Hey guys, i am dr shireen idris, welcome to my youtube channel happy saturday. It is actually thursday night. 11. 30 p.m. Right now - and i just finished um a long week at work - and i am going to wash my hair tomorrow morning - so i figured i would walk you guys through my hair care routine, given that it has been a request that has come up time and time Again and so no time better than the present to walk you all through it um full disclosure. This is my hair. There are no extensions in this hair. I cut my hair twice in the past year, which is crazy once i did it myself. The second time was back in september when i finally had the courage to make it to the hairdresser um, and i haven't really cut it since so this is a really long. This is really long for me. I did experience hair loss after having had coved and even last march, my hair shed suddenly and in the past year. So last summer i did treatments for myself with prp, which one day i will talk to you guys more in depth. But it is a treatment in the practice that we do when you take your own blood and we use the plasma to inject into your scalp to help stimulate hair growth. And it is something that has definitely helped me because i lost a lot right here. That being said, i continue to maintain the things i do to help with my hair growth, because it was a very traumatizing experience to see like balls of hair and clumps fall out. So, starting with how often do i wash my hair, i would say my hair is at its healthiest when i wash it approximately two to three times a week depending on my level of activity. Since i personally have copic myself, i don't work out as much anymore at all. Actually, it's been very very hard for me to get back into the routine of working out. I get extremely short of breath and so i'm not working out or sweating as much at all, hopefully very soon i will be starting with now the brushes. So after i did the um reaction video, i received a package which i thought was funny from harry josh. Um the same brush irina uses - this is probably the closest we will ever get to one another, and then i basically have been uh playing with this. It is a bristle brush that has boar bristles and i guess synthetic bristles as well. Personally, my brush of choice is a um, sheila's dots. I will link these below everything i'm going to talk about. I will link below, but it's erased. I think it's called the sheila's dots brush and it has metal brushes on them. Now i started using this over the summer because, quite frankly, it gives your scalp a massage when you do it and i felt like it helped the circulation of my scalp. When i was losing hair and i loved it. I also felt that it was the brush that pulled the least when you are detangling, so it didn't really like pull on your hair and although there are still hairs on the brush right, not that much um, it doesn't really break your hair at all. So i really do like this particular brush the day before i wash my hair the night before, because i shower in the morning. I will use products in my hair to allow the products to fully absorb, because i don't use these so much when i don't wash my hair, because i do feel that it adds build up and it makes my hair greasier faster. So first things first is i use men's rogaine. Five percent minoxidil, i don't buy the women's rogaine because of the pink tax, which is very real. The women's rogaine is less it's around 2 or 2.5. I can't remember off the top of my head and it is also much more expensive. I will put the prices here or here by the toilet because quite frankly, you're throwing your money down the toilet, and i did not anticipate that the toilet would be right there, but it is um so yeah. I use the men's rogaine because if it's good enough for a man, it's good enough for me where the injections - and this has made the biggest difference for me - um more so than the supplements which i used to take neutral pool. I'M just not good. With the pills, there are too many pills, so i put it in here and i want to show you i massage it in my scalp to really get it in, and i will maybe, if my husband comes up, i will secretly take them when he does it To show you what not to do so, this is how i put it in there and then i brush it through then i'll put my hair in a ponytail yeah. I sleep with a ponytail. I then, the night before i wash my hair, we'll do a hair mask, and i love this one by christoph robert robin. It'S a french brand christopher but kristoff robin creme du jour, which is the obwa du somtad um. It smells like a man's cologne, but i love it. I used to wear men's cologne. I just i love the scent and it is a hair cream now here they recommend to use it daily. I find it to be quite heavy. I also use quite a lot on purpose because it helps to minimize the breakage as well as to prevent split ends from forming. So i do this the night before i wash my hair. I put a lot of this in my ponytail, where it almost looks like i have a sleek hairstyle um intentionally, but it's really not so yeah i mean it does give the the hair some sort of um build, and what this is really rich in is glycerin, Which is an ingredient that i love for skin care as well, we'll talk about it, we'll do a video about blistering some other time, um again. This is why i like the metal brush bristles, because it really does help it comb through rather than the borah bristles, and sometimes this was like back in last april, when i was really losing a lot of hair before the injections. This is latisse okay, which is the madoprost. It'S prescription, it's a glaucoma eye medication. I do use it now to try to help grow, my eyebrow hair and what i do, which is a little bit of it's expensive. I recognize this, but if you are in a bad place with hair loss because of that mental struggle, honestly it's worth it. You know. I put two drops literally two drops in the worst area, which is here and like here, and i massage it in because i don't want to waste a lot of it. I put literally two drops and that's that so that is my nighttime hair care routine. Before i go to sleep - and i will show you guys my hair care routine tomorrow morning, when i wake up, i, when i wash it and what i use to style it, but yeah i'll see you guys in the morning good morning, i'm very lucky this morning, Because it's my husband's turn to do school drop off, so i have the luxury of going through this with you um. Basically, i wake up. I actually last night i used this hair tie because it was sitting on my counter. It'S actually my daughter's hair tie - and i forgot to mention - usually i use a silk