Hey everyone welcome back to eight vintage vanity and I am tickled bluish pink to be back not just to be back with another video but a hair tutorial. A couple months ago we watched and did a classy chicks on meet me in st. Louis starring, Judy Garland, and I did my hair like this as an homage to her hairstyle in the film and you guys said Jen can we have a tutorial, and I was Like yeah, of course you can, and - and that is what this video is now - the big difference is Judy. Garland did have bangs who's in those movies, and I do not so. That is why I created this a straight sleek style of bumper bangs. To kind of recreate the feel of her look in that movie, I hope you guys are really enjoy so keep watching, so my hair is left to dry unsupervised. This is what it does kind of sort of wants to think about curling, but doesn't really and gets a little fluffy. So the first thing we're gon na do is we are going to tame it all down and make it nice and sleek to do that. I'M gon na use my beloved Lady Luck, smoothing serum just gon na take a few drops of that warming up in the palm of my hand, and then I'm gon na start to put it onto the hair, starting at the ends of the hair cuz. That'S where my hair is the most damaged, and especially with the bleaching and the coloring and everything else it needs the moisture. This is gon na help shine the hair, smooth, the hair and gosh darn it. It smells amazing. It is hard to find the words to tell you how important it is to use a thermal protectant when using heat to style your hair, it's gon na help to minimize any damage caused by that heat, and especially if you have color treated hair. It'S gon na help to minimize fading so spray away, my friends it's time for the straightening iron, so this style is like the opposite of everything I do on this channel we're actually using a hair straightener. I know think that might be the first time that those words have been said on this channel just straighten the hair. I do it from the bottom up, so I'm just going to section off the top portion of the hair and pin it out of the way straighten. So I end to take bigger sections of the hair, and I just run it down the length of hair. When I get to the ends, I start to roll it in so it just creates just the slightest hint of a curl at the very end of it and depending on your hair type, the straightening process might take a little bit longer. Then you just repeat that process on this side of the hair, ooh so study. So now that we are all straightened out, at least literally, if not figuratively, we are going to section off the hair for our bumper bang. So I'm simply gon na go from the temple here to the other temple over here in a u-shape, and you do want to get the sectioning of the hair fairly uniform. I am going to use a hair rat this actually just found at CVS in the hair section. It is a French twist thing: bun filler, oh we gon na tease, we gon na tease and take thin sections of hair, and I am going to tease. I'M gon na do a little less teasing on the very top tier just because I don't want it to be too teased up on the very top, but I just washed my hair, so the hair is a very, very slippery. These styles actually work better on hair, that is at least a day old, the hair kind of sticks to each other better with some hairspray. So that's why I'm doing the teasing on that layer of hair. If this was day old hair, I probably wouldn't even tease that very very top layer I'd leave it smooth, but it's going to mold a lot better when it has something to grip on to the rest of this hair. Oh it's getting teased! Now you want to get the hairspray just a minute to dry. You don't want to start brushing on any of this while it's wet, I am just going to brush the very outside the top layer of the hair, and you want to do it on the sides. As well, so you want to do the sides and the top. Basically, we want it to look nice and smooth, because how this looks right now is how it's going to look when it starts to roll up, especially this section of hair. This part, not so much now before I go completely over all crazy, I'm gon na take my pomade. This is the Lady Luck, pomade that I'm using just gon na put it onto my hands smell it cuz. It smells like apple and then over the hair. Basically calming down any flyaways, and this will also give it a little bit of Sheen to the hair as well gather those ends together, and you know you're kind of in for a good roll. If you can kind of push it back a little bit and it looks pretty good, not bad and you want to roll it from down here, don't roll it from up here gathering all those ends together, tucking those ends in and I am rolling it taunt twon't. Funny word once it is nice and rolled up, and it looks nice and smooth I'm going to hold on to the ends of the chignon form, and then I'm gon na take my you guessed it and I'm gon na pin on the side of the chignon right Into my hair, so you should be able to all just take your finger off of it and not have it pop away from your head. I do find that I do need to do pins on two pins on each end. The chignon to really keep it in place, because that's gon na be the main pinning in the hair should be crossing those pins over when you put them in. So that will make it good and solid and it won't move I'm gon na, let the rest of my hair down, because otherwise it will start to kink. Seen from the hair tie real quick. This is always the hardest part about bumper bangs. For me, as you have now got to spread them out, so you don't actually see the roll, so I'm just going to start inching them out from the center and an important thing to remind yourself to when you start inching them out. You don't want to be revealing any of that back combing and then down once I've kind of inched out here, I'm going below the bangs and tugging on them a little bit, and then I am kind of placing my finger on the hair right here so that I can kind of get more of an au shape to the hair that I'm pulling on perfect. Then, what I'm gon na do is I'm going to brush the sides of the hair, so just above the ear and when I'm bring it up to the top and am bringing it right into the middle and I'm giving it a bit of a twist. Because you want it to look nice when it's up there, beep in I'm just the side of my head, that's always harder than the other and bringing that hair up to where the other hair is a bit of a twist and then we'll be pinning. And then what's gon na happen is that hair from when we pulled it up will kind of fall down to the sides. So I always keep my curling straightener right there in case. I need to run over the hair again cuz again, all the curls should be at the bottom, a good style. It'S never complete without some fabulous hair for hours. These I got from a Belle blossom and I absolutely love them there's some of my favorite flowers. In my collection, I hope you guys enjoyed today's hair tutorial and, as always, let me know in the comments section below what you thought of today's look and also I'm curious. Brenda F: The pattern on your dress is SO CUTE!!!

