Hi everyone. So in today's video I wanted to talk about the importance of permanent color, whether you're, using that color as just base color for your hair or, if you have all over color or, if you're, just using it to kind of enhance the highlights or the ombre or The balayage that you have or if it's just simply for a great coverage, but I feel like I've, never done a video just dedicated all about permanent color before that permanent line. I'M gon na be talking about red khun's cover fusion, of course, but before I do get into that, I want to announce that I am doing one of my absolute favorite giveaways. I'Ve been wanting to do one of these, probably since I've started my youtube channel and it just never felt like the right time. And finally, a couple weeks ago, I decided Mother's Day is the perfect time for this giveaway. So the giveaway that I want to do for you guys is for one of you to win a free, mommy makeover with me. So that means you come to me at the salon and I basically make your hair dreams come true. Like I said, I've always wanted to do this and, as you guys know, I am a redken ambassador and I came to redkin with this idea of me doing this and they said how can we support you? So their suggestion was, I take care of one mom and basically give them a hair makeover, but they said why not extend the opportunity to ten other lucky winners. So, for the other ten, you will receive a goodie bag from Redken, which they will send out to you directly. So in the spirit of Mother's Day this weekend figured. This is the perfect time to announce. So if your mom or you know an amazing mom that you would like to enter for this giveaway, please stay tuned till the end. Alright, so now we're getting into the permanent hair color info. One of the reasons why I wanted to talk about permanent color is often times. I will have clients come in and either not understand why their previous hairdresser put on a base color or whether they still need it, and I feel sometimes you might be using it for the wrong reasons. So that's why I figure it was just time to kind of talk about it. It'S really simple, but I do think it is important for non hairdressers to understand the difference and why it's so amazing all right. So there are four main reasons to use a permanent hair color. The first one is the obvious reason to cover gray you're, not gon na get good great coverage from a color. That is not permanent. The next one is to slightly lighten your face, so say either. You have kind of like a balayage and your hair is really dark at the base, and you want just a little bit lighter say on the brown that you have at your roots. Then a permanent color is great to lift you just a tad bit. Maybe like one to one and a half levels, the next one is, if you want to darken your hair color, so say your natural blonde and you do get your ends kind of balayage. But you want a little bit more dimension. Doing a permanent color in a darker shade is going to insure a ton of dimension in your hair without the possibility of that fading. And the next reason is you simply just want a change of color to either your base color or to all of your hair, meaning an all-over color, so semi or demi-permanent colors are a great option when you just want to add some dimension, but there's no Gray's In sight, so you're not really trying to cover anything. You are just trying to bring the level down a bit. You could also use toners or even toners as a base color, if you're just wanting to darken up a little bit now. The issue with doing that is eventually that color is going to fade, whereas with the permanent color it is, as stated permanent. So, as you guys know in the salon, I do use red khun's cover fusion and, although I have worked with other brands that I thought were ok or you know good gray coverage, but one of my favorite things about the cover fusion line is the intensity of Cool tones that you still can achieve, and I think that's something that's really difficult to find and I will show you a photo here of the same level of color at this one being the Redken color and how well it covers gray, but still how cool and Nats and yet still a deep color, whereas my experience sometimes with other color Browns. I couldn't get more of this result, so all colors are definitely not created the same, and so one of the other reasons why cover fusion is my go-to is that it still gives the hair a very dimensional color, and that dimension is what creates a really rich Beautiful color, I just got goosebumps from saying that it's been a tout your hairdresser, so covered fusion is super easy to use its equal parts, meaning if you're doing one ounce of color, you are doing one ounce of developer. So if my formula is for great coverage, I like to mix that with 20 volume, those hairdressers will know that 20 volume is basically the staple or go-to. If you're wanting to cover gray, because you need to be able to kind of open up the hair a bit and then deposit the color, because, let's face it gray, is one of the most stubborn hair colors to color and to cover. And, of course, one of the main reasons I love using this line is for its amazing range of levels and tones alright. So I hope that gave you a little bit more understanding on this ever so used color line and kind of side of colors, but I feel lately everyone is talking about lightening and blondie, which of course, is my biggest passion as well. But in order for me to give someone a beautiful, Molly, aaggghhhh or a beautiful blond result often times, I do need the help of a permanent color to sometimes just make that blonde pop or again, like I said if someone has gray roots, and you obviously want Beautiful balayage, but you also want those roots covered alright, so now on how to enter the giveaway, you can enter yourself if you're a mom, you would love a new hair, color new haircut, your style. You can nominate yourself or you can nominate a friend or any amazing mom that you know all you have to do is be subscribed to my channel on here, just by clicking that red button, if you haven't yet leave me a quick line in the comment section On why you want to enter or why you want to nominate this person to enter the giveaway, as well as follow me on Instagram at Silvia, X, Reis, and also leave a quick line on my latest photo on. Why you would like this makeover I'll, be picking a winner on May 25th and we will notify you the last week of May and, like I said, I will be picking one winner to get the hair makeover with me and redkin will be picking ten of you To send you an amazing Redken goodie bag with a ton of my favorites, so I hope you guys are excited about this giveaway. Definitely one of the most exciting giveaways, because I will get to meet one of you guys that I would probably not otherwise meet and the appointment will take place in San Francisco, where my salon studio is located. You do either have to be close to the San Francisco area or be able to fly to come to your appointment, alright guys. So thank you so much for watching. I hope you've enjoyed this video and don't forget to enter, and I hope all mothers have the most amazing day tomorrow and I hope, your loved ones that are spoiling you alright I'll see you guys in the next one bye

