I Got Tape In Hair Extensions | Would I Do It Again? Does It Damage Your Hair?

I got tape in hair extensions (for volume, not length) and filmed the entire process for you. I went to Morgan (@morganlovely) at We Are a Nice Place (@weareaniceplace) in Toronto and she was amazing!

I am just leaving the Fairmont Royal York Andrew, and I got to have a quick midweek staycation and it was so nice. Oh my god. First of all, I just love hotels about that from my mom I think, but they newly renovated the Royal York, and it's really really beautifully done. This is the room. Well, this is the bed I'll just quickly show you. This is the bathroom which I literally want to live in shower it's like a whole room anyways I am leaving now to go, see Morgan at we are a nice place, collective salon and just gon na put in some extensions for me. So my hair doesn't look like yay, so I'm just getting all my stuff together. I somehow even for one night like forgot all my hair products, any Hot Tools, and what else did I forget? I forgot some other things which is not surprising. For me, this is the little living room that we had as well and the bar area. Alright, let's go okay, we are with Morgan, the lovely and beautiful Morgan at we are a nice place and we're gon na do extension. So I'm very excited extensions, taping extensions, yeah and I'm gon na show you guys how she does it and just gon na answer any questions. Okay, so here's the hair and she ordered two different colors to make it blend. So this is gon na be like more on the bottom, and then this will be highlights and it's really flat. So it'll lay really nicely so we're in just mentioned that I'm styling my own hair. I have to be really careful not to get the actual. Like top part of the extension hot, because it's glue yeah right yeah, we call it a bond, so the job - and I get the bond my curling iron, because, like into your own there yeah so just don't put the curling iron right to the root. I don't think you put it anyway, but yeah yeah, so we just straighten my hair and we're gon na put the extensions in straight and then just dial it after. So how long do these usually last for so when you say, take really good care of them? What kind of so we want to do is make sure that, when you're brushing them you're brushing really carefully, you want to make sure that you're, like washing them, really gently like you know that kind of you take care when you sleep, okay, sort of like rubbing Them against your lips right and I need to get up so. Okay, okay, thanks, sometimes girls, look like they're. Just they just want to take care of them very well. They like not wash them, often enough or maybe they'll like sleep with wet hair or something like that and they'll get all like patched up. Okay, so there's like a top part, and then I wan na yeah a sandwich. Oh my god, I haven't had my hair. This long since I was like a kid really yeah, it's cool. So then, when I get the like, what do you call it right up, removed and then and then do we put the lawn curling it? Okay, I'm just gon na. Do we can always add more hair? I don't want it to be too much for you and so like this. These are too long, so I'm standing them that way. That'S such a good idea, yeah, it's really cool. So the only time I'll ever a meter see it is, if you like, give it separates right there right so completely. You said you haven't been for a while yeah and one of my few times there's hardly as my color right, of course, but I loved them and they will be like, oh god, what, if I never want to take them out after a while you're, like run Your hands through your hair or not steal some things doing that oh yeah, but if that doesn't bother, you like some people are called me. That would be like I really like to make just really like running into my hair yeah. So versamark do anything actually so we're starting with a minimal amount, because I want to make sure that works with your hair. It feels really nice like it's. The hair is pretty soft, yeah. Okay, so like like a different person a little bit, can you tell that? Fuller, yes from looking at it yeah like under here, you can see it yeah in terms of hair products. Yep do I do anything differently, I don't the conditioner okay, I don't do that. It wait. Okay, you know I'm going to use a texturizing spray guard, adjust. Okay, fine, you just don't want to put any conditioning treatment. Okay, you don't want to like, like I was saying before you only aggravate none at all, so just when you're doing the texture spray, like don't like to rub it in during kid, but I mean it's reasonable. It'S just like I honestly can barely feel anything. [ Applause ]: we created the monster okay, so talk to me about like aftercare. What are the things that, like myself and anyone who's done? Really, gentle with your hair, so when you're brushing brush down and try not to use like a fine-tooth comb at the root, because it will snag and it'll really hurt. Okay, you don't want to conditioner on your roots because it will break down bond and, and then you just want to treat it like, you know very delicately. It'S it's, not your hair. So if you treat it well, it will last a long time, but men go to bed with your hair wet and it's a you know, kind of get so a little tangled while you're sleeping. Then it's really good an oculist morning, yeah start to pull from other areas. So right now, it's like a really clean section. If you have your hair kind of like rubbing on the pillow a lot, it will start to undo the glue okay. So basically, you just want to get a silk pillowcase and brush it really gently and drama. Commissioner, I think when I'm sleeping do I want to put it in like a low ponytail, so that it lays really it depends whatever sleeper you are. I probably am the worst kind of sleeper, I'm also the worst gon na sleep in the morning. My hair is yes, so it's always been. You can get like a scrunchie like one of those French keys and just do like a nice little pony and sing. The song: okay, okay, thank you! So much

