EVO Haze Powder: https://rstyle.me/+Fb1KX79sZ60LMRmpJNV...

Davines Hair Clay: https://rstyle.me/+763Nr5jgrXnPaDCQO50...

1.) Under cut Trim

-Leave hair dry

-Use the clippers and work my way down the grades

-Clean up with the scissors

2.) Rinse Hair with Conditioner

-Sometimes I’ll try cut the top for a quick trim

-But today I want to give more refinement to the cut so getting it wet

3.) Trim hair

-Brush hair out

-Trim with scissors

4.) Wash hair

5.) Add Volume

-Using Klorane

6.) Dry Hair

-Most times will let air dry because I like the natural way it lays, gives more to work with

-Use blow dryer when want a specific look or to tone down natural swirls and cowlicks

7.) Straighten edges

-Gives more edgy lines

8.) Add texture

-Usually use EVO’s Haze for volume and texture, but fresh out. Also love because it makes clean hair look dirty (in a good way)

-Since I already have volume will add in texture with Davines hair wax

All right, hey there, fashion friends, welcome to today's episode on today's episode, how i cut my own hair, hey with me, if you ride with me, you can slide with me if you feel like all right. So here is a video that has been long awaited by many of you definitely been getting this question a lot, and that is how do i cut my own hair, i've mentioned in previous q and a's that i have been cutting my own hair ever since we Went into lockdown ever since covid, i have not been to my hairstylist in over a year which is killing me because i absolutely love going to the hairstylist. But yes, so i have embraced it this summer i actually snapped and finally just shaved the whole thing off and absolutely loved it loved rocking it, and actually it's been a great thing for maintaining my hair because, as it's grown out, it's really easy to maintain it. Um, the natural way my hair has been growing out just gives you those nice natural layers. It'S actually pretty easy, so um, which you guys, maybe i should have just kind of let the mystery lie. You know really. Let you guys think that i just have some serious mad skills, but i decided that yeah i'll reveal how easy it really is, and so maybe if you are interested for yourself, you can do this as well, because it's pretty easy and pretty straightforward. So thank you for all that have been giving me feedback on my hair and loving my hair, which is always fun. I will say, i've always prioritized my hair when it comes to just style and color, and just always making sure that i have something edgy, something. That'S a little bit cutting edge because i just think it's such a great tool for style. I think that when you have a you know, edgier type haircut or something that's not as mainstream. It really elevates any look that you put with it. So you can have a super super basic look, but if you have some cool edgy hair i mean girl, you're set, you can rock out that door and be and be stylistic without even trying, and i think that's what i love about it. I think that's why i loved the shaved head so much the shaved head, just elevated, every single look i put on because the shaved head was just edgy as could be, and so what it just added that perfect contrast. So that's my little two cents. I think that if you are looking to shake things up, you're looking for something to kind of elevate, your style go for it with the hair, and so, if you're not really sure what to do for your hair, i just suggest going on pinterest. I have my little pinterest mood board for hair cuts, um on my on mine, and i just anytime. I see a haircut that i, like i just pop it on there and then, when it comes time to cut my hair, i go through that little mood board and it really helps me get inspired for for what i really want. So yeah just have fun with it. Do some research and remember, hair always grows back? That is the beautiful thing. So it force comes worse. You can just invest in some good hats, so there we go all right. So with that, let's take a look at how i cut my own hair yeah, so i am starting off with my hair dry. I always start off with my hair dry um. Most of the time i just trim up this undercut part um with the clippers um, but today i'm actually going to trim up the top as well a lot of times. I just kind of do little snippets to just add a little bit of texture to it and get rid of some of the volume as it grows out um, but today it definitely means like some serious refinement. So that is what we're doing uh so we'll just get started here with the clippers. I start off with just the electrical clippers i'm using this wall brand. That'S what i've been using for a while and i usually just start with the highest grade and then work. My way down, i'm gon na go real tight today, so i'm starting off with a three yeah. This is a little trick that i learned at the beginning of lockdown from a youtube video: try to find it as well of a barber, basically showing how you can give yourself a self cut, a self touch up so just kind of starting from the back here. Right at the edge and then working your way forward, so real simple and then i kind of move to the next row, and it just basically goes along the natural crown. I guess you would call it so now yeah. You should have kind of just like that. Natural, i don't know, i don't know, i don't know the technical terms here. [ Applause ] good hold on behind there, cutting