Hey guys Shelley here so in my last video I promised to do a video on how I interlock my hair, so I maintain my locks to it. I either request, or I interlock I interlock, mostly because I prefer to not be reduced in my hair. A lot and also in the summertime or if I'm going to the Caribbean, then I tend to interlock because it doesn't unravel easily. So you know getting wet it's not a problem versus when you palm rolled or retwist. So that's basically what a why I interlock my hair. So let's go into what I use. I use a rat tail comb to make nice parts, but let's nice and as I can get them - and I like this one, because it's really pointy at the end and I'll put a link to where about this. Everything I advise on Amazon anyway, but I'll put a link to to to wear right. I got it from locking tool. You can either use a lot choke. If you already have this, and I think this is what most people use. I actually prefer to use this locking needle, and I got this on Amazon for $ 19 and I'll put a link in the description box to where you can get this. I also have actual one. I need to go find it, but I have an extra one that I haven't. I have not used. I might do a giveaway, so so somebody can can win this, but this is my my holy grail right here and then to wet my hair. I have this mixture of rose water and different oils mixed together. You can use your regular spritz, your regular, liquid, leavings or whatever, and to seal everything in I use this dr. locks in Miami lock and spray, hopefully that yeah. This is really really really good. Any few, if you do primarily nor retwisting this, this actually holds him here really well for a really long time, so that this is what I use to maintain my hair okay. So one thing to remember - and it's really important - is to make sure that you're not making holes in your locs and that's that's. The big misconception is that interlocking is bad for your locs, because it's going to have holes, you will only have holes if you do not do it correctly, so I'm going to show I'm going to show you how to correctly interlock your hair, the thing that causes Holes in your lock is to go through the same hole twice, because you want to make sure that you weave in kind of that's basically what you're doing you're making knots in a weave pattern. So, let's get into the nitty-gritty as to exactly how to do this. Okay, okay, so I left out these three Lots to show you how to do it. Okay, so let's put these two away - and I make my parts as best as I can, but I'm not I'm not a big fan of you know, didn't the neat and tidy flock. So that's okay, so my my new girls sometimes tend to not go into the lock. So the first thing I do is I make sure that I'm not interlocking on drive here. Okay, so I use my spritz bottle right and I basically wet my roots. Okay - and you see like the parts, is really there's really not that nice at the fine. So you can so you can take your rat tail comb and just make it a little bit neater. If that's important to you that, if some people will just use your hands, I do that too sometimes, but sometimes in the front. I kind of want it to be a little bit neater, nothing, crazy, okay! So back to my little needle here that I love so much so you basically take the lock right. You push it to the hole like that, and the good thing about this needle is that when you put your lock in there, you push it all the way to the end to where you get to where it gets really small and that will hold the whole. The lock in place see, I can't move it so that it's easier to work with, so it wants to pull up. Hope you see that okay, so this is how much in your girth I have - and I always interlock mine here when I have this much new girls, because you don't want to cause any tension to your root. So if you don't have enough new girl, you should not be interlocking. If you look here, I have these, you know just translating new girl. I just wrap it around the base at the base, but the, but where the where the new girl starts up here right. Okay, so the technique, the technique that I use is to go four ways right, so you and remember you never go into you never go into the same hole twice. Okay, so let's pay attention. Okay, so I go from the front to the back, see that so I go from the front to the back and you really use that you're sewing really and you pull it through. Okay and that's what and that's one way. Okay, then, then, then the the second rotation is to go from under, and I hope you can see that go from under up. Okay. So so remember we went from front to back no going from the bottom to the top okay. So now I'm going to go from the other side to the front and pull it through all right and then and then I go from the front, I'm a top. I should say down and go ahead from the top down what it does it makes it line nicely and flat. Hopefully you can see that, but because I had so much new growth, I can still put my finger under it, so I want to go a little bit tighter, so this might not be enough to to do another for right up down left right, so I can Go two ways I can go front and then down so let's so, let's see how much I can get this oil. So let's go again so front and go across like that. Okay and then I'm gon na go down because I don't think I have enough new girls to actually do it four times and I don't like it to be to be really really tight. So I'd like to leave a little bit of up here, I mean I've. You know space on the underneath cuz, I don't know I don't have I mean my scalp is really really tender, so I don't like to be tender headache. So let's do another one. So I take this. Take the lows here and wrap it around itself. Right then get my needle push it through and then pull it all the way over, so that it's tight, she's holding on till it's being held on by this, but a little a little smaller, holding a needle okay. So we gon na go from the front to the back right and then we're gon na go under go up, okay and then we're gon na go from the other side. So the basically doing the opposite of what we just did: okay and then we go down. So I'm gon na go again front. I'M gon na make sure that's focused front to back okay and I don't have enough new girl to do a whole forward. Four-Way rotation. Someone is doing two so cross and then down. If you look at my scalp, that's what the interlocking look like now as it relate to frizz, there's a way that I try to correct that and let me show you real quickly, so we interlock from here to here right. But if you see we have all these fringe here, so what I do is I wrap it around itself. So let me show you so I take the lock that mean I take the loose here and I simply wrap it around the lock itself, and I and I do this all the way to the end. If I have loose hair all the way to the end, sometimes if it's not a lot like here, it's not really that much. So I just hold it taut right here and just spinning around my finger and then when I get to here it seems to be a lot again. So I do the same thing that I did before. I take the here and wrap it around good luck and then I and then I wrapped around my finger and you see now there's no frizz compared to the one next to it. And if you can see that so this one no frizz and this one still have a little bit and if it's not a lot, you don't have to wrap. You don't have to do the twisting motion around it. You can just simply hold it taut and wrap it around good luck now to maintain that retwisting that what you're saying I use the Amanda, locking spray and - and I just spray it on top of it. This is the best way for me to maintain my lock, but anyway, this is what I am. This is what I do to maintain my hair by anyway. Enough of me talking, so that's that's what I do to lock my let me know what do you? What do you guys do to maintain your Twitter, your your locs, do you request or do you interlock and if you do interlock, do you do the four-way like I did or do you have another method we're all here to to learn from each other? So so, please comment below thumbs up this video if you liked it and if you'd like to see more videos and and subscribe - and I see you guys in my next video thank you.

