Hi guys bonjour bonsoir welcome back to dxly unlocks. I know it's been a while, since i recorded already posted a video, i've been super busy. I hate saying that word, but it's the truth and i think you guys reached out to me to make sure i'm okay, because you haven't seen a video of mine. I truly truly appreciate it. I hope you all have been well during um. This whole covet 19 situation, but today's video is about instant locks, so we're going to talk about instant locks and how they differ from lock extensions. So these days i am in the shop a lot more often than i used to be so i don't really have time to record as much as i used to, because i'm managing my time a little different now, because i have a higher volume, i'm taking a Higher volume of clients in so i apologize for not posting that much anymore, but i will still try to post here and there for you guys and as some of you guys know, if you've been following me, i do not post unless i'm inspired to post. I don't post just a post, i actually have to be inspired and actually have to like the content um, so here we're gon na jump right into it. This is me finishing an instant lock, but we're gon na get into how and why i do it. The way that i do it all right so before i even start the instant locs, i part the hair out to make sure the client likes it to make sure i have my part to lock ratio together and then i go by each twist and i unravel The twist and that's how i start my instant, lock um now what i do is, i start the instant lock with enough space to re-twist. So i don't do it too close to the root and i'll talk about a little bit about that later. Why? I don't do it so close to the root, but i use a three: a triple um crochet tool triple needle crochet tool. Some people use ones. People use two, i'm more comfortable using the three, because that's really what i use most of the time. Unless i'm doing a repair, i may use a two or a one. I do not sell these anymore. I hope to sell them again in the future. Kova 19 totally ruined my supplier. So hopefully i can be making some more later on maybe next year, but as of right now i don't sell them anymore, but you can totally find these on amazon um. Be careful, though, because the quality kind of varies depending on who you buy it from so, as you guys can see, this is the same method i used to do and to do a block extensions. This is the exact same method except i am now working on natural hair. I get a lot of questions about what is the difference between lock extensions and instant locks. The difference only is that one is done with someone's natural hair. The other one is done with natural, hair and artificial hair, so this right here is instant locks. It'S done completely with your natural hair, as you can see, with this client's natural hair only i have not added any hair at all. I am using the crochet tool to mesh her hair, together strategically to create a lock to create a lock that would be more mature than a starter lock and the results will vary based on texture. I will post more instant, lock videos to show you guys the the variance and results so right here, the difference, the main difference. In my method, i would say when it comes to doing lock, extensions and instant locks when it comes to instant locks. There is no artificial hair to help support anything you're, literally using only that person's natural hair. So you have to be really intentional. You have to be really strategic and you have to be very focused and understand why you're doing what you're doing so, you're, not just pushing the needle in and out you're, actually twisting the hair as well you're, creating a shape and you're making sure when you wash This person's hair, it doesn't come out, they don't have the afro they came in with because i've had clients who have gone to other people who did their uh instant locks and as soon as they watch it, it's back to being an afro. So that's not instant locks that pretty much was um someone who did it wrong? Probably, but you should do it in such a way that these locks are not coming out they're, just gon na mature from the point you have brought them to from an afro, but they should not come out at all, just like lock, extensions, um and, of course, Results vary with lock extensions as well based on the person's hair, texture and length so, but with instant locks, it's a little bit more secure. You don't have that issue of. Oh, you know. Is it going to stay? There should be no question about it. Staying when it comes to instant locks, because it is from the person's root natural hair, all of that good jazz. As far as the needle size, i like to use a 0.5. The two sizes that i were that i was selling was a 0.75 and a 0.5. So i like to use the 0.5 because, because it is smaller and it allows me to be more flexible with the natural hair, i like to use a 0.5 as well. If i'm doing small lock extensions, if i'm doing big long extensions, i will use a 0.5 because it grips, it pulls more hair at one time. So basically, i'm trying to see if i ever got a good angle here, but basically i start from one and a a half an inch, a half an inch from the root and i started there and then i go to the to her ends. She had transitioning hair that we cut the the perm the perm or relaxer ends off, so i i really focus on her ends a lot because of that. So this is the finished result of the um block the incident locks. This is the finished result. As you can see it's standing up. It would stand up even more if i did it super close to the root, so i left at least half an inch from her roots and from here we're gon na wash her hair, and i love washing hair, because not only is it something you're supposed to Do when you're servicing someone's hair, but it's also a way to check your work, a way to fact check what you just did. So this is, after her first retwist after getting her instant locks. I don't remember we styled her hair, not this day. I don't think we did, but this is her very first retwist the same day. We did the lock extensions wash re-twist same day and they should stay. They should look like locks, they should not come out um. She wanted a um, a break pattern. So that's what we did and this is another shot of her hair after we're done with her instant locks and, as i said earlier, instant locks still go through the locking process. It just starts at a more mature stage than coils would so, for example, here is. I believe her third maintenance, where she chose to have um her roots interlocked instead of retwisted, so she can have more time in between her maintenance and, as you can see here, her locks got much thicker much fuller. They swelled up and budding still takes place even after instant locking, because that shedded hair that creates the locks and helps the locks to form it still happens. You still get it. It still moves down the lock even with instant locks. You just start at it at a point where you don't have to worry about unraveling or so much work to get the hair to lock and here's. Another example of instant locks that i did and i chose these two clients on purpose, because they both have very high density hair. So to show you guys what it looks like on high density hair to get instant locks. So, as i said, the results will vary based on your hair, texture, hair density. All of that, so, as you can see, her results vary from the previous client. They have different hair texture, but they do have similar density, so they were both able to get a lot of locks and still have that volume. Their locks could still be a certain size. So in the next video i'll show you guys what it looks like on someone with low to medium density, hair, the next instant, lock video that i post um. So this right here was actually a beautiful little girl. I believe she was four years old at the time, but she wanted locks so bad her mom. Let her get them, and this is the results of her instant locks, and this next clip here is her first maintenance with me. She watched with with her mother at home several times, but this is her first time in the shop getting her maintenance done with me. So the right is before we did the retwist and styling and the left is after we did the retwist and styling. So i hope this video was helpful. Um. All the information you need to contact me will be found in the description of this video. I get a lot of questions about how to contact me how to book with me in the description of the video um. A lot of confusion with how my process goes: you have to have a consultation first um due to a high demand and clients. I may stop accepting new clients here very soon, but my next availability will be in january of 2021. I do not have anything left for the year 2020. Thank you guys so much for watching. Thank you for your support. Thank you for those of you who still watch my videos, even though i haven't posted in a while. You truly truly help contribute just by watching, and i appreciate you guys bye guys, see you later. You