I’m from North Dakota willing to travel and have a nice well needed vacation with my husband! Plus I turn 30 in june. I don’t have Instagram, so unfortunately I can’t follow you there.☹️ Happy mother’s day all!

Andreia H.: Hi Sylvia, I started going blonde a few years ago due to my grey and thinning hair. I initially went to a hairdresser and then had a senior moment wanting to dye my hair black again. I really damaged my hair stripping it back to blonde but it’s growing back out and was greatly saved by redken extreme and redken masques. I was too embarrassed to face my hairdresser and found a link to your YouTube channel while googling “extremely fried hair.” I’ve learned the greatest tips from you and have done several of your looks successfully! You are truly a hair guru. I especially love the video you made on root touch up with toning overlay. I can’t fly to San Francisco atm but I wanted to thank you for helping this mom regain her confidence. Happy Mother’s Day to all of the moms out there

Morgan D: How amazing! I started watching your vidoes when you just started your channel. I remember thinking how much great advice you had and I couldn't believe you didn't have more views. So glad to see you've grown your channel so much and spread your knowledge to so many! I'd love to win a salon trip! After two babies and two long deployments the past few years I really put myself on the backburner for a little while. I'd love to revamp my look with some blonde and maybe extensions. Thank you for the opportunity.

Marisa Milini: I’ve been following you for years and love your work and all your tips!

I referred my cousin to you (she is now one of your regular clients) and she is so happy with your work and her hair looks amazing. I'm in desperate need of a new hair look and I'd love the opportunity for you to give it a go. So, of course, I'd be crazy not to nominate myself!! : )

arod1891: Hi sending you love from Las Vegas !!! Lynn Rose: Hi Sylvia,I love your videos. I always learn something ever time I watch your videos. I'm a mother of two daughters and I would like to nominate myself. Since they were little girls, I was always conscious to always listen to them and be there when they needed me. They adults now and though they are self sufficient, our closeness has not wavered. Cheryl Metro: Hey Silvia I would love this makeover giveaway because every time I watch your channel I feel I can truly transform my hair. You are so inspiring. If I could get a makeover from you I would find a way to get to you from Montana ....or if nothing else I would be so happy to get a goodie bag. Thank you for all you do!!

Stephanie Diaz: I love that u r a professional hairstylist and u share ur tips with everyone for free that's amazing... I am a mother and cant afford the prices of a salon so I dye my hair myself... I would appreciate a hair makeover so much... I love u and ur advice u give really helps... Stephanie

Kristen Elliott: Stumbled across your channel and I love your videos!!! I would give my mom the makeover! She’s so amazing and deserves so much more Than I can give!!!