AllIsMind: This is the best video on interlocking! Thank you so much for posting. I literally just did my hair by myself for the first time (since being loc'd) because of you. It's so much easier then I thought it would be.

Marlisa J.: I palmroll my locs and have never really considered interlocking because it always looked confusing, but you did a really great job of breaking the process down and making it look so effortless.

Val K: I just interlocked my daughter's hair for the first time ever!!! I was super nervous but she has disabilities so trying taking her to my loctician wasn't a good fit. It took me 3 days, I'd work maybe 30-45 minutes at a time and give her nice long breaks. I searched and searched YouTube for tutorials and yours was by far the best. THANK YOU!!❤️

Zi Burr: I JUST REALLY WANT TO SAY THANK YOU FOR BEING SO THOROUGHLY DETAILIC ABOUT YOUR INTERLOCKING PROCESS. NO ONE HAS EVER STRESSED OR SAID “never go into the same hole Twice” I was wondering why my two locks I tried this with were growing like they were but I was putting the lock in the SAME exact hole. Thanks so much. You’re Amazing!

Tiffani Jade: I was always taught not to let everybody do your hair and I have always loved doing my own hair! Been thinking about locking and came across your video! Very informative, loved the camera angles and product suggestions! Thank you

Ruth Oglesby: Best demonstration video out, no crazy music in the back ground, no un funny comedy skits. Perfect, thank you!!

Carôle Ceres: I need to sincerely thank you! 2 years ago you made this video, not knowing that a Covid-19 pandemic was on the horizon and that many many thousands of us will be in lockdown with our hair in Locs! Today my friend, sister and I are happier and many £s better off because of YOU! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! God bless you!