scrunchies that it doesn't pull so much on my hair um, but last night i was so tired - and this was just sitting here - that i used this one, but i usually tend To use more silk scrunchies, if i'm not a silk scratcher than any sort of cotton scrunchie i find, is a little bit softer than something like this um, but yeah, that's just a sort of an fyi. So i do what i did last night literally the night before i wash my hair now i'm gon na jump in the shower and i use a shampoo. I use a conditioner and then, when i come out, i will show you guys how i what i do and what i used to style, though i don't have that much of a hairstyle um. I wash my hair with this. It does give a very nice thickening effect, and i use this one, so i use the shampoo by grande hair. I have tried literally a ton of different shampoos that get sent to me um from all of them, and this one has had the nicest thickening effect - and i like this one so far for the hair. It'S loaded with headphones to help strengthen your hair, but also it gives a good, scalp, massage and stop exfoliating effect. I then put a thick amount of conditioner. I can't show you guys from the bottom part of my tips. I did not like the one by grande hair because i didn't think it helped to detangle as well. So then i recently discovered two that i really like this one is by l'oreal it's a thickening conditioner, so i put it on the tip one by fikkai. The blue one i'll show these guys the mask treatment mask. Sometimes i use that one. So i kind of alternate because i have all of them in my shower, but i use the conditioner i let it sit for like 2-3 minutes i'll shower the rest of my body and then i will wash it off. So that was a dangerous experience in the shower. I need to go back and make sure that there was um nothing in that video number two. I wash my hair with the grande hair shampoo, because i has i received it: full disclosure as a gift approximately a month ago from the company i mean i get a lot of products every month every week every day and that one was particularly a gift, because I don't think i would have ever looked at that bottle. Let me get it and buy it. Yeah, though i got this as a gift. The bottle itself would have never made me shout. Let me buy this, it doesn't seem very inspiring, but it is a peptide shampoo that helps with detoxifying and exfoliating the scalp, but i think what i've noticed the most with this guy and i've been using it for the past couple of weeks to three weeks. Maybe is that it gives off the most instantaneous effect of volumized hair. I didn't love the conditioner because i didn't feel like it detangled as well, and then i felt like post shower. I was pulling through my hair and i was worried about breakage, so i actually went back to things that i've used in the past, which was this one, the l'oreal everstrong, which is a thickening conditioner. It'S nice, it's not the best, but it just happens to be in my shower and i just picked the two from my shower that i thought have worked the best for me at least um and then fikai um. The treatment mask uh one day, i'll go through all the products. In my shower. We can do a episode of what i've loved, but i haven't really loved, but that's not the point of this one. Okay, so now that my hair is done, i'm showered, i want to do my skincare routine my morning, skincare routine, my towels falling and then i am going to get dressed and when i get dressed i'll come back and go through my hair care routine. I try to let my hair dry as much as possible before i go and brush it and then dry it with the hair dryer. So i will let you guys follow me along for the ride, so i've gotten dressed uh. This is a very lightweight sweater that i'm wearing so don't freak out that i'm using this, it's really not heavy at all. Usually i probably use much less, but i think i've showed you guys enough of my skin. For today my hair is much drier, um. What i will do and again i only use this product the night before i wash my hair and literally the day after, like the day of washing my hair right after washing my hair. So i'll put a lot of this on the tips of my hair, because i really am trying to protect my hair from hair breakage and from split ends, and then i lock it in with a couple very little drops of this. So again, i'll use like a nice amount and i'll put this one through my tips of my hair. What i do, then, is i hold my ponytail and i start from the bottom and work my way up what i do, because my hair is wet and i'm going to dry it. I will spray the speed dry at the roots of the hair. This is from color wow, so once i have sprayed the color while speed dry i'll, put a little bit of a lifting spray, a little volumizing spray on wet hair at the roots, very just to kind of help, give a little bit more volume, because i'm telling You guys, i know it doesn't show so much today. I recognize that because i've been working on it, but when you lose hair, particularly from the front of your hair line, which is where i lost it, you get very insecure about your scalp showing through and so anything that gives volume. For me, even though my hair is not like a volume queen, it psychologically helps me feel better about myself so and then i think from a styling perspective as well. Okay, so anyway, i put some of this - the rita hazan, lifting spray on finally i'll put a tiny drop of the oil on the tips i use on the roots and i scrunch it through, and then i dry my hair dryer. I am obsessed with so my mom bought this for me from amazon, and i thought what is this, but i love it. It'S a hair dryer by corn me it's a brush, hair dryer and it just cuts my time in half, because i don't i've never been good at holding a brush and doing this and then drying and my arms are just not strong enough so and ta-da. That'S it took me eight minutes, i think, to dry my hair ready to go and start my day, so that is my hair care routine. When i wash my hair, i take care of it a little bit before and a little bit after the wash and ta-da. Probably the first day will leave my hair down second day. I might do a sort of half up half down, depending on the status of my hair third day's, usually up in a ponytail and that's how i live my life. So i hope you guys enjoyed this hair care routine. I am dr shereen idris subscribe like um and please follow along um. Our pillow talk, durham journey. I do this on instagram several times a week, i'm occasionally on tik tok and i'm here every saturday at 10 a.m and i'll see you guys next week have a great day my birthday's face. Please no wrong stuff up, and then he washes his face.

