How To Wear Hair Tinsel (With Microbeads)

As we bask in the Christmas season, I'm always about a sparkling holiday look. Last year I showed you how to spice up your holiday looks with barrettes and some cozy hairstyles for the winter. This year, I'm showing you how to use Hair Tinsel with micro beads. You will need: Tinsel, a crochet hook, microbeads, and needle-nose pliers.

Hi welcome to hair fluent today, i'm doing a fun video on something i thought was pretty festive and creative for the holidays, and that is hair tinsel. When i first discovered hair tinsel. I thought it was such a fun and creative and unique idea to do something. Different and festive to your hair, that is like super temporary and just gives it a little sparkle and spunk for the holiday season or new year's eve or any like birthday or celebration that you might be going through. As you can see, i've applied some hair tinsel to myself already to give you like a demo of what it would look like to apply it. So that being said, i wanted to show you guys today how i applied my hair tinsel and how you can apply it safely at home. I purchased my hair tinsel off of amazon and in the comment section below, i have linked multiple different packs of hair tinsel that are safe to use in your hair. When i say safe to use, you want to have something that can stay in your hair. For a couple of days, so assuming that you're washing styling using hot tools and other products on your tinsel, while it's in your hair, you want to make sure it's not going to melt or burn or do anything damaging to your hair while it's in there. So i've linked a couple packs of hair tinsel that are safe to use. For this. That being said, there are two different methods for applying your hair tinsel. There is the tying in method which involves tying the hair tinsel around like singular strands of hair, so that it just lays. But i will tell you that i've had a difficult experience with trying to learn that um. I could tie it and i could get it in there, but it just wouldn't stay. It would continuously slide out of my hair. So maybe it's something i'm doing wrong, but that's not something i'm going to share with you today, because i'm straight up just not good at it. So the method i want to share with you today is actually using these little micro beads um. They are small little beads that encircle your hair and the tinsel together we're going to be using a crochet needle to pull hair through the beads and then we're going to be using some needle nose pliers to pinch the beads shut and attach them securely to our Hand so that being said, let's jump right in so i can show you how i got this hair tinsel in my hair. Firstly, i'm going to show you where i applied it, because it doesn't make sense to put hair tinsel all throughout your hair in here, because you're not really going to see that you want to apply the tinsel where your hair is most visible. So for me that was down my part and a little bit around my hairline, because i do tuck my hair behind my ears, so i thought it would be cute to have a little bit there too. I'Ve applied a micro bead of tinsel right here about a half inch behind that about an inch behind that and then one more half inch back here. So i have four beads along the top of my hair. Today, i'm going to be demonstrating for you the front most one here, because i wanted you to be able to see it really well um. I did place two micro beads of tinsel on each side here here and same thing on this side, so all together, i put six beads in my hair and i'm gon na show you the seventh and then i will be done. That would be all the tinsel. I'M adding to my hair, the color of tinsel. Obviously, a pack comes with multiple colors. The colors i used uh came together in a pack i'll try to show them to you, but they are spread out across. My counter was a rainbow pack that looked like this. It'S kind of like a pink gold and silver combination um. So i grabbed about like one of each color in this in this pack, which was like one gold, one silver and one pink and threaded one of each through the beads, um and again i'll. Show you how i do it with multiple strands of tinsel. Around my face here, i put just two strands in each bead, just because i didn't want as much tinsel in the front. I wanted more along the top to like layer over, and you also see when i mentioned putting one bead at my part because of the way that i thread the tinsel through it kind of splits and falls down each side of my hair. So i don't need to put like one on each side of my part. I am perfectly fine doing just one at the part and having it spread and display over my head that way. So, let's get into my demonstration of the tinsel so, like i said around my part, i used one of each color, so i'm gon na grab one of my silver, pink and gold. So when i grab my three strands of tinsel together, i want to make sure that they are lined up pretty evenly. I noticed not all my tinsel is the same length, but i want to make sure each of the three strands is pretty much like. I have it in the middle so once i have my three strands, i'm going to take my crochet hook and i'm going to take one of my micro beads and i'm going to loop, the micro bead right onto my crochet hook. That'S the easiest way to get this in i'm going to set that aside and have my needle nose pliers handy as well, so for my hair, i'm just going to grab a pinch of a section here, as you can see, that's just like a really thin pinch Of a section, it's probably about like two millimeters thick, i'm going to take the middle of my tinsel, and i just want to lay it right next to my hair and kind of secure it that way. So it's perfectly parallel with that strand of hair that i just held, and i like to grip it on both sides, because it's easier for me to grab it with the needle with the crochet hook. I'M going to take my crochet hook and thread the bead onto the hair, grab the bead and pull all of my tinsel and hair through the bead. So now that i'm finished with my crochet hook, i want to secure the bead with my pliers, all the way down to my scalp, so i'm holding the hair holding the bead at my scale with the pliers and i'm going to pinch tightly. So i don't know if you can see this, but i've just folded, my bead in half over my hair and the tinsel. So you can see the way that my tinsel is threaded through the bead. It kind of came through the bead this way and lays over so the tinsel was kind of draped over my head pinched at the center with the bead and that's kind of how it stays so now. Finally, i have all this extra tinsel because it's a little bit longer than my hair, i'm just going to make sure i lift up the pieces. I don't want to cut any of my real hair, so i have to be careful here and i just want to cut them just a little bit shorter than my hair and i say a little shorter because it just looks a little bit more natural. If it's longer than your hair, like it looks a little silly, i'm gon na take my three pieces here and there you have it. That'S how you secure some tinsel into your hair to have a festive look for the holiday season or any holiday of your choice. So again, the potential tinsel that i purchased came in multiple colors. It came in the pack that i showed you i used on my own hair, but it also came in a rainbow two different shades of gold. I have black two different shades of blue two inches of pink, a red and a green, oh and a silver. So, depending on your holiday, you really can mix and match these to create any kind of color theme look uh with gentle in your hair. Sofia Guevara: This is the only video that’s actually helped me put my tinsel in

Scott Snyder: Super helpful thanks for the video!!!!!

CrazyCat264: I probably have pliers somewhere, I just suck at keeping track of stuff do you think they are extremely necessary or would my fingers be able to do it Update: I found the pliers lol

Mela Mar : Thanks ❤️

Stacie Bookhagen: Wouldn’t it look better under your part, not right on top?

jenni williams: So that you are not supposed to put them on your exposed part. Each time you do a side you pull at least an inch over and flip it and do there. Don't want people to be able to see the microbeads.

Kagashuri: Now how would u remove them? I am struggling

Kirsten Grogan: Are the beeds plastic… like from the craft section, or do i need special hair beads?
