Hi guys, my name is katherine. Welcome back to my channel, my hair has been getting a little long. I like it long sort of, but it's also been getting shapeless, but our dear friend brad mondo posted a diy curtain, bangs tutorial and i figured if there was ever a time to cut my own bangs again. This is it so today, i'm going to be following brad mondo's curtain, bangs tutorial. If you're new here i would love to have you subscribe just a little um precursor warning. I don't know i'm no stranger to cutting my own hair. My hair is curly, so it hides mistakes very well exhibit a get it. I am the mistake: if you choose to cut your own bangs at home, i'm not responsible for the outcome. All right. Let'S just get this little video started. Everybody is also cutting their own curtain bangs. It'S actually quite a simple thing to do, and i'm going to show you today, just how you do it. Hopefully it goes well for you and if it doesn't don't blame me, i'm not responsible for the outcome. So, in order to cut yourself some beautiful curtain, bangs you're gon na need a comb. That'S really important one with very close teeth and one with separated teeth like this. So this is the only comb i had. I thought i had one of those little teasing combs. No idea where it is leave it to me to have three different types of developer and no teasing comb in my house last time i used it was like halloween, so i think she's just gotten eaten by the void, guys cheers something that actually cuts your hair, Not kitchen scissors, not craft scissors, not like, like shaving razors, i don't know what you guys are using these days. Okay, these babies um. They are hair shears. They are also three years old. I'M gon na be using also a couple clips, but you can also use a scrunchie. A hair tie, anything like that will be fine, and then you can wet your hair or you can use a spray bottle to wet your hair and those are the items. You'Ll need so, let's get cutting so step. One is gon na be to have wet hair you're gon na want that to not be dry. The next step is to do a middle part. Apparently, if you do a side, part you're, ugly, we're gon na take the bangs back about two or three inches up to you, depending on how thick you want them and depending on how thin your hair is. Naturally, i'm gon na go about two inches back and i'm going to take these down to about the end of her eyebrow, and that is what you're gon na get all of this hair is going to be her sort of bang section all right, so you should Have this little triangle section right here, i kind of feel like i'm cheating, because i do already have bangs they're, just very long grown out like i don't think they actually count as bangs. I think they just count as face framing layers now, which is why we're making them back into bangs. So your hair should look something like this. Now you have one large triangle, because i basically just combed the two triangles together: it's more of a moon shape, but i still think this will work if you're unsure that you took the right amount of hair. I like to just kind of go like this and eyeball it kind of imagine what the bang is gon na look like so we're gon na hold our scissors like this. So the third finger right here, okay, then you're gon na decide what length you want to cut. Normally i like to go right under the cheekbones for the curtain: bangs - that's usually a good height to start with, so i'm gon na start off a little bit longer than that. Maybe right at the nose and i am going to cut across. I typically like my bangs to be long enough that i can like tuck them behind my ear, or at least most of them behind my ear, because i only like long hair as a visual sort of concept. So i actually just keep my hair like completely tied back until i'm in a situation where i could possibly be perceived by somebody else. In which case i will let my hair down um, i'm not gon na get up here and bash it like everybody else, but she need a lot of psychological evaluations. My my bangs don't really curl up that much if you didn't notice at the start of the video they're actually like weirdly straight compared to the rest of my hair, like they just have a little bit of wave all right, i'm just using my fingers because i Don'T have a raccoon, i'm gon na cut off like in half an inch more because i can just tell like this. Isn'T gon na be a huge difference now you're doing a great job. I can see you following along, and i am so damn proud of you. Oh she's, already looking banging, we are gon na add a little bevel. You see how it's so straight. It'S like girl pick up the hair. I comb it parallel to the parting, and then i hold my fingers parallel to the parting, so you're gon na get something like that and now all we have to do is cut off those longer pieces. So now, when we let go we're gon na get a beautiful angle, is that what we got? I kind of look like a separate snape right now. I'M not gon na lie they're the same picture, all right, i'm just going to cut off more because these aren't making a huge difference on my face for me right now. I don't know about for y'all we're just going to take the two middle pieces and make sure they're the same length which they are. I am now gon na just blow dry, her hair, for you get it all nice and cute and then we're gon na go in and detail the bangs um. I will tell you right now: i'm literally never going to blow dry, my hair ever so i'm just going to skip forward through this. We'Re going to do is section out those bangs again and we are going to take these bring them all the way up to the top of our heads and now just be careful and cut