Flowerqt18: Love it !! You always have the BEST hair tutorials !!!!

whossoul: YAAAAAAY! I'm so happy to see another video from you! I love how smooth these look! I have a hair roll I've been meaning to remove some volume from and sew back together, and seeing this look has totally motivated me too! I know you are a real human with a life outside YouTube, and I can respect that, but please make more videos! You are my favorite! I don't care if they are simple/fast, it's your personality shining through that makes me the most excited to watch your videos!

Jinx Winters: I'm trying this when I get home tonight... I remember my grandmother using a clean rolled up sock for bumpers etc.... I love this! And I almost died my hair this color a few months ago but went black... so it's nice to see this color styled because I change my haircolor often lol. I have a wig this color it's amazin

Anne Tye: I love this look. You look great. My favorite is Wizard of Oz and Meet me in St. Louis ❤

Modern Retro Gal: Pretty!! I feel like if my hairs are long enough next year at Viva, I may need to have a bumper bangs moment.

cresciangirl: You saved me with this video!!! I’m at a Pulp con and I always dress vintage when I do readings. Last night someone kept me up way past time to do a wet set as I’d planned. I thought my hair was in good condition for bumper bangs and I had a chignon with me. Found your vid this morning and voila! I don’t have drab hair today. Thank you! Love all you do!

marvel096: Thank you for this tutorial so much!! I was in love with this hairstyle in the movie

Jamie Renee: You are just the cutest! Your videos always makes me smile so thank you!!!!! Also I love how your hair turned out I gotta try to do my vintage looks again, I stopped before I had the kids but watching you makes me want to bring them back so thank you! Also my absolute favorite Judy Garland movie is For Me and My Gal with the very handsome Gene Kelly.....watching that movie always reminds me of great memories with Mawmaw!

Kelli Ann: Love your hair tutorials! They’re the best! And I love the new hair color!

Sarah_d_makeupartistry: Always love your uploads! Thanks for the tutorial :)

Bonny OBrien: Stunning and adorable. I love all the old stlyes, just wish my hair would work for me.

VeganVintageGeek: I'll have to try this hairstyle. I've tried bumper bangs in the past and they came out badly since my hair is thin, even though I used a hair rat just like the one you have. My thin hair has been tamed to still do bumper bangs. Thanks to a video I saw on instagram last year. The lady used a bump-it to create her bumper bangs, no teasing required. Simply by turning the bump-it around the hair and sliding it tight on to the head. And no bobby pins were needed to hold anything down. I tried it once and it worked, I just put the bump-it in a little to tight and ended up with a headache. I so agree with you on the fluff my hair looks like a brillo pad after it has been conditioned and washed since it is also wavy. I so need that smoothing serum. And yes Lady Luck smells amazing, I adore the pomade. And have to wait for cooler weather to use it again. Since it flakes when it gets wet. Layrite Super Shine has been helpful for me this summer.