Chx: This video is A-class. I don't interlock but this was an exceptional tutorial and demonstration. Unparalleled. Merci beaucoup, ma'am.

Real Granola Apple Raspberry: I love interlocking! I interlock my own hair, but I wanted to make sure I get it just right because my sister also started her loc journey. She likes to wash her scalp frequently because of dandruff and just personal preference, and she’s a very low-maintenance kind of person so I knew interlocking would be the way to go for her :)

SpoiledCurlyGurl: Thank you so much. I started interlocking my son's hair last night. He had had locs for over a year and I was so tired of the retwist and it wouldn't stay very long before unraveling. This works so much better

liza: This was an extremely informative tutorial, thank you so much for sharing (sidenote: I really enjoyed the thorough information and explanation. You're so kind to share your knowledge.)

Nyakwezi Katuliiba: Oh Em Gee, what a great video! I didn't even know this method existed. I've been hand rolling/ twisting my dreads for over 5 years and was getting frustrated with how quickly the front would unravel (being the most exposed). The people that have crocheted my hair always do it too tight but this looks perfect! Can't wait to try this out :) :) :) Also, wonderful video quality and great info - thank you!

COAC: Thank you for this video. Started with palm rolls, but I switched to interlocking today. I already had the tool, but I didn't know what it was for. Not only was I able to do my hair, but I was able to get my locs to stay straight instead of curl up. Awesome tutorial!

Courtney Nicole: Oh my goodness. Thank you so much for this. My son and me have decided to start our loc journey together and I have been trying my best but THIS is going to make it so much easier.

Z: Now THIS is what I needed! Thank you so much for your video and the links <3 I got worried about doing my locs wrong and other videos people were giving directions like I'm supposed to be looking at a compass lol it doesn't seem as hard anymore :)

Tina O.: I am so happy I came across your video! You have a true talent for teaching in simple terms. I am only 2 weeks locd, but the front of my hair is already puffy. I honestly don't mind frizz, I just don't want to be bothered with retwisting so often, just for it to unravel in a few days. Thank you!

ANOINTED QUEEN: Wow very detailed, just exactly what I have been looking for. You literally saved my "starter loc journey".Thanks so much You got a NEW SUBBIE

9ja Bottom Pot: Thanks a lot, have spent lot of cash on interlocking, am never satisfied. With your explanation, I can get this done myself. Your explanation is straight to the point and educative. Thanks once again

Raisingnico: I really love this video . I palm roll but I am also contemplating interlocking so that I can retwist less . I love not retwisting at all but this method has me extremely curious. thank you for being so clean with the instructions on how you do it bc I was so lost I will be trying your way indefinitely thank you so much for sharing ❤️

Aya Baheera: Thank you for this video. I've been maintaining my locks for a while and every time I do them, I basically end up playing guessing games on which way to start. It never came to me to skip part of the rotation to end with the hair going in the correct direction!

Rhonda Merrick: This was great. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills. I've had locs for 8 years and never did anything but wash, condition and wear. I'm getting them interlocked for the first time ever tomorrow and wanted to know what it was. Very helpful video. Thank you .

Keely Cooley: I love that you maintain the same interlocking pattern in the same row, it looks extremely uniform and comfortable , i can assume based on the weight you can feel it lay in a direction pretty easily so it has to feel nice too as well as looking really symmetrical

bisig62: Been in lockdown cos of COVID-19, thinking of my locks and the salon. Been looking for videos for an hour and this is the best video so far. I am doing my hair by myself now

tyrone wilson: Very nicely filmed! Up close is very helpful. And showing all four directions done on the scalp slowly helps us new ppl. Thank you.

Joann Richards: So informative. I am thinking about getting locs but I wanted something I can do myself. I ran across your channel and I was delighted. Thank you for your clear instructions on interlocking and maintaining your locs. The tips on maintaining your frizz was phenomenal!!