Do not cum for me: First time I'm seeing somebody especially a dermatologist not shying away from showing hairloss and how they are treating it :)

ManUtdForever: You are such a light in the YouTube skincare community. So open, honest, and unbelievably smart.

Kate Forster: I had success with Minoxidil as well as cortisone injections for alopecia areata. Hair loss is traumatic and after being told by several dr’s that it’s just cosmetic, not a big deal, etc, it’s really nice to hear you acknowledge this. Thank you.

Ishanee Chauhan: The haircare Gods have finally answered prayers. ✨ Thank you so much for being so upfront with this Dr Idriss. We stan a knowledgable Queen.

C Brownes: Thank you so much for discussing this topic ! (I was actually one of the followers who requested this topic). Have been struggling with hair loss for years. It’s caused many tears, frustration and stress. So first, sorry you also had this stressful experience and I’m happy that it’s getting better! I actually recently discovered PRP exists and looked into scheduling an appointed yesterday! Would love to hear more about your experience with it. It’s difficult to find information apart from the promotional before and after photos.

Emily Etcetera: I really appreciate that you're always upfront about things like using treatments from your office to treat things. A lot of celebrities will claim that topical products are "all it takes to achieve this healthy glow" when of course they are also getting regular facials and treatments that dramatically effect their skin, which are things that regular people don't always have the money for or access too. It sets realistic standards and I appreciate your honesty. I also really appreciate that you mentioned the pink tax because omg...that thing haunts me every time I have to buy something as simple as underwear!

kim gangte: We need more...haircare, skincare of not just our face but for the whole body. Summer is coming up and i believe a lot of us suffer from prickly heat or whatever the heat causes.