it a little closer okay. So that is the three. This is not good lighting. I just have to say so now: i'm just gon na switch my grades to a dose, and i just want it to be short. I want it to kind of blend, so i'll, probably just do kind of one row of the two and then i usually will do just a little bit on the bottom in the back. [ Applause ] i'll check that with a mirror later, okay - and i always leave around the ears for last - i don't touch that with the clippers, because then it just gets too short and a little too masculine for my liking. I find that keeping the little side burns here a little bit longer and a little more to the point kind of helps, keep some femininity femininity in there okay, so that is pretty much it for the undercut. I just you know, roll up in there with the clippers. I'M just gon na double check the back. Oh yeah, not bad! I'M getting the hang of this after all this time. So now i'm going to just do a quick, rinse um with conditioner to just get my hair, nice and heavy to cut the upper part to get it real, nice and clipped down be back okay. So there we go uh hair's, all rinsed out nice and um slick i normally before i start i will always look at my saved pinterest looks to kind of get an idea of how i want to trim it up, even if i'm just cleaning it up. I usually always just refer to those just to make sure i'm on the right track. I'Ve got really colicky hair, not a good look. I have to say: oh boy, okay, it's nothing! Fancy! I'M telling you guys i'm! This is completely learn, as you go impromptu hope for the best technique, as i like to call it. This is my start off point. Is the middle um, let's kind of go from there, so i just cut right at an angle, so i don't have like a really blunt cut, just using the very tip there we go. That'S that i don't want to cut off too much. The reason why i kind of pull really tight is because i've got like the colicky hair, where my hair will kind of curl um. So if i don't do that, then the length gets thrown off and i just move to the next section. But i keep a piece from the previous section as kind of my marker gosh, i miss my hairstylist so much so that's kind of actually matched up both sides, because i think this side was longer than this side. It'S already right there. I don't even know if i have to cut this side, i'm trying to grow out a lot of this, so i'm not really going to cut into any of the layers. It is not a fancy process like i said, let's just figure it out as you go. It'S just hair always grows back, hey sweets, hi. How are you i'm cutting? How am i doing i'm doing great? How are you doing that's good? I just need to kind of trim up my little sideburns here. Did you need to use this? I did. I already used it, but why did you use it without any of these attachments? On? Oh, i had the attachments on. I used the attachments i just put them away already: yeah cool yeah how'd. You get the shaver attachment onto the shaver. In fact, i think we're there. I think we got it okay, so now i feel like i'm in a good place with it, so i'm going to take a shower and wash my hair and then we'll kind of see where we're at after that, okay, so washed, my hair, all nice and clean. So sometimes i will actually just let my hair air dry, because i i actually like the natural way that it dries because i feel like it gives it more interest like a little bit more of a natural interest. I guess, but sometimes especially like when i'm trimming. My hair i'll i'll blow dry it or, if there's like a really specific look, i'm going for i'll blow dry, my hair, so a lot of times. If i'm doing the bowl cut sort of look where everything's coming forward, i will do the blow dryer a lot of times so before i'm gon na blow dry. I do like to add in if i want to add volume which my hair kind of needs it. It'S pretty flat, so i use this chlorine um volume leave-in spray, and it is specifically for fine and limp hair, which is definitely my hair. It'S limp! So it's with flax, fiber. That sounds good good buzzword there um, but yeah. It'S got just really good clean ingredients. I love using this and it's super effective, almost too effective at times at uh, keeping that volume in the hair um, so you can actually use it in dry, hair or in wet hair. So yeah, i usually just spray a little bit in there just to right at the root, so just kind of start off with that. So when i'm blow drying my hair, i don't get super fancy with it because i like it to be, i like it to look kind of, have some messiness to it. I don't like it to be all super straight and whoa whoa wow girl. I don't like it to be all uniform, i kind of like to have some texture and messiness in there, so i just kind of just kind of go for it and i just keep it in the direction that i want it to go. So let's go [ Applause, ], okay, so there we go so once it's dry, i just kind of check to make sure everything's. You know neat and tidy and still looks good once it's dry, because obviously things always look different when they're dry. So just at first glance. I can definitely see that it's pretty much for the most part where i wanted it to be. It'S pretty. Even the nice thing for me is that i don't really have to be super technical and specific. I normally have a really messy type look with my hair um, so that's kind of nice for me, is it's a little bit more