Eva Álvarez: Wear extensions when I regretted having cut it a lot. Thank you for your naturalities when making this video. Salutations from the Barcelona city. Spain

MCPower87: Your hair looks fab, as always. :) Also, that looks like a lovely place for a staycation! I am a hotel girl, too... I like to think it is because my great-grandparents moved throughout the US managing hotels, so my Grammy grew up like real-life Eloise and passed it on to me! xx, Claire

Jenna A: Looking forward to an update!

Melissa Maduro: I use clip on extensions once in a while but I want to trim them because I find them too long! Love your hair length and how you get more volume. You are hair goals.

runspud: It’s fun to see the process and difference. I’ve always thought your hair looked great. I definitely dont have amazing hair but I wouldn’t do extensions. I’d worry my fine hair would be damaged and I’d probably feel like my hair looked like crap without them after awhile. And then it becomes a thing,,,,,,,

Jillian Lansky: Would you ever get (or have you gotten) extensions? xx Jill

AwkwardlyDbeauty: Excited to watch!!!

Lpg 8: As long as you’re happy that’s all that matters

Иван Иванов:

Mira Geborska: Hi Jillian...thanks for sharing this video. As it is not=w couple of months after you put them in will you share the update and if you regret, will you do it again? Don't know if you had them pulled up already, or if you have seen your hair without them to be able to assess if they damaged your hair. But I am curious about your afterthoughts. I have fine hair and it has been my struggle but I also deal with hair loss, and don't think extensions would be a solution fo me unfortunately.

rosa lina: You should have let more longer , it fit you weel .

Stacie Heroux: Hi Jillian. Love your videos...been watching them for a long time. It’s nice to try new things:). I have fine, thin hair. The thing is, when you’re trying to get/ keep your hair healthy, extensions are the worst possible thing you can do. Every place where the tape is in your hair, that hair will be damaged. I have tried them and cried when I had them taken out bc my hair looked so bad bc of so much broken and pulled out hair. I know you just had them put in, but the sooner you take them out the better ...for your hair. Also, your hair looked great before you put them in. ❤️. This is not meant at all to be a critical comment, just an informative one. I never comment on videos, but just had to on this one.

Kathleen Hatchell: So, thinking of extensions after seeing this video. How are you feeling about them now. My hair is just like yours...I'm super scared that I'll be able to see them...Your thoughts???

shinniex: I’ve had hair extensions for a couple of years and there’s no need to get a silk pillow case. Unless you want one since they’re luxurious! Just make sure to brush them and condition them. They should last three or four times.

Shelley Poole: My hair is thick corse and curly. Don’t think it would work for me. Your hair looks amazing!

Kinlee Pippin: Can you wear it up without the extensions showing?

ama nda: I would never use tape in again there probably the worst thing you could do …where do I begin? Soap and water aggravates the tape like anything would if you were to wash tape ! It opens the ends and allows for extension to become damaged by this which begins to pull on your natural hair when the extension is open by the soap and water other hairs get stuck inside of the extension causing further damage…I have had my tape in extensions ripped out of my head causing bald spots …. The weave/braid was the best thing that ever happened to me… It’s allowed my natural hair to grow bonded by just string there’s no glue tape sticking to my hair getting caught in anything like one could imagine with anything that is sticky.

Miriam Recio Pascual: I sometimes don’t watch your videos un YT because I see them in IGTV (not the same but kind of...) ‍♀️

Benyahia Rafida:

Jenn Morrison: My hair's so thick that it won't blend with extensions...but so fine that it breaks off when I'm growing it out. Essentially, woe is me.

tunafish130: where is your blazer from in this video??

rosa lina: I could say to you : your extensions were re used .I see the blue tape I hope you didn't pay a lot for this ..and without you have beautiful hair

idk bro: omg why didn’t you get them longer

Lpg 8: Sorry, but I think this is a waste because you cut them. If all you wanted was volume, why didn't you just get the seemless hair extensions you clip in? They are as flat as these and you can put them in and take them out whenever you want. Tape ins start at about $800-1500 and seemless clip ins between $60-300. It would have been worth it for long hair.

Wendy Lynch: This was boring as hell