L R: This is so helpful. I was sick around this time last year, but couldn’t access a Covid test, and had a ton of hair loss 3 months later, and have also struggled a lot with not being able to breathe when working out. It’s so nice to hear these tips from a dermatologist and know I’m not alone

Mary: My hair is precious to me, but every time I stress out, it results in hairloss in 2-3 months (thanks to your other vids on hair I now know WHY doest it happen in exactly that period of time). So over the years there has been lots of tears over lumps of hair falling out and scalp showing more than it used to. I finally found a trichologist who helped me with the right routine, but seeing you acknowledge hairloss as something that results in mental health problems was so important. Thank you so much for all of your videos and this one in particular!

sirtsupirtsu: Thanks for the video! I have actually one really good tip to share for hair drying :D Take your husbands T-shirt (should be bigger in size) and use that as hair wrap. I found that big heavy towels kept tugging on my hair, especially the front of head. I can notice the same happening here in the video. It is heavy, so it tends to slip backwards, tugging the hair along with it. Using the T-shirt wrap - love that. You basically put your head in from the body opening and then fold it back and make a knot in front of head with T-shirt sleeves. It works sooo well and absorbs the liquid much faster + it is light, so not tugging on hair.

Benedict Ash: This is really helpful. As a boy with long hair who really doesn’t want to have to deal with hair loss there isn’t that much accessible material online about hair loss that everyone can easily understand. This was brilliant

Sharon Pawlak: I've always had thin and fine hair, but since having had COVID last year I've also lost a lot of it in the same area that you did! I'm placing orders today for some of these products to help. Thanks for sharing your experience and routine!

Cat Sasser: So glad you shared this! I’ve always had fine/thin hair and then I lost a ton of it after Covid and I’ve had the hardest time with it. This is super helpful. Thank you!❤️

miss krystle: I now have LOTS of baby hair since my first PRP! Thank you for this!! ♥️

Myrto Stavrikkou: This is so so useful and thank you so much for the transparency! I'm 23 and recently lost almost 50-60% of my hair when I went off my hormonal birth control pill and also started oral isotretinoin (accutane) treatment. Honestly the accutane transformed both my skin and my mental health but I have to say the hair loss was tough. In hindsight I wish someone would advise me not to go off the pill at the same time; it was a big shock to my body which triggered the hair loss. Thank you so much for the tips and it's nice to see someone understand how hard it can be when you're losing hair

Vo Jaro: Thank you for all the recommendations. I don’t have a hair loss from the root problem, but rather a bad breakage problem. It sounds like some of your suggestions may help. I appreciate you sharing what’s worked for your hair. Your hair looks great, so you’re a good example for the products you suggested.

Gabby Scott: I love this video!!! Thank you for the info :) I would love to hear more about your covid hair loss journey (how long did it last, when did your hair go back to normal?). You are the best!!!!

Marissa Leong: Super super super appreciative of this! I’m in an intense grad program right now and the stress has caused me to lose hair. I’ve been trying to find products that actually work with good ingredients/concentrations. I’ve definitely changed a lot of my hair care habits to reduce breakage but I’m really going to use some of these products and add some of the steps in my hair care routine. Thank you so much for all the tips/tricks and knowledge you’re putting out here. Also I’m in love with your pajamas, where did you get them???

Denise Ottie: In December I started using my husband's Rogaine as part of night routine. I am so happy with results. For me, new hair growth response was relatively quick. Hair on top of scalp and receding temple is filling in nicely. Using just at night keeps hair pretty during the day.

Ruth Cuzan: Thank you for normalizing such a taboo topic for so many. Love your transparency!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Maryam Firouzabadi: Hi Shereen, you are beautiful inside and out! Thanks for all the helpful tips and amazing videos. I've been following your tips for my skincare routine and what a transformation! Can you please do a video on PNP or other procedures that work for hair loss? I'm in my early forties and have been suffering from hair loss in the front of my scalp ( exactly like you). Thank you!!!

brigette ann: Love this!!! I would love a detailed video on PRP for hair loss one day. Thanks for always being so transparent and thorough!!!

Carolina Godinho Rosa Szabadkai: Thank you so much for this video! I had covid in march and I had lost a lot of hair... It's great to hear from you what more I can do! Thank you thank you!!!!

america rocks: Thank you so much for this video! Dr. Idriss, would you address some questions about the rogaine? Specifically, do you plan on using it forever (as suggested)? Did it increase hairgrowth on face or anywhere else on the body? How often do you put it on? Did you have the initial shed and, if so, for how long? Does it "travel" to the front of your face? Should we be concerned when washing the hair (the rogaine traveling down the body)? Silly question. :-) Many thanks for your transparency - very much appreciated!!!!