into the hair. Go slow, go, go, slow, i'm kind of cutting a lot off when i do this because i, like my ends to be very tapered um taking out some of the weight of the bang okay, brad mondo, i used to have my hair thinned like every time i Got it cut? It was one of the most uncomfortable sensations and this feels exactly like that sensation. So if he's watching this he's probably crying watching me, do the thinning part i like to blend my hair in with the rest. So i'm just going to take it like that and just follow the end of the fringe down to the bottom of her hair. Just giving her that little bit of connection right there in the front - oh that looks really good wow wow. I don't want to just like keep this purple hair because it looks really cool. This needs a little more i'm not following brad mono's instructions anymore. I i cut my hair myself all the time, so i just kind of i feel out the vibes when i'm doing like this toward a blending thing, and i just kind of see how it goes. Okay, um i'm like pretty much done with the bangs bit so uh, while i'm just like trimming up the rest of my hair, i'm gon na go and um i'll show you how i style my hair spoiler, not with a blow dryer like brad mondo, says so I'Ll be right back, show you how i style my hair and then i'll show you the finished result when it's all dried, okay, i'm fresh out of the shower, and i deep conditioned because i usually like the way my hair looks best the days after i deep Condition i usually keep these little microfiber hair towels on for, like anywhere from like 10 to 20 minutes. It really depends on how much time i spend on my phone when i get out of the shower i'm liking, how this is looking. I think this is going to give me the 70s vibes. I'Ve really been going juice. The first thing i do is get some sort of cream right now, i'm using the cantu moisturizing curl activator cream. I don't know if this actually counts as a leave-in conditioner, but it says moisturizing. So i just assume it does the same thing, and i put that into my hair. I used to section it off into four sections, and now i just do two, because it's a lot more realistic for me just kind of rake it comb it through. It doesn't really matter. There'S no pure method to this for me and then i have this little brush called a denman brush. I got this because of some tech talks. I saw as i sat there editing my video. I couldn't help, but wonder: am i the influencer or the influenced, and i just kind of take my hair in little sections and brush it from root to tip my hair was already detangled in the shower, so there shouldn't be any resistance. What this brush does or allegedly does is helps with curl definition, and i usually like to take my hair and just kind of like brush it away from the head, whatever direction that may be for a piece of hair that i'm brushing it's like. For these side pieces it'll be out to the side, for these it'll be straight up down here, just kind of like back and again nothing real methodical with it. With my bangs i usually give them a little flip and then i will take some type of oil right now. I have this rada argan oil. I really love to try new products if you guys like have any favorite, leave-in conditioners or oils or gels or anything. Let me know down below i'd love to try them and i usually scrunch. So basically, oil is hydrophobic, which means repels water. So since there's still water in my hair, the like idea is that it helps your hair, keep water and retain moisture. I don't know, and then i take gel right now, i'm using the eco olive oil gel. I have not found a cheaper, better gel and again i just scrunch it like i did with the oil starting at the ends and just going upwards. My thing is, i want curl definition and i want curl volume and i scrunch the ends of my bangs a little bit, but they usually don't curl up too much if anything they go into more of a wave. Obviously i don't know exactly how these are going to fall, because i just cut them, but then what i'll do is i take my bangs? Usually just the shortest bit of bang and i very gently pull it back like i'm not really doing much like you can see, it's very messy and i just take a shark clip and pop that in there, and that holds my bangs up like that, while they Dry and that gives them tons of volume, which i love. So that's all i do. I usually throw my hair into just like a very loose loose ponytail at the top of my head called pineappling when i sleep and i sleep on a satin pillowcase, so i'll show you what my hair looks like when it's all dry, all right friends here is The hair so yeah, it's like not that dramatic of a change. I honestly don't know if these even count as curtain bangs because of how i'm like styling them they're like pretty off to the side, but i like how it looks. I finally have some like shape face framing layers. You can see my face a little better, which is either a good thing or a bad thing, depending on how you look at it. I definitely could have it styled if i wanted, to which i do not want to, because i do not want to put myself through that in the morning but anyways. I hope this was helpful or entertaining or something of benefit to you. Brad mondo, if you are watching this and reacting to this, if you tell me what to do with my hair, i will do it, but please be nice about it. I also really like how these look with my hair back, and i think you can kind of get a better vibe of how they look so yeah. That'S it. Thank you for hanging out with me, as i make possibly questionable choices of my hair, and i love you guys. Hopefully i'll see you in my next video bye. You