Brianna Morrison: I interlocked my husbands locks for the first time at the beginning of this month and this is pretty much how I did it so that makes me feel very good. And you are so right about the dreadlock tool being easier to use than the needle, it was so nice to use.

Jerica: Ooh wee. You saved me! Lol I started my son's locs a few months ago, with braids, and knew right away that retwisting was not going to work for us.. Looked up how to interlock, and you completely explained it so effortlessly and genuinely. I appreciate you so much miss! Thank you

Sheila Ross: Brilliant! Clear and effective tutorial. The zoom aspect was very helpful. Well done and thanks.

Gemini: This tutorial was so easy to follow. Thank you for making this video

IAmSammy2: Your hair looks great. I’m 3 weeks into my journey. Went to a loctition who started me with coils. Getting my first retwist in 1 week. I need to shampoo often to keep scalp psoriasis under control. So we plan to switch to interlocking hopefully that will be on my second retwist since I’m starting not bud already. I plan to maintain myself eventually so I just used your link and ordered the locking tool. You have a great tutorial for the method. And I like the way you use the products.

Ojevwe Orhewere: Thank you so much for this video! It's the best video on the interlocking technique I have come across and, trust me, I have been through a lot of videos Your method is clear and makes it seem way less complicated. It now looks like something I could actually try out and I will! Thank you♥♥

The Sacred Cottage: I just started my lock journey and I have 60 locks, I'm doing the interlocking method as well because its the easiest on my locks I only use a latching tool or a crochet hook if I'm getting lose strands mixing with other locks and trying to combine each other or if I get a hole in my lock from interlocking but I never go over the same spot to create a weakness. I take my nail and if I can't fill the other side of my nail in my lock anymore through the hole that was created then it's locked together. But interlocking is so much easier maintenance than the crochet hook. I found when I first started my locks I was more prone to using the crochet hook for hours a day and I figured that wasn't healthy with my locks and brushed them out. But now that I started them again, Interlocking for me is the best way to go. I don't even use an interlocking tool. I only use the crochet hook and a latch hook if I want. But I was told it doesn't matter what method you use. All lock methods will come out with mostly the same-looking result.

Sheree Madkins: Thank you! This was so clear and detailed. I appreciate you taking the time to make this video.

Desiree Ford: This was a very good video and description. Thank you so much. I have been palm rolling and re-twisting and I would like to try interlocking. I have been loc'd for 23 months and it is getting ready to get warm and I sweat soooo bad and I would like fory locs to last longer. Thank you again!

Lyn B: Excellent tutorial. Thank you so much. It was very helpful ❤️

Tasha Johnson: Excellent video on interlocking. Best I have seen. I have interlocked my locs using this method. Your video shows exactly how to go through with the needle and up the loc. Excellent rotation. Saving your video. I also use the needle going down my locs if they seem loose. This tool is life since I have used it to go down my locs my locs have loc’ed. I am 6 months in my journey and still was experiencing unraveling until Alexa on utube suggested using the loc tool and I have not experienced anymore unraveling. This needle locs the hair in. Do a video showing how to go in and out to the end with the needle and how to create the blunt end.

Gab_45: This is a incredibly helpful tutorial. Very easy to follow. Thank you so much!!

Renee Taylor: Omg! I finally got a tutorial that showed me exactly how to interlock without moving super fast! Thank you!!

Mrs. L.: Thanks for this video. I'm new at this, just twisted my hair a month ago.. I just watched one video before this one, but I think this way keep the locs smooth as they grow out. Everyone likes their hair to look a certain way. I think this way will work for me even though there are more steps.

Brittiany Hightower: I've been doing two strand twists since I started 9 years ago. It goes fast now and I just put them in larger twists for a day or two to dry. But I'm a chef and sweat a lot in the kitchen so it comes undone after a couple of weeks. I've been interested in learning how to interlock for a while to maintain my roots without weakening the hair but have not found much helpful info on it. And many use a crochet hook to just do individual hairs. This is the most informative tutorial I've seen and helps me understand the process much betrer. Thank you so much for posting it. <3 :)

Rink2675: This was very helpful. I tend to just twist my new growth, but it seems like a good way to combat the frizz.