Natalie M.: Omg, how did I miss this video? First of all, thank you for being so transparent and real about your hair loss. I was recently diagnosed with LPP and it’s hitting me hard. My derm thinks that I came to him at the end. What I did not share was that I changed my diet, removed stress or try hard to and I have done 1 treatment of LPP and I also do light. I believe one or both or everything is helping. Some of my front and temple will not grow back bc it’s scarred. And yes, wearing a ponytail now I tend to be self conscious. Thank goodness I had a ton of hair to begin with, so it still looks plentiful, but I know it’s not the same. I did try rogaine before, but stopped. I like how you use it and will try again along with all that I am already doing. Thanks again Dr Idriss! It was funny seeing your hubby apply his rogaine, maybe you should tell him he can grow hair in places he doesn’t want if he continues.

meena19: Thank you so much for making this video. I am experiencing hair loss right now after having covid and it feels good to know that others are/have gone through the same thing. It is very traumatizing and I feel so seen. Thank you <3

Dra. Susana Kury: Loved your video! Thanks for being so honest. I have been experiencing hair loss as well and I totally understand you. I have one quick question: do you have to use Rogain for ever or can you wean it off after 2-3 months (for diagnosed COVID hair loss/telogen effluvium)? Thanks for your input!!!!

Rene Martz: Thank you so much for sharing! 2020 wrecked havoc on my hair and I lost so much hair. I'm pretty sure it was stress, but now the too of my hair is so thin. Going to try some of these products for sure. I'm also looking into PRP treatments now. Would love a video on it if you haven't already filmed one. Thank you! ❤

Dave Redman: This is Karla (not Dave) I just wanted to tell you that you are an amazing person for sharing all of your medical knowledge with us. Thank you so much! It’s because of you that I started to use sunscreen at this stage of my life (63). Better late than never I guess. I have learned so much from your straight forward down to earth explanations so again, thank you!

Giselle Reyes: I tend to stay away from 10+ minute videos, especially if I have never seen a video from that creator; but something about you made me stay. You are so calm and explain things very well, and are not shy to show your morning face. I'm definitely subscribing.

Nevra Elisavet A: Dr Shereene İdriss, could you do a update on your hair loss and hair loss routine? Looking back what products worked and what made it worse? Thanks a lot. NHEBBEK. ❤️

S N: I found I started losing my hair as it gets to a certain length -- beyond a few inches below the shoulder it just drops out and I notice balding. I was very worried at first, started supplementing like crazy etc, but in the end opted for short hair and there ceased to be a problem.

Natallia Chaiko: Thank you to Harper's Bazaar for bringing this channel in my feed! I haven't taken care about my skin and hair the way I should have, but recently I began thinking about it. Now I am on way to learn about how to do everything correctly. I already watched a few of Dr. Idriss's videos and I already learned a lot! Thank you so much for doing this! P.S. I love the hairdryer! I need it for myself! :)

Evelyn Gonzales: I had covid in early February and noticed my hair began shedding in about mid March. I have always colored my gray roots about every 4 weeks but don’t know if I should continue this while going through the shedding phase or if it’s best to wait till it stops. What are your thoughts? Thank you so much for videos.

Sonya Maali: You are the best of the best! Everyone loves you and your advice. Thank you for always being so raw and honest Hair loss is one of the hottest topics these days. We are all experiencing it in some way. Loves the video and tips

Bryn Rianne: How long were you shedding hair for? And how do you recommend to cope with it emotionally? As a dermatologist, do you find this experience has given you more empathy for hair loss patients?

angel👼: I needed this omg. I'm 18, been in stress for 2 years already and shedding hair. love your videos!!

Erin Nicole Franco: Thanks for this! I’ve subsequently had more are loss after each pregnancy, but my hair is thick, thick, thick so it only bothered me after the fourth. I was wondering about the scrunchie during the night routine.

Jen MG: I love how you keep your videos so real. As a mom of little ones I appreciate and relate to you so much! Love your videos i’m learning so much.

Yve B: Thank you, thank you! I have the same hair loss situation as you seem to and I wasn’t sure what all I could do to help but now I have some good info! Thank you

Victoria Haines: I've lost so much hair since I had Covid last March. A few months after I developed Pityriasis Rosea which lasted for for 6 months. I have ordered some of the things you suggested for hair loss.

