa Studio: So need to try this! @CurlyGirl_Katie

Laura_Leïla Aman: I do almost the same but I pinaple first my hair and than I put the clip on the top it works great!! :D (sorry for my english it's not that good)

Aleksandra Proszynska: Omg this volume after night

saxyroxy736: I just cut like 2ft off my hair..lol. Pineapple is a no go now. Maybe I'll give this a go.

Bonnie Hodgson: How do you sleep with the ones at the back? I tried but they dig into my head when I am laying down ‍♀️

LaLa Smith: Thanks for the tip

Rachelle kadrmas: What do you mean by "cliping away from your scalp" and not pinning hair to the scalp? I don't understand the difference.

Shaddow Golden: Sadly this won’t work for my Afro texture 3c curls. If i made that many parts to clip I’d end up with a head full of fix instead of curls. I guess daily washing continues for me.

fairylord: Sis you goddess omg thank you

rhi: thanks. just got a haircut (the same length as yours in this vid) so i really can't do the pineapple either.

Leyla Rustamova: what if my hair get's "stuck" in the shape that i clipped it in?

Deb McGowan: Sweet ty for tips

Theresa S: Not a fan of the pineapple because I end up with flat hair on top where the hair sets on top all night

Plunderstückchen: beautiful hair and women :)

dianicrubia: You just saved me lol

AJ HULSEY: Is that uncomfortable to sleep on?

Nicole Kehew: Your eyes are so blue

Fitz Beauty: Plz help how do You protect your hair In the shower between wash days? Like I shower every day but don’t wash every day so just shower cap? Or do u condition your hair every day? Halp?! I’m New to CG have very very short pixie cut with teeny lil 2A-2B waves. Haven’t found a video on this

Kristen Taylor: curlfriend.. very cute

Celestial Dreams: You have the most gorgeous eyes!!!!

Oh Well: so this is basically the pineapple, except with clips.

Betty Glitter47: Bummer, i could never sleep with clips in...o well

Irene V.: With long hair seems no good

Venus: That looks uncomfortable

Elizabeth Forsyth: @gloriouswifey87

ishia: whats ur hair type