Kayla Francois: Wow 4 years old and wanted locs so bad I really love that! I remember when I was younger my grandma put starter locs in my hair and my mother argued with her about it and took them out. She said they were ugly and she didn’t wanna have to learn how to maintain them. About 20 years later and I’m on my own loc journey

Sagi Eatz: I wish I had known about instant locs when I started mine. Would have been a better option for my lifestyle. But your videos have helped me maintain my family's locs. We missed you and glad that your safe.

D K: Shoutout to you! You are the reason I instant locd my hair. I’m like a 4a edges but 3a everywhere else. I knew it would be hell trying to loc my hair the natural way. This way is really helping to get the look I want. Just made 6 months today!!! Keep doing what you do!!

Whitwhit Davi: So right after you do the locs it's best to wash it? I really would like to know the very next process you should do for instant locs right after you create the locs. ♥️

Jahnay Sharp: Hey I’m interested to know how long does it take you to do it?

Lena Bina: Thank you so much for your video ❤️I learn a lot and I started to do my hair

Ari B: Do you do Loc reattachments on sisterlocs? I’ll be getting them installed this year but I wanna reattach my DIY two-strand twist starter locs (that I interlocked )to get my length back. I may have around 500-550 when it’s all said and done. Do you charge the same price for each additional loc after the initial 100 when they are micro?

Alita Grandison: I MISSED YOU!!! Good to see you and am glad you are well. Blessings to you and your family

Malissa Oyeneyin: I love your method. I am thinking of locking my hair that is all natural. My texture is like a 3c or 4b I think‍♀️. I do have the same needle you have and did try it on my son who already have locs and love the look. Great video

Carolynn Bryant: You do amazing work!