Celeste Roberts: Thank you for the video. I got very sick last December. I tested negative for covid but sometimes I think the test must have been wrong. It took months to regain my energy. And I’m also losing a lot of hair. To top of off I had surgery a couple months ago. I’m going to try some of these things.

Arianna Kane: Thank You! Currently in chemo but once done going to try this routine ❤️❤️

Asia Ross: Hi, Doc! From what I've read, the hair loss post-Covid is due to telogen effluvium and is supposed to be temporary. As such, will you be stopping your minoxidil routine at some point?

Natalie: This was so helpful! I love your approach and advice on this topic. Can you do a video on how to resolve body acne? On top of the all the stress I’ve experienced in 2020, including hair loss, I have also broken out all over my chest and back for the first time in my life and am still dealing with this. Any advice would be helpful!

Luis G: Yay for normalizing hair loss and it's treatment!

Heather Dorsey: Thank you for being so real and transparent. I am losing hair due to menopause and I found this video very helpful.

Adrienne S: Great info! Colleen Rothchilds restorative mask (which I use as a conditioner) is amazing. I’ve also heard it’s best to brush out dry hair starting at ends and work way up to scalp to be kinder to hair strands

Teddy BB: Thank you so much for this video. This has been such a heartbreaking and shameful thing for me, and this helps so much

Hang Nguyen: I understand the pain and embarrassment 10000% good luck on your hair recovery journey ❤️

wodkeneldoldk sldkkdleldld: Hi!!! I love your videos and really appreciate them...they’ve saved my skin! Could you please do a video on skin care for the body? Preferably one mentioning some of your favorite products like body washes, body moisturizers, etc and how to get rid of body acne. Thanks! ❤️

swaroopa rajpurohit: I know its cause its your area of specialization but still i love how knowledgeable you are about the craft of skin care and hair care and my heart goes out to you after hearing about your hair loss.. I too had a similar experience post Covid and after lamenting for some time I decided to do something about it. Watching your routine is part of it. But I say this from a place of concern.. please dont pull your hair when they're still wet.. that's just going aggravate your roots.. maybe I'm wrong(do correct me if I am, since I'm sure you probably know more) but its something I learned not to do over time when I observed it was becoming detrimental to my roots. Anyways, please keep sharing.. we get to learn a lot from you :)

Nikki Kelder: Hi Dr. Idriss! I love your videos, I wake up on Saturdays ready to watch them! Can you do a video on products and treatments specifically for reducing physical (ice pick/rolling/boxcar) acne scars? Thank you!! <3

Ishika Sachdeva: Dr Shireen- you are literally the most real no bs doctor I’ve ever come across and such a great person you’re a blessing to YouTube we love you

Vanessa B.: Thank you for this! I remember you talking about hair loss on PTD but forgot all you said so now I saved this video!!

Anna Louise: Can you use rogaine when your hair is damp before hair drying? I recently experienced hair loss as a result of depression during the pandemic and just bought myself a bottle and redoing my whole haircare routine because of it. Thanks for your enjoyable educational content Shereene!

bleighwal: This woman is literally in the shower for us y’all!!! ❤️❤️❤️

aroundtheclouds1: Thanks for sharing. No one I know is sharing their experience with covid and everyone acts as if it’s no big deal. It has been difficult with zero support, so thank you.

catmama54: My sister always had the thickest hair ever but Covid did cause some hair loss for her but its now coming back. Your hair looks fabulous

Kathryn Anderson: Thank you! I have lost hair at the front of my hairline. I am learning so much from your honest videos.

Supergirl Fitness: Thank you Beauty Doc!!! This was so helpful. Thank you for your time and honesty.

Allie L: Is any of this generally ok to use for trichotillomania re growth? Huge fan, thank you for educating us

Maddie Davis: Can you do a video about hair graying (particularly premature graying), I am starting to read studies about potentially reversing the graying process and would love to hear your opinion on it! Thanks :)

watscrackalacking: i always seem to genuinely laugh out loud when watching you cause you're so hilarious! the rundown of prices for the men & women's rogaine products and the toilet comment was freaking hilarious lmao

Surur Muntasser: I completely understand your feeling regarding hair loss. I suffer with androgenic alopecia and it is difficult sometimes.