BTS Autistic Army & Mental Health Warriors: Dang it....I would just love a friend like you! Love ya girl!

Ríta Geïn: I love your hair colour, style and your glasses!!! I _sooooo_ want to try vintage, for myself.

Katie West-Ingold: Thanks to the Wizard of Oz, I am terrified of tornadoes! Love your videos! I have the donut for buns. Must get the chignon form and try this. I did love Judy's braids in Wizard of Oz. Judy and Mickey as young adults "Let's put on a show!" The costumes in Easter Parade. So many choices!

Clairio : so fabulous ! i want to do a bettie page tutorial and cut a extension into bangs but mine doesn't look great so ill try your technique , will big you up in my video :) xxx

MsGoldenGirl5: So happy to see a new video from you! You look gorgeous!

Ruby Flores: Great tutorial! Any tips on achieving this judy bang on bangs that reach just below the eyebrows? Also would that length be good for the bumper piece that you used?

kaz coll: welcome back! I loved this tutorial and wish my hair was thick enough to do it <3

Blissful Longing: Wow, the flat iron thing in the beginning, before you style it, actually looks really good. Do you ever wear it like that?

Stacey Smith: Would love to do this!

Funfettiyani: ~ Luving your tutorial, luv your hair...never a boring moment with you. xox yani ~

Alexia Zilliken: I think I'm going to try this for Viva next year

Cheryl Ann: Gorgeous, as always! Fave JG flick is In the Good Old Summertime <3

Thedollydevine: Love this

Fallen Angel: You are so cool! Judy is one of my idols. The way you make her fringe is so clever! My fave Judy film....I think Meet me in St Louis

jesikahayley: Super cute!! Would bumper bangs work on all face shapes?

Katrina Forrest: Yay! I've missed your hair videos :)

littlevintagemary: yayyyy! a new video, Its wonderful to see you doll!!! love you<3 hugs hugs hugs

MistressAliceD: Can you do a video on hairstyles for natural curly hair - I hate having to damage it from straightening it and as a cosmetologist I know even with heat protectants u will still have some damage - wanted to get some other cute ideas on what can be done -

Verbs describe us #culturacastildeviata #artgoeson: love it :)

80sBaby: Love the hair I must try this and my favorite Judy Garland film is A Star is Born

How to be Fancy: I believe your hair was channeling 90's Jen Anniston when it saw that flat iron, hehe! I LOVE the Judy look on you! x

mickey banks: Love this look, fav movie of Judy is meet me in St. Louis.

MeLissa Bee: Amazing hair tips but Aww i miss ur sewing videos when will u be back with them?

Valeri Oliva: Absolutely perfect

Wendy: Hay! I'm new to your channel and just wanted to say I like your video's! I also wanted to ask for some clothing advice. I noticed you sometimes wear off-shoulder clothing, but how do you support your girls? I've tried strapless stuff that just really let it look like it's all just hanging, so I've been doomed to show bra straps popping from under an off-shoulder top or dress. Please help!

ania witczak: As time is turning you looks younger and younger!

Lea Light: Super pretty. Favourite Judy movie has to be Easter Parade.

Blissful Longing: And my favorite Judy Garland movie is The Wizard of Oz. No real contest there.

Rachel M: First!!! I’m so happy to see your smiling face!!

Lisa Thomas: Where do you find the fabric and dress patterns

Jayme S: Super adorable... Fave JG film...The Harvey Girls

Shannon Traynor: I slammed that LIKE button :) I love this style .You look so pretty . I have very fine hair , with tiny, little , fine , pitiful bangs , lol So I have always feared trying the bumper bang , but you have made me brave . I think I'm ready to give it a try :) I love the way your were able to hide the hair rat . That worked really well . I hate when I fix my hair , and do that last check in the mirror , and discover that the hair rat is visible . But I guess it's better that we see it , and fix it before we leave the house , hehe :) Thanks so much for sharing this tutorial . I love when you post tutorials , so yes , please keep posting them :) Sending big hugs from The Canadian Maritimes :) <3
