The Difference Between Remy and Virgin Hair Plus the Types of Human Hair According to Origin

People who are new to human hair wigs are usually confused about the differences between Remy hair and Virgin hair. Add to that, there are also different types of human hair according to their origin: Indian, Brazilian, Malaysian and Peruvian Hair. With several hair types to choose from, it can be challenging to pick the right one for you. Your questions are about to get answered in this blog.

REMY HAIR VS. VIRGIN HAIR

The main difference between these two types of hair is whether they have been processed or not.

Remy Hair:
Because of its high quality and affordability, Remy hair wigs are the most popular human hair wigs on the market.
Remy hair is a term that is different from non-Remy hair. While both of them are made of the hair that’s mixed with different donors’ hair, Remy hair is more expensive and looks more natural because it comes from the scalp where the cuticles flow in the same direction.
Remy hair goes through a chemical process to make sure the hair looks shiny and the cuticle remains preserved. With the cuticles intact, tangling and matting wouldn’t be a problem. They can also be styled naturally. If protected well, Remy hair can last long, even up to a year.

Virgin Hair:
Virgin hair is completely original human hair, like what we are born with. It has never been chemically treated in any way. To be specific, it is the hair that is totally free from perms, bleaches, color treatments, and dyes. They give you a natural smooth appearance with all the cuticles still intact. Unlike Remy which may come from various sources, Virgin hair usually comes from one single donor.
As a result of its all-natural density, Virgin hair does not tend to frizz and has a wonderful natural layered effect. If taken care of properly, Virgin hair can last for more than a year. Because it is untouched, virgin hair is also easier to color and style with heat tools. This is why it is often more expensive than Remy hair.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN REMY HAIR AND VIRGIN HAIR

Though Virgin hair and Remy hair both are natural human hair, there are many differences between them. These are there three major differences:

  1. 1. Remy hair is processed hair; Virgin hair is non-chemical processed hair.
  2. 2. The donors of Remy hair used to dye, perm or bleach their hair while the donors of Virgin human hair never used any chemical products.
  3. 3. Remy hair may come from multiple donors. Virgin hair comes from one donor.

Which one is better? Put simply, Remy hair and Virgin hair are both high-quality, but your budget, style preference, and how often and how long you want to use them should help you pick the right hair type.

Our Virgin hair human wigs use 100% virgin hair. The original hair color is natural black, so if you order your wig with a darker or a bright color, we will further process your wig by dyeing or bleaching.

If you’d like to dye or bleach your wig at home after purchasing, we highly recommend seeking professional help from a hairstylist.

WHAT ARE INDIAN, BRAZILIAN, MALAYSIAN AND PERUVIAN HAIR?

Indian, Brazilian, Malaysian and Peruvian Hair are four popular textures, and they can be Remy hair or Virgin hair. Usually, we differentiate them by region of their origins.

There are certainly differences between them, but it is hard to distinguish only from the appearance. After using a couple of weeks, the differences will be noticeable.

Indian hair:
Indian hair is airy, light and stretchy and can easily be styled. Indian hair usually has natural straight and natural wavy strands. If you are looking for a natural wavy style, then this is the hair for you.

Brazilian hair:
Brazilian hair is especially soft, relatively thick and very durable. For this reason, the hair is suited to any style because of its natural density. If you are looking for a wig that can be styled many times without becoming heavy and complex, then this is suitable for you.

Malaysian hair:
Malaysian hair is very shiny at first, but after 2 or 3 washes, the shine will look more natural. It has a natural black and straight appearance and its curls can last for a whole day. If you are looking for a wig with volume and thickness, Malaysian hair is your best choice.

Peruvian hair:
Peruvian hair is a little coarser and thicker in texture than Malaysian or Brazilian hair. But it is lightweight, free-flowing and luxurious. Even when the hair isn’t maintained properly, it can be manageable. If you are looking for a beautiful straight or short style, Peruvian hair is great for you.
