Hello, hello, you're, watching Caesar boy calm. We are outside Charles Worthington, of course, in the heart of London, I'm gon na be talking to Carolyn Newman. Now she is director of color here at Charles Worthington and she's, going to take us through the most important part of coloring hair. The consultation check this out hello and welcome in watching scissor boy, calm, you're here yet again. So am i my name's Andriana, and this is Carolyn Newman hello. It is great to have you with us. Thank you for joining us. Thank you now. Just in case you don't know, Carolyn Newman is the current director for Charles Worthington has been in this country. It has a leader in the hairdressing profession, for many many is thirty years. Is that right? Well, you know you're starting idea, because you do now we're gon na be going through color. Aren'T we today so Carolyn tell tell me what we're gon na do and obviously that lovely model is here for today. Well, what I wanted to demonstrate with something a little bit different than showing I mean also do techniques and things, but one of the things that is, I think, is my speciality is consultation, because I think if you get the consultation right and you communicate well to Your client once you've done your color and your technique. Your client skips out the door looking and feeling fabulous. So I would be asking grace you know what has she done in the past to her hair? What does she like? What does she dislike and where is she? Where is she now who writes and okay so grace? What have you done in the past, through your hair and well, I had bright, copper, hair. It was previously blonde and dyed it back, copper and then I wanted to go from up the dip dyed. It never sort of Alexa Chung yeah. Of course it was so red. Obviously it's just quite hard to get out. Do you feel more comfortable? Looking like this? Now, with more sort of a more softer result, yeah bit more natural yeah, but this is still not quite natural enough. What I call color personality, especially with hair color. I think you need to make sure the color suit in your personality, your lifestyle. It also has a lot to do with the upkeep of maintenance. So how do you find that out - and I have a little card - that I give my clients and I have six personality, so we have our strong, dramatic woman. If you think of you know, Paris, Hilton, Lady gaga, even someone like Victoria Beckham, because she always goes out with her heels. Always am I yeah I'm when she dresses down. She still got that as a statement. So again there are daring, divas right on dnews. We then have our trendsetter and these. These are the clients that say to you. I like to change my hair. I like to follow fashion again someone like Kate Moss as a translator, even though she doesn't change her hair all the time she changes. Her clothes and yeah hurt her look they're the great client cuz. I don't want something different. Every time they come in and see you as me, not someone who looks good without makeup. They look brilliant in jeans and the t-shirt they like have a bit of colour, but it's a much more softer approach. Some are like, when is Paltrow Cameron Diaz. They look great with their long hair that suits you know not too much color and they are the person that have a very clear look, but it might not suit them and they might be wearing the same eyeshadow they wore in the NGO people who don't know Anything about fashion anything about makeup and hair, trying to explain that to them is very, very hard for them to understand. Then. Obviously, what I'm looking for cried looked at this and said: no, that's not me, then I would show them other mood boards just to ascertain yeah, but I really do think this is more grace except three is actually, I think, one of the key important ones, because It'S all about the diagnosis and when the trainer's hairdressers, we learn a lot about. What'S going to suit the skin tone of the client and what is going to be the right haircut or hairstyle of a shape and color can make an impact on face shape as well. I'M not fascinating because when you first mentioned that I was that I didn't even think of that, because what color can do is, if you want to bring out something you can actually shadow around the face as more their color. What you do around the face you can actually work. I'M looking for is what makes a client right. Okay, I'm kind of cold water. We look for healthy, bringing out the eyes the wrong color, and sometimes someone can make them look more shadows under the eyes. Yeah and hey, but with grace we can see under here, this isn't bringing out her best features. It'S not as flattering where. If I go to our medium warm shades, it actually does bring out, and actually she looks all in one. That'S what you want you want. It to all blend, so that's our third step. So we've understand the hair history. We'Ve understood what personality she is. We now know what color suit her and then what we need to look at is what I call color placement. Color can really bring out and make our, I think, great haircut. It'S truly fabulous hair. So we always look at the focal point of the haircut color choice, but that's like the summary yeah, so I would say to grace bright, so we've have to change your hair spending a little bit warm at the moment and you'd like be a bit more lighter. We really bring out the length and really bring out the fringe and her hair and the colors I'm going to use a more golden blonde yeah as well lovely, so is that the whole consultation? That'S amazing.