forgiving with the technicalities of lengths and trim and all that kind of stuff, i'm happy with where it's at um. So now before i style it, i'm gon na do my makeup. I always do my makeup. First, before i stay on my hair, i don't know it's just my thing, so i don't know if people do it differently, yes, and i think today i'm going to keep it in the bowl, because it's looking really nice, it's having like a really nice like well. What do you call like curl under like already looking good all right? So let's do the makeup. Makeup'S done all right, so oh girl, eyebrow game is strong today, all right, so, let's get into it. One of my favorite things i just ran out of um is the evo haze powder and it is magical. It is this powder that basically volumizes and texturizes, so i'm somebody that hates to have clean hair. I just feel like it's such a nightmare to style, and i go a really long time before washing my hair, i own days before washing my hair again. This powder is basically a way to speed up the process of getting my hair to the dirty point, but i just ran out of it. But it's okay, because normally when i style my hair in this kind of bowl, cut style, um, sort of short bob eye or pixie bob or whatever you want to call it, i don't like it as much because it does give a lot of volume. A lot of texture, normally, if i'm using that stuff, i won't put the chlorine um volumizing gel or whatever you call the leave-in spray. I won't put this in um, so tell you what this lighting is horrendous, so the thing i always always always use is my dabeness hair wax. This is the this is a strong molding clay. It'S for a firm matte finish, so there is a more medium holding molding clay uh with the matte finish as well, which i think i might try next time and then i also have um the it's for texture and reworkable. Looks this one's a little bit more flexible, but it doesn't give as much of like a yummy texture as this one does so. This is like my go. Go go to i've been using this for years. It is a little bit spendy, but it goes such a long ways like i maybe buy one per year, if that's sometimes probably even longer, they just last a really long time. So it's just like a molding clay and i just kind of get some on my finger, an idea. You want to rub it into your um hands or your fingers until it kind of goes transparent goes clear because otherwise it gets all. So you just want it to be clear and then i just kind of go into my roots first and kind of just work it in to again kind of dirty up my hair and just add some texture to my hair. Okay. Let'S add a little bit more to the roots and then i just kind of start to work it through the rest of my hair and just kind of get it in there to add again that pieciness that um that texture to start, you know giving it a Bit of dimension, so, as you can see now, it's kind of making my layers stand out a bit more, which i love. I will say it does kind of leave a little bit of residue, so you just have to be okay with i'll. Just add a tiny bit more bring home that texture, what no signs of clean hair here now, okay - and that is - that - is pretty much it you guys for this kind of look. This is all i really do. The one thing i will say i don't like about this hairstyle as much as the more like messed up, pixie that i do, which is where i'd literally just do this. That'S all i'm doing when i do the more pushback look. I just push back my hair. That'S ultimately, what i'm doing for this? For that look, when you guys see me do that, so what i love about this is, i can genuinely wake up, put some hair product in my hair and call it a day uh, whereas this hairstyle, when i wake up, looks kind of like that, and so It'S always got to be re-situated, and sometimes it's i've got to like get it wet again and uh re-rework it um to get it this. This look but yeah. So that's pretty much it. I know i i wish i could say it was fancier than it is, but that's pretty much it straightforward, so i will make sure to link everything down below that i used here today. I would say if all else fails, if you want to get some product, davines is the way to go. This molding clay is magical yeah. This can just be used in so many different ways. It'S super multi-purpose i feel like so, if you're gon na get anything, this is the way to go. Sometimes i will use a straightener um, but it's looking like the blow dryer did a real good job of getting it to where i wanted it so yeah. Sometimes i will bring in a straightener to just basically straighten out the tips um, especially if i'm doing like the push back like messy pixie hair. Look, that's it you guys. What do you think yeah? It works right, so definitely comment below. If you have any questions. Okay, all right, you guys there we have it. That is how i cut my own hair yeah, pretty simple, pretty straightforward, easy peasy, i told you i was kind of ruined, ruining the mystery, so yeah comment below and let me know what you think. Let me know if you have any tips for self cutting your hair um, but yeah. If you did like today's episode, you know what to do. Give me that thumbs up comment below share with your friends and subscribe for future weekly episodes. All right, you guys have a wonderful fabulous rest of your day. Stay healthy, stay, safe love and support each other, and we will definitely be chatting soon bye. You