Tryn2bereal: Great explanation on the process. I also switch between palm rolling and interlocking. When I need a really smooth look across my edges and front I will palm roll that row around my face but everything else is interlocked. Otherwise all palm or interlock. If interlocking I try to give my hair a nice break and don’t touch up for 2-3 months. Interlocking is ideal for spring/summer in Texas since there is pool time, outdoor time and exercising so I can shampoo more frequently.

Katrina Jefferson: Thanks so much! I’ve always wanted to do interlocks on my own hair. You really broke it down and just because of that you have a new subscriber!

Jean G.: I have had sister-locks for 14 months and I was forced because of the pandemic, to re-tighten my hair for the first time. I only did the front. I recorded a video. My consultant will be available soon. I am a @ and I look forward to more of your content.

Your Sweetest Life, with Stephanie J: This is the ABSOLUTE BEST video showing interlocking!!! Thank you so much. I just started my locks with 2 strand twist, will interlock once I have more new growth. I’m feeling so much more confident now after this video

M Ann: Thanks you for making this video.. I’ve been winging it, so to speak for 1 1/2 years. This has been extremely informative. Apparently I’ve been doing it all wrong. Heh! I went to a salon and they cut near my roots, now just trying to figure out how to fix. Thanks so much!!!

Cris Reyes: You are a life saver. This explained so much perfectly. Thanks you !

Tamara Clarke: Great video. I use the 4 way method. But it does depend on your hair type. You could also crochet in loose hair, as it does come free after some time anyway. Been locked for over 12 years and the crochet method has helped me alot with loose hairs.

Brianna Carter: I love this video she took the time to explain everything the right way.

Cha' bridget tumusiime: Thank you so much, very good tutorial ! Unique local needle ! Never seen that needle before. I once used same hole and got holes/ spaces in my locs . I now prefer a hair dresser to relic my new growth because my locs are really long

Vonda Pooh ♑️🌍: Thank you so much for this tutorial on the correct way to interlock. This has been a tremendous help to me. I have been doing this method for 9 months and this is the best method for me. The twist method would not stay very long for me

Jojo's World: Thank you so much! This is easier than I thought. Not many people in my city interlock and if they do they charge way too much. Now I can do my own for free.

Mary Bush: Throughly enjoyed watching your video, and most of all so informative, and your demonstration of how you interloc your beautiful locs was really helpful!! Thank You So Much

shawn easter: This was very helpful for me to loc my son hair. You helped me do a great job that he complimented me ( which is not often) he is very picky, God bless you

KB: you’re the only one on youtube this far that has done the four point rotation RIGHT thank you so much!!

Sylvia LH: great video I was so confused and this makes so much sense, thank you! I was really worried when I saw the one where it went through the same hole every time!! Than you for clearing that up!

Meesh: Thank you for posting this! Just purchased the tool; going to interlock this week!

Ms. Jackson: Thank you! Thank you! Your video is to the point, shows exactly what to do and exactly what I need to see! THANK YOU!!! I appreciate you!

Kissie Harris: Great video on inter-locing. I use this same method and use the 4-way method. I also will try to wrap the fuzz.

Kaliza House: This tutorial was FANTASTIC. It was simple and clear. Thanks, lady.

Cinnamon Fist: Thank you for the video and the close ups!! I recently relocated and before finding a new loctitian, I want to try to interlock myself. I will start this process tonight!

NaturalU - From Sisterlocks to traditional locs!: Excellent video, I just pulled out/cut my Sisterlocks after over 12 years and got traditional locks. I wasn’t sure how I would maintain my new locks but your video inspires me, Love your locks!

Le Bleh: OMG THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!! Detailed, sharp and I'm focus, clear and easy to understand. You are a lifesaver!!

Jenifer Morris: Thank you so much for this great tutorial! I've been trying to find someone to teach me how to maintain my partner's locs without much success. Now I can help him tidy up his gorgeous locs.