Lori Leveto: I love your videos, I’ve been watching you since day 1. I am also a hairstylist mom and would love a makeover and and talk hair! ‍♀️❤️

Renee CA: What a great video and giveaway!! I live close enough, and would love to have you do my hair, which is a hot mess! I'm naturally a dark blonde with copper, and now grey-ugh! I've tried to cover it on my own, and now it's just too warm. I don't want ash, that just washes me out, but neutral is great with my skin tone! I want to with all the mom's out there a Blessed and Happy Mother's Day!!

Lol Ve: Hi Elle, your vids are informative, I really like them. I hope you do not mind me saying that you are a beautiful woman and I love your natural beauty. Please stay away of fillers in lips etc. you do not need them, it does not do you justice. You are blessed with a natural beauty. Keep making great vids.

Michael Espinosa: I don’t usually nominate myself for anything, but when I saw your YT video I was ecstatic for the possible opportunity, and your generosity. I battle multiple autoimmune disorders, and had to retire early. That has led to my futile attempts at doing my own hair. I grew up in the Central Valley, and my hubby grew up in SFO. We drive in to the city several times a year to ‘get away’ for the day. I turned 50 in December, and my youngest is graduating high school in a few weeks. Being a mom will never end, but I think it’s time to start doing some things for me, too, as being disabled can be very isolating. I am determined to make the next 50 as joyful as possible.

Tanya M: Hello beautiful, I am a stage 4 breast cancer survivor,I went through 2 difficult yrs of chemo, radiation and 7 operations. My marriage is still hanging on & now Im getting ready to be a grandma. Life is amazing & I'm certainly blessed to be here living it, I have watched your videos during my treatments & dreamed of having you do my hair ( now that its back) Please consider this grandma <3

JustA Fan: I used your video to cut my own hair, it turned out great. Thank you

Jenny Sandoval: Color is beautiful, hair is soft, thick and shiny. Blends beautifully, and the strength of these are high quality

tabatha Fehrmann: Love when you add dimension to your clients. Can you please do a video like this on semi & Demi permanent hair color and the difference between the two .

Daisy Hernandez: Hi. I am mom of two boys and I am in need of getting my hair done. I love how ashy you can get someone. I have such a hard time finding someone who can do that to my hair.

Carrie Spine: I’ve always loved your videos! You’re amazing!

dms_25: Ohh WOW... what a big coincidence... I’ve been analyzing so long and confidently to go back to my natural hair color with some face frame, root shadow and toning to my ends since it’s brassy from the balayage blonde I wanted to achieve. Keeping up with blonde is costing to much... I just want something low maintenance where I can just go back every 6 to a year refresh. You have the answer to my question but hoping it’s achievable by my colorist is unpredictable. Thanks for sharing! Very informational!

Elaine Viray Borras: I’m a momma and would really love a new look!

Julie R: First, I want to thank you for all your great videos of tips and information! I've been subscribed for a while now and I love your videos! As for the giveaway... I would've nominated my mom, but she passed away a couple of years ago. She had great style. :-) So, I'm actually gouging to nominate myself. I'm a mother of one boy, who happens to be an adult now. We are great friends. He's a great kid! I'm sure there are tons of moms out there who are more deserving for whatever reason, but... I figure what the hey. I have had the same hair style for 25 years. My hair is very straight, very fine and kinda thin. I currently wear it rather long with bangs across my forehead at eyebrow length. I haven't been able to really find a style that makes me feel sensational. To have a makeover from you would be a dream! Maybe you could give me a look that would put a skip in my step. Whether I win the makeover or not, I want to say thank you for the opportunity and please keep those videos on here coming! You're sensational!!! Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there!!!

Renee Ochoa: Love your videos!! Your tips are soooo helpful!

Ramona Sobrino: You are always so informative, It has help me so much when I am confused about hair color. Keep up the great work!