Jayne Price: ‍♀️ This was extremely informative and helpful! You mentioned using Nutrafol in the past, but have not kept it in your routine. Do you feel it’s not worth continuing with the other interventions you demonstrated in your video? Also, what do you think of Viviscal? Is one better than the other? TYIA! I subscribed after watching this video and watched a couple of your others. Super informative and you are so approachable! I’m excited to watch more and am happy the YT algorithm gods put you in my feed!☺️

Elizabeth W: Hi Shereene! Thank you so much for making a video about this Anything to keep in mind (perhaps possible side effects) when using Rogaine? I’ve heard about it but don’t know much about it. Again, thank you Ps: followers: do you have experience with rogaine?

Jeanette: Would LOVE to hear how your PRP experience went/is going? Love you and your videos!

Ashley Marie: Wow thank you so much for this video I’ve been losing handfuls of hair a day as of recently going to try these tips and tricks for sure. Thank you

All Things Heart and Home: Thank you!!! I’m having a really difficult time with my hair loss. I wonder if you would answer one question for me, using your Rogaine a few times a week, which is what I think I understand you’re doing, will that make a difference? Thanks a bunch❤️

Harsha Ann: Thank you Dr. Shereene, for this video. Do you ever use hair oils in your routine? I have thin, fine and oily hair (oh yeah lot of luck) and I've always oiled my hair before a wash. It helps treating an itchy scalp as I sweat a lot and my hair gets very greasy. Do you think the oil treatment before a wash could be making my hair greasy and reason I experience a lot of hair loss? Anyone else with the same question?

Esmee Aslan: My hair loss started last April. I went to different doctors. My PCP, Dermatologist, and Endocrinologist. I was told that the problem could be due to the stress or diet but my endocrinologist confirmed that I have Overactive Thyroid. I started to take a pills and my hair loss stopped! Ladies if you are expressing hair loss please check your thyroid

Angel Love: Do you use the rogaine every night and will you plan to taper off it? Thank you so much for your response and for these videos! I am obsessed and grateful for all this great information!

Sarah Cabbara: Thank you so much for shedding light on Covid hair loss! I got Covid in late July of 2021 and a month or so after I thought I was losing my mind because my hair was falling out in globs. Finally a month later or so my cousin who is a hair dresser told me that it’s most likely due to Covid and she’s had a lot of clients experiencing it. It’s been so traumatizing. I can say I’ve lost half my head of hair. It’s Jan of 2022 and I think it’s finally calming down.

Thepowderroomlondon: Absolutely love your videos, your advice and knowledge has really helped me so thank you

I hate you all: And we got a realist over here . I never thought I'll see a dermatologist openly admitting hair fall issues.

Maggie: I have thick dry hair. I experience alot of shedding...not technically hair loss in specific places but it will break. I gifted myself a silk hair bonnet for Christmas and feel like that has helped. My haircare routine is similar to yours...products are different but the same type.

О. М.: To "protect your hair from split ends", do not torture your hair with a comb when it is still wet! And do not rub it so aggressively with a conditioner.

Jenn Leah: As someone with Graves disease (autoimmune disorder that attacks the thyroid), I have dealt with a LOT of excess hair fall, including after surgery & having my hormones regulated. This won't be the case for everyone, of course, but PLEASE if anyone is dealing with excessive shedding, please try cutting out synthetic fragrances and colors, as well as methylchoroisothiazolinone & methylisothiazoline (aka "itchy M' s , which are a specific type of preservative). These are common irritants that can cause irritation & inflammation, which can lead to folliculitis and/or hair loss. I went from losing a handful of hair every wash day to less than a ping pong ball sized amount. It took me YEARS of tracking ingredients to figure out what was causing this. I hope this helps someone

Daniela Aramayo: Hi Shereene, could you also create a video about hair loss after postpartum and suggestions on what to do? Thanks x

bella Diaz: You should get a Dyson hairdryer, it really helped my hair to get healthier and not break it dries so fast it’s amazing! It’s a little pricy but it’s worth it! Love the video! ❤️