Zoomed ENT: how many locs should you consider getting ? and what do you think is better instant locs or starting from the beginning?

Ria J: Had my instant locs going on a year and my hair is like hard. Any way to soften them?

Kristie Antoine: How small can you go if you're using the instant loc method? I ask because in the Caribbean I was told that I can't have 80 locks!

nathan: I've just had instant locs done today and they're all rigid and sticking outwards like a hedgehog. Does anyone know how long it takes for them to fall down and look natural because I feel so ugly right now :|

Madison Grace: I've got locks, this helps out a LOT

Cherrie Parris B: Thank you for the videos!!! I have a question..I have instant locs for 3 months now and they are super fuzzy. I have had two sessions after the initial install where my loctitian crocheted the new growth but my entire loc is fuzzy! Please help my hair isn't dry and feels okay just so very very fuzzy. I should also say that my texture is very loose

JayGee 03: Just curious what’s the average cost for these? They look nice

ISRAEL: Hello so my one year anniversary is coming in March me and my son’s. I’m disappointed in our growth, our hair has gotten thicker but is growing downward slowly. My loc lady say our hair grow outward.. any recommendation on why and what we can do?

Tae Lew: Her hair is so thick and full. I wish my hair was this dense.

Alex Collins: Got instant locs, took 6 hours to complete. The person who did it used 2 prong crochet needle. Before I had starter locs using back comb method. It was horrible, the loctician didnt do good. My instant locs are doing great though

J B locs: Dope video as usual! What’s the status on your locs?

Home with Poppa and Bae Thomas: I started my locs back in November and now I’m on my 3rd month with free forming quick question how do I know my locs are starting to grow and bud?

I.am.Mbinya: Does instant locs puff with time? Like increase in width? Thank you

Hey Sherokee: How can I book an appointment with you?! I’m 6 months in and I’m thinking about combing them out. This is exactly the size I wanted. The back and left side of my hair was parted wider than the right side. I’m only just now realizing, now that my locs started to form. One side looks full while the back and other side looks spaced out. Idk wether to comb them all out and start over or just comb the bigger ones out and get those instant loc’d and divided into twos. *after watching this I want to comb them all out and get instant locs

Jenee Robinson: Beautiful work! I would have loved to have seen it from the root; the angle is a bit low. Thanks for sharing this!!!!

Gandokazi !: how long does this process take

Sharon Turner-Wingba: Great video, very informative

FAMILY FLEX: Amazing work!!!

kahs fbdbs: How long did it take you to finish the hair style?

Kennedy McClinton: with instant locs like if you were to wash your hair does the hair shrink?? that’s my only concern because I have 4C hair and I’m assuming you start off with like a slightly stretched hair??

Edna Cossa: Hello, when I started to make my dreads I used gel, as they were taking a while to get I crocheted it, but my dreads were very thin, while when I touched up with gel they were thicker, I would like to know if after crocheting the dreads will come back to get thick, please answer me.

Jimaima Ebiringa: do you recommend having the client come with their hair blown out?

afocused2010: Hello it’s been almost 2 months since I’ve had my interlocks started, but now I want instant locs. My hair has started to loc some. Is it too late to change to instant locs? Will someone need to start fresh to start instant locs?

djkensgirl009: It's good to see you back! You are an awesome stylist and loctitation. I wish you were here in Houston...

Dz: With instant locs after u do them can u wet them immediately?

Demi Bell: Beautiful!!!

Just Ki Natural and Free: Could I get this look without dense hair? My hair is soooo flimsy

Mildred Phoenix: I have small box braids right now I want to do my own instant locs when I take my hair down. 1. Should take the braids all the way down wash and twist then lol? 2. Can I interlock the roots instead of twisting after locing the hair?

bukola kazeem: I wish so bad a loctician like you is close to me. I'm so sad I just had my second loc and I'm more hurt and disappointed than the first time.

Michelle Reese: I have a question. My hair is cut in a ( Taper-mohawk) i want to start dreads again by two strand twist. Will it be uneven or should i wait to grow more hair