Margaret Ames: I started the pandemic with a short bob with blonde highlights. I was trimming it, then got bold and kept cutting my hair super short! I kept it that way by myself with one hairdresser visit in August when salons briefly opened. I’m not rocking my natural salt and pepper hair color and keeping it short! I wish I’d found this video sooner - I love your confidence! Your hair looks wonderful!

Cara Corey: Love it!! My husband has become my hair cutter during the pandemic because, yes, it is just hair — it’s a renewable resource

Ezgi Akgüloğlu: Been waiting for this one! Great to see that I'm not alone in avoiding the hair salons still. My family had a real laugh when I shaved my head because I couldn't take how over-grown my pixie was and I couldn't get it cut. This video will be great for once my buzzcut grows, thank you :)

KK Kouzmanoff: So great! Trying to create the bowl style with my undercut as I watch! Never had the nerve to shave my sides as I’ve had more than my share of self-inflicted hair disasters, but maybe a little courage is in order. Thanks so much!

Stacey Trewart: Love this Emily!! Great job ... I cut my own short hair during lockdown too although not quite as professionally as you did .... can’t wait for this week though as hairdressers open in the UK ❤️❤️❤️

Denise Younger: I did the same thing. I was letting the grey come in! I never thought I would do that even though I’m 64 and love a nice haircut/colour. I took the clippers and cut short and now I use a razor cutting tool to take weight out and add layers . I love my grey hair. Looks great Love video

Bonnie Paynter: The thingy on the clippers that determines the length is called a “guard”. You have a great hairline in the back! Good job Emily — from a 38 year veteran hairstylist

Kathy Gann: When “What Not To Wear” first came out, women had a fit about stylists cutting their hair. I could never understand it. They had excellent people helping make them look good, and they were nominated because they were a mess, and if you don’t like it, it will always grow out!

Lindsey Mengelkoch: Love this!! People always get embarrassed in my chair when they have done some self cutting. To be truthful most of them are not too bad. If it looks good and styles good...it gets you by until you can get into the salon, what's the big deal!?! These are excellent tips for keeping up with short hair! One thing, if you feel like you still have lines in between guards, use the extender arm on the side. It brings the length in between the 2 guard lengths.

spyduhgirl: Hello! I searched for DIY Pixie, watched the very start of this video when you mentioned you'd done a buzz cut, paused it, watched your buzz cut video and went and shaved off my hair I love it! Thank you for the inspo. Now I'm watching how I'll trim it as it grows out

Cheryl Sykes: I’ve worn some version of a pixie, from super short to a longer “bowl” for over 20 years. I agree with you that for me, my hair is my primary accessory. Earrings always, and I’m ready for the day.

SaKe': Hi Emily, I love your edgy look. I decided to micro loc my hair in my 50's, and I LOVE IT! It's edgy but conservative, low maintenance and carefree. I wished I had done it sooner. It also, updates my look.