Maria Gonçalves: Hi!!! My mom has suffered from hair thining from some years now. She tried some topical treatment that made super thin hair grow even in her ears but when she stopped using it everything fell off. A couple years she went to the dermatologist and she was prescribed some shampoo and topical but it didnt work. Now she stopped taking the pill and some baby hairs are starting to grow so we bought some thickening shampoos ( Vichy dercos stimulant and klorane quinine) but we are still waiting for results. Do you believe in this treatment shampoos??? What treatment would you recommend??? Love you

MarryWine: Yes!! Love that hair dryer. I have the revlon one that looks identical. I think it’s made in mass somewhere and companies just slap their own label on it. Takes me 10 mins to dry my curly hair.

Tina Pastore: I’d love to hear your thoughts about ingrown hair throughout the various parts of the body.

Karen Maxwell: I got a bottle of the Grande Shampoo after watching this video - I like it very much!. Less shedding, and my hair feels fuller. I have been using Grande mascara for several years (and their lash primer) and it's a favorite. Thanks, Doc!

Karen Maxwell: Dr Idriss, thank you! I always learn a little bit, breathe a sigh of relief and validation a little bit (and sometimes have an oops/might want to make a little change moment) from your videos.

K C: I've just been reading a bit about rosemary oil and a study that compared it to 2% minoxidil. Not sure if there's been anything else about it? I've also been looking at the best way to apply to scalp and see a lot of variation in dilution, frequency, etc. Can you post a video about it? Myth or true? Thank you!!!

thamara torres: Hi! I'm experiencing a bit of hair thinning (nothing severe) and I want to promote hair growth. I'm using topical minoxidil around 3/4 times per week on average given that I style my hair and don't wash it everyday. Is monixil still effective even if used a few times a week?

Suzette C.: Hi Shereene! I'm one of your new subscribers. Just wondering if you might also be able to talk about vitamin supplements - specifically targeted to skin. Like, there are various supplements like Vitamin E and Collagen, and is it advisable to take both or all of them at the same time, or would a vitamin C suffice? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this subject though and what would be your recommendations. Thank you.

Niamh O’Reilly: Great video, thanks. I’ve similar issues so this is great. I recommend Leonor Greyl. Best hair products I’ve used. French too The intense mask is a lifesaver when I can’t get to a hairdresser! Heat protection spray is worth it also.

Reemo Akkad: This is so helpful. I have lost so much hair over the years, especially after having kids. I will start using rogaine today.

Wendy H.: Friendly tip for you that I do. Don't wear a heavy towel on your wet head because that puts too much pressure on the front of the scalp. Also I wear a butterfly clip on top of my head to relieve the pressure of the weight of my hair when I sleep or knocking around the house. Love your vids!

Leanna Zagrodzka: I found it really helps to use a microfibre hair wrap or even a microfibre towels instead of a regular towel. It’s not as heavy so there’s less breakage at the forehead, plus it’s supposed to help it dryer better and prevent breakage throughout

ava : Yes please talk about the PRP treatment and steroid treatment for hair loss, that would be super helpful @shereene

Hannah: Informative video as always!! ❤️ Quick question, does rogaine work on all hair types? ( specifically 4C) xx

Sarah Snedecor: I’ve heard and learned that the blow dry brush causes breakage! I used to solely used that to dry my hair after letting it air dry half way and would notice a lot of breakage around my hairline.

Pancakes: I bought that sheila stotts brush after watching this video and I love it. It give such a nice scalp massage :) Planning on buying that hair mask once it comes back in stock on sephora too, because i LOVE the smell of sandalwood <3

DC M: Hello, Dr. Shereene! I love the Korean Brand Ryo Shampoo Hair Loss Care. It also has that instant volumizing effect to the hair every after use. :)

Sam Malik: What would you recommend for someone who had hairloss due to going on accutane and crash dieting? I lost alot of hair due to that and although it has grown back somewhat, my hair is still very thin 2 years post accutane and just isnt going back to how it was before accutane. Will it ever get better? I have really good hair genes from both parents and it makes me so sad to see how thin my hair has gotten and how my scalp is visible!

nadiadncr: That is so helpful I shed a lot lolthank you for addressing this topic once again you are awesome