Julie Ellis: Hi there I am a mom! I live in Oakland and can make it over to SFO fairly quickly. I recently lost a son so this Mother’s Day was particularly hard for me. I’ve never really gone to a salon professionally to have my hair done and been following you for quite some time so this would be a dream come true!!!!! OK I commented on your Instagram and followed you there as well I’m really keeping my fingers crossed!

Ashley Baker: This is an awesome give a way! I’d love to enter this makeover because as a mom I don’t make time to do my hair and don’t like to spend money on myself. It would be great to be able to spoil myself and feel beautiful for the day!

Kim M: I literally would give away a limb to have you do my hair.. I have been trying to be blonde for years, & I refuse to give up! .. even when my last stylist said some people just cant be blonde, my response was for her to go home and watch YOU for some pointers!!!! Thank you for this opportunity to be selfish and nominate myself!!!! I live in NJ & I promise it won't stop me from getting to you!! PLEASE pick me! My hair needs YOU! ⏳✈

Pixievette: Hi Ms. Silvia what a wonderful gesture. I appreciate your informative vids & can truly see how beautiful you are not only outside you're a beautiful soul may God continue to bless you for being you. I wish everyone luck because I'm sure everyone deserves to win but Silvia can only pick one. I nominate myself. My hair has never been the blond I want. Countless of hair salon & in home box color mishaps. My hair is beyond damaged & I would love to try the redkin line. Taking care of everyone else but can't really do much for me, but it's ok because I love life & I'm thankful for everything especially for my two sons & one daughter they are my everything & my greatist accomplishments. Happy mother's day to all you gals. Much luck to all of you.

debbie wood: HI Sylvia, I have to nominate my beautiful friend in Santa Cruz, She was a single mom. She is an artist, substance abuse counselor and takes care of her own elderly mother. Amarilis feliciano: My favorite color specialist thank you so much for given us your knowledge !

Miri Desi: I’ve been wanting an appointment sooo badly. Good luck everyone!

Olivia King: Hair is something that we take pride in. And when it’s just not doing what you want it to, it can take a hit on your self-confidence and make you feel low. We’ve all been there. But hair extensions are giving people that chance to gain back their confidence and simply feel fabulous about how they look. So whether you’re ready to add some volume and length to your locks, or just want to switch up your style, give hair extensions a try. I promise you won’t regret it! Personally my favorite brand is ZALA and i refuse to shop anywhere else, their customer serivice is something else and i have never been dissapointed. Hope this helps some ladies out there!

Kendra Adkins: Such a kind giveaway. I have always done my hair myself and have never really had the funds to spend on going and having my hair done. It's hard to take care of your self when you have little ones. I was recently put in the hospital for 20 days for pneumonia and had alot of infection in my body. I was septic. In turn I had my hair up the hole time I was in the hospital and got put on alot of very strong harsh medicine. It made my hair fall out. The medication and bc of all the infection in my body it just killed my hair and it was falling out and where my hair was so brital when I had my hair up the hole time I was hospitalized when I took my hair down it had basically cut a straight line in the first layer of my hair. My hair was almost to the top of my pants. I was devastated! I took so much pride in my hair. I had gotten really good at styling and coloring my hair all these amazing colors and had let it grow all this time and then this happened. I'm now on thyroid medication which also makes your hair fall out very badly. I have been trying to get things here and there to help the growth and condition of my hair but haven't really had any results. Although I would love to win and come into your salon and have your magic done to my hair i dont live close enough. But maybe i can win one of the goody bags and start a healthy hair journey. I have since had my long hair all cut off to my shoulders bc of the big peices that had broke but am still struggling with it falling out. I know that there are many women out there who have the same problems or even worse than mine. Which is why I think this offer is so touching and kind for a mother out there who truly needs it. Sara T: I love this. I would like to nominate myself for your make over. I am the mother of 3 boys 4,5 and 7. We moved from NorCal 2 1/2years ago to A different state. When I left NorCal my hair was to the middle of my back. 2 1/2 years later and 3 hairdressers later my hair is now layered from bad bleaching balayage. The longest length is just below my shoulders the shortest length is just above my ears. I have to constantly wear my hair up because I’m so embarrassed of what it looks like. I’m not sure what to do anymore.