Ethel Fabulous RedDevil: I've been searching for a long time for help doing my own pixie & I've just cut & styled it following your video. Love, love, LOVE it. Thank you

Elle Roers: So fun to see and also hear the little buddy in the background - he’s so sweet!

Dierdre Marsh: My natural girl! You sure rock your own hair doe! If I was as talented, my hairstylist would be in the back review mirror for sure! Huge money saver for sure! Your a great mom too!

Jennifer: This was a super fun video to watch, thank you! You have given me the idea to ask my stylist if she can cut my hair in an ideal shape to wear dirty vs clean n prepped.

Ana Laura Sanchez: I used to have a beautiful pixie. Then I shaved my head and it felt awesome, but then I let it grow and now i have a long bob and I don`t really feel myself. You are amazing, really inspiring!

Carol Blagg: Always love your hair! Thanks for the vedio on how you cut it......I've been cutting my own hair for about 5 yrs and you've given me some extra tips to try out.

Generation X: I just stumbled on your YouTube channel for the first time today and I have to say, I absolutely adore your style, personality...everything! You really stand out in the best way possible. I instantly subbed Keep up the great content

Amy Harvey: THAT WAS QUICK! Thank you for this awesome tutorial; abso fabu, babe! ❤

Maria Delise: I followed your instructions to use the clipper along the ears and the hairline and it works like a magic trick I went for a different style so I kept the 1" guard on the clipper, but the result is good anyway and it's so easy! Thanks for the advice, I will pin the video in a playlist so I always have a reference

Linda Curtis: Well done! I’ve been cutting my own hair for a few years. Just grew out the color and let my “silver” show!

Shelli Sannes: I think you are reading my mind I literally started shaving the back of my head before lunch today. I have a pink bob which is my outgrown pixie. It is driving me nuts, so I could really use these tips! I see this only dropped 17 hours ago

Sonya Mujeeb: Gawjus! Had a pixie for many years late teens. The best cut! ❤️

Gina: I cut my own hair yesterday. Thank you for your tips. There are very helpful. How often do you trim your hair?

Elle Roers: Super cute and you make it look easy!! You’ve always had a great edgy look and your hair is the cherry on top!!

mylittlesuitcase 1: How have you been posting videos for two years and I've only just found you?! Very inspired to change up my thick shoulder length mop! Thanks for the inspo & keep it coming!

wendy mcaleer: Great share!! You are right on with hair style. Love it! Also...Wonderful your little man is checking up on how you are!

Mol K: I got a bob cut in September with a quarter pixie (from waist length hair). I’m growing out the pixie because I’m not as confident with a razor, so I parted my hair differently. Next haircut for me is definitely going to involve an undercut, my hair is ridiculously thick and has a bit too much volume for my liking. Full pixie is definitely on my bucket list, but I think I’m going to wait until there’s no chance of salons closing because I love the juxtaposition of a masculine haircut with a pastel dye, maybe a more “sorbet” tone if their still trendy in a year or so.

Ayesha Nasir: You’re so gorgeous and totally rock the pixie.. hopefully one day I’m brave enough ..:)

Isabel González: Thanks a lot Emily! It looks so great on you!

sukanya roy: this video was cool! it was fun watching u cut ur own hair! love ur hairstyle!

Sandra Maki: Gorgeous! I have a pixie cut and I was not as successful as you in the effort. Thank goodness my hair salon is open!

Judith Roers: Enjoyed this tutorial, very much. You make it all look so easy. Your little person's voice is adorable.

Casey Young: I have long hair but loved watching this!! Thanks for sharing! Loved the little guy

Barbara Sylvain: You inspired me to get my short hair REALLY cut short, because I want to, not because of anyone else. Be your authentic self and be happy.