XO Luche: Very good technique. Thanks so much. This is one of the best and well taught videos I've seen on interlocking thus far Appreciate you Kween

Akeem Ducksworth: Great video tried a couple with my hair and it works like a charm thank you so much

Lee & Clementine: I'm not really sure why people are leaving rude comments. This tutorial was wonderful.

Omoby: I just wanna say thank you for this video. This was the first video I came across that helped me after I got the relock pin. Because of you, I don't have to spend $90 relocking my hair. It's now "Do It Myself!"

Morah Janet Newell: Thank you. I do my own re-ties now. Saving a whole lot of money. This video is fire.

heather K: This is a really great explanation. Thank you!

Maia Turman Cooke: first time doing my own locs since everyone is in quarantine. thank you so much for this video just ordered this tool on amazon

Cornesia B: This is awesome sauce…..I’m going to order ours right now. Nice and easy method especially for my son and daughter the new growth is really real.

Sharon Warren: Thank you sis for making this so simple and clear. Your locs are beautiful

K.P. Motivation: Thanks for this video. I wanted my son to keep his natural. His hair was not locking right. And he's very stubborn and rarely sit still. This is the best way for me to do his hair. And it stays neat. Especially during a wash. No more unraveling.

QueenNot2Shy: Great Video! Thanks for making this look easy!

Marcia Deer: Very informative. Just started my journey and I’m glad to be introduced to that tool and I’ll try the lock spray.

Nichole Green: My needles finally arrived after a month of waiting!! I used the crochet needle until it come an I can say I prefer interlocking over twist and gel!! I can condition my hair more, or just let water run through it without twisting it constantly. Thank You Thank You❤

Kristil: I didn’t even know this was an option! I’m six months in getting retwists but my locs are dangling off weak bases. I wonder if this method would be better for fortifying them!

Beverly Walcott: Thank you so much, very simply explained, but to the point. I am relocking my son's hair.

ford sheila: Hi I've been nature 5-6 years I have twisted, cut low etc. In between thought about locking people was telling me, well you can't just wake up one morning and say I'm going to lock up so for 2-3 years I've thought about it I think I'm ready thank you for sharing your tutorial I think I can do this I have also subscribed to your page so I will be watching you. So how often do you have to relock?

NaturalCurls4Life: Nice video! I interlocked my loose hair a year ago and I love my locs. I interlock every 2 months.

Desery168: Thank you for sharing this video. You explained this perfectly.

Covamii Blakney: Beautiful and nicely demonstrated. Wow you make retwist a breeze with this technique! I will be trying on my own locs. Bless Up!!

Jon Scott: Everyone has their own way of teaching. The most important part is that you learn. One cannot learn if you don't listen. Interlocking has a learning curve so details matter. No one can watch this video and say that they didn't learn. Thank you for teaching us the right way.

ÉVA: THANK YOU. Most informative & helpful video out there. Thank you for taking the time, for your patience. I feel Ready to start interlocking now

Nia Knows Hair: So informative! Thank you

Sasha Oruaga: Very helpful tutorial!! Thank you!

naicoopMD: So I have been locking my hair for 20 years and have always twisted them. I had never heard of this until recently. But being that I work out a lot and want to swim more this will be a great to continue to have great looking hair. Thank you for showing me a new way

Sherrie Fearon: good morning , I really enjoyed this video, I just started my lock journey three weeks ago, so I'll wait for about 6 weeks to redo, this method seems easy for me to try at home. I locked the root only, so how do I transformed to method instead of continue twisting the ends? I await your response..

Keema Mack: I enjoyed your video. Here I thought this process would be long. Have my suns hair in traditional lov locs. But have been using the silver clips. And letting it sit dry then take out. He's only 7 an loves his hair but hates these pins. I just ordered my needles from Amazon. And the next twist you have me very confident now. Thank you for your patience and being efficient and gentle in teaching us as viewers. Peace Love an Light Unto You!!!