Ann McCoy: Lady! Girl! Woman! Love this video! Will have to watch a 2nd time. So far I watched your denim video & this one. Am going to have to watch them all. You have given me sooo many good ideas! W/ makeup too (oh yeah, I watched that one too!) I have never even used a contour but hmmmm…, may try. Uh huh, I know all about over plucked brows that don’t grow back. I naturally had dark, thicker, Ali McGraw brows, now .., well, thks. To over plucking they r not like that now. I like the way u do your eyes & May try liner similar. Now, hair. I too have a pixie but where yours is coarser stands & thicker, mine is baby fine & silky. Just lately have shown Pinterest photos to my stylist for more of a bowl pixie, simply because my hair looks BETTER w/ the thicker(ness) (new word) of bowl cut & not the chipped into layers of pixie (scalp tends to show) love your jeans, blazers, shoes, socks, stripped tees… I’ll buy highly quality unique leather shorter boots/ booties- that my friends wouldn’t be caught dead in… but- that’s my style. Keep the range of videos coming!

Marilyn: The pushed up gives you an instant lift!! My fave

Alice Tsab: Loove your look !!! it's perfect. I had that hair look in the past ....I had a lot of hair looks and colors !!!! But the simple is the best just like your make up

Sailing SoulMate: Invest in some thinning shears. They are game changers for texturizing! Start about 1.5 inches from the tip, cut, then move toward the ends, cut again. You'll love what they do for the piecey look!

mary hershelman: I have been cutting my own hair into a shlob….a shaggy bob….for years. Recently went pixie and absolutely love it. Thanks for the tips. It’ll always grow back….famous last words, eh? My hairdresser/barber died before the pandemic. She was the best…miss her and my mechanic who also died earlier this year. Who’s next? My dentist? Took decades to find those I could trust.

Gina: The around the ear trick is extremely helpful. Thanks for sharing

DutchXfan: We have the same haircut, only yours is slightly longer and my hair color is silvergrey. I might cut it myself from now on. I think it looks doable. Thanks!

Lauren Nguyen: I'm going to order the wax. I'm concerned that it will make my hair gooey and flat because it's so humid in Texas, but I will try it because your hair is fantastic.

Jess Dunn: Wow just found this. Given me ideas for my hair- just a little shorter than yours. Thank you

Brigitta Harris: Fabuloso! ☺️

Gina: It looks like your are using the Wahl Corded Clipper Color Pro. How do you like it? Is it still working beautifully after all these years? Are you still loving it or do you wish you have gotten another model? Thank you for the video. You inspired me to get my own clipper.

Janet Jaken: Emily, How do you cut your crown? Love the style! Janet

Kathye Sargent: Beach Babe dry shampoo spray on and schoosh it through with you fingers works great. I get it at Walmart.❤️❤️

Teresa D. Robinette: Thank you Love it! Can't wait to try Davines

Janet Jaken: Your make up is beautiful! Do a video on that!

Natalie Moreland: Love it!!!

Joan Lockhart-Grace: Love it!

Kathye Sargent: Love it❤️❤️❤️❤️

RAY Whitty: Looks great!

Natasha Zeligs: Ohhh Babeee, you braaave. Gorgeous cut and great styling lessons.

Joseph Lambert: It’s surely amazing.

Paulette Martineau: Great job! And that little curvy bang thing is called a "bevel". :)

Tinnah Kenza: Looking gooood ;-) <3

Tina Henry: What about the hair in the back? You shaved the hair at the base of your skull, but what about the hair above that? Wouldn't it eventually grow over the undercut?

Emma Emma: I agree.. When my hair is boring I feel boring

Andrea Coyte: How long have you had the pixie cut.

MML: I use the right and left taper learn from a you tube as well. Does not look masculine. Thanks for sharing I learned some tips

Connie Smith: Hi. Hello. Howdy. Please consider showing how you do your eye makeup. What products, etc. Thanks again.

Connie Smith: I forgot, also how you do your eyebrows.

Anita Hirst: Love

Kathye Sargent: Beach Babe is texturizing

Kathye Sargent: Shaved head NO
